Now the rot and cruds out,get sp50 in through the drain holes in outriggers and sill ends and everywhere else you know is solid,the next place to go will be the rear end of the sills and rear lower arches(if rear arches are still original).Sp50 isnt cheap but it works.

Your bongo is so lovely, I'm sure you have even more reason it to love it than my own - I had the same, welding to do, I was always scared of welding, thinking it would cost me a forrtune. Thankfully whilst it wasnt cheap, it was great to get it done. I am really impressed you could do this yourself - must of saved so much money (25 quid for parts !!!) !! Did you learn to weld yourself or is it your main job (you state your note a professional, but it looks brilliant !!) ? What would you recommend to learn how to weld ? I had my sills done professiionally, but i would love to do it myself in the future ! Fantastic video - thank you and so glad your bongo is still on the road ! Could you make some videos on welding ? Can I ask how did you fix the wood to the metal frame? The most controversial part of our bongo is the bed set up, the original seats are so lumpy and I'm looking to swap them out for something flat. I like the idea of being able to keep the original frame because the runners are so useful. Your vids are giving me some great ideas so thanks so much for documenting your conversion adventures :-)

Hi Matey . We have just had our Timing Belt done at Bongo Spares. Great job. We stopped in the Malthouse Hotel just up the road. We used our Pensioners Bus Pass and wandered around Sewerby Bridge and Wetherspoons for a Beer at £1.89 a pint. Thanks for your vid it helped us a lot. ❤ George and jane

just about to install a wood floor into my own bongo and watching this for tips! How did you secure the floor to the van? I've been trying to work out how everyone does it, but so far that step is seemingly glossed over. Does the floor just stay in place once all the trim is in? Thanks!

My only issue with cupboards behind the front seats, if you need to work on the engine, eg a service, you can't flip the front seats back as intended with a cupboard in the way. (Engine is under the front seats)

I live in Oklahoma and I have a 1996 Bongo friendee, it does not charge its battery in the kit that came from the factory,( kitchen, sink) where can I get the solution and some accessories. What do you advise me to do?

Hi! I’ve read in the comments that your Bongo is the 2.0 petrol version. I just wanted to ask if you feel it’s a good volume for this car? Is there any situation when you feel it suffers from a lack of power, or is it just alright all-around if you don’t need to break acceleration records? I’ve been deciding between 2.0 and 2.5 liter petrol tin-top, and from what I’ve read the 2-liter 4-cylinder is less thirsty and one of Mazda’s very reliable, tried-and-tested engines. I was inclined to get that one, but was just wondering, whether the 2 extra cylinders and higher power (but also consumption) is maybe worth it?

My Bongo is 220kms in now & with only one recorded cambelt change in it's lifetime, it needs doing but quotes I've had are around £700 often supplemented with a friendly " yea mate, it's not easy to change on a Bongo" Thanks (I think) for reminding me to get on with it.
