Happy you're addressing the stalks everytime!
I don't get it. Tesla made a superb car and then ruins it will small stuff. So unnecessary. Just:
    - give us stalks
    - give us radar on adaptive cruise control
    - stop the auto high beam stuff
    - add rain sensors
    - bring back USS

    • @Murv
      @Murv 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

Agree, except the radar, that's insanely expensive for almost no gain.
But man the USS has just been a "thing you have to explain to everyone" with Tesla...
and with stalks they just added another to the list...
If they just added USS back and stalks 99.9999% of people would have barely any complaints with the car.

to reduce the "midbass" rattling as you mention it, I lowered the bass (second bar from the left on the equaliser settings) to -5 (like you did it to the sub bar) and left the sub bar at 0. This improved greatly the overall sound in my Model Y Long Range from Feb 2022 (MiC). When lowering the bass, the subwoofer gets less boomy. I had some overtime to fiddle around with the equaliser settings in my car :-) Greetings from tiny Luxembourg.

The annoying AP beeps happen on my 2022 M3 also. It happens without fail if I go through a section of motorway where there are traffic cones. It doesn’t matter that I’m looking at the road or holding the steering wheel. It’s extremely annoying… along with phantom braking being a lot worse recently. It will shit its pants if a car in a nearby lane goes anywhere near the edge of their lane. It can be very frightening especially for passengers so I now only use AP on empty motorways.
My car has got considerably worse with software updates over the past 12 months.

Since 2 months now, it bugs me in the exact same way as seen in the video and I have an 2019 AWD model 3. (Germany)
Since then, my trip meter is also pretty out of whack. It underestimates highway driving by a good 10% margin, and I don't know if I can trust the in-car navigation anymore to actually reach my targets because of that.

Most disappointing feature is, that you cannot take over the current detected speed limit for AP anymore. With past models you could either hold down the stalk (gone) or press the limit sign on the screen (now triggers the ISA function). As here in Austria the speed adaption on highways still does not work, I use this all the time in my Model 3.

I am sorry to say that the auto pilot issues are also on my 2022 M3P since last updates... It almost looks like Tesla started to use the camera to see if the driver is paying attention to the road. I tried to engage it while looking at the road and it did not beep... not only that, you can drive without applying torque on the wheel for much longer before it gives warning... The stupid part is that once it does beep and you look at the screen why it is beeping, it detects that you are not watching the road and the warnings escalates

I understand your concern about the lack of stalks. But there was already a similar situation in the past when Tesla introduced center-only display without instrument cluster with the first Model 3. And at the time, people were complaining about it as well, in a very similar fashion as they are complaining now about the lack of stalks. And it went away. Now most people would not even mention the lack of instrument cluster as a disadvantage.
So, while I also share the concern about the lack of stalks, I assume that Tesla has thought and analyzed it over very thoroughly before proceeding with such a significant change. So perhaps most people will be okay with it in a few years. We shall see.

As always, thanks a lot for the video! Very good one.
As an owner of 2021 LR I'm wondering why Tesla and every other brand are making things so overengineered? Just keep it simple. To have a great product you don't have to provide something extremely unique, you just need to make stuff working, working seamlessly.
    E.g. for Model3:
    1. Fix the stupid rain sensor. Just make it work somehow. If you can't (obviously) do so due to the hardware, at least add 4 levels of fine-tuning for auto wipers. Like VW does.
    2. Add matrix lights possibility. You already have Hella's LED matrix engine, so it's just a software. Instead of wasting your time on annoying things like driver monitoring, you better work on this, as even 10 years old cars have it. Lights are extremely important and if you claim, that your computing power of a car's processor is second to none - prove it. We don't need idiotic games in the cars, we need good lights!!!
    3. Cut the crap about your autopilot, it sucks. Again, if you have such a great hardware and software, why I still can't use simple adaptive cruise control in traffic jams? Why it's accelerating and decellerating like a crazy driver? Just make the car to drive smoothly and keep a reasonable distance at least in traffic jams - this is a real use case, not stupid autopilot, which is anyway not working at all. The same for high speeds. Why the car can't just smoothly drive with the traffic? Breaking sometimes with brakes, where it's not needed and regen would be enough. And then you have to wait until the distance would become like 2 km to the front car to finally start catching the distance back.
I'm not talking about bodyworks and etc. Only software. Work on real use cases, stop reinventing the wheel...

The binging is not only for the new Model 3 unfortunately. It came with the holiday update to every Tesla.
Autopilot has been severly crippeled - and with every update it gets worse.
You literally cannot use the lanechange feature near exitramps. It has false speed map data in many places. You have to deactivate high beams every times.
You have to deactivate the whiper every time. The B pillar cams constantly get fogged up in winter - despite having them replaced once already.
The blinker bleeds into the front fender cameras, so sometimes it will not change lanes when it is dark - no free replacement despite paying 7,5k for FSD.
And the latest bug seems to be lane depature not available constantly.
Despite all its flaws, I want 2020 AP back. Or give us the FSDbeta stack. It is absolute dogshit where it is now.

Also, in my commute, itnotified me about 5 times that I should keep my eyes on the road. And I swear I did. But as soon as you glance over the screen, it goes off. Feels like I'm being retrained by AI...In the end it shut down autopilot for the rest of the (1 hour) trip. When I got home, it showed me a warning that it would shut down autopilot completely if it happened 4 more times. Now i taped off the internal camera and everyting is cool again. For now. The weird thing with the high beams of the Highland is that they don't seem to bother the oncoming traffic a lot. Often I think "please turn down the high beam now you $%&§ of an assistant!" but the oncoming traffic doesn't complain. I think these new lights might not be as intrusive and annoying as others (or the previous ones).
Oh, and I think the sound system is not better than before. Something on this system doesn't fit my ears. Not only the bass, I don't like some of the mid to high range, too.
Beside these two things, I like the Highland as a daily driver/long distance car much more than my 2021 Performance - but it don't feel so attached to it as I was to my Performance. The ride is so much better, but now it is "normal", it doesn't have this brutal stickiness to the road without any side movement as the Performance had. I'm missing my Performance, it made me smile every time I came to the car, it was something special. Until you went over the first bump and almost lost your fillings :-)

In my opinion, Tesla Vision sucks and ruins an otherwise great driving experience. Tesla Vision's phantom braking, mandatory high beams and autowipers (both are mediocre) when using AutoPilot, and too many beeps and nags when using AutoPilot/AutoSteer are all very annoying.
A friend rode with me in my 2023 Tesla Model Y LR (built in Austin) last Summer on a vacation trip from Dallas to Jackson, WY (3,500 miles round trip). Before we started the trip, he was ready to buy a Tesla but after experiencing a ridiculous amount of phantom braking caused by road surface heat reflection on a 100+ degrees Fahrenheit day in Texas, he changed his mind and leased a Mustang Mach E Extended Range. Sure, the Mach-E doesn't have the best drivetrain, BMS, and tech, but it doesn't phantom brake and the auto high beams and wipers work. And, starting next month he will begin to have access to Tesla's Supercharger stations. So, for him, it's a better and more reliable vehicle than Tesla.
I sometimes wonder if Tesla's recent success has gone to their head and they've stopped listening to customers? The recent elimination of stalks and Creep stopping mode (great for stop-n-go driving) exceeds even my threshhold for things annoying in a car. Nobody has asked Tesla to remove the stalks and radar, yet they have removed them. I've stopped using AutoPilot because it's easier to live with the car and not deal with all the quirks, beeps, and nags. Ironic, isn't it? I've bought 3 Teslas since 2019 but, for now, I would no longer consider buying one and I no longer recommend them to friends.

If the new Model Y Juniper does not get en range increase they will defently lose marketshare, for sure now that chinese market is saturated they will flood the European market with cheap EVs.
