This channel is the best!!! I have gone to another level in my editing because of your tutorials!
Jason, You are a master at teaching. Thank you
Thanks! I don’t know about a master, but I do my best to make helpful videos for everybody. 😜👍
Thanks. Great video. Much appreciated.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks, Jason.
You’re welcome!
Thank you so much for this video.
You’re welcome! 😁👍
Cool your series on project management. Indeed, regularly unloading my work disk to an external archive disk, refashioning the links with the media and also exporting projects for backup, I followed with interest your tutorials on the subject because yes they deserve to be studied. Moreover, I have no problem when DVR crashes, I must have the right settings because it’s incredible I find my work where I left it!
It works great when you've got it setup properly. Most people just don't take the time to figure it out and get the backup stuff set up probably. But they sure are mad when they loose stuff. 😜
super, thanks man ✌
You bet! 😁👍
Awesome as always - thank you sir 😁🤘🙏
Thanks Gary!
Thanks Gary!
Jason, always helpful tutorials. When you copy your project file with the media files, does it copy just the media associated with the time-line or does it copy all media, even unused media clips as well? Thanks for all the helpful advice! Your enthusiasm is appreciated!
Thanks! I believe it copies everything in your media pool. Even if it's not in the timeline yet.
DRP can be attached to an EMail But you'll need to use a (LARGE FILE TRANSERVICE) like Drop Box , I use Google Drive.
True it is possible to do it that way if the file is too big to email. Gmail lets you send up to 25mb I think.
Hi! I wanted to ask if you could do a video about how to make a "vintage radio" voice over effect, like those 50's speaker distortion, i'd need it for a personal project, but I'm still a beginner with davinci resolve and I only trust your videos.
Thank you and cheers from Italy!
Hi! I've got a video on it already here: th-cam.com/video/eXPfv-bDNCo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XPSRQgIsYvHNISjT
You can use the distortion FX to get the sound you're looking for. One of the presets should work for ya. 😜 Let me know if you have any troubles!
@@JasonYadlovski how dumb from me not finding it... many thanks! keep on the amazing work!
Is there a way to update an existing project to conform with one you've been sent/given, if it's got new media, outside of using the cloud? I do a short, weekly 'coming up this week' video. I'd like to be able to send the project to someone else for them to do it if I'm on holiday, and then pick back up with the updated version.
Try checking out this video by Chadwick. One of these options might work good for you: th-cam.com/video/KeZbx4rOCsY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ACMs1_UkcAGaXxpH
Hi Jason. Great info. When I export the project archive there is media that is offline. It has worked in the past but now it happens all the time. I started using an external SSD drive. Can you set the search entire hard drive for offline media function to only search on the external drive? Could this be happening because too long file names? It's mostly still images. Worked fine in the past. Some say there is a bug in the latest version as I have read about this on reddit.
That’s interesting, I haven’t had that problem before. But you can search the entire drive by just selecting the top level folder when you go to re-link the media. Resolve then search everything inside that top level folder and it should be able to find your files.
What's the best way to work between your computer and iPad? Is there a way to have the same project file saved in both the Davinci for desktop and the one for iPad so I can seamlessly move between the two? Thanks
I’d say the best way is to put the project in the blackmagic cloud. I think you get a bunch of free storage in there. Otherwise, I’d keep the media on an external SSD you can move back and forth and then export just the project file (drp) to move back and forth.
every time I import and select the .drp file it pops up unable to import project do you know what to do
Maybe make sure both versions of resolve are the same?
How do you move a Project with multipul time lines from one Library (DATA BASE to a newer one with out creating duplicate Files/Clips on your SSD.HDD?
I have 5TB of storage and 7 Librarys/Data bases and from 41 Projects with motipul Time Lines to 2 DB's with 7 Projects each.
The timelines are all contained in either your DRP or your DRA file. No need to do anything else they’ll all show up.
So I just got my Mac mini m1 16gig 1tb ssd. This my 1st time on Mac, should I work off of a ssd external hard drive or the Mac mini itself? Also can I send power bins as well? Because I set up power bins on my old lap and I didn't want to redo everything again.
I have the same setup, I keep my database with the Resolve project files on my internal drive since the database is small, then all my media I keep on a Samsung T7 SSD. Works out good for me, no bottlenecking. I believe you can also export your power bins so then you can just import that onto the new machine.
@@JasonYadlovski how does it runs for you? I'm coming from hp, shooting on the fs5 and a7iii. Let me tell I couldn't even put pictures on top of each other on a timeline without freezing up or crashing. I've been having to do the very basic editing, I just want knw if I can start doing some cool things when shooting and editing now? Thx ya for everything.
It works great for me, I am running studio. The studio version is gonna help everything run better. I’ve been using it for over two years with no problems.
How about a Video on using BMD's DaVinci Resolve's collaboration, each artist can work on the same project, in their own dedicated page with the tools they need.
Even better a Tatorial on how to be able to watch another person (STUDENTS') computer screan and show/tell them how to accomplish a task. i.e. either take control and do/show them oe see their screen and explain what to do to accomplish the task at hand. I learn much better by repeatedly acomplishing a task where someone keeps me from making mistakes and then getting all confuesed fixing mistakes rather than learnibng, like when watching a tutorial and make a wrong key strok and find out farther things aren't worrking as showen in the tutorial. Happens often when your memoury fail in 15 seconds. CRS (Can't Remeber Schit)
How about, as I found recently, exporting your entire library to a new machine and restoring it, but your videos are in a different path on the new machine? The only way I found to export the entire library of projects was to use DB backup and restore, and then copy my video directory over manually.
I ended up correcting the path in each project, one at a time, it's slowly driving me insane!
You could try jumping into Resolves preferences, and setting the path where all your videos are, then I think resolve will look to that path first. I could be wrong, I haven’t tried that out yet, you may still have to re-link clips in each project.
@@JasonYadlovski Thanks, I will have a look, I might have tried that.
The big issue seems to be gallery, capture and proxymedia locations, they're all stored in the individual project databases (I even resorted to digging direct in those!)
Did you try changing where resolve puts all those files in the preferences/project settings? I use one Central location for all that stuff, you could just put in a new file location and that should work.
May I ask how am I suppose to transfer the recordings?
The media can live anywhere, for example and external Harddrive. So you can just plug that into the new computer, relink the files in resolve and you're good to go.
@@JasonYadlovski oh I see thanks
Can you please make a video on how to do that zoom-in effect you use for your tutorials? The effect is where you zoom in and focus on a specific part of the frame, but the rest of the frame is darkened and blurred out. I can't seem to find a video tutorial anywhere on TH-cam.
Already have one 😜 I actually don’t do that in Resolve. th-cam.com/video/CKfOJAxmPcs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EqooGVyPXPzxtBGc
@@JasonYadlovski Ok, thank you! Unfortunately, I use windows so that wouldn’t work for me. But I love your content! Thanks for responding 😁
Camtasia has these features , too. And there is a windows version.
@@e.e.1201 I’ll take a look
@@e.e.1201 I actually just found a free plugin for Davinci that is super easy to use and give me the ability to do all the same things basically.
is this working for DaVinci to premiere as well?
I don't think you can go from Resolve to Premiere.
@@JasonYadlovski thank you. so only the XML way is possible. right?
I haven't used Premiere before, so I'm not sure what formats it will accept. But if it works, I'd do it. 👍
