Without a dramatically different OS experience, the base model iPad is good for the vast majority of people. The experience feels almost the exact same for the same cost as a Magic Keyboard

Anything less than a 13" can keep the large phone experience for all I care, I just wish the top line pro had macOS, no excuse with the pencil making for an excellent pointing device at that resolution/scale.
Literally, I just have a iPad Air 5 for school and notes and it’s more than enough
Well, this is the issue - not enough pro apps. Artists would prefer (as I do) the pro displays, OLEDis ace of course and colour accuracy for sure and better pencils but we don’t have full blown Photoshop, we can’t run Pro modelling software, though some indie offerings are getting good now. We can’t quite do full video production to the quality we could on a Mac. Give MacOS capable of running Photoshop,Blender, Unity, XCode, Final Cut, Steam (not gonna happen) but I’d take Apple Store for Mac software…

I’m betting the 12.9 Air will be the most popular new iPad because the extra screen is all many current iPad Air owners want. The 12.9/13 inch Pro with OLED will be next most popular because it’s supposed to be a bit lighter with a fraction more battery usability. The 11” Pro brings up the rear. The issue for all of them is the peripheral/accessory additional costs like that way overpriced keyboard, which puts them at a point where going with an older M2 model with cheaper p/a from third-party makers being a decision factor.
Yeah, primary audience for the 13” iPP will be as a laptop replacement for power users who prefer iPadOS to MacOS (like me; primarily because VoiceOver is so much more easily used than is the accessibility software in macOS).

I am hoping for the following: Stage manager be more dex. Apple releases a first party solution to Remote onto your Mac. Calculator app. Have the magnetic connectors to come to more 3rd party manufacturers not just Logitech. Ability to use universal control on IPad & iPhone.

🐬 Great Video. There are pros and cons to be solely an iPad user, but if it possible to own a Mac and an iPad, then I think that works for most workflows. I am still excited for the new iPads because mine is currently ancient by tech standards 😂.
The same thing was said about the previous iPads. I was waiting for it as it was slated to roll out last March. It did not and I ended up getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+. The discounts and price cuts were just too tempting.
I would grab one in a heart beat, but no decent vector software on Android....
As an M1 IPad Pro owner, due to the lack of capabilities presented by IPadOS , have yet to use my iPad Pro to its potential let alone exceed that potential to the point of needing an upgrade. There’s a reason the iPad product line is declining so much in sales and I doubt an updated screen and processor is going to help.

What would you do with the M3 Pro in the iPad Pro given the software available… what would be prepared to pay a premium to have the Pro chip to do, what does the M3 or even the M1, not do that the M3 Pro would enable?

unless Apple provides extra ports, and iPadOS would need to take a ton of leaps, a M3 processor, more RAM and a new screen or build is not going to cut it.
i dont see a way an iPad can maximize the performance of a M3.

My expectations concerning the New iPads relates 1 to 1 to the abillity of the software. I am in need of a device which can run Adobes Lightroom Classic. At this moment in time I am up to or a MacBook Pro with at least M3-Pro processor (this runs the program OK) or a new iPad Pro M3. My way of living at the moment and for the foreseable future suits the iPad best.
I just bought the ipad pro 12.9 for my wife today. Do you think i should return it and wait thank you.

A lot of people seem to get mad about possible M4 Chips (better supporting KI features) later this year. I still love my M1 iPad Pro 12.9. Not sure if I will skip the M3 one in 2024 and wait for the M4 iPad Pro in 2025 ...
My 2018 pro is starting to make noises so i'm really banking on these new ipads.

I have the 2015 pro. Works decent, except it dies with a full battery in 10 mins. Definitely upgrading this year.

With all the updated chips and new features to devices, Apple should put the M3 Pro chip in the iPad Pro and the M3 in the iPad Air! Just a thought!
the pencil squeeze isnt really a gimmick. many have issues with the double tap and the squeeze features on the airpods work amazing.
if theres double taps and squeeze then you have an extra input for your pencil

I really with they would keep Touch ID on all devices from iPhone to iPad Pro, I have had nothing but issues with Face ID it’s useless! Whereas finger print I’ve never had any issues with it, and it can be used anywhere anytime regardless of light levels. 😊

You and me both. I want that iPad and almost got it yesterday but was convinced to wait for the new ones. The newer ones will likely be too expensive for me and thr 12.9 seems like it’s more than enough for me anyways. I’m so conflicted lol

At this point iPads are overpowered for what they can do with available software which is extensive. I’m going smaller cheaper iPad and getting a Mac laptop. Used an iPad Pro since 2018.

It won’t happen as it would cannibalize MacBook Air sales. This is why Apple hasn’t gone with touch screens on Macs as that could compete and perhaps replace the higher end iPad Pros.

The iPads with M chips do horrible on battery life compared to MacBooks. A regular iPad that allowed Magic Keyboard would be ideal for me but then apple probably knows that it’s cannibalize the iPad Pro sales 😂

I think Apple is expanding the product lineup too much, too many models with now really few differences between them, and the Pro doesn't feel that Pro anymore unless somthing changes in the OS, don't think theres a real need of making a 12.9" iPad Air
Drip feed features are all overpriced... Buy the present model when the new ones arrive... Stay one generation behind the latest and save at least a 1/3...

OLED is the only selling point. It matters for people that use them for content consumption.
