We've been raising seed beans for a long time. The whole process is very strict. Something must have happened to the seed after it left the seed conditioner. Most likely snow or rain got into the post-cleaning storage bin. Whoever is storing clean soybean seed should visually inspected the bins as planting time neared. It's shocking that high priced soybeans would be dumped on the ground. The feed, oil and biofuel end user has a zero tolerance for treated seed, so that is the quickest. I'm a retired farmer from York UK loving your channel great insight to American farming you have a lovely family and your videos are great
All the best from Tommy from York UK
Some times over thinking it is the problem. Go for the simple fix first. Good stuff Zac!
Your dad is alright in my book, a thinker, a man of wisdom, the government isn't fooling him
I sound more like his dad every day.
Yup, huge conspiracy!
What a frustrating day, hope you resolve it all
bring back off the husk!
As a retail ag manager these are worst calls to get that a long time customer is not happy with our product. Glad that they are going to make it right with you. Excellent customer service goes a long way in correcting these issues
Sorry to have to say this but it's the people with the 8 to 5 job with the hour pay that just do the min. job and most don't take pride in the job, its just a job. I don't have the answer to fix the problem. As a farmer you have to have very very thick skin to push on . I feel for Zack but this is a every day problem for all farmer, ranchers too. O well maybe tomorrow will be better.
@@stepark3437 I assure you that the majority of retail ag workers take very very great pride in making sure our customers are taking care of properly. Yes as anything there exceptions to this rule, but they are in the minority. The Coop I work for puts Customer satisfaction at the very top of our priorities. Unhappy customers are no longer customers. I and the Coop I work for want the best experience for our 2300 members across our 20 locations. Because if they are not satisfied......well then I'm out of employment.
@@rossr4137 Well I don't think you have to worry about losing your job when you work for a Co-op of 2300 members . I have bought member ships in 3 Co-ops because little Co-op gets bought by bigger Co-op witch gets bought by bigger Co-op and were does joe farmer get inputs. I'm only saying what I said because I worked your side of the job and then went farming 40 years ago, So 48 years ago when I got my first job you could lose your job and it was your fault. Today , the fact is I don't know how you lose a job because you can't fire anyone.
Love hearing your dad call out government stupidity with common sense!
Here here dad for president
Zach, nice thing about shooting video for your TH-cam channel is you got video proof to show to the coop of your seed plugging issues.
Frustrating! Is not the “F” word I would be letting fly. I feel for ya. It seems to always be when you are trying to make time something happens.
SBAS for navigation has changed everything being able to use satellites for corrections ! (SouthPAN for us in Australia) I get the frustration of break downs, it's even worse when it's not actually the equipment. I hate wasting stuff too (even if it is free) but what can you do!
Loved the Nate point of view on DEF!!! Way to go Nate, tell them what you are thinking. Keep asking the questions!!
So, you would rather have NOX poisoning? Talk to your lungs about that!
Had the same problem 5 times the same row ckunk of stuff in there everytime. Got hopper empty and found one more chunk in hopper
I'd say it's even more embarrassing for Deere that they have that annoying of an alarm for a tailight.
The combine story just made my day.
So...Zach doesn’t say a bad word but Dad does? 😂👍🏽❤
Went to ag school with a fellow, never heard the mildest of cuss words from him. Years later I met his dad, his normal conversation was littered with f bombs. No exaggeration, every sentence has a least one.
When we were building my house a friend got his finger smashed between the foundation and 1 of the. I-beams spanning the foundation took the tip right off he didn't say anything except can you run me to the ER I don't think I can drive right now my dad said boy I'd be cussing up a storm he looked at my dad and said what good would that do it still hurts the same I haven't heard my dad cuss in the past 25 years since then
@@davidwoermansr I do let them slip occasionally. But my crew knows, if they screw up and I am very calm and don’t cuss, they know they screwed up bad.
@@paulthiessen6444 I have a welding helmet named the silver bullet because if something expensive happens I get real quiet and if whoever screwed up keeps trying to explain instead of letting me accept it and figure it out it's been known to fly across the shop with accuracy now it's held together with duct tape several layers somehow my auto shade hasn't broke
What a bummer ...got to be extremely frustrating.
You & your dad work well together. My dad would scream/yell at me for holding the flashlight in the wrong spot even though he didn’t tell me where to shine it.
Loved your Dads comment about DEF.
Your Dad reminds me of my dad.
Not sure what you meant by your reply. Thanks Mike
Your dad is a genius and he is exactly right as a trucker I concur on the whole def
The government never passes regulations like Def unless one of their rich donors cashes in on it. I’d love to know who’s making money on producing it. Is it made in the USA?
Pretty rich comment coming from a guy who burns how much diesel every year to farm corn to make ethanol that gets burned anyway. It's a net negative in fuel consumed to make ethanol for fuel.
@@JeepWranglerIslander Do you realize that ethanol production doesn't 'consume' corn? The byproduct is feed to cattle which we eat.
@@chrissyfrancis8952if I’m not mistaken Russia is the biggest exporter of DEF in the world.
@@AlabamaLinemanFarmer So, if our govt gets us into the war & Russia cuts exports of DEF, then what will farmers do?
Dude.... I can feel your frustration!
Loved your Dads theory about DEF
( AKA backroom politicians trying to figure out how to make farmers spend more of their hard earned money ) imagine how many more pollutants thats in our atmosphere in the name of Diesel exhaust fluid !!
At least there is no black smoke!!!!
@@BKetch look at for instance what that def does to a tractor engine, it shortens the life of a tractor engine ? Its all BS to me , just my opinion
@@BKetch Black smoke is organic, pure, inert carbon that falls to the ground. It's also essential to life on this planet.
It's not just farmers I drive a tour bus it has def😢
@@markbowling3475 I was being sarcastic. I agree it's all BS. JH Diesel & 4x4 did a video showing the exhaust system of all the 3 major pickup trucks. They are all 6-10k. Just feels like a feel good law that makes things worse.
I wonder if you're having the same issue Cornstar Farms had with their beans. They had to use a LOT of talc and graphite to get it to plant correctly.
That issue with the rotten seed would drive me nuts, equipment issues are one thing, but something like this is the kind of thing that just drives a guy insane. I thought you normally got your beans in pro-boxes like your corn seed, I am assuming these came from the co-op at a better cost? Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Gotta make one wonder how the germination rate will be on those beans. Even with treatment, there’s a substantial probability they’ll rot in the ground instead of germinating? ? ? ? ?
@@Lightning613look like if was condensation on the inside of the silo or a condensation crust on the top on the pile. If the beans got warm enough to affect the germ, you would notice it both in colour and odour.
@@Lightning613nah it should be fine. Like others have said it got wet somewhere. Causes headaches on these high speed planters but shouldn’t be an issue if and when you can get it in the ground. Granted it’s worthless because you can’t plant with it but what he did get in the ground should grow just as good as the rest
Love the spudnik shirt, great brand for potato equipment
So I happened to run closed captions when Nate was talking about DEF... the fact that google used the word death instead all 3 times made my day... "ever wondered how much reasources is used transporting death around?" I was in tears :)
make up a 1/2 inch hardware cloth screen over your seed reservoir thats removable anything bigger than that will stay there, screening bulk seed and fertilizer less headache when running it through those machines.
