Kamek basically raised Bowser according to the Yoshi games, and given they made him elderly and doting and always looking proud of him I think that was a nod. I hope they continue with it in sequels XD
If they have K Rule in the sequels I hope they give him the reverse with him and General Klump (yes he's cannon, he was in DK64) where K Rule acts as a disappointed parent to Klump's bumbling son looking for a father figure he didn't have growing up.

Line, to Mario reaching out for Luigi's hand in brotherly love and the Brothers in their Superstar Power-Ups fighting off Bowser all while Brian Tyler's phenomenal composition of the Invisible Theme plays in the background. That was PERFECT.
Making Peach more complex as a character was the right thing to do. Really feels that she's someone who can stand by Mario's side rather than the modern Hollywood take on women being better than men all the time. She stands against Bowser in this part knowing full well that she'll likely lose but would go down fighting instead. As for the wedding scene that was noted, she tries to save herself but doesn't win out in the end as she is taken out by King Bob-omb exploding which is something she did by lighting his fuse. Really showing that in the Mario movie that you can overcome anything with someone fighting with you.

Also the Mario franchise was never known for the story. The story of a Mario game usually just gives you context and reason on why you're doing what you're doing. It's why the plot twist only happens when they need a fake out ending.
funnily enough, it's kinda similar to how in the original game manual of the first mario game explains that peach is the only one that has the power to save the mushroom kingdom and that's why she needs saving, i honestly wish more games need to have this sort of build up or explaination but hey leave that to the spin offs i guess XD
The dynamic here is very similar to the one in Beauty and the Beast. Gaston's motive was to marry Belle by any means necessary. He even proposes to her. When she rejects him, he begins to use more forceful measures, like convincing his village to throw Belle's father in an insane asylum unless she marries him. The difference here is that Belle never succumbed to Gaston, unlike Peach, probably because Bowser is far more powerful. Gaston was also feeling insecure about the Beast stealing away Belle from him, which is why he wanted to kill him, kind of how Bowser felt about Mario.
It isn't that Bowser is more powerful, Belle had a trick under her sleeve that foiled Gaston's plan, with the mirror Beast gave to Belle, she showed everyone that the beast Maurice was so panicked about was very real, proving he wasn't crazy, and was set free, but as soon as Gaston saw Belle had feelings for Beast, he immediately used the mirror against her, fearmongering the townsfolk into thinking Beast is evil and dangerous, so they joined his cause in raiding the castle so he can murder the one that succeeded in taking Belle's heart, if he couldn't get Belle, no one else could And Bowser hated Mario because he didn't want face the facts Peach didn't just hate him, but she was the mastermind behind his downfall, in his eyes it just couldn't be her, Mario must've been the one who put her against him, even though Mario and Peach don't really have a love relationship in the movie, and Mario was the one to join Peach's cause in order to rescue his brother, even when Peach explicitly expressed her disgust right in his face and not caring she's surrounded by his guards with sharp spears pointing at her, after he forced her to accept and come with him, he just brushed it off as if nothing happened, only to get his heart broken even harder at the wedding when Peach fought back, he's delusional as heck

As a long-time Mario fan, and even more so, a long-time Peach fan, I know people always make the mistake to label her a weak damsel in distress. Peach has always been a badass. The original game even stated that she was kidnapped because if King Koopa didn't kidnap her first, she'd easily just defeat him. She went on to be the best playable character in Mario 2 (doki doki panic edition), a badass who saved herself in the Mario Adventures comics, and one of the strongest white mages in gaming via Super Mario RPG. Her powers have always waned and waxed from being extremely magically OP, to being a physical badass, but she has always been considered a powerhouse. This movie portrays her very similar to her Mario Adventures Comics version featured in early Nintendo Power in 1992. In other versions of her (when she has a lot of magical power), they portray her as an airy, go-with-the-flow, has no fear of anything magical god-like character. Heck in Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story, Bowser comes to kidnap her when she isn't in the mood for it. So she snaps her fingers and magically floats him into the sky, slams him down, and tosses him clear out of her kingdom casually. Her daughter from the (Past/Future) Rosalina, has the magical power to reset the entire universe.

I died a little inside when he died cause was he just used for a gag 😢 cause like death is canon as when Bowser created a Dry Bones so he's gone right?
@TheReZisTLust Actually, it’s kinda unclear how it works for the Bob-Ombs. Bob-Ombs whole point is to blow themselves up and they get manufactured constantly by the King, so them dying may be more of an actual death. King Bob-Omb on the other hand we see him in other media detonate himself and return later with his mind still intact, so there’s a chance he could return as he would rebuilt back at his Bob-Omb manufacturing plant.
MCU Female Heroes like Captain Marvel and She-Hulk need to take some notes from Peach. This Princess wasn't just strong and independent, but she was also caring for her Kingdom and a good guide for Mario across the Mushroom Kingdom. She was a Badass without being preachy and obnoxious about it.
The part when the mushroom kingdom gets sucked in to Brooklyn changes the entire experience of watching the movie. I was genuinely so invested when I saw it for the first time. And I love how it doesn’t just automatically happen. It slowly develops. Like when Mario is the first to pop out of the sewer, and is unexpectedly brought back to Brooklyn and he questions it until the true chaos happens. I love the build up of the scene. It was just so different. I really didn’t expect it to happen. I genuinely thought that Mario was gonna fight Bowser at his keep. But I’m glad that the final battle takes place in Brooklyn. I genuinely wasn’t expecting that. And it’s not even something you’d expect from something Mario related. In a good way. Only the Mario movie can do that and it’s out of place. Because it expands the story in a way.
If I could change one thing from this movie, it would be the the line Luigi says when he saves Mario. Instead of "Nothing can hurt us, as long as we're together" Why not have him say, "Need a Second Player?" or "You need a Co-op Partner?" It would've been badass and gives the feeling of what it's like to play with someone.
The Damsel in Distress archetype existed LONG before Mario, being a Narrative device probably even before the middle ages. It's popularization was made as a part of the Heroes Journey, as it was one of the easiest ways to motivate someone to action. Peach was never a scared figure, especially not in the Mario series with the Mario RPG games, she is very clearly one of the strongest individuals in the Mario Canon with probably the largest kingdom of the entire franchise, since the start of the Mario games, but Bowser has always been the one threat that can dominate over her kingdom, and take over with ease. This setup has always been for the unlikely hero story, of a mere plumber from Brooklyn (yes, Mario has always been a New York resident) to take on the unlikely challenge of beating Bowser, King Koopa himself. Mario never won through direct confrontation, having to outsmart the Draconic Turtle in order to restore order to the Kingdom, as only Princess Peach could. So while she may be in the Archetype of Damsel in Distress, it's a simple set up for the story of the early platforming game of Mario, but that's definitely not what I find to be the main popularization of the Archetype in American Media, as it would already be accepted through Movies, like Superman and Conan The Barbarian (by the way, Conan's strength may be impressive, but he won most of his high stakes bouts through wit instead of overpowering his opponents), but a proper example of Damsel in Distress is the original Donkey Kong game, which a Lady is saved by Jumpman. The lady isn't Pauline or Peach, as some may think, not even Daisy. This is just a mostly unnamed woman being saved by the precursor to Mario. I'd really say Comics such as Superman, and movies such as superman made the Damsel in Distress archetype popular, it's a simple set up for a simple story and something people can easily get behind, because we all love women.
I need more. SO many awesome scenes. Please do some more. P.S I genuinely care that you told me your name. I would've been confused if you didn't tell me.
I dont get it, Peach has always been quite powerful, you ever play SMB2? - The only way I could beat that game was to use Peach. Her float ability is brilliant.

It’s not like I’m trying to be mean I was just being brutally honest I don’t hate illumination my favorite franchise of theirs is despicable me but the movie was about Mario, so in the opening titles word, said universal pictures and Nintendo present it doesn’t say illumination on there because Mario belongs to Nintendo and don’t remind me of the movie adaptations from dr Seuss books they might belong to dr Seuss but they say illumination presents dr Seuss is not a big company Nintendo is a big company don’t hate me for being brutally honest.
Despite all of Peach's ability, she was still a damsel in distress. If you take Mario out of the movie and replay events, Peach loses everything. Power ups may help boost people, but It's like bowser has his own self power up. If bowser ever used a power up block, you could call that cheating having 2 power ups at once. What makes Mario an attractive hero for Peach is not how powerful he is, but how he is there to help. Mario rescued the damsel in distress by saving everything she loves. The Scene That CHANGED The Mario Movie = Peach becoming Bowsette to keep the toads alive.
@@bjarnonegames5394 The 'climax' [I don't think climax is the right word actually but I'm sticking with it] was also so... calm? Like, it didn't provoke any emotions.
Instead of "Nothing can hurt us, as long as we're together" Why not have him say, "Need a Second Player?" or "You need a Co-op Partner?"
It would've been badass and gives the feeling of what it's like to play with someone.
TSMBM isn't A video game movie. It's THE video game movie. Namely the most successful video game movie ever
I loved princess peach in this movie
I feel like the scene that changed the Mario movie is the Rainbow Road scene.
the eye in the thumbnail upsets me
This was a really fun movie.
There needs to be an AMAZING series.
I didn't even notice the choker.
The Peaches song was the best
Yeah! I loved this movie and so did my friends! I’m glad you’re making a video about it!
Oh god the words behind her eyes

Almost every movie is better than that train wreck of a film... you're kinda setting the bar too low. XD

17:31 You just had to end the video with this shot of Bowser do ya? As if we haven’t felt bad enough for him. :3
Unfortunately the closest to a genuine character development scene in the story….., it’s neat but again very rushed

The Mario Movie’s mostly Nintendo so it doesn’t count as an illumination movie even though illumination is involved, it doesn’t count
Kinda shits on all the talented people behind this film when you say something like that.
It’s not like I’m trying to be mean I was just being brutally honest
I don’t hate illumination my favorite franchise of theirs is despicable me but the movie was about Mario, so in the opening titles word, said universal pictures and Nintendo present it doesn’t say illumination on there because Mario belongs to Nintendo and don’t remind me of the movie adaptations from dr Seuss books they might belong to dr Seuss but they say illumination presents dr Seuss is not a big company Nintendo is a big company don’t hate me for being brutally honest.
Stop calling it a power star it's a super star
I’m excited to review this movie.
Movie was great in general, but absolutely horrendous pacing
i agree, the end felt so weard when they just started flying at jet speed across the whole world and there was no time to rest and let scenes sink in
@@bjarnonegames5394 The 'climax' [I don't think climax is the right word actually but I'm sticking with it] was also so... calm? Like, it didn't provoke any emotions. Luigi was protecting Mario from Bowser's flames, he lets go while holding onto Mario, they both get the super star, and then honestly I can't remember but eventually Bowser gets put in a jar in Peach's castle. They could've done so much more
@@slyar they did put him in the jar tho what are you talking about
@@Yoshizuyuner Oh yeah
@@slyar yeah I feel you like we all knew they were gonna win but it's just so much wasted potential and the fact that the Power creep in an instant just went through the roof, made any action just feel incredibly empty
Bowser more like BAEser
that's not what a money shot is...
hi dazz
If you are going to break down another scene, it has to be one of the existential luma scenes.
Pikmin 4
