    Brandon Sullivan and his crew documented multiple strong to deadly violent tornadoes today across central Oklahoma.
    The first shot is approx 2 miles west of Shawnee, OK.. Brandon said this was some of the most violent motion he has ever witnessed and you could hear the roaring motion as the tornado tears across the land.. This tornado then went on to cause significant damage in Shawnee, Oklahoma..
    The second clip is from approximately 4 miles west of Shawnee, Oklahoma and is a powerful multi vortex/wedge tornado....
    The third and fourth clips are from near Luther, Oklahoma.. This storm produced the tornado near Edmond, OK earlier in the day..
    The final clip is the cone tornado near Edmond, OK earlier in the day.

    I'm from swokc/Moore and I've lived in Ok. My whole life and May of 2013 was by far the scariest I've eve experienced and for all the people that are posting negative comments I would just like to say not only were homes lost but schools and many people died including children so before you comment negatively think about if it was your town,your family( your kids) your house and your momentos that all disappeared in less than a minute....Oklahoma strong❤

    You provided a fine video. Steady, very good sound of the tornado, and no whoopin' it up and cursing. Very professional. After what happened last week to those three storm chasers, I now understand why you would want to get into your vehicle and move away before the storm turns towards you. Good work.

    There is nothing like a tornado. It is so surreal when it occurs. The sound. The wind. The pressure. The intensity. It is so other worldly. There was a funnel cloud that passed over our street. It didn't touch down but it sure rattled the trees. I was photographing my dog watching TV when I heard it so I have pictures. It started and was over so fast.

    Please realize the constraints of TH-cams 500 letter limit make it hard to give ample explanations here. But i suppose that is enough for now considering the extent of what can be explained.

    "Fossil" fuel is not meant to be taken literally. The deepest well ever was 40,502 Ft vertical and there are very few close to that. Most oil is found much higher then that, the average oil well depth (true vertical depth) in the U.S. is 6,000 Ft., in Kentucky the average depth is 1,400Ft...

    The tornado was determined finally to be an EF5, winds of 295 mph. The calculation was based on recorded windspeeds, not damage studies. First time I've ever heard of that method of calculating the Enhanced Fugita Scale.

    What was it, F2? Why people don´t put the strength of the tornado in details of the video..? I only see there words like "violent", "deadly" but that actually doesn´t say much.... I think it´s a bummer...

    Because 99% of the time, even in Oklahoma, your house will never be effected by a tornado, and the cost of making every house concrete would be much more than building houses out of cheaper materials that are easier to replace if lost in a storm. However, most houses and public buildings in Oklahoma are outfitted with concrete underground storm shelters, which is a fair cost compromise.

    An f5 tornado is going to knock down any house you put in front of it, be it logs, stone, brick, concrete, or even metal. 400+ mph wind and huge chunks of debris slamming into something tends to do that.

  • @7SuNo7
    @7SuNo7 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    But... cement, concrete, houses would be safer than wooden ones, overall, right? So plan ahead...

  • @benjamin5028
    @benjamin5028 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    They say the ground is to hard there for that. The tech and materials to build homes that can withstand these already exist. People have been building homes like that in Okinawa Japan for years. Their street lights are reinforced concrete 3 feet thick. At the very least enough home must remain intact enough for the people living there are not homeless. Only the non-fortified parts are destroyed..

  • @adamwillis6975
    @adamwillis6975 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's not that they build crap houses, the material and the way they are built need to be re-accessed and I'm sure every American would agree that safe bunkers must be mandatory under each home where solid multi-layer brick constructions held firmly into solid foundations, need to be used in these vulnerable areas, especially schools. The use of 50% brick and 50% wood is useless. They must be solid multi-layer brick/block constrictions. No tornado or hurricane has ever razed one. ever!!

    i wonder if placing houses very close to each other would help against tornados? here in Russia countryside houses are built tightly, so close to each other most building touch each other in big continous rows. while it's a huge fire hazard, I guess this way there is more resistance against strong winds than when you have houses many meters apart.

    • @THELASTWOUND
      @THELASTWOUND 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Then they're not houses anymore, and i don't really think it would have mattered for when an EF 4-5 stops by.
