Jim, I cannot tell you how much I have gotten out of your tutorials. They have taught me so much and have improved not only my editing skills but also my photo-taking as it pertains to composition and overall camera work. Have you considered sharing the photos/files that you are working on in your sessions with us so that we can follow along as you change/adjust the photo?
thanks so much, I appreciate it and glad that I have been able to help - I do share my raw files for the courses that I sell on my website, but not here on YT as of now
Po zakupie Luminara Neo szukałem bloga o praktycznej pracy na tym programie. Kiedy trafiłem tutaj oglądam każdy film i uważam, że jest to najlepszy blog na ten temat. Dziękuje i pozdrawiam, Mirek.
Thanks Jim 👍, I am the guy who wrote to you asking specifically for this 😀 ( I might not have been the only one ) but this is going to help me in soooooo many ways ! Loving your work !
That is a masterclass in massaging the light, the linear gradient and exposure drop along the top of the sky to help frame the shot was brilliant, thanks Jim.
Grazie
Always love your videos. I absolutely LOVE mystical. I started using it on a lot of my landscape shots. I don't usually mask with this tool but maybe I should. Thanks again from Atlanta!
Again, thank you for a wonderful tutorial. Simple, but so effective. My take from your workflow is, to take your time and really look as to what you want from your photo.
Hi Jim. As always great teaching. Did you just shoot one photo or did you bracket? What were your camera settings in all cases? I assume you did no focus stacking.
G'day Jim As we say in Australia,'What a bonzza (fabulous) example of perfect edit! I like your method of adjusting the contrast rather than exposure... that is a brilliant method. Why didn't you use Golden Hour again? Greg 👍
hi Greg and thanks so much, and I do love Golden Hour but just didn't need it on this one, as the golden tones were already pretty rich overall - thanks!
Thanks for all the help. I just received this morning my new MacBook Air with extra RAM and a bigger ssd. I’m goin all in on Luminar if it runs decently on this machine. Fingers crossed 🤞.
Hi Jim, I love your editing workflow. Quick Question for you, whenever I select objects in masking and try to add some more light to the selected mask, I usually get a halo effect around the object, how can we get rid of that?
Hi there and thanks. That happens because the object mask is not "perfect" along the edge, so the difference in brightness shows up. So you can do two things: tone down the overall adjustment so that the difference isn't as great, or (perhaps more helpfully) use a brush mask at 30-40% opacity and swipe it along those edges, which is sort of like adding a gradient edge to the object mask. Hope that helps!
Thanks to you i bought the luminar neo but i must say i will uninstal it cos is non-stop crushing.its impossible to use it. I wanted luminar very much for the simplicity, but big disappointment.

thank you so much Mirek, I really appreciate that!
I've been following your workflow in Luminar Neo for quite some time. Your vlogs are always helpful, Jim.
thank you so much, I appreciate that!
What makes your videos so valuable is the fact that before you even explain HOW to do it, you explain WHY to do it. And this is priceless.
thank you so much, I am glad to hear that, and glad you find this helpful!
Thanks Jim 👍, I am the guy who wrote to you asking specifically for this 😀 ( I might not have been the only one ) but this is going to help me in soooooo many ways ! Loving your work !

oh thanks so much, I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed this one!
@@JimNix I immediately jumped into Luminar and used some of those tips on a sunrise drone shot of Belfast.
@@DroningaboutIreland awesome!

"Oooh, a Spinal Tap reference!" LOL 👍
Nice edit, Jim! With every update we get, I like Neo better. I am SO glad they stuck with this program!!
haha thanks Theo, glad someone commented about Spinal Tap LOL
Neo is very intuitive and easy to use. However, this video has increased my understanding of its functionality exponentially!
Awesome, so glad to hear that, and thanks for watching!

Great Stuff as always Jim. Wondering?? what camera gear do you shoot with?
thank you Steve and I shoot with Sony, my full gear list is here: jimnix.com/gear

thank you Maurice and yes I totally agree that taking your time and planning helps quite a lot
What an amazing tutorial! It taught me so much. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Great edit! Thank you.
thank you Paulina!
Hi Jim. As always great teaching. Did you just shoot one photo or did you bracket? What were your camera settings in all cases? I assume you did no focus stacking.
Hi there and yes I did fire brackets although I chose to edit a single exposure here. This one was shot at f/22, 1/25 sec, ISO 100, and 16mm. Thanks.
Fantastic, informative video with lots of very useful information and tips. And very nicely presented. Thank you for making this available. 👍🏻
thanks and glad you enjoyed it!
Is the horizon crooked?
I think the clouds there make it look slightly off, but I don't think it is - but it is hard to tell for sure

@@JimNix yes , and no solution, have no idea what's happening.
Never mind, I will still enjoy yours videos.
@@kristijanignjatovski4415 so sorry to hear this and wish I could offer a suggestion to fix it
But the horizon isn't level!!!
haha, I am not sure bc the clouds on the horizon throw it off a bit so it's hard to tell exactly
All of modifications are not ethic. Period.
ok
