- CHECK OUT THIS 1996 AM GENERAL HUMMER ON CARS & BIDS!
crsnbds.com/am-general-hummer
There's nothing else quite like the Hummer, as it's MASSIVE, it's exceptionally capable off-road, and it touts some cool features like a central tire inflation system. This wagon model is equipped with the desirable 6.5-liter turbodiesel V8 that boasts a lot more torque than the other two engines offered in 1996, and it features numerous modifications intended to improve the look and add practicality - including LED headlights, a roof rack, and an inclinometer on the dashboard. Plus, this Hummer is offered with a clean, accident-free Carfax report, showing ownership mostly in warm-weather Arizona and California since new, for added buyer confidence.

Zack - you crush these spots! 👍👍
You know it!
More Zack.
More Josh
“Fords’ Horse Lizard” this guy is good lmao
I died hahahaha
Ford's
I bought an H1 when in my late 20’s; it was a life goal and when I had the opportunity I jumped on it. I beat the hell out of it and loved every minute of ownership, except for when someone threw a brick threw the windshield. It was indestructible outside of its heating system which I killed when I swamped it up to the windows. Every time I see an H1 I smile, but now my smile is for the memories.
People can be so horrible damaging another person's property. Once had a 40oz of beer thrown through my back glass.
Zack's reviews are the best!
I love this guy. He has his own vibe and yet I'm also reminded of early Doug with the Vantage (and coincidentally, his own H1).
My favorite Zack's video
He really went for it!
I'm probably the only one in the comment section who doesn't know who this guy but who is this guy? Anyway, he's great. More of this guy.
Comparing the length and width of the Hummer to a BMW M2 and Bronco put it into perspective 🤯 Modern cars are getting way too big.
Pretty much!
“You can transfer a whole lot of freedom”🤣
What an awesome review, for some reason this format really showcases Zach’s talents. Good stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Test drove the wagon version ~2000, it was fun! Seriously considered buying one back then, but they were a greater expense than I could justify at the time.
They are certainly a guilty pleasure.
What a great video Zack TY for a well done job 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome review and video. I'd love to see Zack in more videos, I love his personality!
First Zack review that I felt connected to it. He is getting it.
‘Attach stuck H2’s here….’ Fantastic.
my favorite quote from zack is at 18:34
Thanks for the video, Zack.
I love what AM General did with the H1, keeping the same basic vehicle as the military and adding a little bit of comfort items.
I'm in a Hummer H1/Humvee hype lately and this video is a great addition to my humble playlist. 🍷🗿👍🏻
I did hear that Oshkosh makes a civilian version of the L-ATV, but I don't know. If so, it would be nice to find one to review. Sadly, I think it's easier to go for one through surplus auctions when they start appearing more proeminently.
Anyway, sorry for the long comment.
Thanks once again. 😅👍🏻
Lots of love from our side for the H1 as well. They are toooo cooolll
Great review Zack - really informative and fun!
Glad you enjoyed it!
His reviews are awesome
This guy is if JonTron reviewed cars. I like him.
Eyyyyy Zack niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
Maybe it's my European-ness but I love these. You cannot not love these (lol)
I don't want a Unimog but I'd love to experience an H1 in all its glory. But 🤌, staggered whenever I see a military one on the road. They take up two lanes!
Think also why when I see one it makes me look at it in awe is the fact it's genuine asf, it's not playing dress-up like Jeeps are. It just is. And you like it or not but man these are awesome
Worked in limestone maine at a place that refurbished these for the military. They are just plain cool machines, so much fun
Agreed! Go over anything and anywhere in the world.
Some day, I will own an H1 or a Humvee. I know they're terrible to drive but they have such presence and capability. The wagon has always been my favorite bodystyle.
They are terrible, but so much fun. Then you go offroad and go over basically anything.
Love Zack’s reviews! Perfect replacement for Alanis/Kennan 🤞
Is that ChrisFix’s Hummer? Seem very familiar to me…
This is in California.
Chris's has different lighting and I don't think his has the massive spare tire.
Zack Klapman is an incredible addition to this channel! More additions, less rich Doug! (facetious and jealous me 🙋🏼♂️)
Get rid of the dual oil filter immediately. It's been proven to restrict oil flow and starve the engine. They were only implemented for the HMMWV's in areas like the sandbox.
Good to know!
Zack rocks!
He's great
Zack is amazing 👏
Omar, you are amazing.
"let people have the fun they want to have" 👍
that shop doe
This. This is the guy I’ll watch other than Doug. More of him.
Thanks!
Funny while you were filming a new version of a Hummer drive by
Zack, I believe the G-wagon 6x6 had a central tire inflation system. But those are pretty rare!
Correct
forgot to mention that the hummer is one of the main 'causes' of the Jeep Wrangler, since the military wasnt buying the Jeep M38, they had to start sharing parts with other AMC vehicles, where the wrangler came from
Chris Fix has entered the chat
I like this guy.
Hell yeah!!
When did GM start making the civilian version?
More Zach!
More Austin!
Isn't the hummer H1 you're reviewing is for Chris Fix?
Nope. Different coast.
Wait ChrisFix is selling his Hummer? 😅😅
Recommend putting zack in the thumbnail so I know to watch this one.
2:32 LMAO this is a testament to Americans’ state of mind. We like excess.
But, it isn't that excessive of a vehicle in 2024.
Is this chrisfix's truck ????
20:45 Whistlindiesel enters the chat….
I am clearly old. My tire inflation system is pedal operated.
Zack reviews are much better than the ones of the screaming lady
Tactical hamburger
Mercedes 8x8 has the auto tire inflation also
Correct!
Looks just like the one ChrisFix owns.
It is not, this is in California.
@@carsandbids But I know that..."HEY GUYS, CHRIS FIX HERE!"
Not gonna lie, when you said "You can't talk about the Hummer H1 without someone bring up..." my brain expected you to say "your sister." LOL
So the 2 door truck H1 from Gone in 60 Seconds was a military version 🤔
There were a very small number of 2-door H1s sold. It's one of the rarest body styles and were discontinued after a few years. I believe only the slantback is rarer.
Slantback looks the best, but super rare.
He said "quirks and features" 😮 Hopefully he doesn't get in trouble 😂
He was taken to the office for a warning.
👍 Great stuff !. Please keep this guy as a regular presenter, and get rid of that awful woman........
What awful woman?
@@bwofficial1776 🤫 Alanis King - The voice that could sink a ship !!..
3:00 - No, you can't buy a civilian fighter jet…
...any more.
Once upon a time you could. When the F-5 first came out, you could buy a civilian version of it without radar or the ability to mount weapons. There were even plans for the F-16 to be available similarly. The fall of the Shah of Iran, and the falling of the F-14 into "enemy hands" put the kibosh on that. Now, fighter aircraft (and bombers) can only be purchased by governments. At least in the USA. In Russia, it seems to be possible to buy them.
The L39 Albatross is really cool and isn't thaaatttttt expensive.
That's not Doug!
It is not!
Change the video quality to 240p and put your phone on the opposite end of the room. He can almost be Doug then.
Longest ad ever
I rather drive this Hummer than a ev Hummer
Hire a well polished actor/comedian and watch the cars and bids views light up… did I say I’m a fledgling extra on season 4 of outer banks? It’s all I have left Doug.
12:10
Best host on this channel, hands-down. The girl is annoying and the other guy is nothing more than a Doug clone.
....Canyonero 🤣😂
I'm all in on EVs now, but I will always hold respect for the original AM General Hummer. The H2 can go die in a fire, and the H3 isn't even the punchline of a joke. But the OG? Suburban mall-crawlers didn't buy _those_ to look impressive. Anyone that owns one privately is either filthy rich and bought it as an occasional use show off vehicle; or people who want a truly good off-roader.
Problem is a lot of states are only issuing a tag for off-road only. So that means you got a trailer it to wherever you're going to go off road ing
First
🤔 First Wow !. 👦 How exciting for you, your mom must be so proud of you ?..
Willys is pronounced Willis, not willys. Do your research.
Don't ever sing that song again.
Zack loves karaoke, we can't promise that.
Oh boy. Starting this video watch now to get an idea of how much you get completely wrong.
Starting off right off the bat. THe civilian market got several 2-door versions of the H1 including the VLC2 and the XLC2. They weren't strictly military. AM General also made only 40 civilian H1 slantback trucks in the 2000 model year only. If you buy a slantback H1 and its not a 2000, then its an aftermarket top or likely some hackjob.
That wagon top is rusted away on the inside. They painted over it on the outside but if you pull the carpet back from the wheel well on the inside, you'll probably see a bunch of eaten away metal. The top needs to be removed and fixed if possible or replaced. $30k last time I checked for a new sheet metal roof from AVA. Aftermarket is cheaper.
A "limited slip differential" in the back isn't an upgrade... and I don't even know if that exists. From the FACTORY all H1's came with Torsen differentials which locked up 100% when brake-throttle-modulating. Later model years (like mine) had an e-locker option for the rear differential.
Thank you for mentioning the width comparison to modern vehicles. It's acutally shorter overall than a Toyota Camry.
The CTIS system is not complicated. As long as the seals are good inside the spindle they are very reliable. People think it leaks when they compare hot tire pressure to cold tire pressure when they crank it up in the morning.
