    Bought mine last spring and I absolutely love it. My first duty weapon was a P229. After 17 years of service my Dept replaced them with the Glock 22. We weren't allowed to purchase our old guns and I was suffering from p229 withdrawal. I like the Glock but missed my sig. Bought the legion and it felt like I was reunited with a long lost friend.

    To me, this is the PERFECT carry pistol. If you are worried about scratches, cerakote the slide and you're all set. The SA/DA action is the perfect gunfight pistol. I mean, lets be honest, this is why we carry in the first place, just hope it never happens. Great review!

    Love the P229. It's such a classic that has stood the test of time. There seems to always be proponents of the all metal pistols . . the P229 and P226. I spent most of my time with the striker fired polymer pistols. Finally I bought a P229 and spent time seriously shooting it. I get it . . what many experienced enthusiasts have been saying . . beating the drum for these classic sigs. I'm glad I tried them.

      I started off with polymer strikers also. I bought a Sig 2022 and loved it so much I bought a CPO p226. All I own now (7) are metal-framed hammers from CZ (9mm’s) and SIGs (in 40). #7 was a Sig 238 in 380. I just got talked into a 220 in 10...

    Last year I went to the range to break in my Sig P229 Elite Stainless & before I stepped out from the store part of the range & into the actual shooting range the owner calls out to me & said he had something he new I would love & he was right there was the Legion in P226 & P229 I couldn't resist once I held it & I'm so happy I bought it! Your video is a great video because you explained everything about the Legion & I was able to confirm first hand!

    I own a P229 Legion 9mm, it is my EDC weapon of choice for personal defense because of the Sig Sauer commitment to quality especially in the Legion series. I previously owned a P220 and although not a Legion, was thoroughly impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of Sig Sauer then during the latter part of the 1980’s and early 1990’s !

    I've owned a standard 229 and several other SIG pistols since each one became available and though I find my 229 a bit bulky for summer casual dress I still carry it as often as I'm able to conceal it. I've fired the 229 Legion at the range and for the extra several hundred SIG wants for the Legion I just do not see that its that much better, though I do admit it might be. I've fired lots of different hand guns and what I've decided is this; as long as your arm doesn't jamb and you like the system - even if it doesn't fit my hand perfectly - I won't put it back on the counter and walk away. As long as gun is accurate beyond my ability to shoot it and is a near fit - I believe your hand will adjust and I'd rather carry a SIG than anything else.

    Nice review. I own a couple of SIGs; P220 Elite Dark in .45 ACP and a P229 Legacy Slide in .357 SIG. The Legion series pistols are nice, but I think it's a marketing gimmick. Standard SIGs are superb. Also, just my philosophy, weapons are tools, so they're meant to be used; my P229 is my primary everyday carry.

    I have been carrying my P229 Legion for the past 2+ years and I Love it. I know for sure that if I need it it is going to work for me. I myself am not a collector and believe you should carry the weapon you shoot the best and by far that would be my P229, even if by carrying it, it will receive some character.

    I know some people love to criticize Sig's marketing of the Legion series, and to a certain extent, I get it. But if you put that aside and just focus on the hardware, this is a truly fantastic gun and not over-priced in my opinion. If you look at upgrading a standard P229 to this level (and there would still be some things you couldn't get, like the undercut trigger guard), or if you were to compare the details on a Legion P229 to say, a CZ Shadow 2, it's totally in the ballpark of what you should expect to pay for a gun with this level of quality and details. I've shot a fair number of Sigs and other DA/SA guns, and they've really nailed it with these - all the desired refinements are there. At the same time, this isn't just a fancy, delicate range toy - it will take just about whatever you want to throw at it, within reason, just like every other P-series gun I've owned.
    I got mine on a trade-in, and I'm not sure I could have brought myself to pay full retail for one, but I don't plan to ever let go of mine now that I have it. it's the nicest shooting pistol I own.

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a great gun indeed! I do agree that it’s well appointed but on the high end for a p series. That said, it’s a sweet shooter. Thank you and cheers!

      B. Smithhammer people buy guns for all kind of reasons, otherwise why does anyone need more than one right? I bought a CZ shadow 2 because I liked the blue grips and the dealer didn’t have the Sig R5 P220 stainless I was looking for ! I am wanting a Legion too but can’t decide whether to get the p226 or P229. I have a p226 navy with the little anchor so I am leaning toward the p229.

    I went to my local gun store shopping for a CZ a while back. I ended up throwing a Legion in the mix and just couldn’t accept CZ’s triggers after that. It just felt so good, and that reset! It was $1,000.00 and I almost got it, but it was a SAO model and I was looking for DA/SA. Ended up getting a P320 TACOPS for cheap because of the recall. I still think about that Legion trigger...

    This is one of my favorites, I do carry it IWB @ 4:00. It's pushing the max limit on weight and thickness for me and some days it's too much. I am a trigger snob and I probably over emphasize the value of a short reset, so this legion is #1. That trigger is what makes me carry this gun and not leave it as a collector. I'm curious, with your exposure to variety, is there anything comparable in trigger/shoot ability that's thinner and lighter? Like a p-01 or p-07?

    • @KSGunGuy01
      @KSGunGuy01  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm very impressed Mike! I don't think I could carry the 229 comfortably. As for triggers, the Legion is about one of the best in the DA/SA world and the guns that come to mind that are on par are all striker like the PPQ, P10, and Steyr. Thank you and cheers!

    I have a 229 legion and I have noticed some issues. The coating leaves alot to be desired, it does wear poorly and that slide lock is horrible. A slightly bigger slide lock would be nice. Other than that,it's a fast easily controlled shooter. Being an old heavy fellow I can still get 3 rounds on target from concealment in 1.5 seconds. All A zone hits at 3 yds.

    MecGar mags are the best and you can find decent deals on them online...they usually add capacity too without adding to the length of the grip...i have a P226 MK25 with SRT and its all i run in them...brings capacity to 18 + 1 with no extension to the grip.
