Wow a maritime group without a US destroyer, shocks me honestly. For those who want to know, the group involves: HMCS Fredericton, NRP Corte-Real, HNoMS Maud, HNmLS Van Amstel, and BNS Leopold I.
@master mariner Im just shocked as I always expect to see an AB class or Ticonderoga, do to having the SM-3 as it is only 1 of 2 midcourse phase ICBM interceptors in the world. So for overall air defense I am just surprised to not see one seeing how the US has close to 70 AB class destroyers.
there was an arliegh burke destroyer with them for a week or so maybe longer , all of them have been of the coast or in devonport for the last 3 odd weeks doing training. it only came into plymouth once during that mind.
This is an old, rotating formation going back at least to the beginning of the 1970s when it was called STANAFORLANT. It's one of the great "glues" of the alliance.
@@paultanton6721 the F100 were designed and built in Spain, of course the AEGIS system was purchased from the US along with the missile systems. You judge a ship against the design requirements that it was built to satisfy. Not against another ship built for different levels of capability. Both ships meet their design criteria. At the moment they are by far the most powerful combatant in existence in the sphere of air defense, with their native capacities alone being enough to dominate any engagement up to a whole US CBG. The Norwegian fleet auxillary looks excellent
She looks amazing
I saw it on Sunday it’s huge
Also very respectful of the Portuguese crew to stand on the deck and salute the city!
Spanish F100 type warship is probably what the RN should have gone fore instead of the T45, cheaper, more reliable, greater weapon load, etc
The only problem with that is you sacrifice any ability to Design your own Ships, short term gain for long term pain.

because the australian destroyer is based upon it
Because the Spanish shipyards construct those ships for Australia

Whats the 2nd frigate ?? im ignorant of the flag and also design?
Looking it up that naval ensign belongs to Belgium. Also looking it up the F930 is the frigate Leopold I.
