    Not to fuel the fire...but you could buy a P-07, with a Cajun Gun Work's Pro Package installed with night sights for roughly the same price as the 229 Enhanced Elite.... For those who say the CZ isn't on the same level as Sig, no offense, after a CZ is worked over, it truly is above any Sig I have shot. Just my opinion.

    • @KSGunGuy01

      Great thoughts Ryan! I agree under normal circumstances, the P07 is a huge savings as compared to the Sig. That said, Sig started out selling these P229s for around $700 and if you looked hard enough, you could find them for less. I think they've come up since then but it was a steal at the time. It's hard to beat a Cajonized CZ though! Thank you and cheers!

      I agree with you 100% and lets face it you can put an upgraded trigger on the p07 and still not be over the MSRP price for the Enhanced Elite I have however found them on clearance as cheap as $599.00 but most are still going for $750 and up. Which means that you would still have money left over for ammo with the CZ ;)

    Good video KS. I'm gonna go with the CZ P-07 over the Sig. And yes my bias is playing a lot into that decision. However there are other reasons. The P-07 IMHO just offers more. The big one for me, better controllability due to the axis of the slide and its reciprocation being so close to the centerline of the bore. Even in 40 the P-07 is just easier to shoot that the 226. Both pistols are great and there are definitely no losers in either choice. But for me. The CZ is the easy choice.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I completely agree Matteo! The P07 rides incredibly low while shooting. Once you get your grip situated, it's ready to run and shoots very flat. I think the ergos are just fine with it as well. Thank you as always and cheers brother!

    If you're looking around for a BB pistol I would recommend this one th-cam.com/users/postUgkxnX9wE_Q8zvF75Y5iWzTU3Q4FlrtyGApQ . I ordered two BB pistols from Dan Wesson and this one is so much nicer than the other one. It's a well built gun. Can't say that about the other one. I thought the Mag was pretty easy to load. I also just lock the spring back and fill up the hole with 16 BB's with no sweat. Easily remove the rear part of the handle from the bottom with the Mag removed to access the CO2 chamber. Sweet. Very nice painted sights on both ends. Doesn't have blowback but the gun is rated at 410 fps the blowback edition is 365 fps.Didn't really know much about BB guns before but now I see that Umarex makes some fine BB guns. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer CO2 air pistol than this one I think. Just seems flawless. It even states on the packaging Glock perfection. I think my next Airgun may very well be an Umerex. Oh and if you really want a blowback (don't think amazon sells the Glock w/blowback) you might consider the Beretta APX by Umarex. But that gun is only rated at 310 fps. All things being equal, if it were me I'd buy the Glock again in a heartbeat :)

I've had the P07 for a couple of years, and it's a fantastic EDC in every respect except my P365 is so much smaller, lighter, and much easier concealed with 13..... They're all excellent!

    I carry a CZ-P07. It's a great gun for me. My only complaint about it is that because the slide fits inside the frame there is less slide to grab onto. Hence, I have a Sig P229 on the way. In any case, I will not get rid of my CZ-P07.

      Just a training issue, or strength issue, I thought prior to taking to the range during dry fire snap caps. That I would have problems at the range with the side myself, but I didn't have any issues, but I have high finger and grip strength. I train weapon martial arts so no problem for me. I've even seen girls shooting the p09, with the same impressions as I, practice more with it it'll get more intuitive over time. (I own the p09)

    I have both of these great guns and am still on the fence over which one is "the One". I like the 229 because of it's history of reliability and it's built like a tank. I like my P07 Duty because it feels perfect in my hand and it's untouched trigger feels better than my Sig's with SRT. The only thing keeping them equal is the crappy sights and low options available for the P07.

    While I have not shot the P07 specifically and I have not shot the light alloy framed 229, I have owned both a Standard CZ75 9mm and a 229 Sig. Both are outstanding weapons by two of the top manufacturers in the industry. I will say this I have tortured the snot out of my CZ's 4800 rounds without cleaning and lubing just to see if I could make it fail and it fed and extracted every type of garbage ammo I could throw at it with zero hiccups and maintained accuracy. The Sig began to whine at 2300 with stove pipes and failures to feed. I love both but at the end of the day the CZ withstood twice the abuse without issue. I have had a CZ 40B that I kept completely stock, that I bought back in 03 at Kay's for $289.00 brand new in the box with 2 mags. I put over 40,000 rounds through it with zero maintenance issues and zero malfunctions. So when people quibble over a sub 300 pistol thinking it must be junk, I have to laugh because the guy I sold my CZ 40B to, has since put 25,000 rounds through it himself and says it just keeps running and is accurate at POA. Here is my thoughts there are 3 gun platforms that are the most copied in the world those being CZ-75 and variants, Sig P226-229 and variants, and Browning's 1911 45acp. That speaks volumes. Now when it comes down to Poly Striker fired pistols Glock is the originator and most every pistol in that category owes some design cue to the Glock but that does not by any stretch mean that Glock is the best because quite honestly there are others with better ergonomics and trigger systems. Just my opinions from experience that and 10 cent still won't buy a cup of joe so take it for what you will.

      Question... How would you compare the grip angles of the CZ P01 & P07 to each other and to a Sig P229? ... If I am taking my time to aim and fire, grip angle is no big deal. But, I have found my natural grip angle puts a 1911 right on target. And, if I extend my wrist down so that my index finger points at the target, a Glock points 'just right.' What I've found is, my Sig 229 is in the middle. B/c of that, it is harder to consistently put my sights on target when I draw and fire with speed.

    • @andrewtody1966
      @andrewtody1966 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking Intently as an owner of both brands, I can assure you, you won't be disappointed. The CZ P01 is actually closer(alloy framed) to the 229. But the p07 def has merit with the reduced weight. Something about the curvature of the p01 makes me a fan...wasn't sure about the fat grips on it...but being able to change the look and feel certainly adds an interesting aspect as well.

    Thank you for your excellent videos as always. I had to subscribe! I am in the market for a smaller gun for my daughter and because of you, I narrowed it down to the Sig P229R, m&p 9 shield, and sig p238. She handled all three, and chose..... the sig p229r! I have not purchased it, and neither has she actually shot it admittedly, but I will be getting next overtime pay. The pawn shop we went is asking $979... yikes! I am in no rush so will be shopping around. But again thanks to you and all the other reviewers on TH-cam who seemed to like the 3 guns I mentioned for females...

    I owned both the P07 suppressor ready model and the P229. I sold the P07 and went with the P229. My P229 was a standard P229 made in Germany and for me it was the better firearm.

    • @francostacy7675
      @francostacy7675 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info but can you explain why it was better because I am looking at the 229? Also you mention it was a german SIG, are you claiming that I wouldnt be able to buy a quality SIG today?

    • @frankgonzalez3822
      @frankgonzalez3822 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@francostacy7675 I meant the P226 was a better firearm than the P07 for me. I also own a P229 and a P239. Mine are older models made in Germany. From Quality, I don't think it makes a difference, but with the caveat that I have never shot a USA Sig. It should be fine as it is an established design. Made in Germany appears to be more valuable as a collector piece.
      The P229 is a good gun. It is time proven. Air marshals carried them and might still carry them. The P226 would be better for competition.
      The P229 will be a bit heavy. I do recommend a good holster (don't go cheap).

    I love CZ’s .... I have the P07 and the all steel CZ 75B. These are in my collection and I’m a big fan of CZ quality. I must admit that I don’t have a Sig (other than the MPX) but can’t fathom that I’d get rid of my CZ’s. Love how they shoot. I agree with you on the CZ. Both are premium pistols but the cost of the Sig doesn’t justify choosing it over the CZ. Also with some very minor and very low cost spring changes the trigger pull weights for da/sa can be reduced 40-50%

I guess I should be thankful I buy her one I get two for the same price lol.. I do wish everyone put night sights as standard sights on defensive/combat/duty pistols. Sig has already had that advantage. Their sa break has always been the cleanest around and only gets better after a few thousand rounds it starts to feel like a custom 1911 trigger.

    No doubt the Sig. The P07 is good for what it is but the Sig is in a class above. The smoothness of the trigger and if you have the short reset trigger in the Sig its top notch. Great vid 👍

      @KSGunGuy01  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @andrewtody1966
      @andrewtody1966 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Youngguns173SW I agree with you that it is "meant" to be in a class above, but not sure I agree. For the price you pay for the p229 you shouldn't have to spend more for the SRT. I understand choosing a side to justify a purchase, and I am a sig fan, owning several model handguns and rifles. But the fact if the matter is, you could send the p07 in to CGW and have them do a hammer/trigger job on it including the labor and still only be at 2/3 the price of the sig. Add to that the weight difference and the P07 is a clear winner to me. I don't have the 229, but I do have other Sig's starting at the p938 and going up to the p226. I also have two CZs with Omega triggers, and one without. Considering the price of some of the higher end CZs and how they function...I'm a fan of the CZs. Maybe it comes down to personal preference, but honestly If you look at the same money spent, the absolute only thing the sig wins at imho is the ease of racking the slide as there is much more real-estate. But even that is mitigated by the softer shooting lower bore axis. Some people say they can't feel the difference. I let my 115lb wife shoot my CZ after being a sig fan for years, and now I can't get my CZ back from her :( Anyways, great discussion. Cheers!

    • @kenkaufman9998
      @kenkaufman9998 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I own both as well, but I find the Sig trigger to be inferior to the CZ. I personally like the higher bore axis, but for some reason my CZ is more accurate. I have never had any issues with any ammo, and both always go bang. If I based my result on the trigger alone, the CZ wins hands down. To me the CZ wins as a carry gun, based on weight. But I will call it a draw, as I find I like to shoot the Sig. Both are quality made, but I find the SIg a notch above quality wise. If you compare the CZ to a Legion model the Sig's trigger is way better. If you look at price, the CZ is by far the better value.

    • @carolinabackwoodsgunclub6089
      @carolinabackwoodsgunclub6089 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      id go CZ all day any day. In this comparison..you could buy two CZs for what youd spend on one Sig. But lets compare apples to apples. If i were to have a CZ that cost as much as the Sig...possibly a Shadow or a Shadow 2.. then there is really no comparison at all. The CZ will shoot circles around the Sig.

    • @mikewilson436

      While I don't own a P229 I do own a P226 in a P220 so I'm no stranger to Sig, but the tested Sig P229 cost roughly three times as much as the PO7 and it absolutely positively is not three times the gun the PO7 is.

    Nice to know that the P-07 is very close to the P229. I used the M11 in the army, 90s, but don't feel like paying the cost that a P229 currently is. Very good comparison. I have the P-07 40 cal. 12 round mags 3 back straps and I use the middle one for a large hand. Here's the kicker though yeah the decocker is cool I suppose somewhat novel in a safety way however when you switch out the decocker for the safety on the CZ the Omega trigger is worth tons, good reset and very smooth.

    To keep things apples to apples a better choose one comparison to the p229 would be the p01 and a better choose one comparison for the p07 would be the sp2022. In both cases I would take the Cz’s. Between the p229 and p07 I’d take the p229, probably my 3rd or 4th favorite handgun.

    I have the P09. It has never failed on any type of ammo in over 1100 rounds. Right now I am not even cleaning it because I want to see how far it can go. However after my first 200 rounds the gun failed and I had to send it back to manu. My DA trigger stopped working., the trigger did nothing. It still worked in SA, but not DA. Manu had it over 6 weeks and they replaced several parts. NOT HAPPY about that and it makes me doubt its reliability. The gun just broke for no reason and without any warning.
    Today I was in a gun shop and dry fired a SIG 229. In dry firing the SIg's DA trigger was much smoother than my CZ, not sure which was heavier but I want a heavy DA trigger for safety reasons. To me if felt like the SIGS SA trigger was better than my p09 but I didnt measure it but I know it was smoother. Now the reset on the SIG BLEW AWAY MY P09.. My cheap Taurus TX22 has a better reset than my CZ. Now the feel or grip and the sights of the SIG I like better than my p09 even though I have a lot of dry firing and a 11000 rounds on my CZ. I personally dont think the triggers on the CZs are horrible but they arent anything special either. Now someone will say send it to custom shop or cajun...well then it cost as much or more than a SIG, and I will be without it, plus the manu I am assuming would no longer honor its warranty and who knows what those modifications do to longevity or to the safety of the gun.
    Also the way I grip my gun, the bolt lock lever is huge and digs into my hand on the CZ. Not sure why its so big and I dont like it location. The SIG lever is better located and sized, but it has a mile of travel. Now, I dont like the price of the SIG....geez...really?
    So am on the web looking at SIG 229s. Maybe my next gun. IF the price was lower it would be a big hell yeah.
    I here all this about CZs....frankly I come to think its a lot of hype. I think a lot people just repeat what they have heard instead of owning and shooting it or being honest after they own it. I am just not that impressed to be honest. I have shot a SIG M17 and I could shoot that gun better than my CZ if I shot it slower but I did feel more muzzle flip in that SIG than my CZp09
    Now dont get me wrong, I am keeping my CZ as my home defense go to. But that SIG sure felt good but i have never shot a 229 and so the CZ is my full size home gun and I have a subcompact for conceal carry and the SIG could be my compact carry. Also considering a Bersa TPR9C....fellow gunners, give me some advice.

    • @DattMuffinMan
      @DattMuffinMan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The PO7 is notorius for two parts that WILL break under certain conditions. The captive roll pin for the firing pin(if dry fired excessively this applies to other models as well), and the trigger spring(It just breaks over time). If you get any CZ or have any on you, I do recommend looking into Cajun Gun Works. Though that isn't an option for everyone. No firearm is perfect.

    Can't argue with range results. The CZ group was considerably smaller. I think you were spot on when you said the CZ was more accurate because its slide sits lower and produces less muzzle flip.

    Great comparison! One thing that I've noticed with Sigs is that the triggers are fairly inconsistent from model to model. All are pretty good but some are excellent even on the base model guns. Even with a super trigger I'd still go with the CZ though. Great choice haha. I'll take that back. Completely stock the sig but if I can change the sights probably the CZ. I also like having the option to go SAO.

      Even within the 229 series there are major difference. I can go from meh to this feels like a custom trigger by someone that knows what they are doing. I wish there were dealers around me that carried large selections of sigs so I could try each trigger. I almost bought a P227 because the trigger was that good even though I didn't want the gun(and it was selling for sub $600). Still you can't beat the 2022 for the money.

    I know this is old now but excellent review. The P-07 is a really good gun by any standard but considering the price point it’s an excellent choice. Let’s face it, your EDC lives a rough life and if ever used will get taken from you. If I’m going to make a substantial investment in a handgun I’m probably not going to carry it around with me. All that and the double action is just a safe way to handle a weapon. You can guard the hammer when holstering. Also if you are excited and bringing it up to fire you’re not going to tap the trigger early. We are playing for keeps out here and these things must be considered. I also carry a Sig 365XL and a S&W 442 38 J frame, whatever fits my day best.

    Have several Sig’s, Rugers ……and a P-07.
    Really enjoy my Sig M-11 A-1 and the 07 is the new kid on the block.
    First time out with the 07 and shot it side-by-side with the Sig.
    When the smoke cleared, I was actually thinking about tossing the 07 in the river…..
    Didn’t like the trigger on double action…..and have no idea where the rounds went….!! ( did note the rear sight was NOT centered and I’ll own the rest…)
    Crossed the bridge going home…..and kept the 07.
    Decided to put some XS sights on it and put a few more rounds through it.
    Glad I did.
    Rounds are on target and the trigger is MUCH better. So much so, it’s a dead heat on a Merry-Go-Round as far as “keep only one” and the Sig vs P-07.

    Great video, but I think it's sort of unfair. I love both of these guns, but what I noticed is that I did not shoot as well with the E2 grips on my P229 Enhanced Elite, so I bought the original polymer ones for $25-$30, and now I can shoot it more accurately. These guns are both more inherently accurate [compared to many pistols], so it's more about dialing in the grip. Remember, comfort is not a synonym for ergonomics (which deals with efficiency). Glock, despite what most say, even Glock fanboys, IS a very ergonomic grip because its grip-angle forces canting & locking your wrist which makes it more stable in shooting (helping it to shoot flatter). Similarly, I have found that to be true of Glocks [changing the grip can make it more accurate]. I can't quite master the trigger as well with the standard (small) grip. I have to add either the medium or large to get the best results although Glocks in the small backstrapless state allow me to better manipulate the mag catch. You don't even necessarily have to shoot the gun to see the results. Watching your front sight while dry practicing is how I usually discover it. I can usually freeze the sight with any grip or backstrap, but I notice the ones that tend to be more consistent than the others. So as far as the P229 is concerned, dialing in the gun unfortunately means ordering and experimenting with different grips. That's when the tack driving comes in.

      Well said! I do think that Glocks are more ergonomic than many give them credit for. Changing your grip just a little to fit the gun you are shooting usually leads to a more positive experience at the range (or in other situations). Thank you and cheers!

    I would love to see your take between the P07 and FN 509 Midsize. Those are basically the two I'm torn between right now. I'm aching to move away from my Glock 22

    Great looking Sig! I am a fan of the classic P series Sigs and own a mid 1990s made P229 and love it. However, the CZs fit my hands better and if I had to chose one out of these two for actual use it would be the CZ as well. I have a P07 made in 2016 and it is outstanding. Only thing I would change on the P07 is I wish it had the grip texture of the M&P M2.0!

      Thank you very much Claymore! I agree, they are both great Guns indeed. The p07 could definitely use some extra texture. Cheers brother!

    I like your comparison, very similar handguns; I hate when people compare two guns that are totally different, but I get it, you compare what you have. One thing you didn't mention is the big price difference, like someone else mentioned you could have a Cajun Gun Works trigger job and night sights on the CZ for about the same price. I own the P07 and a Sig P226 and I would have to agree with your review, both are great, but the P07 is a little better to shoot.

      Thank you J! I agree that there can be a huge price difference between the guns although the P229 was picked up new for under $700 which brings it closer to the P-07 (though still several hundred dollars off). Either way, they are both great guns indeed. Thank you and cheers!

    Can you compare those two pistols along with a Rex Zero 1 compact, HK P30C, Beretta 92fs compact, and maybe also the FNS-9...and any other worth putting in that group?

    KS Gun.. Does the CZ and Sig have a kit to make it a decoder and safety. I'm kinda getting in to hammer single double action firearms. You didn't mention does the CZ and Sig have a ambi slide lock release i know you can move the mag release to the left on both of them. That's another thing I'm looking for left hand friendly firearms. If you have any suggestions on what firearms I should be looking at please give me a heads up. And like always great video and great information. Cheers My Friend.

      Thank you Anthony and great questions! The CZ does has a swap-able decocker/safety. Most come with both. As for the slide lock/release, neither guns are left hand friendly. The Sig decocker is also not swap-able. I would still recommend the CZ but there are also a lot of good striker fired guns out there that are very left hand friendly. Maybe M&Ps, Glock Gen 5, HK VP9, etc. Hope that helps and cheers!

    Great reveiw, Real close , I like the trigger reset & build on the Sig coupled with the decocker & hammer which is hallmark at a twitch of the thumb. Price? (Sig may loose on this).
