maybe add some mix of water lilies? and maybe some grass like crypts - balansae? all in rusty/red colors some reddish pencil fish or some blue-eyed pseudomugil - someone from top dwelling types of fish
Maybe one more big architectural plant, my Amazon sword now fills the centre of my 4ft tank. As for fish, I'm a fan of gouramis so perhaps a group of honeys 😀
Id say a spot of color would do it good but i dont really know what to recomend maybe a few colombian tetras for plants id just stick witht he current choices
Would be great to see another FSM and MD collab. Maybe one vid for this channel and one for his? A annual reunion collab with trips to Martin in Taunton would be amazing fan service.

I did enjoy this video. I love lots of wood in the aquarium. I find wood just makes the scape beautiful, & more interesting. I would add just a couple of more plants, but just a couple. It always makes me sad to see a beautiful scape of wood, & rock, then get so over planted that you can barely see any of the wood. Aaaaachooo..md haha jk 😉 I’m enjoying the vibe of this channel, so thank you. It may be interesting to see you do a maintenance session on that filter, when it needs it.
Love this build. I will be honest, when you first described it, I wasn’t sure I would like it, but I really like it. It turned out so nice. I absolutely love the Cory’s. My all time favorite is the Sterbai, but my new favorites are the Venezuelan Red Sails or Orange and the Venezuelan Blacks. Both of my groups have now spawned and I have had babies survive which is so fun. My Blacks surprised me. I didn’t know they had spawned and I caught movement out of the corner of my eye and found a tiny little baby. There could be more in the tank that I can’t see as it is heavily planted and scaped with tons of hiding places. I built the tank for a pair of Angels (don’t know the sex yet, but I suspect they may be a pair because of their behavior) and the Venezuelan Black Cory’s. I later got a chance to get a trio of L134 Leopard Frog plecos. I highly recommend these pelvis as they stay small (3-inches max) and they are social for plecos. May come out and eat with the Cory’s all the time. They are also a beautiful black and white/cream stripped little pleco. I have my fingers crossed I have a male and female and they breed as they are a lovely size for aquariums. I have pleco cave in this tank too that 2 of the plecos have claimed, so fingers crossed they are males. I have one more baby L134 in another tank to grow out that I will add to my group eventually. Anyway, love the new scape and another great video. Thank you! Love your channel. Quick question, what light are you running on this tank?
Thank you so much! I do also love the Venezuelan colour variants they're lovely! It's great they're getting on so well for you. I haven't seen a leopard frog for sale in a while but they're lovely fish! The light is a fluval plant 3.0 with 3d printed risers to lift the light off the tank.
Great video,I think those big rocks behind both woods don't look natural at all a large plant would look better but love your videos. Been keeping fish for 35 years and still love it.
No matter how big or how waterlogged the wood, I will always glue it to rocks. Better safe than sorry. 😅 These huge filters never cease to amaze me. That "new" pre-filter pipe was already part of the 250T is got 6 months ago. I got some Aquario in- and outlets to replace the original "square" piping (when I get around to it). I love these kind of setups. The twigs work really well with the dragon wood. Certainly gave me some ideas. This tank has a good vibe already, but I think some big Anubias here and there will make it even better.
Have not finished watching the video, but recently I prefer putting spraybars vertical - nice even waterflow all over the aquarium, looks really natural IMO - give it a try. Greetings from Germany!
Great video! Love using river rocks in my aquariums...we are fortunate to have two creeks on our property and the only cost is the time to collect and clean them!
Awesome timing as I am going to be getting my 1st OASE canister in less than 1 hour 😁 I have been having a lot of success with my 107 & 307 but thoroughly regretted not spending the money on the OASE because I need to get my hands on the pre filter and that's totally worth the increased price . I'll wish you al the very best with the new one and I know that you have a great idea for the hardscape and I think it's a great place for some flowing Blyxa japanica 💚🌱
Im loving your tank. The twigs and botanicals are great! Another vote from me for anubias; i have a large one in my tank and my corys love perching on the leaves 😍
I usually prefer tanks that have a lot more plants but this scape just looks sooo good and the fish are amazing as well. I recently remodeled one of my older tanks as well and am now looking for some nice schooling fish to pair up with my pearl gouramis.
Well, since you asked, I would like some greenery underneath the water lettuce. It could just be one more stalk of your tree-like plant, which would keep it in a Fibonacci sequence. I am thinking out loud- three different bottom dwellers and two different mid-tank dwellers (I could be mistaken): that is five different kinds of fish. So, to keep with Fibonacci, either more black finned tetras, or three more kinds of fish. 😉
@ Yes they are lovely fish. You got me back into the hobby about a year ago. I set up a tank with Diamonds and Cardinals. I have had three baby diamonds so far!
Thank you! I have a lot of comments regarding my choice of music. To be honest I just trawl through epidemic sounds looking for chilled music I like. I'll make a playlist public soon so everyone can see the music.

I am so glad, Oase has taken some of the coments from Pond Guru and the users, This will stop us drilling more holes in the old style one. Can we buy the new pre filter pipes separately?. Great video again, great bit of learning. Well done Matt , keep the lessons going.
Thank you! Yeah it's great to see progression. I think what people forget is a company cannot just go and release an upgrade or change to a product without a lot of testing. Imagine if they released it and a year down the line every filter started to break. It would be disastrous for everyone involved. I believe all the parts will be available separately as I've seen a few people already upgrading their old ones.
Wow! Thank you for watching! That's commitment watching at 2:00 a.m. I definitely plan to do an iwagumi in the garage. It might even end up in the house as Katie loves to look of that style of tank
Looks fabulous mate. I collect cones and leaves when I'm walking the dogs lol. I think you've sold me on the oase filter, gonna treat my fish in the living room to one lol

Have you got one of them living filers they are so cool. Is that a live filter? And they had all the snails and the cleaner fish... as you can see I'm an expert
Great scape! Like the idea with the twigs on the wood. I need just to say this about Oase biomaster i do have a 600 thermo in it box in the garage. I listen to all youtubers and scapers a few years ago what a great filter this was. I was so disapointed of rhe biomaster, Sure i did nog mind the noisiness and i like the prefilter and the plastic. But it never stopped blowing airbubbles every 5 minutes. I tried everything and i mean everything but i never got i sorted. After that i bought a aquael hypermax and i tell you this much i never go back. So good about the upgrades but i think they never should released the old version. Thats just my opinion.
Thank you! Oh that's really interesting, to be honest I've ran loads for these filters in and out of the shop and never had that issue. The air must have been leaking in from somewhere as eventually it should have purged everything out of the system and stopped blowing bubbles. Sounds like there may have been an issue somewhere, I've seen a crack in a pipe so this before. Wasn't on an oase but where the pipes returned to the tank one of them had a tiny split and would suck in air as the water passed over it.
hi matt! been wanting to ask - would you recommend putting a school of chili/phoenix rasboras in a 10 inch cube tank? the volume is around 4.33 gallons/16.39 liters and it's heavily heavily planted. the internet seems to be divided on this! thanks 😁
You will definitely get loads of garage videos. Currently clearing and having some structural work done. Once that's out the way we will start moving tanks into there. Hopefully December!!!!
I recently upgraded the filter on my 280lt, was using the 3rd hand Betta 1050 which was a bit under powered and had started rattling! Got the Betta 1620 with uv, and for about a third of the cost of the oase, it's a great bit of kit.
Very nice scape. I hope you will do a scape with Tropheus species. Would be interesting and not something you see a lot. What is the name of the substrate..looks really good!
Great video as usual Matt, how about some Pearl or lace or Neon Gourmi, Dwarf Blue Gourmis, clown loaches, Bristlenose Catfish, Congo Tetras, Cardinal Tetras, Neon Tetras, Black Phantom Tetras, Ruby barbs, Harlequin rasbora, Serpae Tetras , Glass bloodfin Tetra, Odessa barbs , Rummynose Tetras. lake Kubutu Rainbow fish. Grin I have a busy community tank and all are happy together no issues at all. BTW Matt, found a possible home for those Sailfin Dalmatian Mollies (bloody things had another batch 2 days ago) will be taking them to Perth next week a person is supposed to be picking them up on the 6th Nov for his 10 foot tank at least 150 Mollies lol... I’ve got an older Oase BioMaster thermo but I do have the latest pre filter pipe on it. I get that you can change out the pre filter sponges to different one’s but as it takes like 2 mins to clean the sponges, I don’t get the point of the 10 ppi sponges. Surely that means the main canister needs cleaning more often due to the coarser pre filter sponges not trapping most of the dirt from the tank. If the new style pump head is quieter and it solves the trapped air some folk complain about with some of these filters, then that’s a good thing. I’m wondering what it costs compared to the older model though. That will determine what one I will go for in a few weeks time. Fantastic set up though Matt 👌
Thank you! Yeah I tend to agree I will be getting some finer sponges for the pre filter. I've never really suffered a problem with air being trapped but I've seen a few people talk about it so it's brilliant oase have listened and sorted it. I'm not sure on pricing to be honest but it will definitely be worth having a look around to see which works out best.
@ I’ve never had any issues with mine and think they are fantastic filters and I’ve used many over the years. Anyways, the videos and content are all really enjoyable and always a good watch Matt 👍
Always curious between you and MD fish tanks what pitchers you guys use in your build videos! I’ve been looking all over for one just like it yet can’t find anything ! If you have any info that would be awesome. Keep up the awesome work, love the videos!
Theres a school of thought that say the inlet and outlet should be on the same side. Like you, I place mine on opposite sides, but that's due to to the lid of my tank only accomodating one inlet/outlet each side. Have you looked into the performance differences of each setup? Thanks.
Hope your 850 is better than mine mate. Nothing but problems with mine from day one and Oase customer service has been absolutely shocking. 30+ years of fish keeping and never had such a bad experience! Lovely tank though and great to see some Festive cichlids coming back into fashion 😊
Awww man I'm sorry to hear that. This will be my second one currently running in the house and I've run multiples in and out of the shop. Never really had an issue with them, always been fairly reliable for me.
@@FishShopMattthere’s a manufacturing fault on the primer pump that I didn’t notice for a couple of months after getting it. It has resulted in trouble priming and air noise. Their answer is for me to send the whole filter back or buy the part I want 🤷🏻♂️
Can't decide if the colour of the sand is ruining this for me or it's the light making it look a bit orange. Definitely think just 1 nice plant on the right on the mound would look good though.
I have a couple of old videos on the subject about treatments but with the quarantine tank all is explained in this video. th-cam.com/video/jlR7axyjrYE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OVNr8hKpKhhXX4jZ
Hi Matt, a question please, when I do a water change on my tanks I pump my water into a 110 litre barrel (I have 5 of them) after a couple of days I go to the barrel with a fine net and collect roughly 3/4 of a teaspoon of mosquito wrigglers out, take them to the sink give them a quick wash in the net, back in the jug a bit of water in it and using a turkey baster share them between the 2 fish tanks all the fish go mad on the live food, it gives them a bit of enrichment, protein and it's free food for me. I do that usually twice before the next water change but after I do the last scoup I then use the fish water on the plants and they are going mad. I have been doing this for about 6 weeks now, coming into summer it maybe more often as the weather heats up. Am I correct in thinking that Blood worms are mozzie wrigglers? They look exactly like the frozen cubes of them, but as this idea I use is so simple and a free resource that maybe those people who sell frozen "Blood Worms" don't want us to know as to do themselves out of a profiting business? Tony from Rural Western Australia 🇦🇺 🦘
Let's hear what your suggestions are for the next fish in this aquarium? Or does it even need more plants?

Hi Matt, you mentioned Alder Cones. I was walking the dog today and gathered thousands, this time of year is when to get your free botanicals 👍
Yeah irritatingly my local area is a bit rubbish for botanicals for some strange reason. Loads of conkers and chestnuts, I'll have to go exploring.
😊 Lovely aquarium, love your videos. (Did you see the spider escape from the root when filling with water) 31:57 ish 😂
Yes I did, I ended up rescuing about five or six spiders that crawled out of the wood. Some friendly looking some not so friendly looking.

Have you got one of them living filers they are so cool. Is that a live filter? And they had all the snails and the cleaner fish... as you can see I'm an expert
Hahaha this will have lots of things added over the coming months. This filter will slowly become more alive as time goes on.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Wasn't on an oase but where the pipes returned to the tank one of them had a tiny split and would suck in air as the water passed over it.
hi matt! been wanting to ask - would you recommend putting a school of chili/phoenix rasboras in a 10 inch cube tank? the volume is around 4.33 gallons/16.39 liters and it's heavily heavily planted. the internet seems to be divided on this!
thanks 😁
Love the scape, love the black phantoms too, I have 10 of them in my tetra community tank
They're beautiful and my boys are already sparring hahaha
@@FishShopMatt always fun to see
Very very nice
Anyone know what sand that is??
Matts not answering.
Love this aquarium Matt 💚🌿💚
Thank you!
That pre filter holes are bigger because of the idea from pond guru's improvement to the original bio master.
Love the video
I think an anubias in the corner near the spray bar will look good.
Yeah a few Anubias may be on the cards!
It’s beautiful and I like it just as it is😃
Thank you!
Another great looking tank Matt.
Thank you kindly
Matt will we get an update video on the garage fish room?
You will definitely get loads of garage videos. Currently clearing and having some structural work done. Once that's out the way we will start moving tanks into there. Hopefully December!!!!
I recently upgraded the filter on my 280lt, was using the 3rd hand Betta 1050 which was a bit under powered and had started rattling! Got the Betta 1620 with uv, and for about a third of the cost of the oase, it's a great bit of kit.
Oooo nice it's not one I'm familiar with so I will have a look.
Very nice scape. I hope you will do a scape with Tropheus species. Would be interesting and not something you see a lot. What is the name of the substrate..looks really good!
Very nice
Thank you!
Great video as usual Matt, how about some Pearl or lace or Neon Gourmi,
Dwarf Blue Gourmis,
clown loaches,
Bristlenose Catfish,

lake Kubutu Rainbow fish.

Some great suggestions there!!! Glad you found a home for some of the mollies they will be very happy in a 10ft!
Liking the sand, what sand is it and where can i get it,
Cheers Matt
You really annoyed that dog @40:31 haha
I believe my one was from Ikea. It's just a 1 l Jug normally used in a kitchen
Great scape, where did you get the twigs from
There are a few companies who sell bags of aquascaping twigs. They're just azalea wood I believe.
Did anyone else see the isopod on the right side strolling along in his new underwater world at 32:08?
I love that light! Where is it from?
Hi! Can you make video about " treatment protocol" ?
I have a couple of old videos on the subject about treatments but with the quarantine tank all is explained in this video. th-cam.com/video/jlR7axyjrYE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OVNr8hKpKhhXX4jZ
Hi Matt,great scape that is.
What sand is that and where you get it from?

Evening Matt
Morning hahaha sorry but late on replying.
