*I Agree and with a Price of $649 for the M1 Macbook Air it's HILARIOUS how people associate Number with better. M2 is better then M1 because its number 2 and the M3 is better then the M2 because it says 3 and not even realizing that the M1 can do A LOT in it's Base form, so It's still a GREAT Macbook Air Rose Gold M1 for $500 at Costco and THAT was a Steal. People need to stop reading reviews an just go by what will work for them*
@@BlackapinoTheTechGuy I don't think most people on youtube are content creators, but you're right if you are a content creator then you should definitely know that the base model isn't for you.
the business on ipad is in the next level. every ipad size has its own usage, currently owning a mini iphone and a largest ipad and it's so tempting to buy a "regular" size ipad just to read
I bought the 12.9 pro and invested in keyboard cases and the Apple Pencil. After I bought the mini for its mobility I found myself using the pro even less. Just sold my pro and all the cases. It was just collecting dust at this point.
I too invested in Magic Keyboard, Pencil and 11” pro and MBP 13” and after buying a Mini 6 256GB on launch day in Australia for AU$1,000 and love it, use it way more than the pro, and if I had to choose one; then mini it is. Pity there is not a decent keyboard and I doubt Apple will ever bring out a magic keyboard for iPad mini…. they should as all aftermarket keyboards are rubbish….
I don't think the 7th gen will be that much better. I've done the homework and it will have the same display, the processor will be an improvement but not that big of one. The camera will be improved but who really uses an iPad mini for a camera? Keep your 6 and save some bread.
I had the Ipad pro, with the pencil and keyboard. Then I bought the ipad mini and preferred it so much over the heavier ipad pro that I gave the ipad pro to my dad lol. Its so light that I can bring it with me anywhere, work, travel, bed, the kitchen. Its excellent for media consumption, reading through my emails and doing quick replies. I bought a leather notebook cover for it so its like a small diary or notebook :)
I’ve had 7th Gen iPad, iPad Air 4, and current iPad Pro 12.9. I can honestly say. My next setup will be iPad mini and probably MacBook Air M4. After 5ish years of using my iPads as “laptop replacements” I agree with you. I don’t need a combo device because honestly even the iPad Pro sucks at doing that. But the combo of both would be great
I have an iPad Mini 6 and a 4 model before that. The 6 is my constant companion whenever I travel, for business and leisure. I can do everything with it - email, video conferences, travel arrangements and before long flights I download several movies. I just came back from an 11 day business trip to Asia. I took my laptop, but didn’t open it once.
6:15 you’ve literally answered my long unanswered question! I was always on the fence about iPad being a laptop replacement, but here you made me realise that it’s exactly that I don’t want something that’s trying to be an iPad and a laptop, I think that an iPad mini and a MacBook Air would be far better than one iPad Pro. Great quality vid as always 👍, thanks for unintentionally answering my question 😂
@@JonAdamsTech not yet but definitely something I’m hoping for, atm I’m on the iPad Air 4 w/ Magic Keyboard and pencil. It’s super great for what I use it for, the only thing is I don’t think that the rest of the industry is leaning into the whole iPad as laptops, it’s great for TH-cam and basic work but stuff like making documents and general app support for professional work ain’t great (*cough* Microsoft word *cough*). But thinking about an iPad mini + MacBook Air just makes sense. The mini is great (had gen 2 loved it) for general stuff plus some animating, and MacBook is great for work plus the m2 is down to £999! *plus the MacBook can work with displays
I have both (11 inch Pro) and find that I use the Mini6 more often. Generally speaking, if I need to type or watch video I use the Pro. If not I usually reach for the Mini. Perfect size for reading, quick notes and apps that don’t require real estate. Overall happy that I have both.
Phone & tablet size has disproportionately risen lately when they were always originally intended to be small, the iPhone mini 13 & the iPad mini 6 are the perfect combination of fully functioning lightweight powerful products in a compact portable format, expensive yes but totally unique & niche. I always buy the cellular version of ipads, yes it increases the initial purchase price but the convenience of cellular especially when travelling is worth it, so easy to pop in a prepaid data sim or activating the esim for connectivity is a bonus I don’t understand why some people limit themselves to just wifi.
Bought the iPad Mini a couple of years ago, and had no need for the Pro. Actually could afford the Mini unlike the Pro. Read books, watch shows, use it to track my life total for MTG, and so many more things.
I have the iPad mini 6 and use it daily. I love it. The only downsides I see are the lack of ProMotion (I'm used to it on my iPhone 15 Pro) and sometimes I find the screen a little bit small for drawing or making mind maps.
I own both a Pro and Mini. I use the Pro with a Magic Keyboard daily for work. Not a complete replacement for a laptop but verb close. I bought the Mini for its portability and for note taking. I like it but use it less than I thought I would. Fun review to watch.
Hey thanks for checking out the video. I think that’s the thing I love about the iPad line up most, everyone can find the iPad that works best for their workflow and lifestyle.
I love my iPad mini 6. It’s a great consumption device. I also use to take notes in lectures paired with Apple Bluetooth keyboard and it becomes discrete note taking device.
@@JonAdamsTech the touch screen does the job. Basically I use Pages during the lectures. Just typing no crazy stuff. When I need a doodle the pencil works fine.
My first iPad was an iPad Pro 12.9 inch. I got an iPad Pro 11 inch last Christmas because the iPad Pro 12 inch was just too expensive. The 11 inch works great for me (as an artist), being large enough for drawing and also more portable than the 12.9 inch.
Yeah for sure, I’m actually planning a follow up video on who the larger iPad would be better for, I love that there’s an iPad that suits everyone’s workflow!
I had the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 but got rid of it because whenever I dozed off, it would hit me..either in the chest or face…and it would hurt. I love my iPad mini 6.
I still have an iPad Pro 11 inch after having the iPad mini. I miss that form factor so damn much. 😊 I found I could bring it EVERYWHERE. It’s like how photographers describe cameras. “The best camera is the one you have with you.” I wish I could get a refreshed iPad mini.I’d buy one in a heartbeat.
I have an iPad Pro 9,7” and I use it a lot, but I not always carry with it because I have been using a Galaxy ZFold as regular phone, and it’s a mini-tablet when you open it. I love that ZFold advantage, but it’s a delicate product and I want to replace with a regular smartphone, and it makes me to think about the convenience to substitute my iPad Pro 9,7 with an iPad Mini that is more portable. If I also consider I have a Surface Go too, that means that if a PC is needed I have also a very portable one, or if I want to watch a TV serie at bed, I could select between the Surface Go and the iPad Mini, now I am always choosing the iPad over the Surface for this uses. I am thinking in it
I mean the iPad mini still rocks! I’ve heard so many folks who barely drop their zfold and the screen breaks. Literally last week a friend had this happen, I’d break that thing in a day by accident
As a musician working in a live band and frequently recording our live gigs i couldn’t work with anything smaller than ipad pro 12.9. In fact i cant wait for a larger version to appear on the market particularly as logic pro for ipad is now my go to DAW application. For media consumption i keep to my affordable android tablets. If Apple produced a foldable screen ipad mini that opened up into a large format that would be ideal but imagine what outrageous price they would charge for that. Dream on.
That’s awesome! I’m a worship pastor so I use the iPad Pro every week for that. What instrument do you play? And yes that would be so expensive but I’d gladly pay it if it makes my job easier!
I’ve found that the IPad Air 5 is the best device. I went from a 12.9 to this a year ago and I love it. It feels good in my hands and light and easy to carry around and then when I want to get series work down I can plug it into a monitor and get work done. I work 90% of the time from a iPad.
I have an iPad Pro M2 256GB and an iPad mini 6 2565GB and love them both. Apple makes the most incredible tablets. The display on each one is just beautiful. I'm waiting to see what the M3 iPad Pro OLED offers but for now....I'm very happy with what I already have.
I have the iPad 11 pro (500 Gig Cellular) that I use daily, however I had issues flying with it for navigation use. The plane that I have been flying just doesn't have adequate space to mount the pro, the iPad mini 6 256 wifi that I recently purchased was purchased just for when I am flying, it works perfectly in the cockpit, would have preferred Cellular but I already have too many items on my data plan as it is. I just use my phone as a wifi hotspot for when I need data to upload flight plans.
A friend of mine just sent me this video and I was amazed with your consciousness and also your ability to communicate. It came out as a surprise for me seeing that you just started making yt content. Keep going!
I use to upgrade my phones every year and wouldn’t keep an iPad as I always found it unwieldy. I never liked the mini 5 because at the time (2020), everything had the new design. The mini 6 came out and I’ve had mine since 2021. Every time I think about getting a pro or air, I can’t do it. The mini is perfect companion for my MacBook Air, and travel!
@@JonAdamsTech MacBook Air m2! I would still be rocking a m1 but a trade in offer came along in 2022 where I could get the same spec but in m2 for only $150 difference so I couldn’t pass it up!
Thank you for breaking it down the difference. I am looking for something for recipes and cookbooks plus for overlanding offline maps. I see a few TH-cam channels use iPad mini for maps on the dash.
Ipad mini is great for that! You should do a channel for your overlanding, I love those kinds of youtube channels

The problem with the iPad Mini will be the sales figures of just 7% of the lineup. It will probably discontinued because apple doesn’t advertise it for the right use cases. It could be a game changer for so many people especially in medical field.
Yeah I totally agree, or as we just saw they will use it to use up all their old stock of iPhones chips

@@JonAdamsTech I have seen so many good approaches to use, but they will never really be well received because there is too little marketing and support from Apple in this direction. I would like to give an example here. My son has to go to university clinics near us because of his disability. One department switched to an iPad mini as a test to collect data from patients and share the data between the individual areas. Instead of lots of papers, you now sign on a screen, have complicated operations explained on a 3D object and imaging procedures can be shown and shared. The small iPads fit into the doctors' and nurses' coats and, especially with the pen, many entries can be sent quickly and directly to the doctors. It's a shame that Apple is missing out on a huge market opportunity here.
Love my iPad mini 6 256 cellular. It is the sharpest of the iPad line with a 324 ppi vs 264 for the pro and air. Side by side text is sharper than the larger iPads.
I had iPad mini 5 a few years ago, then tried the second hand iPad pro 12.9 2017 for 1-2 years, and now trying the 10.5 iPad Pro for several months, me personally like the size of 11 inch as a balance of weight and screen size, I do mind map, and like to read large page, so I prefer the 11 inch size a bit more, but the mini is really a good weight, and really handhold-able. I might be a bit strange, I want the next iPad to have a delicate 3.5mm headphone jack for my Sennheiser HD25 headphone.
I love them both, so I have them both! I traded in my 11” for a gift card. 3 iPads was too many, but I used the Mini and the 13” Pro the most. The 11” Pro only got used if it happened to be closest to me. Giving up the 13” or the Mini is just unthinkable now!
I sold my basic iPad Mini 2 days before the presentation, hoping for an upgrade. Since we haven’t heard anything about Mini 7 yet, I now want to take it in its maximum configuration. I have a Suface Pro 9 x 13" and it is NOT a tablet. It is big, heavy, and inconvenient. You need to carry a backpack for it all the time. I really miss the Mini
Dang that’s such a bummer! Sorry to hear that. You may want to wait for wwdc in June though just to see if they announce something there. If they don’t the mini still feels great!
@@JonAdamsTech Yes, I'm waiting for the WWDC presentation in hopes of good news. I use the iPad Mini for school, work and games, so 64 GB is not enough for me, but the form factor itself is wonderful. Thanks for the answer. We are waiting for news.
I was literally about to pull the trigger on an M1 iPad Air (WiFi) but towards the end of your video you brought up one very important point, the iPad mini is not trying to be something it’s not. I already have an M1 MacBook Air, I literally have it next to my tv and use it to watch TH-cam, THATS IT! Like wth did I even get it? With that said, I’m not looking for a laptop replacement but rather something I can take to work because whenever I get sent to school for continuous learning, one of the requirements is having an iPad because the classes are conducted using them. So I’m in a place where I want an iPad, but I don’t want to only think about the rare times I will get sent off to school, I also want to think about how I will use it when I’m not in school. So of course I think about what I use my phone for nowadays and base it off that. I like to do a lot of typing, I build custom keyboards as a hobby, yes thats a thing. So I’ve literally been connecting my keyboards to my phone and typing away when I’m not at home. Weird I know, but a lot of fun if you’re into the same hobby. I find myself saying “if only my phone was a little bigger I can see the text perfectly”. So I’m now leaning towards the iPad mini. Maybe with cellular, or I can simply use my phones hotspot and save myself the bigger bill from adding the extra line. Anyways, mini it is 😊
First off I absolutely love keyboards so I totally get the hobby! Secondly, I think you’d be super happy with the mini if you already have the m1 MBA, that thing still feels snappy when doing normal tasks. Do you think you’ll wait till the June event to see if they launch new iPads or just go for the current mini?
Honestly, given that my job is sending me off to school in less than 1 month, I’m going to go for the current Mini. I’m just a bit put off by the price tag for a brand new one, so I opted for a Renewed one through Amazon. Got the Wifi with cellular, 256gb, a case and a 2gen Apple pen, all for $582. Hopefully there’s nothing wrong with it, then again Amazon is very good at returns should I find it’s not working as it should. Since this little guy will be my introduction into the iPad world I figured if I fall in love with the thing then perhaps I’ll consider the newest Mini in the near future lol. Again, thanks for your video on the Mini, it really sold me on it 🙏😁
I always err on the side of more memory to get more years out of my iPhones and iPads. My 2018 iPad Pro 12.9” has 512GB and I have used only about 256GB so far. I usually use a Kindle to read books but I miss the ability to see colors on maps and charts. I’ve been thinking about an iPad Mini for a more convenient size and to see colors and I would probably buy one with 128GB if it had a Pro Motion display.
As per Apple's official words, the iPad mini is the most-loved iPad. It's just a shame that the last time it had feature parity and had annual upgrades was about 10 years ago. I also agree with the fact that the mini doesn't try to be a laptop replacement, hence what makes it much more enjoyable to use.
I love the Ipad mini. I got it when it came out and I still love it till this day. Now mind you I only have the WIFi version but I plan on getting the cellular version one day. But it is the best.
This is so true. I went from a 12 inch pro to the air to the mini. I realized I didn’t need all that screen. Mac mini and iPad mini is all I need. I do hope the next iPad mini has a Smart Keyboard
Yeah I f they could make some solid accessories to the mini it would be a game changer! Did you keep those other iPads or sell them to pay for the mini?
@@JonAdamsTech It was a line of trades. So the pro was traded in for the air (paid $50) then the air was traded in for the pro (paid $150). It’s funny it worked out that way since the pro is more expensive than the rest of them but age definitely impacted the trade value (this was across about 2-2.5 year span). Also, using a controller with the mini is a game changer! I actually sold my switch because I am using my mini so much for gaming! Thanks for this video and reminding me why I switched to the mini!
For such a quality video, seeing you have just around 5k subs was what surprised me. Everything you said in the video was absolutely spot on. You earned my sub.
My iPad Mini is my go to 90% of the time. I do email on it. I read on it. I edit photos on it. I also have a M1 iPad Air that i use for correspondence and a M1 Macbook Air I use for Zoom. Neither of them are used every day while I use the Mini often for hours. I am retired so I don’t have many business oriented needs.
Best decision to get one used. Does everything I need and some gaming. Videos are great and I honestly don’t really notice the 60hz screen. Only gripe is the space. It needs to be a minimum 128 gbs. 256 was too expensive. 128 you’ll have most popular apps and a healthy gaming collection downloaded.
I prefer the pro for the screen as I mainly use for content consumption and watching movies on a plane. The iPad mini was too small. I have the iPhone pro max so I found myself picking that up when I wanted a smaller device
I have the M2 iPad Pro, the mini and just purchased a M2 MacBook Air. planning on selling my iPad Pro. It's just too heavy with a keyboard case on it and I don't need two iPads. very happy with my choices in devices! love my mini
@@JonAdamsTech I started with the midnight m3 but returned and it decided to get the starlight M2. The midnight color is still a fingerprint magnet and it scuffs very easily. I used it for an hour and had my Apple Watch on with a leather band and somehow it scuffed off some color at the edge on the left side. Was not happy with it. Decided I didn't ned the M3 since I don't do photo editing or graphic intensive apps. M2 was a great choice getting it refurbished!
@@JonAdamsTech Awful choice!! I got the refurbished one today and right out of the box it is not working right! Every time I put it in standby mode or close the lid and reopen it, the laptop completely freezes! Spent hours talking to Apple and reinstalled the OS and the problem still persisted. It's getting returned and I am staying with the M3!
@@lissa2679 That's crazy! You're literally the first person I've ever heard have a problem with a refurbished apple product, terrible luck! Hopefully the M3 works great for you!
Nice, glad you like it! I really enjoy both devices so I’m going to do a follow up video on why the iPad Pro may be better for some folks than the iPad mini. Thanks for checking out the video!
Best iPad out of the three is iPad Pro 11 inch. Just won’t get the use case out of the Mini compared to iPhone pro max. Ipad 12.9 is king as its use case is perfect for everything. So the sweet spot is 2022 lineup iPhone pro for all networking needs. Mini for travel, iPad Pro M1 11inch for home, MacBook M1 Air for work 💪🏾. Watch, AirPods Pro’s and your at full house 💯
That’s a great ecosystem! Do you currently have a MacBook Air or are you doing most of your work from the 12.9 ipad? Thanks for checking out the video, I’m going to be doing another one of 5 ways the iPad Pro is better so make sure to sub!
I got rid of my iPad mini 5 and purchased an 11" M2 iPad pro last year. I regret it. If I wasn't going to take a sizeable loss on my purchase I'd sell it and get another mini. Really wish the iPad Mini 7 was closer to release date. I'm going to get that when it comes out. Totally miss the handling and using it for a reading device.
I feel you, I hate when I make those mistakes. Have you checked how much you can sell your iPad Pro for though? Those still should be selling for pretty solid money.
Pretty much sums up the my thoughts. The Mini is a much more practical option for a little extra screen space for daily use without needing to acquire new habits to make it work. You use like you’d use your phone and still get the additional screen space.
I mainly use the iPad for art and I want to get an iPad mini six just because I need a second monitor to use for reference while I’m drawing. I wish they could just update the iPad split screen or slide over where you could like resize the slide over to place on top of another program. You can place it on top of another program, but it’s just really big. I’ve tried you know stage manager, but if you put it on top with stage manager and you’re in a drawing program, you can’t use your touch gestures to undo so it defeats the purpose. I know I could just use procreate because it has its own like reference window thing, but I don’t really like procreate. I use Clip Studio, but they said that the new version of the iPad mini might come out anytime so I guess I’ll wait until the end of the year to see what happens. I don’t really slide over because it takes up too much screen real estate when you’re drawing.
@@JonAdamsTech yeah I think they announced the new iPad Mini 7. It's probably going to come out in in a couple months they're saying. But yeah it's so annoying. All I want to be able to do is like resize slide over and move it around to put on top of other programs. If I could just resize it it would be perfect. But you can only like resize it as a split screen. And when you're drawing and you have a reference out, it's just so much better to have it floating on top of your program. I found some apps that let you put reference images in picture and picture so I'm using that. But it's also kind of annoying because you can't put it wherever you want on the screen. It either has to be somewhere in the top or bottom right? Or left. You can't put it in the middle if you want it there. So you have to move like your drawing canvas to where your reference is.
the decision fatigue is real. However i have set up a system to decide which ipad to use. The mini i bring with a foldable kb when i really just wanna bring a small pouch and my intention is just to read and do the occasional messaging. Also it’s my go to if i wanna bring a MacBook Air out since then it is just a complementary tablet to do tablet sketches or specific iPadOS apps. The iPad Pro 11 is what i bring out when i wanna do normal office work (simple excel, writing but no slides) but i dont need the macbook for coding, etc. the iPad Pro 11 is amazing with a folio keyboard because the iPad mini with a small Bluetooth keyboard is just bulky (for the mini) and uncomfortable with cramp typing. So ipad pro11 is the MacBook Air 11 i wished apple made with the M series chip. The iPad Pro 13 i use when i just want a huge canvas to work with be it sketching, doing mind maps, etc.. or when i wanna binge watch youtube and im sure i dont need to do advanced office work (slides, coding, etc) cuz its never a laptop replacement for advanced office work (just too many inconvenient steps) so between a MBA and a iPad Pro 13 i am just gonna go with the MBA for serious work to be done.
@@JonAdamsTech have all.. i get all my ipads second hand so its much cheaper. hard to comment without using. i used to think 11 inch is not necessary until i got a good deal and realize i really love it.
I realize im both late to the video and buying but I just ordered an Ipad mini 6 today. Its rumored that the new one will be dropping next month, but ive always noticed that the OS pulls it back every single time. The ipad mini will still be getting IpadOS 18 compatibility so at the end of the day you don't really need the M2, A18 stuff. I understand how people might look at it and go hey new processor great choice and im sure there will be a difference but is it necessary if youre already opting for the smaller screen? I cant imagine anyone would get an ipad mini for the most important work and most people have laptops and whatnot for that. I got an amazon prime deal for $350 and I think that will be worth it for sure. People need to realize to leave the macbooks to their job and the ipad to their job. Just my opinion
Honestly, being one of the many who were waiting and thinking Apple would put a version of macOS onto the iPad pro M1 +, I’m considering switching to an iPad mini; easier to carry around at work & do part-time courses & gaming
Ipad Mini or a small Android tablet always. They were created for mobility and they are perfect. Unfortunately you can't find a small android tablet anymore (a quality one). These days, every tablet is big/giant only to take more money from you - not so many people need them ...
before I bought my first ipad, I was contemplating on buying the air or the mini. I really wanted the mini because of its size but went with the ipad air 3 also because of its size as it would be the better choice for Procreate 😅 after a few years, I upgraded to ipad pro 11. been using it for a few years now but I still wanted a mini 😅
@@JonAdamsTech if it's a "need" then it's most likely a yes but, as of now, it's just a "want" so I'd still think about it 🤣 I'm using my ipad pro mostly for annotating/reading books on goodnotes, digital planning, drawing, watching, gaming, etc. using goodnotes and procreate on a smaller screen might be difficult but I like the mini for its portability so it's a hard decision to make since I'm not planning to keep the pro if I will buy a mini 😅
Mini 7 is out now, and sadly… still a useless 60hz! I held out for it with high hopes…. But decided on a like-New Amazon refurb 12.9” Pro for $75 more than a new Mini 7. Win!
I’d just love an iPad mini OLED. I get why they didn’t go OLED in the bigger screens, but in a mini it would work great. I just bought a Lenovo Tab 9 for $100 which works great for what I want. A15 obviously crushes it in performance, but reading books and watching Netflix is just about all I use
Ive got the ipad pro m2, and it’s great! But it just has some limitations as a laptop. Now realizing i could have gotten a macbook air + and ipad mini for the same price, i would say that is definitely the better option…
I bought my iPad mini 6 and with Cellular connectivity at launch date, and it's a great travel companion, and nowadays MS works closely with Apple, so the MS Office 365 package works seamlessly with the iPads 👍
Very good question, let's await the specs when or if it will come, nevertheless I still can manage most of my tasks on the go, however, working with details in Excel its a bit cumbersome, but pre-loaded PowerBI reports are straight on, in addition all other apps from MS are spot-on @@JonAdamsTech 👍
I already have a smartphone and don't need another tiny screen device. If you already own an android or iPhone the larger iPad at least gives you the improved functionality of a larger screen. If you cant lift a letter-sized ipad, time to hit the weights.
I love using an iPad for that, I suck with framing so it’s so helpful. I’ve used the atamos ninja v for that before but an iPad is only a few hundred dollars more and it’s so much bigger. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@JonAdamsTech Photography. Yes I love the mini. I think people fail to realize the mini is pro it’s just not hyped up to be. I would prefer more on board storage but, with the use of SSD’s storage is unlimited. Other than that it does exactly what I need it to do. The camera app from canon is great. When I’m in a session or photographing a wedding I’m wirelessly transporting images to the iPad at the same time. Instead of the pro being in a bag somewhere in the building the mini is in my pocket. When it’s time for dinner at the wedding I edit the couples samples right then and there they have 4-5 samples before their wedding is even finished. When the nights over and they look at their phones they’re always like wow thank you and with cell service you can’t beat it.
I think Mini is best for most people. For me it is the 11inch as I've gone down the small phone form factor (iPhone 13 Mini) so appreciate a slightly larger iPad for editing photos and consumption and my phone is basically a phone and camera. I hope for those that are fans of the iPad Mini - Apple doesn't do them dirty like they did with fans of the iPhone Mini as I do not think another iPhone Mini will be made again
I know man, what a freaking bummer that would be if they get rid of it! I loved the 13 mini. Do you have a computer or are you primarily an iPad user for your work?
@@JonAdamsTech Thank you. I live in both worlds (Windows and Mac) as I am not creative. So after having a bad experience with my 2017 MBP I went to iPad plus a Windows work machine (Surface Pro 9). Gets the job done. I prefer a tablet Apple device for my emails and low level photo edits plus learning.... It's a very valuable tool in (M1 iPad) just if you are a numbers geek you need that Microsoft version of desktop Excel. If I had endless money I'd probably have a macbook air, iPad and a cheap windows computer. Great channel and content!
@@JonAdamsTech I actually think they're pretty decent. I had one through my workplace (a SP6) and was so impressed that I picked up a SP9. For office work I think it's great. I have no regrets. Where it will fall short for most is that it is underpowered for anything that is not office work and even then battery won't go far beyond 6 hours and that's if you are already keeping all resource use low (low screen brightness, no videos playing in the background, not many browser tabs). I think it needs a processor on par to the Apple M series to fufill it's potential. Other than that it's a great machine and I would buy again.
Yeah im not sure if they are on ARM yet but every windows laptop on ARM has sucked so as soon as windows can figure out how to get off of x86 and really dial in their use of ARM processors they will get a lot closer to what apple has done with the M1 processor. But as usual, windows isn't concerned with optimization, they just want to brute force their way through processing with legacy code.
I’ve had a mini since the first one I loved it so much I drug my gf at the time out in the middle of the night on Black Friday to get my dad one. I can’t wait for the 7 mini is the only iPad I use I don’t like big tablets this things is basically a phone extension.
Currently using the 5th Gen Mini, and waiting for the 7th before I upgrade. Looking forward to losing the Touch ID (which I never liked), and gaining USB-C, plus whatever else Apple decides to 'give' us. It'll probably be overly expensive for its form factor but - having just upgraded to an iPhone 13 Mini - it's the size that meets my needs. Anything bigger might end up unused in a drawer. I’m An amateur landscape photographer (passion project) and accidentally bought a single device Lightroom subscription on my iPad mini 6 so that’s what I use to edit all my pics. Thing fits inside the camera bag that was included too along with a usb-c dongle, I’ve edited shots in a restaurant in Moab before. Perfect portable solution so I can leave my MBA at home.
@@JonAdamsTech I’d have to see what kind of upgrades it gets, I picked my mini up last summer so to me it’s still under a year old to me. I’d lean no if it’s just a chip upgrade, mine is handling everything I need it to right now. The mini replaced a iPad gen 6 for me, I’ll use these for a while!
The iPad mini is good because 1. It’s small 2. It’s small 3. It’s small and finally the best reason it’s good is because it’s small. PS did I mention how small it is.
@@JonAdamsTech I did have one but returned it for this issue. Hopefully they will move the screen controller back to the top rather the side on the ipad mini 7 like ipad mini 5.
I'm still on the fence. My 2019 iPad Pro 11" with a keyboard does 90% of what I need it to do, and it's just so much more portable than my Macbook m1 Pro that it's my daily device. However, its in its exit phase (due to a deteoriating battery and a slightly bent frame+screen which prevents changing the battery). I also use it sometimes for sheet music, and for that application Mini is probably too small. Then again, for the price difference of the Mini I could probably grab an older ipad just for sheet music. Btw, I edit almost all my photos on the ipad, and I think ipad mini would be totally sufficient for that as well. So should I downgrade to a Mini and a portable keyboard or buy a newer Ipad Pro?
That’s up to you, I love the mini so much but when I use it for chord charts while leading worship it’s too small, so if it were me and the main reason I used an iPad was for music I’d go with the larger screen.
If the mini gets pro, that’s the endgame for me! I need that.
I really really hope so!!

M1 MacBook Air and iPad mini 6 are still a great combo in 2024
Such a killer combo! Would you upgrade if they release a new one in June?
*I Agree and with a Price of $649 for the M1 Macbook Air it's HILARIOUS how people associate Number with better. M2 is better then M1 because its number 2 and the M3 is better then the M2 because it says 3 and not even realizing that the M1 can do A LOT in it's Base form, so It's still a GREAT Macbook Air Rose Gold M1 for $500 at Costco and THAT was a Steal. the business on ipad is in the next level. every ipad size has its own usage, currently owning a mini iphone and a largest ipad and it's so tempting to buy a "regular" size ipad just to read
I totally agree, I’m going to do a video about that exact topic as my next video. If they launch an iPad mini 7, do you think you’d get it?
I bought the 12.9 pro and invested in keyboard cases and the Apple Pencil. After I bought the mini for its mobility I found myself using the pro even less. Just sold my pro and all the cases. It was just collecting dust at this point.
Yeah I have that same issue. It’s just so much more inviting to pick up the mini!
So true. I only pick up the bigger one out of guilt because it just laying around there until it ran out of battery every time.
I agree, the mini is THE pad for me. When the new iPad mini comes out I will be getting it.
Same, I can’t wait for them to kick out a new one!
I want one to display my smart home dashboard by my bed
Yeah i've seen a lot of people use it for smart home use
I don't think the 7th gen will be that much better. I've done the homework and it will have the same display, the processor will be an improvement but not that big of one. The camera will be improved but who really uses an iPad mini for a camera? Keep your 6 and save some bread.
@@brucechandler9484 Yeah i literally never use the camera on an ipad
I had the Ipad pro, with the pencil and keyboard. Then I bought the ipad mini and preferred it so much over the heavier ipad pro that I gave the ipad pro to my dad lol. Its so light that I can bring it with me anywhere, work, travel, bed, the kitchen. Its excellent for media consumption, reading through my emails and doing quick replies. I bought a leather notebook cover for it so its like a small diary or notebook :)
Yep, it’s amazing!! I love the idea of getting a leather case to make it a journal feel. Thanks for checking out the video!
But the combo of both would be great
Yeah that’s a great combo! How did you like the iPad Air? Thats the one iPad I haven’t really paid much attention to
I have an iPad Mini 6 and a 4 model before that. The 6 is my constant companion whenever I travel, for business and leisure. I can do everything with it - email, video conferences, travel arrangements and before long flights I download several movies. I just came back from an 11 day business trip to Asia. I took my laptop, but didn’t open it once.
Yeah it's so awesome isnt it?!
Haha well glad it was helpful! Do you already have the mini and the Air or is that something you're shooting for?
You may have answered this before, but what type of work do you do? and yes that sounds like the perfect setup having the mini and the MBA
@@JonAdamsTech at the moment I’m mostly doing graphic design and photo editing, as well as some 4k 24 video editing
I have both (11 inch Pro) and find that I use the Mini6 more often. Generally speaking, if I need to type or watch video I use the Pro. If not I usually reach for the Mini. Perfect size for reading, quick notes and apps that don’t require real estate. Overall happy that I have both.
Totally agree!
Do you use the iPad mini for work? I totally agree that mini is the best form factor!
I use the same combo: iPhone 13 Mini and iPad Mini 6.
Bought the iPad Mini a couple of years ago, and had no need for the Pro. Actually could afford the Mini unlike the Pro. Read books, watch shows, use it to track my life total for MTG, and so many more things.
Nice! Do you think you’ll upgrade to the 7 when it comes out?
Did you ?
I have the iPad mini 6 and use it daily. I love it. The only downsides I see are the lack of ProMotion (I'm used to it on my iPhone 15 Pro) and sometimes I find the screen a little bit small for drawing or making mind maps.
For sure, I really hope that they update it in this rumored update at the end of the month!
That’s awesome! Do you use a mouse with it or just stick with touch screen?

I just use my phone as a wifi hotspot for when I need data to upload flight plans.

Do you think you’ll upgrade to the 7 when it comes out?
I had iPad mini 5 a few years ago, then tried the second hand iPad pro 12.9 2017 for 1-2 years, and now trying the 10.5 iPad Pro for several months, me personally like the size of 11 inch as a balance of weight and screen size, I do mind map, and like to read large page, so I prefer the 11 inch size a bit more, but the mini is really a good weight, and really handhold-able.
I might be a bit strange, I want the next iPad to have a delicate 3.5mm headphone jack for my Sennheiser HD25 headphone.
Makes sense, mind mapping takes up a ton of room and those headphones sound amazing. Thanks for checking out the video!
I love them both, so I have them both! I traded in my 11” for a gift card. 3 iPads was too many, but I used the Mini and the 13” Pro the most. The 11” Pro only got used if it happened to be closest to me. Giving up the 13” or the Mini is just unthinkable now!
Yeah that’s a solid setup.

Again, thanks for your video on the Mini, it really sold me on it 🙏😁
You are probably correct, only thing I advise is 64GB is too small mine ran out of space 3 years ago and I only use it now to browse
Good call!
@@JBass33 Do it! They will hopefully put that in the next launch

Yeah man there is so much software that could be improved on the iPad. I feel you.
I love my mini as a tablet and my Air with the Magic Keyboard as my “MacBook “
Nice! Do you find iPadOS to be clunky at all?
@@JonAdamsTech Not at all, runs smoothly on both devices.
the decision fatigue is real.
Wait you have all those devices or you’re just saying that’s what they would be ideal for? And yeah I hate decision fatigue, I absolutely hate it
@@JonAdamsTech have all.. i get all my ipads second hand so its much cheaper. hard to comment without using. i used to think 11 inch is not necessary until i got a good deal and realize i really love it.
I currently have the iPad Mini 6 (5G) and I love it, but sometimes I do wish I had the bigger iPad when I am watching Netflix or Amazon 😆
I just end up watching those things on my tv. Do you think you'll upgrade to the ipad mini 7 if it gets announced next month?
@@JonAdamsTech Nah. Happy with current one.
Nice!
Yeah 350 is a real solid price, would you upgrade if they come out with a mini 7?
For games and reading books the mini is better. But for watching videos and general day to day stuff the extra screen helps!
Totally!
Honestly, being one of the many who were waiting and thinking Apple would put a version of macOS onto the iPad pro M1 +, I’m considering switching to an iPad mini; easier to carry around at work & do part-time courses & gaming
Yeah I wish they would but I don’t think they’ll ever get around to putting macOS on there just to keep their profit up.
Still waiting for iPad mini with 1TB or 2TB. Hopefully they’ll make iPad Pro mini too in the future.
Man I really wish but I wonder after todays announcement if they’ll just kill off the mini line, which is a total bummer
Ipad Mini or a small Android tablet always. They were created for mobility and they are perfect. Unfortunately you can't find a small android tablet anymore (a quality one).
These days, every tablet is big/giant only to take more money from you - not so many people need them ...
True!! Which tablet do you have?
before I bought my first ipad, I was contemplating on buying the air or the mini. I really wanted the mini because of its size but went with the ipad air 3 also because of its size as it would be the better choice for Procreate 😅 after a few years, I upgraded to ipad pro 11. been using it for a few years now but I still wanted a mini 😅
It’s so worth it! Would you get the mini 7 if they released it in sept?
Win!
Yeah that’s a solid idea, super bummed on the new iPad
I’d just love an iPad mini OLED. I get why they didn’t go OLED in the bigger screens, but in a mini it would work great. I just bought a Lenovo Tab 9 for $100 which works great for what I want. A15 obviously crushes it in performance, but reading books and watching Netflix is just about all I use
Is that Lenovo Tab 9 oled? A while back I had a thinkpad and loved that thing
@@JonAdamsTech no ips, and pretty low res 1300x800 or something like that. But perfectly acceptable for 100 imo
Nice!
Ive got the ipad pro m2, and it’s great! But it just has some limitations as a laptop. Now realizing i could have gotten a macbook air + and ipad mini for the same price, i would say that is definitely the better option…
Yeah I agree. Don’t be too disappointed in your purchase though, the m2 iPad pro will last a really long time and is a great device!
I was trying to do the same thing! I ended up selling my iPad pro with Magic Keyboard and getting this exact set up. Love it so much, no regrets 😊
I bought my iPad mini 6 and with Cellular connectivity at launch date, and it's a great travel companion, and nowadays MS works closely with Apple, so the MS Office 365 package works seamlessly with the iPads 👍
That’s awesome! Is it good enough for your workflow of do you think you’ll upgrade to the 7 when it’s announced?
Very good question, let's await the specs when or if it will come, nevertheless I still can manage most of my tasks on the go, however, working with details in Excel its a bit cumbersome, but pre-loaded PowerBI reports are straight on, in addition all other apps from MS are spot-on @@JonAdamsTech 👍
If you had to choose one and could get them both at the same exact price, what would you choose?
iPad mini!
What about when it’s not cheaper. Like right now they’re both about 350 to 375
Depends on what size you want? For me I like smaller
@ thanks for responding g. I like small too I agree. I just don’t know if I’m leaving value from the pro on the table
I already have a smartphone and don't need another tiny screen device. If you already own an android or iPhone the larger iPad at least gives you the improved functionality of a larger screen. If you cant lift a letter-sized ipad, time to hit the weights.
lol I’ve done powerlifting for years and it’s still too heavy for me!
I’m leaning that way, as well. I have a Plus size iPhone, so not gaining much screen space with an iPad mini. So I’m torn about buying my first iPad.
just pick up the mini a few days ago
Nice! what do you think of it so far?
@@JonAdamsTech it’s pretty handy really compact. Use it to control my Sony Zv E10 as a external monitor.
I love using an iPad for that, I suck with framing so it’s so helpful. I’ve used the atamos ninja v for that before but an iPad is only a few hundred dollars more and it’s so much bigger. Thanks for checking out the video!
You're a great youtuber sir, I really appreciate the effort you put into this 👏🏽💯
Dang I really appreciate it! Thanks for checking out the video!
I really wish they’d make a pro version of the mini. I’m a small guy so the mini can fit in one hand better.
And I wouldn’t even mind if it was expensive! It would be perfect!
I love the mini just wish it had a 1tb option. I’m going iPad only so I’m using the same setup iPad Pro iPad mini on the go
Nice! What do you do for work? Does that all iPad mini workflow work for you with your occupation?
That’s dope! I do wedding videography on the side but I’m horrible and take forever to get the client their video haha
@@JonAdamsTech That’s what’s up! Take your time bruh it shows the client you aren’t doing some halfway rush job
@@fashopimpin haha for sure
@@RemofRenaissance For sure, what do you think of the Surface Pro line? I've really been wanting to check those out, they look sick!
Yeah man I really really hope they keep the line going!
totally, I got the iPad Pro for work and there was so much friction with real-world work that I decided to just stick to a laptop
Yep! That OS is holding the iPad back sooooo much!
Once they get m2 on iPad mini and oled ill definitely change my iPad Pro
Heeeeeck ya, not sure they’ll do that but I’d be totally down for it
Currently using the 5th Gen Mini, and waiting for the 7th before I upgrade.
Thanks for the content.
Yeah I really hope they give it some good upgrades because it’s such a solid device! Also glad you’re digging the mini phone, but man I wish they kept it around
@@JonAdamsTech Obviouslg not available new in the real or virtual Apple Store, but it’s still available via the Amazon one - as long as you like pink.
Bring back the Mini!
Bring back the mini!
For iPad Mini it’s gonna act as my media tool and car system
That’s a great use!
Please don’t roast me chat. I’m
An amateur landscape photographer (passion project) and accidentally bought a single device Lightroom subscription on my iPad mini 6 so that’s what I use to edit all my pics. Thing fits inside the camera bag that was included too along with a usb-c dongle, I’ve edited shots in a restaurant in Moab before. Perfect portable solution so I can leave my MBA at home.
You shall not be roasted here! I love it, glad you found a good use for the iPad mini, do you think you’ll upgrade to the 7 when it comes out?
@@JonAdamsTech I’d have to see what kind of upgrades it gets, I picked my mini up last summer so to me it’s still under a year old to me. I’d lean no if it’s just a chip upgrade, mine is handling everything I need it to right now. The mini replaced a iPad gen 6 for me, I’ll use these for a while!
@@jamesl9272 Yeah if it's not a significant jump with all the other upgrades I'll be disapointed for sure
IPAD MINI OLED IS WHAT WE WANT TIM 😉
Haha yep he completely failed us yesterday
Once emulation really gets going on iOS, iPad mini is going to be a gaming GOD
Dude that’s gonna be so sick. I can’t wait to play all the games I grew up on
The iPad mini is good because 1. It’s small 2. It’s small 3. It’s small and finally the best reason it’s good is because it’s small. PS did I mention how small it is.
But did you know it’s small?
If jelly scroll wasn't so noticeable in portrait orientation I would love this device.
Do you have one? I don’t notice it at all but that could just be me.
@@JonAdamsTech I did have one but returned it for this issue. Hopefully they will move the screen controller back to the top rather the side on the ipad mini 7 like ipad mini 5.

👀 I spy the New City Catechism and Logos Apps! Let’s go! 🔥
Yeaaaaaahhhhhh dude! I love them! I’m a pastor at a church in Orlando so I use them a lot for personal growth and helping our church grow spiritually
MINI 6 all the way!
Heck ya!!!
would you recommend it if I get the apple pencil and magic keyboard or the portfolio keyboard?
I love using the iPad mini with the Apple Pencil but you need to go pro to get that keyboard.
@@JonAdamsTech ok thank you so much!!
Imagine the mini with a 9 inch display and reduced bezels. That's realistically the biggest it could get while still being mini
That would be dope! What I really want though is that display to be upgraded
@@JonAdamsTech Me too. It's crying out for an upgrade
But when it comes to using procreate and wanting a large canvas size, the iPad Pro takes the cake.
That’s definitely true. Procreate rules
I need the real estate for procreate (and the apple pencil) or watching films in the best resolution
That makes sense. Do you use the pro?
iPad Pro is overkill, iPad Mini is a REALIST
It’s the best!
