    Alex is a certified DaVinci Resolve trainer and video producer with a mission to simplify and reduce the learning curve of producing fantastic video content. Alex has been in filmmaking for over 14 years and, in 2016, set up his company, Depiqd (said Dee-PikT), which initially focused on traditional video production.
    Now, whilst Depiqd still offers video production services to our clients today, the focus is on reaching and helping as many people as possible to get started using video and make the process of learning enjoyable, stress-free and efficient without it costing a fortune.
    Whether you have personal or business-driven goals, video is so powerful and can reach people in many ways that other forms of media can. However, it can be laborious, complicated, and expensive, and it takes a long time to become proficient, so often, people give up far too soon.
    If that sound's familiar, hopefully, the videos on this channel will help you. Please consider subscribing and turning on notifications, so you don't miss new videos as they get released.

    So what is your favourite method for moving Davinci Resolve projects between different computers and workstations? Mine is shown at the end of the video, but I don't think it will be too long before we are all really able to make use of remote and cloud opportunities. @@AlexCameron-Depiqd @Alex Cameron - Depiqd Hi Alex, We miss your videos. Perfect pace and as a certified trainer the right knowledge. Great that Davinci Resolve is now erupting everywhere, even with the big boys. I have the choice for very expensive software with all separate programs, and those never of yourself are never understood. You'll be too busy, but hopefull, we'll see you here again soon. And rather rested than on the way to a burnout. Greetings from me and my colleagues 🙋🏻‍♂️
      BTW, we hardly ever get around to posting videos on TH-cam. We also hope to come up with many reviews of our equipment soon, but we are still very busy learning as much as possible about Davinci Resolve Studio. Video editing has never been so beautiful and such a challenge. 🏆

    I'm going to say thank you because you have solved my problem. I literally just got off the phone with Davinci Resolve Studio support and the guy who talked to me told me that none of this was actually possible and that I was tethered to the system I started editing with. I told him I didn't think that was right and he assured me it was.
    He told me that there must be a translation error because their company is Australian and not American. I'm like, don't they write/speak English in Australia?
    He even told me that I could not use the cloud the way I wanted, which is what you just covered. This is my second and LAST time calling them. I'll just go to TH-cam University for my questions moving forward. I really like Davinci Resolve Studio but their support is subpar.
    Again, thank you for resolving my issue in less time than it took me to type all this.

    At work we have a NAS/Synology w/10gb connection that we store and edit from. If one were to want to work remotely then I would assume creating a project archive would allow that opportunity to do so by creating and storing that media onto your laptops hard drive. But, when you return to the office with edits made to the archived project, how would you toss it back to so to work from the server again? Thanks!!

    EXCELLENT video... two questions. When sharing in the cloud, does the recipient also have to pay for the cloud service? And... do you have a video explaining how to set up and use bins? I tried to make a bin for each scene in a short but had trouble bringing all the scenes together on a timeline for export.

      No, doesn't have to pay. Only the creator of the project library in the cloud has to pay, not the people that you give access to the lib.

So everytime when i want to turn off the proxies to actually see what i am doing it just shows me "media offline". Now i am a bit lost how to relink it with the source media... i also tried to do it with "relinking media" but it did it only for some clips and not for all. I would be happy about an answer. Very good. I do have one issue:
    I have managed to transfer my files and open them on my other computer, but, the files seem to not be found on my new computer. In other words, my project loads, but all my videos, images, and audio recordings show as "Media Offline[.]" I did also transfer these files to my new computer, under the same name, but I still have no luck. Interestingly enough, when I manually add one of the "missing" files onto my timeline, the file does show correctly. Do you know if any fix to this? I tried restarting my Davinci Resolve (I have version 18.5), but I also had no luck with that. Thank you in advance.
    I should clarify: when I upload a "missing" file onto my timeline, it just loads normally, as in if I, say, cut it previously, I'd have to cut it again (I hope that makes sense). Otherwise, I could just upload all my files onto the timeline and call it a day.

    Great video! One thing to stress is that when you export then import a project you're making a snapshot of the project and any further work done will be within your respective databases (libraries) and that export you made won't be updated. That trips people up sometimes!

    • @AlexCameron-Depiqd
      @AlexCameron-Depiqd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jamie, you're absolutely right. Exporting the project is a snapshot of the project and not a continuous, dynamically linked project. Thanks for your insight and sharing that with everyone.

    Having come from Adobe products, this workflow has tripped me up a bit. I want to house all of the files for a Resolve edit within my project folder for a given project - not some database directory buried inside c:/userprofile/roaming/appdata/.... (windows). So two questions. 1 how do i do this and 2 be sure that as I continue working on these timelines, things dont get copied back in to the c:/ default database path.

    Great video. Are all these transfers possible if you copy from windows to apple? I will update my computer from Windows to Mac and would like to take my projects with me =)

      Great question. Yes is the answer. Projects exports, Project archives and Cloud Libraries are all cross platform compatible. Thanks for watching!

    Recently I've been creating a new Project Library in the same file tree as the media that's been recorded by my ATEM Mini Extreme and having one project in there. As long as I copy all the files in that tree (or just move the external SSD) that Project Library can be linked on a new machine. Relinking the media and adjusting the clip location in the settings usually works nicely.

      Interesting...so you record everything with the ATEM, which creates a project and ISO file for you. Then you create a new Project Library to open each of these projects in and have that Project Library live in the same folder the ATEM created so the whole package can easily be moved around. Have I got that right?

    Hey Alex thanks for the video! Quick Question. How can I send a DaVinci Project to another Video Editing Software like Premiere Pro or Final Cut.. is this possible?

    • @AlexCameron-Depiqd
      @AlexCameron-Depiqd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. It is possible via an XML or EDL but this can be a slightly tricky and not perfect process as some types of transitions, effects and unique properties will not translate between the different NLEs. Chapter 55 in the Reference User Manual has some good information on this.

    Hey, what if you can't open DaVinci Resolve altogether? My laptop's GPU died so I got a new laptop but I'm unable to transfer my projects due to DavinciResolve not being able to open with the intel integrated graphics. Probably will try to find any cache/appdata folders... if you want an update or have the same issue comment on this/like this so I can see it and write an update the solution

    12:00 Did you ever produce this video? If the Project Library doesn't contain the media what does it actually have? Is it simply an alternative to sending the DRP file?

  • @PhotoGuyCom

    Thank you for the video. It didn’t quite explain what happens when you travel. Let’s call this remote editing. For example, editing on the airline home from a shoot. Over the pond there is no internet or it’s a very slow satellite based WiFi. This REALLY slows down the editing process or speed of the computer because of the WiFi or lack there of. Not to mention nothing is 100% saved which creates a big risk for loosing your enroute edits. In this case, is it best to store all of the data (video, audio and edits) on an external drive? Then you could just unplug the drive from one computer and plug into the other.
    Formatting the hard drive would limit you to one operating system I think. Right? In other words you couldn’t do edits on an iPad (size and weight matters when traveling) with the external drive and just connect to a PC at home? Right? I don’t think that would work.

    I'm currently making an explainer video with lots of title for my school project on my pc. But when I exported the project and tried to import it on my friend's pc, all the titles are gone and replaced by black bars. Anyone ever encountered this?
