You will never cease to amaze me!!! Well done you... I really miss my Scooby two and each time I meet a bongonaut, I make sure to direct them to you as you made our bongo experience magical! Saludos desde Valencia!
Awesome, you’re an inspiration mate! Thanks for posting this. I’ve even bought a welder now and you’ve given me the inspiration to fix mine up myself 👌
Your bongo is so lovely, I'm sure you have even more reason it to love it than my own - I had the same, welding to do, I was always scared of welding, thinking it would cost me a forrtune. Thankfully whilst it wasnt cheap, it was great to get it done. I am really impressed you could do this yourself - must of saved so much money (25 quid for parts !!!) !! Did you learn to weld yourself or is it your main job (you state your note a professional, but it looks brilliant !!) ? What would you recommend to learn how to weld ? I had my sills done professiionally, but i would love to do it myself in the future ! Fantastic video - thank you and so glad your bongo is still on the road ! Could you make some videos on welding ? Horray for that pass for 8:02 !!! :D
Hi Thanks for the feedback :) Yes I learned to weld myself from the school of TH-cam 😂 I'm very much an amateur, but can see improvement every time I give it a go! it's the think rusty metal that is the most difficult to work on (i.e. Bongo metal). I don't think I know enough about welding to put out any kind of instructional video, but there are loads of really great channels showing you how to weld already on TH-cam.
Now the rot and cruds out,get sp50 in through the drain holes in outriggers and sill ends and everywhere else you know is solid, the next place to go will be the rear end of the sills and rear lower arches(if rear arches are still original).Sp50 isnt cheap but it works.
Hiya mate love the videos I 2 have a bongo with welding that needs to be done. I can’t afford garage prices but I’m fairly confident in having a go. What welder do I need? Cheers lee
I can recommend the one I have - Clarke 102NG - It's a reasonable price and the lowest amp setting is pretty good for thin metal. I used SIP brand wire in it (0.8mm) but the Clarke wire was pretty good that came with it. Best advice I got from watching TH-cam vids was to practise on lots of scrap metal and get used to it. I watched a lot of TH-cam videos on welding and that helps a lot! Welding appears to be an art form that I only really appreciated when I started welding myself :) Also be very careful with overheating the weld and sparks as it's very easy to set fire to things. Have a fire extinguisher and fire blanket. Cheers 👍
@@chris777-c1k Definitely! I forgot to film that bit, but I did remove the step and taped up the wires in that area. The danger of causing a fire during welding is a real fear of mine!!

Thanks mate! I have another video about the first time I tried welding - th-cam.com/video/-iWuNvUKQEQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NcVmUAjbdoAU_84W
Wow superman getting that fixed up Ian star man, great to see you back on screen, been a while
Thanks Bren! I'm just glad my van passed the MOT :)
Well done on the repairs definitely worth having a portable welder with an older vehicle 👍
Oh definitely, every Bongo should come with a welder 😂

Arches are on my to do list! I wish I could spend time with a garage ramp so I could get underneath and sort everything out properly :) Cheers 👍
