- In this video, we take the first-class bullet train in China, from Nanjing to Beijing. This is the first time we have traveled first class so we thought we would make a video to compare it to second class and see if it was worth the money.

I never get bored watching fun videos about China’s high-speed trains.
Your business class experience will happen one day! :D
Thanks! I hope so. I never get bored taking them either, love to travel by train here.
@@Nicofilms You can enjoy a business class if you take a short journey, such as Shanghai-Suzhou and Guangzhou-Shenzhen. In my memory, it takes no more than CNY100.

Great vid, I was always curious about the first class train when I lived in China. I loved taking the trains in China and took a sleeper train from Vietnam that stops at the border before continuing onto Nanning. It felt slightly surreal waking up in the morning in Nanning but was the best introduction to China I could've had 😊
Oh I read about that one I would love to do that. Did you enjoy it? Yeah me too but it wasn't much different. I think the business class is the one that will be the most impressive!
@@Nicofilms Defo enjoyed it, it was a night train so unfortunately you can't really take in the sights and you have to get off the train at the border for immigration but I'd do it all again 😊 I left China this year and I'm missing it, so great to see it through your vlogs 😊✌️
@@samanthabaiden-reid5974 Wow I bet it was still an experience! Might have to add that to the list! I would love to do the trans-Siberian express at some point. Aww I'm pleased I can help with you missing it, hope you get the chance to visit again soon.
Cool
Bullet trains are as fast as planes while nearly never delayed because of weather, and stations are near downtown which can save so much time, and the most important is China accounts for two-thirds of the world's total high-speed railway networks so people can go to any city through this way.
I can’t explain how much I love Chinese high speed trains 😍 it’s so relaxing quiet and I love the food in the stations
Me too! They are such a nice way of travelling!
For the tickets purchase ,i gotta say most of the times the tickets are available unless it comes to the peak holiday time in China like the spring festival or Chinese national holiday week . If not , you can make it with the standing tickets ( no seat but stand only ), or you can buy the tickets along the same scheduled train to different station and pay the difference to the staff there . Also the time limit for pre-order the train ticket is to prevent the waste of seats being taken randomly and canceled later . Me , I find it it’s quite an effective way because it’s allow more people to actually get the tickets when they really need to . Nice video always and love you Nico and Jack .
Thanks a lot! I guess it's because I'm such a planner we always plan a few months in advance so I hate the uncertainty of waiting to know if we have got them it's like gamble. Most of the time it's ok like you say, this was a public holiday 🙈
In business class you would wish the journey last a little bit longer as it is toooooo comfortable to leave the cozy seat, haha.
Ahhh I bet! They look so nice!
expensive business class
True
How much more is business class than second class? Just curious. Thanks.
@@darkphasex Roughly 3-fold high as that of second class.
Thank you for keeping it real and expressing the differences. I like your opinion on first and second class; definitely important when saving money and using that extra money for other travel expense.
I used to travel from London to Edinburgh by train, since then I love travelling by train. thanks for your speed train sharing.
Oh yes I used to get that train home (I'm from Newcastle). I just find it a much more relaxing way to travel.

Excellent one and enjoyed this vlog.
I don't think the first class is way better than the second class, but if you get the chance you have to try the business class, which is amazing, you can literally fully lie down and take a nap
I agree! Yes business class look SO amazing!
Nice video Nico
Thanks a lot Alex!
These videos looks so damn pro. Keep up the good work. Soon you’ll be reaching 100k subs.
From my experience, first class is the same as second class, when the second class's tickets were sold out, I would buy first class. but bussiness class, wow, that is totally different experience.
I agree, I didn't think it was that much different apart from the price. But the business class looks soooo good!

This is a very well edited video.
first class, second class or business class, it's just best because you will never find so cheap so high quality in the world.
There's not much difference between first and second class, you should try business class, that's the one worth the price though.
Thanks for the video, very interesting to see! 🙂
I am Chinese and there is no rule against taking video on the train. If someone doesn't want to be on camera, they do have the right to delete the scene, but most people don't care.
Verdict: You can continue filming the video, and the staff has no authority to stop you from doing so, as long as you don't film him.
I think maybe cos of privacy In 1st class n business class policy..
Nice video. The first class is a must when passengers are very tall or need a good nap. for example after airplane transfer, I enjoyed first class. For daily casual travel, the second class is good enough.
Oh I would love to travel first class on an airplane one day!
@@Nicofilms Yes, more and more high speed trains are connected to the airports. Eveyone can take advantage of it.
A feature of first was the meal service on the Shenzhen to Shanghai train. On that train, there were lots more families in second so first was calmer. The other observation is that the trains are more for the domestic market as evidenced by the food selection.
Yes I can imagine that was the case.
Great video, thx for your efforts to make such good videos
Glad you like them! Thanks a lot!
Beijing to Tanjian.
So fast and straight.
Then take a lovely walk along the rive in Tianjin

Hi I am a new subscriber, and hoping to go to Shanghai soon for my studies, I am absolutely in love with your channel!
Hi, welcome to my channel and thanks for the subscribe. I'm so happy you like my content and I hope you find it helpful.
Have you thought of maybe going on a trip with other TH-camrs? I know you and Yvonne from the Netherlands know each other, maybe go on a trip together, like a sisterhood. Those guys Matt Jayoe, Lee & Oli, Gweilo 60 and Mexicanos en China been on small trips and I have found they got other fresh new ideas right after the trip! China is a BIG country, you will discover new destinations! 😉😉
Thanks for the idea. Honestly though me and Jack barely get much time off from work anyway so our travels are always pretty packed and intense as we like to travel independently. I don't think we would be able to produce much content or be very efficient if we went in a group but you never know.
Good video, thanks
Glad you liked it!
Super bullet trains in China. Stability is the best in the world even glass of water is not affected by gravity fall.
I mean...it sounds like chinese propaganda, but in truth, they are REALLY stable. I’ve been on them several times, and they are better than planes, in terms of comfort anyway.
I love watching Train videos.
Where is the best place you've traveled to by train?
I'd say the policy is no filming in First/Business class. These people tend to treasure privacy. Even if there're few or no people there the policy still holds...nice video though...
Oh, I was about to ask about that and just bumped into your comment. Thanks for your information.
Chinese bullet trains are super class and China now a blessed nation.
最棒的剪辑!
Thanks!
Great video
I been on many trains but never 1st class
Japan have similar on Shinkensen
Always love traveling in bullet trains...
They are great!
Marvelous , Welcome back to the Middle Kingdom Status..China . Most of us Asians have a deep roots way back in China.
Waoow what a beautiful ❤️ 👍 really awesome. Great 👍 video. China high speed rail network is really outstanding and incomparable. China be the futuristic country in next decade. I really want to visit China once in my life and explore from my Naked eyes. By the way I'm from India 🇮🇳 and here also bullet train is proposed from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.
I tried Eurostar in Italy in 2010 with high expectation. but quite disappointed even we didn't have bullet train at that time
The train seats hierarchy iN China is a bit different from flights. In trains, Business is the top class, while first class is the secondary, and second class is economy coach.
Yeah business looks like the best one by far!
love your video!
Glad you enjoyed!
Nico: doing what all Chinese do, eat instant noodles on a train journey 🤩🤩👍👍
hahah it's the only way!
I dont see any instant noodle on train recent years.
If there's Fish and Chips on the strain, it wouldn't have happen..
Actually, you can film anytime when you take trains in China. That waitress may mean that you can not film her other than filling the train.
I think it is because the 2nd class is too good to be, making it not so worthy for the 1st class. I've never taken the 1st class myself, but would definitely give it a try after watching you video. BTW, really glad you like the bullet train here in China and make a video of it. Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot. I'm not sure if it is worth it. Like you say the 2nd class is so good and I don't think the first is that much better but a lot more expensive.
1st class is similar to business class on air plane, and business class is similar to 1st class on airplane. For a journey is over 3 hours, business class is better, otherwise 2nd class is comfortable too.
Business class has a lounge before check in, free snacks & drinks. Some station have VIP entrance options (eg. Shanghai station in the city centre )
Ohhh that sounds fancy! Maybe one day eh haha
When a girl is both cool and cute that’s Nico 💗
Aww thank you that is so kind! ☺
The train is a lovely way of seeing the country and the bullet trains look superb. Considering the distance you had done that’s still a fantastic price and I bet cheaper than say London to Glasgow which is what half the distance you did 🤔 yours was probably a faster overall journey time too 😂
They are really great! haha yeah probably, its crazy how fast they can go and I feel like rail tickets in the UK are pretty pricy!
Welcome to China!
Nice to see your bulet train, but here in India still living in 70s
Good job.. :-) Thanks share...
love the trains in China.
Slow train is nice if you travel in nonpeak season and you want enjoy more to train time. especially with a group of family or friends and not rushing for time. You can stop and visit some very small town and explore something new.
High speed train is awesome and amazing, fast, clean, confirmable. really much better than airplane economic class. 2nd class is already good enough for most of people. For first class, I may choose if it is peak season and journey is more than 5 hours, I can have a better snap there. more crowded in 2nd class or no tickets for 2nd class. I absolutely agree 1st class is not 2 times better. 2nd class is already very good!
Thanks for your comment. I agree with this, I think the slow train would definitely be fun if you were a group and had some time but the fast trains are just so convenient!
Recommend you to try the business class, I really love it
I really want too! Hopefully I can afford it someday haha
@@Nicofilms you can try the Beijing-Tianjin short way, not expensive for just 200km.

Thanks a lot!
There’s a “business class” which is actually more expensive and spacial than the first class
They have the best trains! I wish the USA had a train system like China.
In fact, even though there are so many people taking trains in China, the Chinese train system still requires money from the Chinese government every year. But the Chinese government thinks it's worth it because the train system will connect all the cities and boost the economy. A country as large and sparsely populated as the US will lose more money if it pushes for high-speed rail. America's well-developed network of roads and flights will also make it harder for high-speed rail to become widespread.
Hi Nico, great videos. Can you tell me which website you thought was the best for booking trains?
Thank you very much! I use Trip.com but there is a booking fee you can also book on a website in China called 12345 I think but I haven’t tried it 😬
You should try business class, it is basically and a room and a servant for every 4 seats.
It looks very fancy. Not sure I can afford it but would love to try!
The train ride itself is pretty great, but I don’t really enjoy my time at the station and getting a taxi ride after arrival.
Ahh yes taxi's after are always a pain!
wish you a happy life in china and hope you can stay
Thanks a lot!
i love a music band called hello nico

Hi! Very good videos about China. Can you tell me please the best place on the web to buy train tickets in china. I'm living in Spain and will travel to China next month. Thank you so much .
挺好的说👍
Thanks!
Eyes are so pretty!
Aww thanks!
You definitely can order some foods and drinks or check the train service via the QR code while you are in the second-class.
Thanks! I've not noticed it before I will keep a look out for it next time.
And here I thought you guys were taking a few days off haha
Hahaha we did! We just worked twice as hard before the weekend so we could schedule our videos so we could take some time off.
加油!
The QR code is the first class thing. But there are other ways to get the app you used when you are in the second class. They used to have a small android pad on each seat for entertainment (no internet), but I guess no one wants to use it nowadays.
As a Chinese who traveled a lot several years ago, I would say the only reason you should buy a first class ticket is you find that the second class sell out, and you really need to get on that train.
However, the business class is different story though. Still not worth the price, but they will let you board earlier. :D
Yeah I agree I wouldn't do it again but we couldn't afford the flight haha The business class looks another level though!
just like most major airlines, the different crew have different moods to vlogging, there is no standard policy so you were out of luck with a bad mood conductor. I m 5.6 and very comfortable in standard class from bJ to shanghai.
I agree I think it was just bad luck. I'm not much taller and I think it is fine too. Super comfortable!
谢谢你,中国欢迎你
谢谢
first class is a bit more expensive, but business class is in a league of its own ( much more expensive!!). btw, when did you filmed this video because a lot of people were wearing masks. i saw the chongqing garcia family's video recently. hardly anybody wore masks there. i just bought you a 4GBP tim hortons coffee, hope you will like our canadian coffee !!! love from canada.
Yeah the business class looks amazing, I really want to try it! We filmed it in Oct, you still have to wear your mask when travelling on public transport in any city but you don't have to wear it in other places. Most people are still wearing it here in Beijing even though it isn't mandatory because it is so cold here now haha Aww thank you so much that is very kind of you! I will give it a try as soon as I get the chance to go there!
very very nice bullet train..🌿🏞️😅
很好的视频,建议加中文字幕会有更多中国朋友认识你!
可以去看下国内的b站,Nico在那里也有注册账号,而且所有视频都有中文字幕。
Massage chair is lovely. How much do we had to pay?
to be honest, i prefer the second class if the voyage duration is less than 3 hours, 'cause there is not huge or significant differences between them. As for the one whose duration is more than 3hours, then obviously it is distant enough for me to considerate about the flight, which is faster, even my pre-check-in shall be earlies,
1300 km high speed train 120 euros first class and 70 euros second class . Those are the prices in Europe for the slowest trains (not even at the level of Z trains but at the level of T trains ) ...
I encourage u to next time go to japan and ride in the bullet train in first class its way better
I don't think there is any limitation on filming in the bullet train. Probably that staff wants you to keep quiet in the 1st class carriage. But her English is not good so she just simply ask you to stop.
I agree
We weren't talking very loudly I think she was a bit worried. Like you say she maybe couldn't speak English so was worried we were doing something bad which we weren't. It's a shame but we got some shots before it happened.
Outside of the window view looked pretty sitting in the train rather than sitting in the plane.
I much prefer taking the train it is so much more relaxing!
China: Bullet Train?
Me: Yes
First class gets you there sooner because it travels faster. 😉
Did they say why filming is not allowed anymore? What about photography?
I think it was just the train steward that we had. I think she thought we were journalists, but actually just excited to be riding first class.
you can try a short distance in business class like beijing to tianjin
I'm not sure there would be time to film or enjoy it as it only takes lie 30 minutes haha but it is a good idea to do a smaller cheaper journey!
You should try the business class, you can lie down in there
Haahaaa, are you sure that's what the train attendant said, "no filming"? I have seen so many videos of the CRH bullet trains, including Lee and Oli Barrett's, maybe she was saying "let's be quiet"
Haha I know me too and we've filmed on many trains before. But no we tried to film again and she made us stop unfortunately.
Wow, they asked you to stop filming. I was asked to stop taking photographs inside a supermarket here in the USA, at one in Indonesia, one in Israel and one in Watford.
We don't get asked often but occasionally we do. It was a shame but we managed to get some shots before it happened.
@@Nicofilms Luckily it was still a great video! Thanks for producing such enjoyable and informative content!
