in 5 years or less we are getting a sub 1000$ sim that has every feature the big dogs have, plus more... just think of how amazing A.I. coaching are going to be!
Great video. I researched for a year before moving forward with a golf simulator for my RV garage. 10W × 8 H × 5' Carls place enclosure, Mevo +, Optimus GT 1090HDR projector, a combination of Pro turf (10x6) from Net Return and amazon, Interlocking gym mat for under the turf, GS Pro and already had a good gaming PC. Overall cost without gaming PC, was approximately $8-9k. Having a golf simulator has helped my game tremendously. My only regret is having a ground mount for the projector w 15 ft high ceilings.
Really getting me cranked up about getting one. My father died lately and i will be getting an inheritance witch could go to getting à simulator. I introduced my daughter to golf this summer and want to give her the oppertunity to practice all winter. Even thinking of selling my baby (1986 mazda rx7) i have been restoring in the garage to make room for it. I live in Quebec city Canada and summer here is short.
In kind regards, your father has parlé’d with me… he says” Proud of you son, don’t hesitate to sell your rx7 to your new apprentice golf building simulator” I had to translate but he’s certain
I don't mind the upfront cost but this nonsense subscription based crap is disgusting. There's no excuse to have to pay $400-500 annually for a program
Exactly my same thoughts. An all ready overpriced piece of equipment that takes a dedicated room that is climate controlled that I own and they want $500 a month on top of that! If they were actually serious about selling them, they would do a combination of lease the equipment with a monthly fee that you can put on vacation mode four or five times a year. I can get a membership at a local golf course that allows me to play a dozen our courses for half the price, and I am outside getting exercise. If you don’t have a high ceiling garage this simply won’t fit in most people house, forget about a basement. I don’t know anyone with 10 foot basement ceilings. So if I built a dedicated shed if some kind the price goes up to $20,000 plus a subscription. I will stick to the real thing.
Great video that covers all the basics for folks looking to get started. But just wanted to flag something - I’m running GS Pro on an AMD Radeon RX 6600M (2k, ultra settings) with no problems, so doesn’t need to be Nvidia.
Hi Gabe. I'm designing a higher end simulator for a dedicated room, 23.5' deep, 14.5' wide, 10' high. I'm curious what you think about installing pads and carpet on the walls and ceiling in the at-risk areas in a dedicated setup. It seems to me that this would be cost effective and highly functional for protecting the walls and ceiling from dings, absorbing ball energy, and sound absorption/echoes. What do you think?
I have seen some simulators like it. As long as the padding is nice and thick enough to stop the ball from bouncing, that’s the key, it would probably be worth testing out a small strip on a piece of plywood or something before installing the whole project, but it could work well.
Thanks for this video. I have a local deal pending for an 8x8 carls place enclosure, should i stay away from that size? I tend to see a lot of 10x8 or 12x10. Will 8x8 be hard to project to?
Gabe, your videos are so well made and you really know how to explain what you are showing. That being said and off topic for this video, have you or are you ever going to do a video to test and compare Dewiz and Hackmotion? I would trust your testing and review over anyone.

Great breakdown of what’s needed (I do so want one). 2 questions: Do those mats accept standard tees (it didn’t look like deep enough ‘grass’) And, gaming computer? Wouldn’t a decent MacBook Pro work just as well? I mean, it’s not like we’re talking about intense graphics needs or frame rates like many games have today. Oh, one more thing…a good TV/Monitor for viewing your stats is needed.
