Oh those "do-it-yourself" hydraulic hose fittings bring back some unhappy memories ! Back in 1980 I was running a log truck up in Ossipee, N.H., and it seemed that every time I got way in the woods a line would blow, and usually when it's freezing cold ! Cutting that steel braid with a hacksaw is always fun, and screwing it together with a couple of adjustable wrenches. Of course air valves would freeze up while you were loading, so you had to try to find some dry leaves and small sticks to build a fire under the valves, being careful not to set the truck ablaze due to all the hydraulic oil soaking the entire underside. Fun times for sure !!
Sam, great to see you and your family working together. Your son will never forget this time spent with him. I am 81 with great grand children and my sons tell me how much they learned and enjoyed working with me. Your video content is great, keep it coming. My best from West Texas.
I think Matt shared the link to Sam's channel in one video. Matt always mentions Sam, and rightfully so, but I think Sam's link has been shared once, and Sam has done really well from that share.
@@mikeabbott2396 For me it was the generator video his work on that was amazing I don't think anyone else has the Patience to get an engine that stuck going
Worked in a municipal garage in michigan, we use to make all our hoses using the same method, but we used a Ridged pipe threading machine to hold the hose while threading the new end on it, handy tool to have available when equipment was out plowing snow on a Sunday night and breaks or blew a hose.
From part 1, I thought Sam was buying this bulldozer for the working transmission only and was going to do a trans swap into his 1st bulldozer. Somewhere I missed the change of plans. Thank you Sam for this video.
thanks for keeping a machine out of Maryland's already over filled landfill.. most all Maryland's old machines just end up a pile of rust in the landfill.
Nice to see you had no problems putting the cylinder back, on your own Sam, it is just a matter of keeping the cylinder parallel to the bore and it goes in as easy as you found. Last one I had to do was 35 yrs ago so nice to see a youngster doing it for himself! Well done, as to all the other work you have done, well it was as expected of your skill level, NICE. I love watching you and Matt working together, two younger men who want to keep this old stuff going, and are doing a fine job of it, as they learn and transfer each learnt skill to another project! Hope you and your's have a Merry Christmas & Happy new Year, and look forward to seeing you in the new year!
Love to hear you talk about getting stuck, slugging down 79. Born and raised south hills pgh. Pa guys have great channels. Keep it up scrappy and diesel creek.
I like this. Free lessons in how to diagnose and revive old equipment. And you can hang out without getting in the way. Although I miss the smell of fuel.
Absolutely love that you are teaching your kid to think and work with his hands from a very young age!!!!! He will grow up to be an adult worth the air he breathes unlike way too many!
I love hearing that turbo spooling up. Just doesn't get any better than that. Insert several Tim the toolman grunts! Sam and family have a very Merry Christmas.
I like your monster pick tool, looks handy. Those insulated rubber gloves are great for working in snow too. Also added to a rainsuit in cold seasons rain. That setup for the gland retainer looks the best of the ones Ive seen, espescially for heavy situations. Emptying the belly pan is a good idea. A fire in that stuff has baked a few crawlers hard. Nice work, really nice shop. Youre a lucky man!
Sam, I know the good feeling of having what you need "in stock" & on the shelf, there's nothing worse than having to stop a project over a $20 fitting you have to order. Thank God for Amazon Prime!! Nice shop Sam!!
Sam, after spending a fortune on hydraulic hoses (no, I can't afford a crimping machine), I started ordering my hose in bulk, and buying those field replaceable fittings. I have never had a problem with them. Thanks for showing their application.
Sam, little 'tip' for cutting those cloth braided hoses, if you wrap them in electrician/insulation tape and then cut them, they dont fray as much which means getting them into fittings etc can be easier 👍
Hey Sam, for anyone who hasn't used a steam washer / cleaner it's day and night difference from a straight pressure washer. But, everyone saw the potential downside of steam. Thank Goodness you weren't trapped underneath when the hose broke.
Great video bro, it will be complete once the blade is fitted. Seen Clinton and Keven do lots of hydraulic cylinders since I have followed C&C over the years. Safe travels over the silly season. Ken.
Love the “field service” fittings, got me out of a lot of binds when i worked for a big company that ran power all over the place underground and backhoes/trucks would get hoses ripped off all the time
Great Success!!! Nice service on that unit, Sam! Hope you got the steamer hose issue resolved. If I don't hear from ya beforehand Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Yes your attitude is awesome. Id be mother fin every little part that was being difficult. I wish i had tor attitude. Your attitude alone makes everything you do look easy. Great job and really like your channel brother, keep up the good work... Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from Ohio!
Hello Sam excellent video loved it you and your family have a merry Christmas give the little man his own tool set he will be helping before you know it
For future reference, put hose clamps around the seals if they are tough to get in the cylinder barrel and let them sit for a little bit so they shrink
I worked on forklifts for 50 years on the road , making hyd lines with reusable fittings, and also crimp fittings the reusable fittings we had starter pins that would fit down the male part to get the fittings started , sometimes we would just use different size, Phillips screwdrivers down the fitting to get it started , old trick is to use a Tapered punch, with oil to open the hose a little then start the male end ! We had sizes 4-12 in van stock and so much hoses it was funny! You need a good Vice also LOL
It started right up must have loved that new oil. Got the tubes set right thanks to the little helper. If yo0u find a blade he will help you with that too
There are 2 td 25s south of me for 20-25 for the pair. And a friend dad has a td25 here by me. Also, Here by Me there was a kw900A with a factory kt/a 19 600. That was a cool truck
Great video Sam as always got a chuckle out of your little boy 🙂wanting to help. Thanks for all your videos and a very Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!
Excellent cylinder repacking job young man. Looks like you have an apprentice coming to the channel, looks to be full of life, ready to help dad out. The ole dozer is in pretty decent shape from what can be seen on the cam anyway. Thanks for the update Sam, enjoyed watching.
27:44 if you do two complete laps instead of one when slinging it will stay in place a lot better and not slide as easy. We use it on pipes, cable etc when pulling and its surprising how much difference it makes. You can use it with a sling on a rope as well. If you do three laps thats what climbers call a prusik knot.
It's amazing how good this project is considering the expectations. Good job keeping your cool. I'm impressed with your coolness and skill. I was Master Insturctor in the hydraulics division of the Army Engineer School and I'll bet I made thousands of hoses as teaching aids and rebuilt as many cylinders. You have a handsom boy, he must take after mama. viewed in San Diego, California USA currently 79 degrees.
Great video longer than usual, down to Earth and saw some behind the scenes stuff we wouldn't usually see. Happy Christmas and enjoy the holidays all at Dr Mix
Great job , lots of tips and knowledge in this video , bless you and your family Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of your family , keep the videos rolling like them all , Thanks for Sharing
I like watching people do stuff that know what they're doing, Sam you're pretty good to watch man you're interested and you're not a problem waiting to happen LOL
You can always tell a young mechanic from an older one by the choice of work surfaces. Young guy on the floor or ground old guy at the bench usually with a stool to lean on !😊
It don't get no better than a Diesel creek and a scrappy video back to back"😅 Sweet"
Absolutely 👍
Merry Christmas Sam!
Your positive attitude is an inspiration for all of us Thanks Sam
In
Makes it look easy suppose it's attitude towards his toys
22:04 - That engine purrs like a lion ready to pounce! You can tell this Dresser TD25G still has a lot of life left in it!

How much pressure are those hoses rated for?
Sam is so knowledgeable about everything!!! Love how he explains what he’s doing makes for a great video fun to watch.
Sam, great to see you and your family working together. Your son will never forget this time spent with him. I am 81 with great grand children and my sons tell me how much they learned and enjoyed working with me. Your video content is great, keep it coming. My best from West Texas.
Get rid of diesel Creek he is a hacker a boat anchor collector of junk you start with shit you end up with shit
After 45 years of fluid power experience I was happy to watch someone else remove Teflon and backing rings. 😂
Love seeing your son "helping out" I have three and they grow up fast... Nice work!
Love the video Sam and Son working together and Mom watching her son too .
Scrappy Sam's got 100K subscribers! CONGRATULATIONS MAN! You're a big time youtuber now!
and doing it without riding coat tails!
Yeah, what they said Sam, congrats, that snuck up on me.
I think Matt shared the link to Sam's channel in one video. Matt always mentions Sam, and rightfully so, but I think Sam's link has been shared once, and Sam has done really well from that share.
Thank you I appreciate it!

"An attempt was made!", I love it. Thanks Sam you're making my Saturday night
That was quite the gush of hydraulic fluid dumping out really quickly there! I don't think much could've caught all that.😅😂🛢️🤷🏻♂️

That Dozer deserves a chrome stack and a new flapper😊
Here in Australia we call those flaps "Dink dinks".
Another good morning when Scrappy has one up! Thanks Sam!,
Had a good laugh about your son looking at his now black and grasy hands, going "Uh-oh", and walking off-screen. XD
I like your videos' because they contain real work on machinery.
From part 1, I thought Sam was buying this bulldozer for the working transmission only and was going to do a trans swap into his 1st bulldozer. Somewhere I missed the change of plans. Thank you Sam for this video.
Another great afternoon watching Sam and his family. It doesn’t get any better. 🔧👍🇬🇧
I really like your little helper. Can't wait until he gets older
What you get when you combine hi IQ & high common sense you get Sam working like he does 🧐👍🏻👌🏻
thanks for keeping a machine out of Maryland's already over filled landfill.. most all Maryland's old machines just end up a pile of rust in the landfill.

Congrads on 100K subs.
Thank you!
Looking good, nice work on the seals, and nice work having the little guy help…
The "an attempt was made" had be rolling 😂

That young man has so much to learn…He will get used to dirty hands soon enough 😂😊

Refreshing to see a youtuber that actually fixes stuff he buys instead of letting it rust away. Great video!
What a little helper dad
That engine cold start awesome nothing wrong with that power house!
Good to see a good father and husband!😀
Your an amazingly talented man. I love your channel. It's great when you and Matt work together also. Can't wait for the next one.
"we'll swap engines if we have to, no big deal" 🤣
Sam, after spending a fortune on hydraulic hoses (no, I can't afford a crimping machine), I started ordering my hose in bulk, and buying those field replaceable fittings. I have never had a problem with them. Thanks for showing their application.
A perfect way to start a Saturday.
Sam, little 'tip' for cutting those cloth braided hoses, if you wrap them in electrician/insulation tape and then cut them, they dont fray as much which means getting them into fittings etc can be easier 👍
You always have a good attitude and it seems to work in your favor
Your son looks like he is ONE COOL CAT, Sam!!! Hope you and your family have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
As an airctaft mech. fo 45 years, if you could train a 3-5 year old, that would be the optimal size for working and inspecting. Merry Christmas
Cool setup! I have not seen the inards of a Dresser cylinder before.

one day he'll be helping Dad work!
@ I think he is already 👍🏻😎👌🏻
Another great video Sam good luck with getting a Blade for it
Thanks for sharing and taking us along.Outstanding and awesome content as always.
Ohhh boy! Sam has hit the 100k mark! That's a decent Christmas present for sure. Congratulations and Merry Christmas!
Really nice work, Sam!
Nice work, Sam
Although I suspect you won't end up with a "parts" tractor
You'll end up with 2 operational and repaired tractors 👍
Aeroquip reusable fittings are excellent.
Used on Aircraft.
Nothing wrong if done properly as per mfg on correct hose .
Great Success!!! Nice service on that unit, Sam! Hope you got the steamer hose issue resolved. If I don't hear from ya beforehand Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Nice looking machine I bet you’ll be happy with it
Hearing it called a steam genny brings back memories of my dad. Everyone else calls them a steam genie now. Lol
Also… merry Christmas 🎄

Really enjoying your channel Sam! I've been watching Diesel Creek for years and decided to also come over and watch yours. So glad I did!!
videos from both Sam and Matt on a Sunday morning, ...... perfect. .. what better way to start the relaxing morning?
thanks Sam. ... love your work.
Just remember the TH-cam rule #1: it is not called "failure" - it is called "content". 😁😁😁😜

Saturday morning coffee on ,,Here we go! Cheers!;-)!!!
That is a big machine. Nice!
Congrats on 100K subs. That escalated quickly, after collaboration with DieselCreek.
Yeah that turbo has had a lot of weather down in there
