It looks like a great luxury SUV, but being built in China for me is a deal breaker and I hope it is for a lot of other people as well. Why can't they build them here, especially when other German luxury brands do.
I think the Lexus is the only one I didn't test drive before we chose the Nautilus. The runner up of the ones I did test drive was the Cadillac. It seemed smaller though. And the Cad had a button on the shifter and I'm like no way. So for me, the big theatre screen in the Nautilus caught my attention from the very beginning and I am very happy with it.
Oh man, whew! Read the title and thought "What could possibly be better than a GX460??" Then I realized you were comparing it to the RX, & now I understand why the comparison is fair.
When I first saw that screen on the commercial, I was like "That's a pretty cool concept." Then I realized it's a real car that you can actually buy... Lincoln, you're on the map again. This is cool.
I enjoy your videos immensely. Extremely detailed & well explained. However, I wish you’d discuss the most important detail. That being a vehicles long term reliability. If the vehicle is new or completely redesigned, mention it’s predecessor’s reliability.
I like it. This is really the first Lincoln that doesn't have any Ford influences from the get go. The 2.0T hybrid is the perfect blend of power & MPG, something the RX 350h focuses more on the latter. Sucks that there is no PHEV option given how high tech the interior design is. The RX looks more conventional but I'm not sure if the older buyers would be keen on the contextual buttons and configurable displays.
The interior designs of the Lincoln models haven’t looked remotely like the Fords since the Nautilus was unveiled in 2019. The exterior designs aren’t close either, except the Navigator.
Alex, you do the best reviews, so professional in your methods. I like how you have a command on the information. Especially in your comparisons between other models and brands. I own a xt5 Cadillac Premium. Had this Lincoln been available, I would have purchased it. I don't like that it is made in China.
There is definitely a lot to like about this new Nautilus, and I have been looking specifically at this class of car to replace my Grand Cherokee, but I'm not a fan of all the touchscreen controls. Edited to add - Ooof... I'm not sure I'm ready for a Chinese-built car.
I have a problem with a car that is manufactured in a country that has nuclear weapons aimed at the US. US allies? Not so much. The Lexus I want is a RX 450h+. And the 37 miles of all electric range.
Love how the new Nautilus looks outside and powertrain choices are certainly more interesting than what Lexus is offering but the all-screen interior is just a no-go for me. Such an interior design philosophy just isn't luxury to me. Lincoln pretty much nailed the classic luxury vibe with the interiors of the facelifted previous gen Nautilus and current gen Aviator and Navigator and it's quite sad that is already being retired.
Better, maybe. Bigger question is better for how long. Lexus is the reliability king, I do not have the same faith in Lincoln. 2L Turbo for a heavy vehicle does not inspire confidence long term.
I'm looking forward to hearing how BlueCruise performs on the Nautilus. Hopefully you'll have a chance to test that when you get a review loaner. Looking at the owner's manual, initially it appears Lincoln really did not fully utilize the 48" screens for BlueCruise notifications. Instead, it looks like all they did was just use the bland, easy-to-miss BlueCruise steering wheel icon on the driver's side screen.
Reliable? Do you mean durable? This isn't a fragile piece of equipment, it would have to be a major accident to damage the screen and in that case the vehicle would be totalled anyway. -Travis
Great design and great value. Love the extra space! Can you please clarify why so many (4) options for tires? Do they really make a difference? Would you say two options would not be enough? A bit confusing. Thanks for your comments!
The Nautilus is made in China. You keep repeating that the Nautilus has better electronics and better efficiency. So my question is where is the reliability of a car that has no real historical reference, since it started as a Lincoln MKX and later it was renamed into what it is now. The bkck label Nautilus is the most expensive, easily placing right next to the executive trim Lexus RX350. While the Nautilus at that level does have more HP, i just dont see reliability and because the Nautilus does not have sell many units a year. One has to wonder how easy it is to fix, foing to dealership can be expensive. In terms of the quality of plastics, paint, electronics and options in the car, one has to wonder if they will go 10 or more years without problems and if the engine offers ease of access for working when service is needed. While you mention the hatch maximizes space that is a great selling point. To the demise of Lincoln, i dont believe this car would hold long term value as the way all lexus models do. I still see Rx300 on the road and those cars are well over 20 yr old. The amount of electronics this car has only increases malfunctions and electronic gremlins. This is something that i can see will have to be tested long term specially in the cold weather and ling term. By the way not that it matters but i drive a 20- MdX with SH- AWD. Only i had to do is oil changes, brakes, regular maintenance and the 100k tine up with new belts and water pump. While My car 115k miles, interiors materials are holding up well and my mechanic tells me i can go another 100k miles with no issues. I am not sure if I buy a Nautilus, i will have the same luck. Great review.
Love your reviews, Alex, but would like to hear a bit more about expected/historical reliability. "Past results are no guarantee of future returns" but -- BUT -- past reliability is the best single predictor of future reliability. Love the look of that but Lexus QC is simply better.
Who cares? Reliability isn’t why anyone buys a luxury car LOL You want the ultimate luxury of reliability? Get a Camry or something Besides Lexus quality is a thing of the past
I wonder how long this Lincoln can last - Feels like a Lexus when you buy it, Acts like a Lincoln when you drive it...... fails like a Ford after 2 years?
@@naveenthemachine My Ford Mach-E had numerous issues and recalls before its batteries died at 6K miles. After spending 11 weeks in its stealership, it was repurchased by Ford. Lucky me~~~
I had the same thought… like, you’re not buying a Lexus for the performance. You’re buying a Lexus because it’s absolutely solid and unlikely to be the cause of any major headaches.
Having driven the Nautilus and ridden in the Lexus I have to agree that the Lincoln is far and away more refined than this current generation Rx. I hope that the Lincoln proves to be more reliable than the last generation Lincoln
Wrong. Alex is right. Facts show that the RX is subpar compared to just about every other competitor. It’s not bias. Put up an RX against and 100% chance the RX would objectively get destroyed
Comparing its Black Label (4 Cyl Hybrid and Made In China) to Lexus GX (V6 Hybrid and Made In Japan) Overtrail+/Luxury+, the GX is only $5k more so the GX's top trim surely feels better value.
I look forward to the day when Ford gets it's act together and resurrects the Thunderbird again only do a better job this time. Ford and Chev have the best nameplate history to draw on for future models.....
No, they were 23. A reserve they had on the lot with the perfect position seat and a base model with the cheaper seat. Was a little bit better but still high. The explorer they had on the lot didn’t have that issue. Was the only reason we didn’t buy one.
I love the look of the Nautilus, not a huge fan of the interior, the interior comes across as screen overload to me but I can see how some people like it. Recently took my mum to test drive a bunch of cars, we looked at the RX500h and 350h, took a look at the Nautilus hybrid, XC60 hybrid, and RDX, first thing both of us noticed was how “gruff” the 2.0T hybrid system felt in the Nautilus compared to the RX500h, my mum specifically said it, it did not sound or feel smooth at all, and I generally agree, the 2.4t in the RX was definitely a smoother experience and even comparing the 350h which also has an E-CVT, they were about the same with the Lexus transition between electric and hybrid mode being smoother, although the Lincoln wa faster compared to the 350h. The RDX was just too small, old and a little cheap feeling compared to the rest. Ultimately we settled on test driving the XC60 and RX500h again. We prefer the infotainment in the RX, but the Volvo definitely felt a little more upscale. It’s unfortunate the 500h only comes in black, red or white on the inside, the 350h luxury we sampled has like a cream with light brown wood interior trim and it looked amazing.
Great overview! Are there movable foot pedals that are saved with the driver memory settings, as well as the seat, mirror, and steering wheel positions?
Alex, great review as per usual, and a very intriguing vehicle! How much of the 48" screen can you allocate to Apple CarPlay? It didn't look like it was very much, but I'm hoping there is the ability to make the map occupy quite a bit more space on the way-back (48") screen. And I agree with you that the 360 degree camera display should occupy more of the screen. I wonder if it's the same size as the Apple CarPlay map display...
Another good report from Alex. To copy Rivian and have the air vents control on the screen is absurd, but more than anything, dangerous. Similarly, the piano keys CVT box control is too far away from the driver. I drove a Camry Hybrid for 12 years and 102,000 miles. I used the "L' button or as Toyota call it, "B' (for brake) many times when I needed to maintain traction or slow without using the footbrake and it worked well. To have to reach over to the far right button for this is also absurd. I drive a 2018 MKX 3.7 and it really handles and drives well. Ford have been cracking the handling/ride situation well for years, starting in Europe in 1990 with the Mondeo.
Pretty sure Alex would expire if he ever mentioned Genesis as a luxury competitor to other luxury brands. I mean he brings up a Jeep but not a Genesis product in his luxury SUV comparisons.
Alex, when you have someone with you, what's the reason for not discussing the vehicle with them on camera? Did you have more time with the vehicle than Travis? Do videos with multiple people discussing the vehicle not do as well? Not that this video was missing anything. I'm just curious.
no, leave it. Alex talks too fast, and a second guy just reflects, or tries to say it in a different way. No one can bounce along with Alex; your suggestion might be good for 2 guys who have equally strong personalities but with opposite opinions in an attempt to add humor and make it entertaining, but that wouldn't work with Alex and Travis. We go to Alex for the facts and the numbers; not for entertainment.
I’m curious how the drive and acceleration (for merging into the road) compares to the V6 2023 model. I opted for the 2023 model as it was on a deep discount, and I liked it more when test driving both top-spec options. But I’m curious what a knowledgeable person has to say about them.
We’re not buying a Chinese made car for full price or even higher than the competition! …it’s $75K you don’t even get ventilated rear seats! You can get those in $48K Hyundai Palisade.
I’m not okay with either, thank you. However I don’t have to take out a loan to purchase. I know those are from China. Ford has been an American company since 1903. The profit margin is massive now and as a consumer, I’m not paying or playing that game.
That turbo engine is it what everyone think it is I have a 2021 and it isn't the greatest and it definitely eats up gas even if you get the 2.7 supercharged turbo all wheel drop I will say this car looks more futuristic and somewhat plain and a little bit of overkill in the computer area

Nitpicking it, visually and I believe in it's actual dimension, the steering wheel is oddly shaped. It's not flat nor oval. The curve at the top is not the same as the bottom. Practically, doesn't this flat top make it feel awkward to hold the steering wheel with one hand where you grab it at the top center? Especially when turning it, the trajectory won't be a full circular motion. Please tell me this oddly shaped steering wheel actually works better than the regular one in real life.

@@LSDOGWALKER I would even rather have a ten year old Lexus over a one year old ford. And if you look at reliability data I’m not even exaggerating.
Fantastic review, much appreciated, what about the voice control feature?
It looks like a great luxury SUV, but being built in China for me is a deal breaker and I hope it is for a lot of other people as well. Why can't they build them here, especially when other German luxury brands do.
I cant get past the "made in china" factor from a company named Lincoln.
Doesn’t interfere with Buick’s Envision sales. Do you boycott all other items made in China? Doubt it…
@danschubring7957 right? I bet he's probably typing this on a "made in China" iPhone.

@@danschubring7957you cannot afford anything on such league or above therefore you dont care
You know made in China actually is advantage of this car .
The new Nautilus is substantially better than I thought it would be.
Agree with concerns on Chinese build quality. Also will all this tech “just work?” Beautiful SUV though!
Oh man, whew!
Read the title and thought "What could possibly be better than a GX460??"
Then I realized you were comparing it to the RX, & now I understand why the comparison is fair.
Well anything is better than the gx
When I first saw that screen on the commercial, I was like "That's a pretty cool concept." Then I realized it's a real car that you can actually buy... Lincoln, you're on the map again. This is cool.
I enjoy your videos immensely. Extremely detailed & well explained. However, I wish you’d discuss the most important detail. That being a vehicles long term reliability. If the vehicle is new or completely redesigned, mention it’s predecessor’s reliability.
for that you go to Consumer Reports!
Nice Bob James reference on the stereo. Adds to an overall good review.
Take a look at the Corsair (Kentucky built) or Aviator (Chicago built)
I have a problem with a car that is manufactured in a country that has nuclear weapons aimed at the US. US allies? Not so much. The Lexus I want is a RX 450h+. And the 37 miles of all electric range.
No you don’t 😂.
If you want a Lexus head over to your Genesis dealer and drive a gv80
I want to know how reliable the info display is, a fender bender and insurance will total the car.
Reliable? Do you mean durable? This isn't a fragile piece of equipment, it would have to be a major accident to damage the screen and in that case the vehicle would be totalled anyway. -Travis
I wish this wasn’t made in China. I’d still take it over a Genesis though.
You're out of your mind.

Great design and great value. Love the extra space! Can you please clarify why so many (4) options for tires? Do they really make a difference? Would you say two options would not be enough? A bit confusing. Thanks for your comments!
Absolutely gorgeous. They did a great job here. Wow.
Alex, consider an option of showing the lights at night, the effect should be more pronounced than if shown during daylight.
I feel like Lincoln and Lexus should collaborate. Let Lexus engineer it. Let Lincoln style it.
Lincoln knows how to engineer. Their hybrid powertrain is better than the Lexus, he says so in the video

While
My car 115k miles, interiors materials are holding up well and my mechanic tells me i can go another 100k miles with no issues.
Love the look of that but Lexus QC is simply better.
honestly, that’s my biggest deterrent to Lincoln
Who cares? Reliability isn’t why anyone buys a luxury car LOL
You want the ultimate luxury of reliability? Get a Camry or something
Besides Lexus quality is a thing of the past
Camry and Lexus are both Toyota. It makes no sense to say one is reliable and the other isn’t.
New powertrain, gear train, infotainment, and a 48 volt architecture? How can you predict reliability?
You can still get a Camry without turbo . For Lexus you have to know how to choose your model and avoid turbos.
I wonder how long this Lincoln can last - Feels like a Lexus when you buy it, Acts like a Lincoln when you drive it...... fails like a Ford after 2 years?
Any car will be reliable as long as you take care of it.
Not so ... reliability ratings have consistently tanked. Consumer Reports ratings for 2024: Lexus #5, Lincoln #21
@@naveenthemachine My Ford Mach-E had numerous issues and recalls before its batteries died at 6K miles. After spending 11 weeks in its stealership, it was repurchased by Ford. Lucky me~~~

@@TMish73829Lexus is no longer solid. Their latest models have very cheap interiors
Having driven the Nautilus and ridden in the Lexus I have to agree that the Lincoln is far and away more refined than this current generation Rx. I hope that the Lincoln proves to be more reliable than the last generation Lincoln
Lincoln SUVs have been reliable. I don’t even think you’re old enough to know what an unreliable car is but you have to go back to the 80s.
I remember you called the MKX when it came out "floaty boaty", Does this also feel the same?
This one is more buttoned down, but it's still on the softer side like the Lexus RX. Something like an X3, GLC, XC60, etc are firmer.
How does this compare to the genesis gv80?
Alex, You started this video with a bold statement bordering on the bombastic and you are going to get plenty of 'bold' comments to answer it. 😉
Wrong. Alex is right. Facts show that the RX is subpar compared to just about every other competitor. It’s not bias. Put up an RX against and 100% chance the RX would objectively get destroyed
That’s funny that they sell 10X more Lexus RX though. I wonder why that is??
@@wallbangerzsports People tend to listen to the hype. The amount sold doesn't make it the right choice for everyone.

They suck.
The insider door release handles are very similar to the older Lincolns and Imperials from the ‘60s.
Do you know if the lane centering is on without cruise on as in Kia and Hyundai ? That is such a nice feature not having to turn on the cruise.
I still like physical buttons for AC. The TESLA buttonless style is so anti-ergonomic

Anything beats the RX. Literally anything
How’s the seating position? I drove an Aviator recently and it felt like I was sitting on a barstool. Seat wouldn’t adjust very low.
did you drive the 2025 Aviator that is just now out?
No, they were 23. A reserve they had on the lot with the perfect position seat and a base model with the cheaper seat. Was a little bit better but still high. The explorer they had on the lot didn’t have that issue. Was the only reason we didn’t buy one.
Good looking front end. Clean and elegant.
What is “luxury” anyway? Reliability? Highest number of screens? More leather and wood? Electric door handles? I’m so lost.
Reliability no way

It's basically the same but over 75% of the RX and Nautilus are leased so it probably doesn't make much difference.

I don't think I heard you quite mention it, or maybe you called it something else, but doesn't the Nautilus Hybrid have a CVT?

@@AAutoBuyersGuide that’s what I feared, based on the lack of mention in the video. Thanks!
All you can do is have the map on the upper screen.
I absolutely love it. Amazing car.
Nothing says quality better than a Lincoln. 😂😂
Pretty sure Alex would expire if he ever mentioned Genesis as a luxury competitor to other luxury brands. I mean he brings up a Jeep but not a Genesis product in his luxury SUV comparisons.
