A Scottish man talking about dragons makes me happy thank you for the video man. Here's a fun fact about the Ancient Dragons in ER: They are literally made of stone and gold. Their scales are made out of stone and their "flesh" is made from gold.
Cool! Many sources in the game contain information that the scales of dragons are made of stone. And where is it written that their flesh is made of gold?
@@danieli-st5144It's visible from their models, Placidusax in particular has a bunch of wounds and you can see the gold flesh underneath very clearly.
@@X-Vidar You can see it on Lansseax and Fortisax as well. Both of their wings are made of gold(implying that they're made of a softer form of flesh than stone scales), and Fortissax's body is riddled with open wounds where you can see the gold flesh beneath his rotting scales.

I wouldn’t say I felt terrible for killing greyal, though it was pretty sad, I consider it a mercy killing. Think about it, you’re cursed with longevity with little strength to move to the point you’re basically fused to the ground by crusty fungus. That’s not living; that’s a hell.
An important thing about wyverns: The distinction between wyverns and dragons is not based on mythology. It originally came about from British Heraldry, and then was formalized in D&D when Gygax was looking for sources. If you look at medieval art, dragons often had two legs and two wings, or four legs and no wings, or pretty much any arrangement of wings and legs the artist liked. So if a modern setting has dragons with two legs and two wings, it's not really doing anything wrong (unless it's explicitly based on D&D). There's nothing wrong if they want to, D&D is absolutely a valid source of inspiration, but no setting is obligated to follow that definition.
No, it came from old french standards adapted by the Normans into middle British heraldry and a BIT of British mythology outside of heraldry. D&D did NOT formalize it, but modern times formalized the usage of the word "Dragon" to mean anything we want to lazily apply it to. D&D had dragons like the og shadow dragon as a "wyvern" and og gold dragon depicted as a "lóng" which people who simply echo the cause without doing research don't usually know. Back then, those wyverns in art and heraldry were NOT directly translated as "dragon" as we do modernly. They were at best "draco" which back then was read as "large serpent". While dragon does DERIVED from draco & ancient Greek "drakón" the meaning of dragon at the time was more narrowed to the creature the British would adopt into things like British heraldry. Of course modernly in fiction no artist is wrong in what they call a "dragon" just like we can whatever we want a "unicorn" and it be right. No one ever follows d&d, nor uses d&d as a basis. And it's funny many who claim to play d&d don't actually know a lot about d&d which I find funny. Who says they aren't following said British heraldry? Plus sometimes when you want to emphasize something in your world, having dragon separated like it was from the other dragon beasts who already have their own name seems like the sane & logic choice to do, no?
To quote a article i found. "The simplest way is to count the number of limbs: A dragon has four limbs and two wings. A drake has four limbs and two wings. A wyvern has two limbs and two wings."

The secret to DS1 red dragon on the bridge is this: it attacks when there’s enemies on the bridge, if you kill the enemies with a bow before you step onto the bridge, red dragon doesn’t attack when you cross. But only if you’re coming from behind, if you kill all the enemies with a bow from door to the lower Undead, it’s attack is delayed a bit, you can manage to get to the stairs on the bridge before it attacks. TLDR; kill enemies before going on bridge, behind or head on
I don't know if you can count king of the storm as a dragon boss but his design and him helping nameless king with his moves that make it look like he is helping his master is a really cool idea.
Just beat Granblue fantasy relink. The devs definitely had a conversation about “should we have an awesome dragon fight or an awesome human fight for the final boss” “why not both.”
The first time you actually see Midir is as soon as you get into Ringed City, I believe just as you walk out of the first bonfire, you do a 180 and you see Midir in the distance clining onto a mountain, observing you
I wish there were some small drake enemies in the souls game other than the blue ones in dark souls. Those things were so cool to learn how to fight and eventually farm. They were reasonably tough, smaller enemies that gave u a decent amount of souls and occasionally a dragon scale
DS3's and ER's dragons have been outstanding experiences (except Ancient Wyvern ofc). Can't wait to see what Miyazaki and his companions cook up for the next one!
I love Sinh and the lore behind him being a peaceful dragon worshipped in Shulva but then the Drakeblood knights show up trying to steal its blood to gain immortality. But during the battle Sinh gets pierced by that giant spear and his body shoots out tonnes of poison that destroys shulva and infects everyone there
I love ancient dragon, it’s HUGE and it hits like it, I always felt that it was the pinnacle of what a dragon ought to be, and fighting one on a battlefield would be intense!!
Sometimes I get frustrated when people complain that dragons fly too much. Like, yo, why would a flying creature spend a lot of time on the ground where it keeps getting injured instead of trying to fly up and kill you from the air?
Whats more disturbing about Oceiros 's design is that it's character model is actually carrying its child Ocelotte which was turned invisible and at the beginning of the first phase he crushes his own child and screams 'Ocelotte'
You forgot about the Nameless King and the Dragon he rides on. Sure you only fight the Dragon on the first phase, but it’s still worth at least an honorable mention.
This is entirely limmys fault but I cant help but hear the "purple burgler alarm" clip every time you say purple, and cant help but notice you using the the limit breakers helmet in your ds3 clips. Back on topic I love all of the elden ring ancient dragons they are so amazing, I love how they all grab lightning bolts from the sky for their attacks or lightning strikes them and coats their scales.
I find cutting off Kalameet’s tail more challenging than the fight itself. Not to say Kalameet is easy, he’s challenging enough but getting that tail is a nightmare solo.
My personal favorite dragon in the series is Seath the Scaleless. While his fight isn't anything to wrote home about, especially after his curse build-up nerf. However his actions and presence can be felt throughout the entire trilogy, despite him being slain in the first game. So he gets a 10/10 for lore factor from me.
@@grimm3995 What does any of that mean? What makes a certain difficulty "cheap" or "with no substance"? Delayed attacks just mean you have to pay more attention to the timing of your roll. How is that in any way bad?
Theres a theory i really like. If you look at the pre-human animals, like way way back, the biggest predators were big birds, big cats, and snakes. In more modern, human times, we combined all three into a mega beast. A creature with the body of a big cat, the head and scales of a serpant, and can fly like the big birds too. Add fire in too, because fire is scary
I'd pick ekzykes for my worst dragon in Elden Ring. While there are a lot of cool thematic things about its design, its arena and the way it attacks . it loses a lot of points because you either melt it because you fight it when you've leveled up a ton, or its just unfun to fight. The worst part is the attack where it just breaths rot down and floods what feels like a square mile up with rot cloud. The tell for the attack is reletively easy to notice, but if you are under it when it starts, good luck getting out. If torrent decides to not want to do the running start, good luck getting out. It wouldnt be so bad if it A) Spread a little slower B) didnt spread as far, or C) didnt melt your healthbar on its own before afflicting the rot on you (Kinda like the valiant gargoyle poison). If you have any good fire/bleed attacks, he goes down pretty easily though, especially if you can get around his head being so high off the ground.
the elder dragon boss fight in ER i feel isn't a true boss fight; i feel it's us as a player giving her one last fight so that she doesn't suffer from the rot but dies a warriors death like all the other dragons; it's a gift of mercy that only we can do.
While Adula looks very much like the other non-ancient dragons, there's nothing quite like seeing her cast Moonblade at you for the first time and the sheer panic as you try to figure out what the fuck is about to happen to you.
as you decided to not include a distinction between different dragons which is fair the ones that appear are wyverns which have 4 limbs being 2 legs 2 wings, dragons have 6 limbs being 4 legs 2 wings, drakes have 4 limbs only legs and can't fly, wyrms have no limbs but can still fly, lung dragons have 4 limbs are snakelike and can fly
Midirs boss fight arena is also literally where rhe pigmy inherited the flame. That one intro cutscene from ds1? Thts the one, your beating a giant fucking dragons ass in the cavern in which the first humans arose
Imo no dragon can beat dark eater midir he was not your usual cool looking but stupid dragon with only fire claw stomp and bite attacks he did all of these with so much more and way more mix ups and he would definitely kick your ass a couple of times before you beat him
Yeha you want to kill Old Dragonslayer first so when all of the knights get up you can still get to Dragonslayer without too much hassle but also, I do despise heide knights.
Honorable mention for nameless king's dragon from ds3? Definitely not one of the best dragons but it has a pretty unique look and I think it's cool as a first stage of a great boss fight.
while technically you dont HAVE to use stealth, the Old Hero fight is much easier if you silence your character as he is blind and relies on hearing to guide his attacks.
I would have picked the first unnamed ancient dragon you fight at Farum Azula as the worst. For all the cool visuals and spectacle, the fight itself is a miserable one where it seems to have endless poise, it often keeps its head out of melee distance, and focusing on its legs really hinders your ability to anticipate its next attack because Fromsoft camera 😂
A note on ds3 dragons in general, their heads are their weak points, which makes fighting them far more interesting, as it promotes fighting the dragon head on instead of just hacking the legs

The first time you actually see Midir is as soon as you get into Ringed City, I believe just as you walk out of the first bonfire, you do a 180 and you see Midir in the distance clining onto a mountain, observing you
Bolt of Placidusax has got to be the coolest looking boss move, 2 headed dragon god just dropping a lightning nuke
But during the battle Sinh gets pierced by that giant spear and his body shoots out tonnes of poison that destroys shulva and infects everyone there
I was NOT expecting drakengard in the first 15 seconds
I love ancient dragon, it’s HUGE and it hits like it, I always felt that it was the pinnacle of what a dragon ought to be, and fighting one on a battlefield would be intense!!
Funny thing about Sinh, I never had issues with him. I even 1st tried him.
Looking forward to see if we get any great dragons in Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in June.
Sometimes I get frustrated when people complain that dragons fly too much. Like, yo, why would a flying creature spend a lot of time on the ground where it keeps getting injured instead of trying to fly up and kill you from the air?
to be fun to fight

Whats more disturbing about Oceiros 's design is that it's character model is actually carrying its child Ocelotte which was turned invisible and at the beginning of the first phase he crushes his own child and screams 'Ocelotte'
You forgot about the Nameless King and the Dragon he rides on. Sure you only fight the Dragon on the first phase, but it’s still worth at least an honorable mention.
0:10 DRAKENGARD ACKNOWLEDGED! Good vid already
Wanna know what else is iconic but underrated in the FromSoft games:
Spiders!
Best and Worst Spiders when?
Hmm, now there's an idea!
As always, cheers for your videos, really enjoy watching them and for sure keep them coming🙂
Thank you buddy, I appreciate the support!
Placidusax is the best King Ghidorah boss fight we have had in any game
I find cutting off Kalameet’s tail more challenging than the fight itself. Not to say Kalameet is easy, he’s challenging enough but getting that tail is a nightmare solo.
My personal favorite dragon in the series is Seath the Scaleless.
While his fight isn't anything to wrote home about, especially after his curse build-up nerf.
However his actions and presence can be felt throughout the entire trilogy, despite him being slain in the first game. So he gets a 10/10 for lore factor from me.
Placidusax also used to have 4 wings but it might have been six I can’t remember
Midir is like an early example of an Elden Ring boss fight
@@ganjacomo2005 None of the ER dragons have cheesy delayed attacks or are any more aggressive or faster than Midir, pal.
@@Al-ji4gdthey were talking about bosses in general not dragons specifically
@@ganjacomo2005 How are delayed attacks "cheesy"? And im fairly certain delayed attacks are not a new thing to ER.
@@raptorxrise5386they are, and by cheesy I think he means just cheap difficulty with no substance
@@grimm3995 What does any of that mean? What makes a certain difficulty "cheap" or "with no substance"? Delayed attacks just mean you have to pay more attention to the timing of your roll. How is that in any way bad?
CURSE YOU, BAYLE!!!!!!
I love you CANDLE Type 1a
Hopefully the DLC gives us more dragons and more information about Placidusax
Placidusax is always such a fun fight for me.
Bloodborne technically has a dragon if you count Ebrietas.
We don’t lol
My favorite is the nameless king's dragon mount... not really its fortissax lol.
2:13 I mean to be fair every wyvern is a dragon, but not every dragon is a wyvern, at least as far as I know.
every ape is a monkey but not every monkey is an ape
or something like that
I remember before finding him, I had a grace named "dragonlord placidausax" and telelported to it, then without warning he just fell on my head 😂
A part of me feels robbed we never got to fight placidusax in his prime. Still my favorite fight in elden ring so far though.
Ooo who would I pick as my favourite, Fortissax or Midir... I think I'd go for Fortissax but it's a damn close one. Kalameet is worth a mention too.
Fuck me why is it I'm only now realizing how much I want to fight a mecha dragon in AC 6?
My guess is Placidusax cut off two of its own heads with his beam attack.
Lmao the frog when you say Robut made me giggle
ahahahaha the frog at "robot" x)
Thank you for putting the frog in...all I heard was ribbet lolol
🐸
Kalameet also has a banger theme let's not forget that
Great video ps witch soulsborne world would you rank
While Adula looks very much like the other non-ancient dragons, there's nothing quite like seeing her cast Moonblade at you for the first time and the sheer panic as you try to figure out what the fuck is about to happen to you.
I bet shadow of the erdtree will give us an even better dragon than Plasidusax. Dont quote me but I would put money on it.
personally I count the giant serpents in sekiro as a type of dragon, or wyrm
as you decided to not include a distinction between different dragons which is fair the ones that appear are wyverns which have 4 limbs being 2 legs 2 wings, dragons have 6 limbs being 4 legs 2 wings, drakes have 4 limbs only legs and can't fly, wyrms have no limbs but can still fly, lung dragons have 4 limbs are snakelike and can fly
Midirs boss fight arena is also literally where rhe pigmy inherited the flame. That one intro cutscene from ds1? Thts the one, your beating a giant fucking dragons ass in the cavern in which the first humans arose
This is fun video about great games
Just in time for work
I love how you put more stank on that accent than smoughtown
Holy shit, Legend of Dragoon reference.
"Darkeater Mahdick- uh Midir"
Honorable mention for nameless king's dragon from ds3? Definitely not one of the best dragons but it has a pretty unique look and I think it's cool as a first stage of a great boss fight.
Have to be honest, I forgot all about the Nameless King's Wyvern!
Every Dark Souls DLC added the best dragon in the respective game.
Here's looking forward to Shadow of the Erdtree special dragon fight.
while technically you dont HAVE to use stealth, the Old Hero fight is much easier if you silence your character as he is blind and relies on hearing to guide his attacks.
Honestly Seathe has the coolest lore in the entire series. They did him so dirty in game😂
If Elden ring DLC is a memory i hope we get a prime placi to fight (or atleast try)
i hope in the elden ring dlc we could face prime placidusax with all four heads
love your videos man
A note on ds3 dragons in general, their heads are their weak points, which makes fighting them far more interesting, as it promotes fighting the dragon head on instead of just hacking the legs
I’m just a simple guy who is a fan of slaying dragons makes me feel like a legendary dragon slayer like the Norse hero Sigurd and Saint George.
Fromsoft’s Best & Worst Robits when
my favourite Soulsborne dragon is the Blue Dragon from Demon's Souls (and i like the Dragon God).
