An excellent variety of motive power, and so well filmed, in particular the moody shot of the departure of 45212. Thanks, as always, for making the time to share this with us all.
Nice video, Less. I guess these WCR 33s and maroon coaches will have to take the place of the Royal mail as one of my favorites you film. Great collection and definitely some nice steam happening!
One of the many, many advantages of watching your videos is the close-ups that can be obtained of loco buffer beams (eg, the 33s), which are great for modellers
Good point! I;d often thought I offer quite a lot of ideas for the modeller (eg it is good to run a convoy of locos with just one wagon et and how to put weeds on your layout)
That oil train runs about once a month from the Grain Oil terminal in Kent and overnights at Doncaster before heading to Carlisle Yard to be split for two runs to Prestwick. There's also a path over the S&C should it be needed. I must have recorded it 3 or 4 times in various places.
If only the line ( boder counties railway) from Hexham to Riccarton Jct,and the Waverley Line were still there. The Azumas in theory could use that route? Love these videos
Thanks! Thats true but nobody used the Border Counties before it was closed pre Beeching. I can see a use for the Waverley but would it prove quicker than via Carstairs?
This nice video gives food for a thought I´ve had for a while: Is it so, that refurbished steam locos are often fitted with some kind of extra pipes in the front, to give them a more "dramatic" impression when start running? Or did locos in old days - in regular service - also have these pipes?
Looks like a West Coast company day out, Carlisle. Did not expect to see the Fort William Alumina train. Now that is the long way round for such a long train. First freight train, aviation fuel, and those are bigger tank wagons then the Swiss/ Germans use.
You are right. The 800s raise or lower their pantographs in the station. There are balises in case they forget to drop them heading East/South. Any 5 car 801s have to be towed by an 800.
That is what i call excessive steam ! It is like a scene from "The Railway Children" that left their father the only person on the platform. Plenty of other action, Carlisle is still a great place for enthusiats.
A freind who'd been standing on P4 said they didnt see the loco until it was going round the curve towards Currock. Carlisle was pleasantly busy for a change

That would be cool! Its not often we see their 33s so twice in as many weeks is great. Very atmospheric

A fabulous variety on Saturday it looked exceedingly busy.
It was! Really like old times
I presume that Doncaster - Prestwick tanks freight was a diversion off ECML. I don't recall you capturing it (for posterity) before. 😀

All the pipes are similar to those they carried before 1968
@@LeslieGilpinRailways right, thanks Leslie, then I don´t have to worry 😏

The Alcan was diverted like the LNER trains - engineering work north of Newcastle. I think those tanks are bigger than the american equivalents too
Excellent and interesting video.
Many thanks!
The black five sounded in good order, no rattling and clanging of the running gear, a nice tight engine, a credit to KWVR.
And thats after the summer up on the Jacobite!
5 maroon locos make a nice change from the weird Avanti livery.
That maroon is a devil to photograph but I prefewrred the Avanti stock in delivery white.
I presume the LNER Eidburgh trains switched back to electric power at Carlisle after coming off the Newcastle-Carlisle diversion?

@@LeslieGilpinRailways It would certainly make for a great halloween video.Carlisle has done well this year for rare sightings.
I wish west coast would get rid of that ghastly livery
Some love it some hate it. At least its uniform but a devil to photograph.
