It is the first time I have seen the arresting cable that can be raised and lowered on the platform in the video. It is really a good design. In China, these railway stations are all newly built or renovated from old railway stations in the past 10 years, and there are no railway stations transformed from old airports. In addition, all trains with a speed of 350 km/h at night are stopped, and there are only sleeper trains at 250 km/h at night.
Weclome to Hong Kong and Shenzhen. HK West Kowloon High speed station and Shenzhen Futian High Speed Train Station are only two underground High Speed Train Station in China.
When I take a plane, my ears hurt a lot, and the airport security check is very troublesome. There are many things that cannot be brought on board, and there are also restrictions on weight and quantity. Last time, the airport security check took me nearly 2 hours, and I almost missed the flight. That's why trains are my first choice, even if I miss one, I can ride the next closest train for free.
Yeah, that’s always my fear of taking a flight, getting stuck at security check and missing my flight! Sorry you missed yours! But once I’ve checked my bag and been through security I’m all good from there! ☺️
Long haul probably not. I love traveling on train though, especially by Business Class. All train stations (at least in big cities) are closer to city centers and are connected via subways. Great for tourists. Business is way more expensive than normal fares (First and Second Classes. Weird naming convention...) but cheaper than Business Class on comparable trips via planes. For locals traveling by train is extremely convenient. They do not even need to get a physical ticket since their fare is tied to their personal ID card, which they carry on them all the time. They tap/scan their ID card when going through the turnstile. The boarding process is also very efficient. Passengers are allowed to board 15 minutes (is this universal in China?) prior departure. If you have a foreign passport you will have to show it to a manned ticketing booth to get the paper ticket, so plan well in advance. It is still a very fast process but it may take you 5-10 minutes (some of the manned ticketing booth may be a few minutes of walking from your departure gate).
High speerd-rail future in US... Texas plans to build a high speed rail connecting Houston and Dallas by Japanese shinkansen, some land owners are against the plan.
I think the current high speed train still can't replace planes. China is pushing the 600kph meglev trains.... maybe in another 20 or 30 years it can truly replace air planes.
I don't think China intends to use trains to replace planes, I remember watching a video saying that for peak efficiency, due to airport delays, traffic, or just general check in time, trains are meant to be transportation between 60km-700kms max. Less than 60km you use a car or public transit, over 700kms you use a plane. There is a sweet spot in between for trains.

Thanks so much for the info and for answering my question! 😀
This is a big gift to the interstate travellers as an alternative to crowded airports and no more delays !
Yes, a great way to travel! 🙂
I wish I also have this experience in my life time 🚄
Hope you get to travel on the bullet train some time! 😀

Thank you for the warm welcome! And I didn’t know that, thanks for sharing! 😊

Almost all the HSR train stations were newly built. None of them was converted from an airport.
Thanks for letting me know! I heard that before but didn't know if it was true or not! 😃
Thanks for another wonderful and informative video.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video! 😀
Would you rather travel long distance via bullet train or airplane? 🤔

@@budluo Yes, its really nice when the stations are close to the city centers so you can take the subway vs. paying for a cab. Nice design! 😀
Brave and beautifull traveller! Please tell more your China exploring stories.

I just come back from china i did see a lot change in the good way.
Glad to hear! 😃
So sad that the US has ZERO high speed rail.
😄😄😄
Leg room for us lanky people. 🎉🎉🎉

Yes, I think it's nice to have the option for both! 😃
plane ain't flying once you run out of jet fuel. =)
Hungry tourist 😂😂😂
The business class train is a bit too expensive, I would rather choose the economy class of the plane.
Yeah, I can understand that! 🙂

The "airport-like train stations" WERE NEWLY BUILT EXCLUSIVELY AS TRAIN STATIONS and were NEVER "airports"."to begin with".
