My obsession with killing everything in souls games has made me absolutely despise the giant Lobsters/Crayfish. They’re hard enough up close and they are really good at keeping you in front of them, but their sniper water jet shots are one of the most insane things I’ve ever witnessed. The Jailers are stupidly easy to deal with. I'm not even that good at Soulslikes, yet even I managed to figure this out the first time I encountered one of them. Besides, their design is sick as hell and I think the max hp reduction attack is unironically a cool concept that was really well made for an enemy you encounter in a small, cramped level where you can easily cut off their line of sight. Probably my favorite enemy to fight out of all soulsgames has got to be Lone Shadows from Sekiro. It just really itches that Tenchu/Ninjitsu feeling for me. The way they jump into the air to land with a kick, the parry method for them, everything just feels so satisfying. And for the most part their placement in the levels are just too good. Having them on the rooftops near Kuros room is such a cool fight to be had! I guess a bonus mention would be any offline invader-type npc from Bloodborne. With their cool outfits and weaponry. Not necessarily a stock enemy and moreso a mini boss but I think it counts
My least favourite in DS1 are the dragon hind legs and favourite are silver knights, in DS2 my least favourite are exploding corrosive hollows and my favourites are drakekeepers, in DS3 my least favourite are wolves and my favourite are Lothric knights, in Elden Ring my least favourite are royal revenants and my favourite are crucible knights.
Probably for 2 weeks in a row, I used your complete boss ranking and level ranking to use for background noise while I sleep. However, I’d end up staying up to watch them! You’ve convinced me to pick up Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne. Keep up the great work brother!
One of my favorite enemy types in the whole series are the Pontiff Knights from Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. It also helps that this area is also one of my favorite areas too. They speed and grace make them really just to dual, and their armor set is awesome.
I was gonna try to apply these to my dnd encounters.. but i think the biggest lesson is actually that the look and feel of the enemies is huge for players. (Also mechanics that take away control lead to frustration)
i think you are the first person who has done this even though there are a ton of youtubers with similar concepts and entire channels built around similar ideas. love the list, really think red eye knights are the best DeS enemies. they really show where the series would head in the future
An additional note about the Black Knights in DS1 is how much of a game changer it can be when you get lucky and the ones you face early on drop their weapon.
The Spear Adepts from Sekiro… I thought he would’ve brought those guys up. Although it’s sometimes satisfying to do a Death Air blow on them when you succeed
The black knights will always be my favourite enemies to parry in any souls game ever. The guttural *kaching* as their sword gets flung backwards will always put a smile on my face.
I absolutely cannot deal with Omens. Cannot get their timing right, and always burn through several flasks to fight them. That Omen Crypt in Liurnia is probably my least favorite dungeon in the game because of it. However, I find Royal Revenants to be alright. Scary and dangerous, sure, but even without healing, I found them okay to deal with. Get distance when they spaz, and close in afterwards. Same with the Kindred of Rot. I legit don't mind fighting them at all. Don't even consider them to be annoying. It's always interesting to see how different playstyles lead to different preferences. But anyways, great video! And I'm impressed you actually like the shark giants.
Im so with you about Bloodlickers. After 5 years I still dont know how to fight them. Erratic and fast attacks and a highly telegraphed jump attack makes them a nightmare to fight, unless you are high- levelled.
For me in Elden Ring, even though they're easy enough once you figure them out, it's gotta be those f**king birds with blades on their talons. I sigh heavily whenever I encounter one. Also, the giant dragonflies. They are just annoying and if you enter combat with them, you can't fast travel. Not to mention they are pretty much in every big open area.
11:33 The first character I ever beat DS1 with had something like thirty resistance, so, it was me, I the hell was levelling resistance I don't really regret it either, I never got poisoned again, and with that many points in it, I could actually tank hits pretty well
Hate to tell you, but it basically doesn't effect damage taken, at least not enough to make a significant difference. The poison resistance is good though.
I leveled the SHIT out of resistance my first time. My logic being that if I raised my defense instead of health, then the estus flask would proportionally recover more of my health. Pretty smart idea for being about 12 years old at the time but it unfortunately didn't work out as well as I would've wanted
Was very shocked to see the Winter Lantern absent from the Bloodborne list. Every time I hear that accursed singing, I just die a little on the inside knowing what is waiting for me up ahead.
Just you wait for Elden Ring DLC, Fromsoft is probably gonna realize that only having 4 royal revenants in the entire base game is too boring. So they’ll add a small room where you get ambushed by 20 of them. And it will be hilarious to see people get salty about it, while we’ll try not to trigger our ptsd of our own encounter of that room.
Good to hear the Bloodlickers finally get a mention, the ones at Cainhurst are Definetly one of the hardest enemies in the Souls series, an extremely unpleasant and annoying enemy
Royal Revenants are so weird. Sometimes I’ll fight one and it barely does anything and the other time it goes completely ballistic and destroys me. Omens are awesome to fight and I still remember freaking out when I went through a pipe in the sewer area only to see three of them coming down the ladder to kill me.
My personal worst list: Channelors in DS1, Bonewheels in DS1, which WILL make a b-line to you, all overly tanky stone enemies in DS1, those damn blowdart guys, Heide Knights in DS2 for their unpredictable movements, that one dragon near the beginning in DS2, ALL canine and rodent enemies, basilisks in DS1 for the very evil curse mechanic, most enemies in the DS3 swamp, and those very anti-first time player placement of those two Silver Knight archers in DS1.
i’m glad a video finally talks about how awful the revenants are in elden ring it’s my pick too i’ve done 6 playthroughs and i’ve only killed one of them because i’d rather just not deal with them
Bloodborne best enemy: Keeper of the old Lords, along with his attack dogs. Very badass, very challenging, very rewarding. Chalice dungeon only though. Honorable mentions: Executioner. Excellent early game practice material. Looks really cool with his big hood and giant weapon, has plenty of moves and I love how heavy he sounds as well. Vermin Host. That moment when the snakes pop out of its head for the first time is so memorable. He's pretty strong and fast, rewarding to slay. Just a really cool design.
The revenants are gimmicks, use heal and deal 3k dmg in an instant that combos into another heal. Cost a lot of fp but that is only a problem in Elpheal where there are 4 in a row.
The revenants, those giant bears and all the different bird types in ER. My God.. you can barly heal, and it is impossible to flee (unless you can ride) when fighting these enemies
Surprised you didn’t mention the Smouldering Ghru for DS3. Inflicts toxic via AoE, has grabs, often positioned for (limited) ganks or ambushes with other enemies. At least in the base game I don’t think anything else comes particularly close for being annoying, saved only by everything in Smouldering Lake being completely optional. The room with two Demon Clerics and Ghru still gives me trouble after what must be hundreds of hours of play.
Horned Warriors and all of their variants are my favourite. They are the Old Hunters, Ringed Knight, Corvian Knights equavilent of Elden Ring. Basically an a ultimate enemy that tests your skills and how far you have gone. Top it off they look cool.
I actually love Mibu Village as I treat it more like a farming location for Sen. The Village is how I was able to afford Sakes, Combat Arts and upgrade materials.
Shark Giants, Royal Revenants, Winter Lanterns and Corvian Knights are my 4 horsemen of "anxiety inducing encounter" They're terrifying but I don't hate them since they spice up some already spicy games
You are the first person I've heard in real life to have the super specfic accent Davey Jones has in pirates of the carribbean...which I think is so cool
maybe its bc theyre fairly squishy iirc, i may be wrong tho its been a couple years but i remember the big ones were the only ones that ever gave me trouble
The Old Knights in the early patches of DS2 were even better than they are now. I'm pretty sure they had their stats tweaked. Either that or very few weapons were available. But they took very little damage from all physical sources except blunt. They were extremely memorable because they kicked my ass a ton to the point where I tried out a bunch of different weapons and found that a simple mace smashed through them in a couple hits instead of a couple dozen.
Alright, before I watch it I‘ll guess based on my preference. DS1 best: Silver Knights worst: Skeleton Dogs DS2 best: Syan Knights (it’s a pattern) worst: Oooooh… I‘ll say butterflies, just annoying and no actual fight DS3 best: Ringed Knights (okay, I‘m boring) worst: Jailers (love the visual design but I‘d prefer a debuff that just induced fat-rolling and not the health drain) Sekiro best: Bell guys worst: Grabby Zombies (just no reason to fight them) ER best: Gladiators worst: Remnants Let’s see how I did!
When the video started, I wondered if the enemies would be ranked based on how tough they are individually, or grouped up. The most annoying enemies can be easy to handle one on one, but grouped up, is another story. I would’ve liked to have seen your list with those categories.
For pest threads, you can use a shield, either a medium or great shield, but the kindred of rot should be in front of you. If you have the barricade shield ability, you can easily deal with them with guard counters. Guard countering with barricade shield or a great shield is kind of effective with revenants, but you need stamina to absorb all the attacks
DS1: Best: capra demons in the demon's ruin: they're big, strong, fast and hit hard, fighting them and downing them it's always a pleasure. worst: crystal undeads in the duke's archive: they're stupid, stupidly strong and hit stupidly hard en masse.
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the giant crows in Elden Ring. Both variants of them, the normal ones found in Caelid and Mountaintops, and the Bloody ones found near Mohgwyn palace. They are some of the only enemies in the game where I do not even attempt to fight them, and they're extremely difficult to run away from even on horseback

All of these are excellent choices for their horribleness and greatness
@@ftir1450 btw, the DS3 wolves are my least favourite enemies in the series as a whole
I'm shocked no one is mentioning the winter lanterns from Bloodborne, arguably the worst enemy in any soulsborne game.
I'm surprised you didn't pick Jailers as most annoying Dark Souls 3 enemy
Personally, Elden, screw the revenants.
i think you are the first person who has done this even though there are a ton of youtubers with similar concepts and entire channels built around similar ideas. love the list, really think red eye knights are the best DeS enemies. they really show where the series would head in the future
An additional note about the Black Knights in DS1 is how much of a game changer it can be when you get lucky and the ones you face early on drop their weapon.
subscribed mostly for the accent, the quality argument presented in the video is a plus
The Spear Adepts from Sekiro… I thought he would’ve brought those guys up. Although it’s sometimes satisfying to do a Death Air blow on them when you succeed
Came here to say this, playing cat & mouse over the balconies with the trio at the top of Senpou temple could be a boss-fight on its own
Great video as always , loved it , youre f*cking funny man 💀
The black knights will always be my favourite enemies to parry in any souls game ever.
The way you got my subscription in under 2 minutes is WILD (you know what you said)
The Black Knights of DS1 having the same move set as the Boletarian Knights from DeS always puts a smile on my face.

The first character I ever beat DS1 with had something like thirty resistance, so, it was me, I the hell was levelling resistance
I don't really regret it either, I never got poisoned again, and with that many points in it, I could actually tank hits pretty well
Hate to tell you, but it basically doesn't effect damage taken, at least not enough to make a significant difference.
While backed up by hogwarts mages spamming their glintstone pebbles with 0 downtime.
Runebears are nigh unfightable in close combat, they're just way too aggressive for how much stagger their slams do, and they get to attack endlessly
Was sure the Elder Gru would be up at the top of the worst
Is that the guy that jumps on your face and rips it apart or the bigass shaman dude who summons red skulls? Hate both of them
Mentions and shoutouts are just a way to not having to make a clear choice :p
Anyway, awesome video mate :)
The crucible knights are my favorite enemies in Elden ring. They’re absolutely brutal but also fair. No bs, just a good enemy encounter
Very cool video and very enjoyable to listen the reasoning behind your choices. Thank you
Way better than other thematically similar videos I've seen.
i’m glad a video finally talks about how awful the revenants are in elden ring it’s my pick too i’ve done 6 playthroughs and i’ve only killed one of them because i’d rather just not deal with them
Bloodborne best enemy:
Keeper of the old Lords, along with his attack dogs. Very badass, very challenging, very rewarding. Chalice dungeon only though.
Honorable mentions:
Executioner.
I was abroad for a few years and hearing your accent is really really refreshing. Good vid too.
Hard counter the Kindred of Rot with a Greatshield and a spear then guard counter. 100% physical resistance also counters the pest threads.
There's a note sold by a merchant that clues you into the revenants being weak to healing incantations, actually.
Shark Giants, Royal Revenants, Winter Lanterns and Corvian Knights are my 4 horsemen of "anxiety inducing encounter"
They're terrifying but I don't hate them since they spice up some already spicy games
You are the first person I've heard in real life to have the super specfic accent Davey Jones has in pirates of the carribbean...which I think is so cool
I’m surprised the rock lizards and lizard people weren’t mentioned for dark souls 3, they feel like one of the only ‘cheap’ enemies in the game
maybe its bc theyre fairly squishy iirc, i may be wrong tho its been a couple years but i remember the big ones were the only ones that ever gave me trouble
They aren't cheap though. I kill the crystal lizard on every playthrough. Just. Dodge. Attacks.
This man hasn't been stunlocked and frenzied by a winter lantern
sick video, you've got a lovely way with words
(although it's funny the one word you whiffed was a very scottish one lol)
My least favorite in bloodborne is the Winter Lanterns, no doubt about it
The Old Knights in the early patches of DS2 were even better than they are now.
DS1 best: Silver Knights worst: Skeleton Dogs
DS2 best: Syan Knights (it’s a pattern) worst: Oooooh… I‘ll say butterflies, just annoying and no actual fight
DS3 best: Ringed Knights (okay, I‘m boring) worst: Jailers (love the visual design but I‘d prefer a debuff that just induced fat-rolling and not the health drain)
Sekiro best: Bell guys worst: Grabby Zombies (just no reason to fight them)
ER best: Gladiators worst: Remnants
Let’s see how I did!
0/10, not bad! Technical points on the last one but I did get the name wrong.
15:00 Grand Lance detected. Based Department notified.
Putting honourable mentions after the main pick is an interesting layout descicion
Loved the energy and tone behind the video!
