    You made some good points, but you didn't mention Chase's transfer partners, which are probably the best of any credit card issuer. This is the big appeal of Chase and also where you can get great value when redeeming. Thanks for your good work!

      @@gracehuang8571personally I think Bill sucks. We are forced to use a multiple times. Just be able to get the rent bonus and a lot of people don't rent. I don't rent. I haven't rent in years and a lot of people don't either. A lot of people have roommates where it doesn't really count as rat unless you do some. Mike back door stuff or a lot of people have mortgages or there's a lot of people that don't have mortgages at all

    While I personally think that this setup could definitely use a refresh, I still see it being one of the most powerful beginner to intermediate credit card setups in the game solely because of the power of Chase's ecosystem. Those points are hard to beat!!

    What you say about complexity is so true. Sometimes trying to maximize a complicated card system takes a lot of time if you view it from an opportunity cost perspective. I want to spend my time working on my business and increasing my income, rather than dedicating time every day to figuring out what card to use, what credit cards to open, and what offers to take advantage of.

    • @KevinYang
      @KevinYang  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      100%! I think at a certain point we have to ask "how much is our time worth?". Spending hours of active time and *mental effort* to use a $50 credit, or spend that time working on something else to be even more productive

      @@deanyt3697but the whole argument here of what you're set up is defeat the whole purpose. The whole point of this conversation was to make things easier. More complicated, but platinum or even gold doesn't make things simpler. There are coupon books so you have to constantly make sure you're using these coupons just to get the effective fee of what you're getting out of it. So in reality, platinum and gold is really good. But it's a lot far more complicated than the chase trifecta and I hate the applicant. I actually hate it. I hate spies the fact that in order to get 2% you have to use your phone until each their own

    I think this video is a hot take. As a dad with a bunch of kiddos that don’t do a bunch of international travel, AMEXs redemptions are trash to me. I have the Gold/BBP, CSP and VX/C1S1 and I would definitely say that for every day, CSP and VX redemptions are way better than Amex. Next year I think I’m going to end up with a CFU, CFF and change my CSP to CSR.
    On the subject of groceries, it might be nice to stroll through the store to shop but with a ton of kids, I really don’t have time for that and picking up my groceries to minimize time spent is worth so much more to me than wandering around the store.
    All of that is to say that Chase points are more valuable than anything else, and an overhaul would only make them sweeter.

    • @soapa4279
      @soapa4279 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m 9 months late to this subject and I’m exactly the same. What I’ve found is that these TH-camrs put too much value in international transfer partners. Not going into detail but the amount of hoops and limitations of award flights would drive us crazy. So I like that I can simply use 1.5CPP with the Chase UR and know I got good redemption value on top of getting the exact dates of my flight or hotel stays. The Chase system is really just that simple.

    I think if the freedom unlimited was 1.75 or 1.875 with no other multipliers it would be way better, especially after introducing the freedom rise which has the 1.5x in everything multiplier. Or if they could have deals with hotels so when bookings are made from the travel portal, they can still honor status, that would be an honest game changer for Marriott and igh stays.

    as someone who has dabbled with C1, Amex, and chase, I have to say the flex has actually been my favorite card to spend on.
    - 5% back on grocery for first year
    - going to a TON of concerts this summer (700$ worth of festivals and concerts) and got 5% back on ALL OF IT for stuff I was already gonna spend on.
    - had 5% back on Amazon in Q2 when I was moving apartments and buying a ton of furniture/stuff online. And 9% on Whole Foods which became the closest grocery store to me
    For me the quarterly categories came at coincidentally incredible times when I had extra spend for them

    I have two of three cards in the trifecta and am seriously debating whether I should even bother getting the third to complete the trifecta. I rarely use my Chase cards now as I reach for my AMEX Gold, Citi Custom Cash (x2) cards, SoFi Credit Card, or my newest addition, the AAA Daily Advantage. Chase needs to REALLY revamp their trifecta because once the SUBs are completed, their cards are mediocre at best. Let’s cross our fingers that they FINALLY listen to us and revamp soon!

    IMO, I think the CSP is the most overrated card on the market. The multipliers are simply not good and there are not enough credits to cover the $95 AF. I currently run a Venture X and Amex Gold duo setup which compliment my lifestyle and spend the best. I don't see myself dipping into the Chase ecosystem ever besides maybe getting the CSP for the welcome offer and downgrading after a year.

    The other thing about the $50 hotel credit for CSP is that if you have status with hotel you do not get that with the hotels book through Chase Portal. So I agree with you that for a hypothetical $200 hotel night: 1. you get a worse rate, 2. you don't get any 5x points for that stay 3. you lose out on elite status benefit which could include possible room upgrade and breakfast credit. Add the three things up and it ends up as loss of greater than $50 and not worth it.

    You’re like the only guy on TH-cam to figure out that the trifecta setup is hogwash compared to other plans and strategies. Wish I had seen this before getting the chase preferred
    Most of the cash back are in items that are low multiples with the exception of dining. The rest is essentially junk.

      That's one way to look at it. That said, Chase points are still amazing, and I still personally have at least the Freedom Flex (for whenever the 5x categories make sense), and the CSP for higher redemption values for my points!

    I am currently starting my credit card journey, started with the Discover it card then later getting the Freedom Flex and the SavorOne. Still deciding which ecosystem is best for me and now I am starting to lean towards Capital One duo because of its simplicity, similar benefits to Chase , and no big over lap with the cards. Any thoughts or suggestions?

      I agree with you and have leaned into CO, that savor card is amazing for me and although transferring can be better value, sometimes I use the portals for simplicity’s sake and I vastly prefer the CO portal.

    Adding 5x categories with Chase Ink Cash makes Chase ecosystem far bettet than just trifecta.

    Maybe somebody here can let Chase know that since they decided I HAVE to have a phone which I DO NOT WANT, NEED OR HAVE to make a payment I have decided not to pay them until I can access my account on line as I have since I joined over ten years ago.
    Oh, and it doesn't help them get their payment since they decided to go paperless.
    AND, they still send me an email saying my payment is past due.
    My budget does not allow for a phone that I DO NOT WANT OR NEED.
    When we go to court the counter suit will be for pain and suffering for their decision to make it impossible to make a payment without a phone.
    Not to mention the damage to my credit score.

      Can't you just set up automatic payments? The first thing I do when I'm approved for a card is set up autopay so I can always pay it in full without thinking about it

      @@SabrinaHClifford What part of "can't access my account online" don't you comprehend?
      It is discrimination to force me to buy a phone and pay money out for something I don't not want, need or can afford that only recently became a requirement.
      My account which I had never missed a payment on is NOW the only ding on my credit report THROUGH NO FAULT OF MINE.

    You only told part of the truth with these cards. From what I’ve watched so far you didn’t even include travel partners. You just watered the cards down so other cards have more flavor..
