    Loved this breakdown, right to the info and succinct to boot!
    You really fit a lot of information in this 15 min than I think I could do in a 25 minute video haha.
    Nice job Kevin! Also, I know you love the classic Gold, you know you do. 😂

    I'm personally rocking with the Full Chase Trifecta setup, and have 1/3 of the AMEX Trifecta with the AMEX Gold. Definitely want to get the AMEX BBP & AMEX Plat in the future as I continue to optimize my setup. Great video as always Kevin!

    Team AMEX 💪and prefer Capital One Duo 💪 over the Chase setup. Eventually will get some Chase cards for the bonus and send them straight to the sock drawer after the points are transferred. I like the Freedom Flex and the protections on the CSP. Thanks for the info 👍

    I think that the biggest advantages of Chase and Amex are their travel portals and travel redemption options including transfer partners, but I think that it's fair to mention the potential weaknesses of each as well. I've had the Chase trifecta for years and I love it. Chase points have the highest redemption value of any point system with a floor of a 1:1.25 ratio with the trifecta, there's a 1:1 ratio for cash back, and it's inexpensive to acquire and maintain so it's easily a keeper, but the earnings aren't as good on everyday spend compared to some other cards (citi, capital one, and even discover as I typically find it easier to max out more of the 5% quarterly categories on discover). Amex trifecta has better earnings on everyday spending categories thanks to the gold card, but it's expensive to acquire and maintain and you basically have to redeem for travel because the points lose so much value if you redeem for cash back (this is obviously not true of their strictly cash back cards, but that's another story for another day). These are things that people may want to consider when considering the two trifectas.

    Can you do a video on how to churn cards? I.e. when to close/downgrade a freedom card in relation to opening date, and when it’s ok to re-apply for the SUB (more in depth than the 24 month rule)

    Great video, really the best I’ve seen in a long time! As much as I like Chase, I wonder how many people forget to use the $50 credit on the CSP. 😂
    I find myself reaching for the Amex Gold and VX more often these days.

    Could you apply for all the 3 chase cards at once? Will you be approved? Or you gotta apply 1 at a time and then wait a couple months to apply again for a different chase card?

  • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial

    My opinion on them as concise as possible: Chase = Flexible and easy to use for everyone; Amex = Luxury and can give you more value (but less flexible). Both trifectas are super solid and you really can't go wrong with either! Chase is an easier trifecta to recommend with its lack of annual fees, but the credits that come with the Amex trifecta are pretty insane if you get value from them naturally. I love the strategy you recommend with these cards.. I would say exactly the same! Great video all around man!

    Hey kevin, I just got the discover it credit card about a week ago. My goal is to get my credit scores into the 800’s I’ve never been able to get passed the upper 700’s 😂. I came across you videos and was wondering what would be a good rule of thumb to wait to apply for a chase card? Like 6 months or a year? My wife wants to travel more often and those sound like they have great perks

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I would wait 3-6 months, and definitely on the longer end if you've had high velocity of applications recently!

    Great breakdown of both Trifectas Kevin! I’m on Team AMEX, maybe one day, I’ll consider the Chase Trifecta. I like your idea of using Chase as a rotating 24-month SUB wheel and then using AMEX to supplement when good SUBs on their cards come up! Great strategy!

      @Ragnar0321 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KevinYang oh yeah I would agree I was just pointing out the obvious. I wish Amex would come out with lower AF card so we could have a more budget friendly trifecta. Since it’s competition like chase and other banks have really good options and for much lower. I also have chase freedom and the reason I don’t go for their trifecta is that the cards in the setup are very very similar to each other but that’s another topic in it self.
