    Beautiful warship! Greetings to our cousins across the pond from Los Angeles California. Post-Brexit the U.K. will hopefully continue to reestablish itself as a truly global military power with a large blue water navy that can't be reckoned with. Great Britain, her Commonwealth, the United States, and a few others form the main bulkhead of freedom in an increasingly dangerous world. Rule Britannia! and God Save The Queen!

    I'm an air force type and don't know an anchor from a bucket rope, still this is a beautiful looking warship. Even at the shown low speed she seems to 'glide' on the water, leaving hardly any wake at all. I have a great respect for our naval brothers and sisters but I chose the air force because, 1. I can't swim and, 2. Too many uniform creases to iron! Still, you people look great when you're turned out in your dress kit. All the best and a safe voyage home. Cheers, BH

      Bill Halliwell: Splendid sir, and according to my friends in both the RN and the Army I believe the RAF actually have “combat slippers” on the inventory.
      As they say about the RAF in a war situation, “They check-in, We dig-in......”

    A real beauty. It needs to be packed with more kit and more built. I'm sure the British shipyards would also like that.

      I do hope they won't "be like this" since it was a huge screw up that is costing an arm and a leg to put right.

      Tim Murphy . Hi, In what way do you say they aren’t very good.

    • @timmurphy5541
      @timmurphy5541 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardbourne6743 they saved money by not putting the propulsion system through the normal set of testing. İt should have been a technical triumph - ultra low fuel use - but they almost killed the whole idea by not implementing it properly. Makes one cross just to think of the idiocy of it. A very expensive fix is about to be applied to this ship to sort it out and it seems like a bit of a failure for the concept.

      Tim Murphy . I am grateful for the information, I didn’t realise any of that. Well hopefully they will get right on the next ones. Many thanks.

    FFS! Can we have a few more ignorant comments below whilst we're at it?! Dauntless has long been slated to be the first Type 45 to receive an additional DG as part of the Type 45 PIP. In other words, she's probably on her way to Cammell Laird to begin her refit and certainly isn't heading out on deployment. There is no point having plug and play weapons like Phalanx and Harpoon rusting in Birkenhead!!

    • @VanderlyndenJengold
      @VanderlyndenJengold 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Have you been to Birkenhead lately? I wouldn't go near there without Phalanx and Harpoon - though admittedly the latter may be less relevant defence-wise, yet I wouldn't chance it.

      @thepymes 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VanderlyndenJengold Not been for a while but I know plenty about Birkenhead! My Grandfather was a naval architect at Cammell during the war. As a result I practically grew up in the Wirral! After the best part of 4 years in port, it's nice to know that she can still sail. I was under the impression that the refit (or at least part of it) had started a year ago. presumably there is nothing much going on at Cammell Laird right now either. Are they doing anything else in addition to fixing the power supply and the inter-cooler ?

    Are the other T45s now fitted with Harpoon?

    • @TT-hd3zi
      @TT-hd3zi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Harpoon is rotated between ships when deploying to dangerous seas. HMS Dauntless will be getting a propulsion upgrade.
