Hugo is so adorable 😊 The pumpkin garden at Damo’s uncle’s place is beautiful! Thanks for sharing another awesome video and cannot wait to see the next one:)
I’ve noticed that I have had great harvest for all sorts of things: lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, chili’s, eggplants etc, from November to February…come March, I have very bad luck getting much of anything. I’m not sure exactly what the story is, maybe it just gets too hot mane then after that, too rainy…
It's healthy, beautiful, and rewarding. Love understanding being in your garden and experiencing the silent scientific processes taking place all around you. Get started gardening by taking care of a plant-just one-and see how good it feels to keep something healthy and alive. I still love the ways you're taking care of your loved ones and kids too...
My wife's village is the same, almost every is related. It very common in Isaan for the men to live and work in Bangkok separate from their wives. They come visit every week or two to see the family. Always enjoy your videos Ryan.
Great video guys, I like seeing Damo getting more involved and doing some of the talking. I love seeing Hugo he always looks so chilled yet very aware I can't help but have a little chuckle and think that kid has been here many times before and is where he exactly needs to be. 😄😄 Hope the honey sales go well?
Sorry to hear about the turkey. It is a bummer. But also it's part of farming. I used to work on a goat (cheese) farm and I quit after one of the goats died because it got to my emotions. The owner of the farm told me "This is part of farming goats". I didn't tell them it was the reason I quit.
So sorry Ryan and Damo for your loss it's hard when you raise it from an egg!! Damo does a great job it was great to see her grow from your earliest videos! She is a super woman such a beautiful loving hard working gardener woman and such a great job as a mother!! And you Ryan you have grown also and you are very hard working and such a good daddy these videos are a lot of work that's why it's easier to go live! So you don't have to go through all the editing! Praying for your Uncle seems like a nice man! Oh honey I love it! Can't wait! Love your videos!
Look into raising rabbits for manure and meat..excellent choice. The vegetables really need lots of manure and fertilizer in general. Check at night for slugs.
Brilliant vlog Ryan, Hugo and Damo always steal the show in a good way! The other chickens you ordered never showed up, so on to plan B. Nope, time for plan C. The saga continues! T.I.T. This is Thailand. Yes, living or sleeping separately can be beneficial if you snore or are getting beat on! 555 Interesting pumpkin growing method. Yes you should grow that way, keeps them off the ground, BTW, you know I am a handsome farang! But alas, Thais call me Papa now, too old and not enough money or desire for a wife and baby. RIP white turkey, I feel your pain brother. Peace, Love, and live chickens soon we hope!
Hiya. Ryan and Mo. That is funny. Lost in translation. Chickens. But frozen. 555. Dating service. 😆 Hugo is so cute. Great video. Love learning about different cultures. I was blessed with a pumpkin of 42 lbs. I love growing. Sorry to hear about your turkey. From an egg. Sending love and hugs. Have a cry and do not hold it in. You have the right to feel angry. Happy Sunday. So all over the place with watching videos.
Great vlog Ryan and Damo. Loved the treasure hunt for the chickens! Damo's uncles smallholding was great, loved it. Shame about the turkey. I know exactly how you feel, as I used to breed birds, budgies, cockatiels, conjures, rosellas etc. This often involves handrearing over weeks every few hours sometimes. One becomes very attached to them and if one dies for no apparent reason, it is sad, annoying, and frustrating. It used to make me question if it was all worthwhile. But then I would turn to Rudyard Kipling and his poem 'If' which always made me feel better. God bless you all ❤😊🙏
Another interesting vlog, the problem is not growing for self sufficiency but building in a ‘wastage or surplus for reinvestment’ As a retired Beekeeper keeping bees is a task where you need to be on top of it and check your hives at least once a week and in times of struggle be-prepared to give emergency food (sugar syrup or fondant) you risk transferring health problems if you feed honey from other hives. Also be prepared to ‘follow the flow’ and move hives to areas where crops are in need of pollution to gather the nectar and pollen. I am not a fan of the ‘common’ Thai hive but being in common use if your buying in parts, pressed wax sheets (foundation) offers easy of purchase. The native Thai bee ‘Apis Cerana’ (and others) have been replaced for honey production be the Western HoneyBee ‘Apis Mellifera’ and if over inbred (like many) can result in some pretty nasty traits of aggression or following Need any advice free to chat. Keep up the good work 👍🏼 PS: no such thing as ‘organic honey’ as you have no control which food source they are using within 5 k from home. You can have ‘natural honey’ once any emergency food supplies have gone / removed.
Hi Ryan, my comment got lost ? asked if you could say in what direction from Buriram you live, if possible village :) im moving south of Buriram in some years. all the best to you, Mo, Otis and Hugo
LOL! You crack me up with the Star Wars reference and the saga continues! Throw in a little husband hunting match making in the mix. Mahalo for the laugh! 😂
Well done you've inspired me. It's time I jumped on a bus from Cambodia and go visit my Thai friends farm. It's the same here everything gets lost in translation sometimes I think it's the locals do it on purpose so they can see this old Australian lady mime when words fail.
❤🙏🏼vlog. Is it shadier where Damon’s Uncle lives. Does look so beautiful with all the pumpkins growing like that. Have a great weekend. Sending ❤️✨to you all! 💞💞💞💞
Oh that is too bad. When you raise an animal from an egg, that takes some nurturing. Hugo looks like a little Buddha today. How beautiful, a pumpkin garden ! I love these video’s from your rural life. Thank you 💕🙏
Considering it basically just the two of you , and I do understand you have some elderly help , maybe it would be a good investment to buy a roto-tiller , unless you want to learn how to drive a water-buffalo, they also make farm implements for a 4-wheel ATV that you can use for work and play
Leeeeet's talk HONEY! I finally get the reason why you are looking towards the honey. Since I know a thing or two bees-wise, I can already see that your production is TOP-NOTCH PURE! Did you know, btw, that the sugar traces in honey can be affected by what the bees eat too? Like for example, here in Bulgaria, 1. THE PURE PRACTICE goes like this ---> you leave the bees feed themselves during harvest season, but when they rest, YOU FEED THEM WITH HONEY THEY MADE. 2. The not-so-pure-a-practice goes like this ---> you leave the bees feed themselves during harvest season, BUT YOU feed them off-season with Water + PROCESSED sugar... Practice No: 2 always leave real sugar traces in the honey, and therefore it's not deemed 100% pure, a.k.a. The Food of The Gods. And not to mention ADDING sugar to the final product, smh... 3. Solutions: there is only one - if you want 100% pure honey, always give them honey offseason. You can even "buff" them by giving them OTHER TYPE OF HONEY FROM ANOTHER COLONY, however, you MUST make sure the other Bee Family is 100% Healthy, with a Functional Fat Big Momma Queen, and that colony is given pure honey offseason too. p.s.: BEE-HERDERS, DO NOT GIVE THEM SUGAR. Let me repeat that: NO SUGAR FOR THE BEES! It's like giving cows to digest nylon, expecting good milk. Salute Salute Salute! Peace Peace Peace! Blessings Blessings Blessings!
That's u guys I always thought pumpkin grew out of the ground but his are hanging out of bamboo class ryan u always have something different that's if I miss one if drive me loco😂😂 best wishes to the family
Why build pumpkins up high ? we grow them in the ground ! its fascinating just how hard it is to grow 100% of your own food, that Uncle has years of experience & still only gets 50% ! ( edit just heard hes an alcoholic, how vast is that problem in rural Thailand ? )
I assume one benefit to Chickens is pecking about eating bugs? If that's the case, do you know if anyone has Guinea Fowl in Thailand? As I understand it, you get eggs and meat from them too. I've heard they are more like Pheasant to eat. But the signature thing is they are hyper predatory on insects and bugs. One figure I've heard (not verified by me, seems a crazy number) is they are capable of eating 6,000 Ticks a day, each bird. Fascinating bird to research a little. The Romans apparently tried to domesticate them for centuries, but they wouldn't domesticate. Video's I've seen from people with Homesteads that started running Guinea Fowl were interesting. They seem domesticated at first, not terribly afraid of the people, coming out of their roost/coop., and instantly patrolling the grass and weeds for insects, and staying on a roaming patrol like that until dusk, at which point they come back to the roost/coop that has been made in such a way (different than a chicken coop apparently) inside they naturally find it more attractive as a sleeping place than up in a tree. Wing feathers are clipped enough they can't get a lot of height or distance, so they stay in the area of their roosting coop. Anyway, you've got tons of bugs in Thailand, was wondering if anyone is raising Guinea Fowl.
I was asked by a Thai lady how to meet a Farang boyfriend up in Udon Thani, my answer is simple, learn English and you cut out 99% of your competition😊
Ryan, you and Damo do great work. This is one of your best as it is so candid. I know you don’t get this opportunity everyday but this is appreciated very much. The pumpkin garden looks great. This children are growing up, and in a great environment.
If I lived where you live I would do black soldier flies on a big scale. You would have tons of livestock feed. Seems like you should be researching a bunch of permaculture, carbon nitrogen ratio, Ruth Stout gardening etc. all I know is if I had your land I would go nuts on the permaculture.
This is to funny. She is looking for a husband for a daughter. But didn't understand the part that she wants baby to be half Thai and half what ? Foreign? She should have given you a picture. Maybe I would be interested. I am ready to go.:)
