Replace CLA250 / CLA45 AMG grille and hood emblem

- This is a quick video showing how to replace the Mercedes-Benz emblem on both the grille and hood of the CLA250 and CLA45 AMG.
Specific car shown in this video is a 2014 CLA250 w/ Sport Package, but this should be the case for 2014-2016 vehicles. I can only vouch for the part numbers linked here for the specific model years in their listings.

Thank you! I hadn't found anything on how to remove the emblem from my CLS!
For me it was not possible to take off the distronic easily. My Mercedes partner gave me the very handy tip to use a bit floss. And then to lever the emblem more and more. After the gap is wide enough one can take the emblem easily out by using a plastic pry tool. You also can use the floss only if you take your time. The emblem will get no damage and can be reused. 🎉

The problem is I want the affalterback red and black one. I found the correct size 57mm but my model is x156 and it says it fits w codes. To make matters worse the pictures don't show the back so I don't know if it has the 2 prongs or just an adhesive sticker back. Any ideas?

Im looking to do similar emblem change with my 2019 A250 (w177) but cant seem to find out if mine has same setup as the one in video?? Do you know if its a similar double prong holding the badge in place?

Hi Andrew...just watched the video and would like to know if I can replace the Star emblem with the traditional Benz Logo emblem. I did notice the base width is larger at 5.5 cm where as the old one is only 4.5 cm?

Thank you for the clear n great video. However mine comes with the flat glass like star emblem for the big one. Tried twisting it but seems difficult to grip. Please advise. Thkq
I cannot say for certain that this method works for the upgraded flat star emblem that includes the forward collision/adaptive cruise sensors. I'm going to assume there is a different way to do those.

Instead of putting key on both sides. Place it in the middle and push up and it will pop off with no problem.
looking for a black rear & front star emblem for a 2022 anyone have a link? Is it the same size as a 2019?

Words of caution. My emblem was glued on and I pulled some car paint along with the absolutely destroyed emblem. What a disaster
May I know what's the difference between the 250 & the 45 emblems? Both emblems look the same to me.
The CLA45 AMG hood emblem should be the same as the CLA250 one. The pins on the back, at the very least, are the same (making them interchangeable). Far as I know the CLA45 AMG OEM hood emblem is the same as the CLA250, but many people replace them for more ornamental "AMG" ones, so that's what you'll see often when searching for them.
That’s what I thought. I was just a little curious to why you were changing the emblem. They look the same to me or atleast on video. I’ve just had my emblem replaced to the black 2018 emblem last Friday. The prongs unlike on the CLA are vertical on my SL. Had to do a little digging to find the exact part that fits. In case you’re interested the part number for the black emblem on a CLA is A0008171801 as oppose to A0008171601 on the SL. That said, my sister still thinks that the blue emblem looks better. Great video btw.
Good question, something I didn't address in the video. I bought the car used and the emblem had been pretty severely worn. The blue/purple paint was almost completely gone (I agree I like that color) and the chrome was starting to fade. So I found a new one to have a fresh start :)
If I remove the bumper emblem, does it break? Can you reuse it again?
It doesn't break. You can use it again.
Is this emblem the same as on a cla 180 amg 2017?
mclife1 sorry I don't know for sure. You can always check the part number before ordering a replacement. My guess is that all CLA models in the past few years have the same emblem removal process.

Would it be possible to pry the hood badge out w/ a trim tool and not have to remove the grille star? Great video btw!
I suppose it's possible, but considering how much force was required to push it up even from behind, I'd be worried about damaging the hood paint by prying on it.

The badge isn't on the bonnet!!
The badge is on the front bumper cover, not the hood, and with the hood open you have no access to the underside of the bumper cover - the radiator and fans are in the way.
