    Alex, this is everything any golfer needs. Understanding I must flow to the target while keeping the lead side and chest down and finishing with straight arms a few feet in front of the ball was like magic for me! I was mashing my irons, taking nice straight shallow divots just beyond the ball and consistently striking irons not just purely but almost perfectly. I heard a click and felt nothing, it was amazing. I looked up and the ball was already 50 yards away before I located it. If I may, I would add that you must commit totally to doing this. Don't hesitate or hold back, "trust". Let the energy flow through the ball to the target and stay down through the ball to a straight arm finish and the ball explodes off the club, absolutely astounding! Thank you my friend.

    Alex the elevation of the arms in the backswing is difficult to be simply convinced about. But when I realized that by following my shoulder turn with my hands I’m making it impossible to be focused upon my left side rotating up and around in the follow through. My arms have to elevate in order to be capable of completing my follow through.

    If you are hitting down, you can’t focus upon hitting past the ball. Sometimes with my 8,9, & pitching wedge I’m very concerned with hitting down at the ball. Which raises the possibility of a fat shot.

  • @joebacarella2829

    You explained my iron shots exactly, I hit down without much follow through, my irons are low, without half the distance of the other guys, I am a 12 handicap, and I also chunk my chip shots, because I am not going through the ball, I always think it will go too far if I swing through, so my brain says to stop the follow through on chips, and I always chunk them, I will be focusing on swinging through every shot for now on. I don`t have a lot of hip rotation, I get too armsy, and my cousin is constantly yelling at me for stopping my follow through, he is a 3 handicap, his 5 iron goes 210, mine goes about 160 yrds, thanks for the tips. I`m swinging through, and turning towards the target for now on.

    Another good video.
    I have never been a consistent iron striker. And I'm a senior golfer btw. So I have moved to hybrids in 4,5 and 6. I hit them well and really don't even have to think about it. I have recently purchased Cobra T-Rails in 7,8 and 9 hoping I would have the same success as hybrids but haven't. I think I may be trying to hit down at those as opposed to a more sweeping motion as I use with the hybrids. This video does help in giving me another way to approach those shots but basically do you think I should use the same swing as my hybrids? I know it's hard to say w/o looking at me. The T-rails look a little like a hybrid but not quite the same as one. I still have traditional irons in my wedges.

    Great videos. Thanks. Do you have one that focuses entirely on release or rotation of the two hands through impact? It starts with left on top but ends with right on top (RH golfer). Where? It appears to be past impact but I'd like to see slow motion or multiple frames with the focus on this change. I still have a tendency to flip, not rotate and it is a hard habit to break..

  • @AllTradesGeorge
    @AllTradesGeorge 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I wish I'd found these videos about four years ago. I was getting close to a 15 handicap...my swing had flaws, but I at least had consistent swing thoughts. I found some golf coaching vids on here that improved my driver swing massively (added close to 30 yards right away), so I started watching more...a LOT more. Fell down the rabbit hole. Got so much information that I started second-guessing EVERYTHING about all of my swings. Dropped to worse than a thirty handicap and I've been struggling to get back to where I was ever since.
    Simplicity is something I really need. So much of what I've seen in the couple of your videos I've seen is saying the same things, in terms of swing thoughts (like "Release at your target") that I was using before I binged all those other videos. Looking forward to getting some simple instructions that will cut down on my second-guessing.

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well that sucks. Unfortunately it happens to many many golfers. Maybe that helps console you ;) the thing is, you have seen the light as it were. That you know your swing and style.. it’s just keeping it natural and simple with guardrails and principles. Ones that you can remember and apply easily.

    The best tip I ever had on swinging through, or perhaps just the overall best golf tip was from my brother, who hadn't been playing long. He said "I get it, you have to feel the weight at the bottom of your swing, you have to have relaxed wrists and feel the force of the club pulling on your hands like in a practice swing". That was an AHA moment for me and I make sure I feel that, even in pitches etc. You have lag, and you're not steering or buckling your arms....you can't or you don't feel the weight with relaxed hands/wrists.

    Yes it resonates! When I’m playing bad my swing is more of a V shape than an arc. Problem is being able to fix it when I’m playing and reset.

    I now understand the ball IS NOT though focus or the “enemy” to be hammered….It seems to be more about the swing itself 😮

      Even if I tee the ball up super high my club still goes down in the ground. I think it’s my mind making me hit the ground. If I don’t hit the ground and I just graze then it’s always better results.

    Alex. Just come across this video and completely agree with you. I was instructed some time ago to look two to three inches in front of the ball and my golf shots began to improve immensely. I actual use the Jim Venetos method of swing and it works just the same for me.I am sure this video will greatly assist those golfers who have problems making good contact with the ball. This method ensures ball then turf and results in good contact at all times. Great instruction thank you.

    Hi Alex, a very good instructional video, and resonates exactly with my main faults. I hit a good drive, and then either fat or thin the ball when hitting my irons.
    I’ll definitely follow your 3 steps, when next at the range.
    Very simple guides to follow, as the site name implies.

      @@TheArtofSimpleGolf Hi Alex, just to update you, I played a new course today, but haven’t had the opportunity to practice the instructional tips in your video. However, I decided to incorporate the instruction during my round, and shot 5 under par which for me was unheard of on a course I’ve never played before. I struck most of my iron shots cleanly compressing the ball like never before.
      Hopefully this is the start of some better golf scores in future.
      Thanks John

    Unless you’ve seen a lot of circus acts, you need to believe that you can do only one thing right at a time. Golf instructions are about swinging the golf club. The striking of the ball needs to be a consequence of swinging the club properly. When a golfer tries to hit the ball ,proper form of the golf swing can’t be most present on the golfers mind. It has to be those difficult lies that press a golfer to be more concerned with hitting the ball. Difficult lies I have avoided while learning to swing the club properly.

  • @xpress7578

    Lag is the killer of the weekend golfers. Frozen wrists. Let the club and arms release from the top as per Jack Nicklaus. It’s not a sweep shot but it gives a longer low point of the swing for more consistency.

    This is a great video. Especially in combination with your “Simple Drills for an Effortless Swing”.
    I’m a decent player (3-5 hcp). Strike the ball pretty well. But I’ve been fighting a bit of a sway through my downswing. Which I think is costing me some distance.
    The chest move in this video really “clicked” for me. Really eager to put in some more work with these drills. But initial comparison on camera after a short while has me really happy.
