Very well done and explained, my friend! This played a huge part in my own setup upgrade, which is in progress now...without breaking the bank. Question: Would you be able to share a photo of how you stitched the mesh tarp corners together at the sides and top? Note: I did watch your FAQs video (again, so well done)... Thanks very much!
@@mattjaworski-cwcscleagueco395 Much appreciated and good luck with your build! I've got another video on the channel about F.A.Q.s from this that might help you out, but I used a back stich on the edges of all the tarps.
@@muskratlinksgolf Thanks - and yes, I saw both videos and took some notes - was just hoping to see the stitching to learn how far apart (loose) or close (tight) the stitching is. I'm working on a setup that includes a DIY retractable motorized impact screen and curtain glides for the side tarps. Much appreciated!
@@mattjaworski-cwcscleagueco395 I went about an inch in between stitches figuring a golf ball is about 1.7' so as long as I'm comfortably under that number, it will hopefully be safe. Obviously the tighter you stitch, the safer it will be, but the more time it will take! 😊

Great setup young man, I'm looking to built a simulator on my garage,. I finally purchased a house with a 2 car garage for that purpose, keep my wife happy on one side with her car and keep myself happy on the other side with the simulator. plus I could safe tons of cash on ideas from your video. thumbs up bro.
It's is mounted about 9'8" above the ground, 14'8" from the screen. I used the projector central calculator to figure out what I needed based on the lens specs and where on the screen I wanted to project the image.
Yep, keep it all fresh from getting worn out. I flip the Holy Grail every few months, and I never hit the ball straight so I don't have to worry about rotating the impact screen as often. Modern problems require modern solutions. 🧐
I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve watched this video. It’s like a comfort video at this point, i throw it on for background noise everytime TH-cam suggests it, but anyway!! Question… when you first started hitting in the sim did you have any issues hitting your driver?? I’m having suchhhh a hard time it’s like my mind won’t let me full swing even tho i have plenty of room! It’s a total brain eff!
@@NoStringsAttached88 Haha too funny, make sure you don't use ad-block for me 😉 once I knew I had room to swing and that it was safe, I haven't had any problems with indoor swing syndrome. Many people with indoor cages do though!
@@sonnybonowig7538 Ya this build is just about the cage, you can add whatever your budget/goals allow in terms of extras! There are a lot of decent new LMs that do an alright job estimating launch data! Good time to be a Sim golfer! 🤩
Excellent video, I really appreciated the detail. If I were to install a simulator in my garage I would need to accommodate left and right hand golfers. What modifications need to be made? How much more space do I need?
Depends on if you are using a fixed overhead LM or something that you physically adjust based on the user, then if you want everyone hitting from the same spot. Generally speaking you are going to need about another 6' of width to accommodate swings from both sides of a central position, but make sure you research on the golf simulator forums to see what people using your chosen LM are building! Good luck my friend!
I'm going with a similar design using vinyl room dividers with grommets every 12". Can you elaborate on tensioning the sides of the screen? Did you use eye hooks like you did with the ceiling?
Good luck my friend! The side tension on the screens is bungees going out to some shelving units I had nearby on the outside of the cage. I looked at concrete anchors as a solution here as well but this was much easier, just had to make sure the shelves were far enough away from the sides so they would get hit!
It's a Carl's place standard screen, the one I got was even cheaper because it was a clearance one. It has held up super well! I bought square because I could rotate it 4 times if my off center impact area wore out, but I'm probably about 25,000 balls in now and I'm not close to rotating it! Use clean undamaged balls and you should be good!
Is the sky track still going strong for you. I know it’s alittle old now but someone kind of local has one for $800obo so I’m sure I can grab for about $600. Thought about maybe going the rapsodo mlm2 route also not sure yet.
Absolutely! The best data to have measured accurately and not estimated is ball data since that's where the magic happens. Being miles more accurate for ball data than radar based units is ideal, and I haven't run into any issues in the time I've owned it.
I went with 4x www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-x-12-ft-mesh-all-purposeweather-resistant-tarp-60576.html We sewed them together to make sure nothing could escape along the edges and corners. This formed the outer netting of the cage.
@@steventhebroker Good question, I'm almost positive it was called a back stitch and it was all done by hand. It took maybe 6 hours or so total over a few days as my hands tired out. The time is dependent on how close you put the stitches together as well, I chose something a little smaller than a golf ball for safety reasons!
Since you are setup more towards the right of the screen, does this skew shot direction? Or does the sky track read the real shot data as it’s hit and correlates to an on track ball flight even though you are on the right side of the screen?
Correct, the SkyTrak only cares where you are hitting in relation to its own alignment. They also have a feature where you can shift the driving range visually off center as well to help combat the "feeling" of aiming into the center of the screen. TGC 2019 also has that same feature, I don't use it for most of my recordings though, I just Hit it at straight at the right side of the screen. Good question!
Are you putting the mesh tarp on a track so that it slides in and out easily when you want to play and when you want to park your vehicle in the garage?
I'm using an InFocus 119HDX. It is a cheap but effective option for my setup and throw distance. I have another FAQ video up on my channel about this build that might help with additional info! Thanks for the question!
Awesome set up and tutorial thanks! Building the same exact set up in my tight little garage space with an 8x8 screen and 10x12 tarps from Harbor Freight. Curious how you have your tarps installed and on what ceiling track system? Thx!!
I just searched for some flexible curtain tracks on Amazon. Instead of putting one grommet through one of the track runners, I used 2-3 runners for each grommet with zip ties for the additional support. It has worked well so far for my tarps, but I could see it struggling with heavier tarps for sure. Thanks for watching!
You said you’re using a 9’ x 9’ impact screen? What aspect ratio is your projector set to? It looks pretty good and the whole aspect ratio thing is stumping me. I don’t have quite the space for a 9x9 it’ll be closer to 8x8, just trying to figure out the projector and what the image will look like.
I've used it in both 4:3 and 16:9. I currently use 16:9 because it is easier to record for TH-cam. The extra black/unused space at the top and bottom of the impact screen doesn't bother me at all. It will certainly bother some people, especially in more of a cinema room style build.
Very helpful video, I love it. Is your garage heated? I have a double attached garage that is insulated but not heated and wondering if I can get away with just using an infrared plug in heater when I'm golfing. I experience similar winters to you.
My garage has an overhead Modine Hot Dawg propane heater in it that I usually run up to about 68* in the winter. I then shut it down and let the garage cool when I'm filming, so if the video goes longer than a few hours I'll have to stop and heat it back up again since I can't run it and film at the same time because of audio pollution 😂
Wonderful Job, awesome! I really like your home build simulator, I enjoyed watching your video. Where can I find a list of all the items needed along with instructions to build something similar in my garage. A simulator like this could help me with my golf journey. I just released a F.A.Q. video that address this much better than this comment will, but essentially I used zip ties through the hooks of 3 rollers that came with the tracks to give it that smooth sliding ability!
I was planning on it yes since the garage is fairly close to the kitchen but it's not bad at all. I hit drivers at night filming with my daughter sleeping inside like 20' from the wall. So I never ended up putting any up. It would look way cooler though so there's that perk too 😆
@@displacedtexan6114 Great question, I'm actually doing an update video later this week! Honestly it's worked out way better than I could have imagined. To make this super safe retractable/collapsible sim cage for under $750 is unheard of. I haven't even rotated the square impact screen yet which was one of the great budgeting plans haha. I would estimate I'm somewhere between 30k and 50k shots in this cage, the only thing showing any sign of wear is really just the hitting strip, which is part of what I'll be testing in next week's video 💪
@muskratlinksgolf thank you for the input. Looking at building this once my new outdoor shop is built. Hoping to save a space for this set up. Would you see any concerns with the tarps being only 8 feet out, I'll be using the mevo +
@displacedtexan6114 Nice good luck with your build! It will depend on where you have your hitting area, as the main reason to extend the side baffling is to catch all hosel and toe shanks. If you can safely catch those, you're in business!
I'm considering doing a F.A.Q. follow up video on this in the upcoming weeks, but it will be on a week where I don't make the cut on my Sim Tour and therefore have an extra day to film/edit!
@@muskratlinksgolf Thanks. I thought the video was great, but as I started to think it through there are a lot of important details missing. 100% depends on your setup. Make sure to use the websites that let you enter different models to calculate screen size and throw distance. The one I chose for my setup isn't short throw, but yours will be different! Good luck my friend!
Feel free to send me an email, you can find it on my channel page. The cost is for the simulator cage, essentially everything you need to start golfing. The choice of LM, Projector, Computer, and accessories are all up to you and your budget!
I have another video on the channel that goes into more detail about some of the common questions from this video, but I ended up using the InFocus In119HDX. It is cheap, good lumens, and worked for my setup/throw distance!
There are actually some decent LMs out on the market at a more friendly entry level price. You get what you pay for obviously but I've heard good things about the Garmin R10 and the Rapsodo MLM2Pro!
What computer did you use? What projector. And what software. I am building the exact same setup but there are so many different projectors and computers and requirements for software. Appreciate the help. Hoping to have this built by the weekend.
Good luck with your build! Your computer specs will be dependent on the Sim software you want to run, I'm using TGC 2019. My computer is fairly beefy compared to minimum specs since I need to also record video at the same time. As for the projector, I'm using an InFocus IN119HDX. Cheap and reliable, and I don't need 4k for any of my needs. Certainly use the projector central throw distance calculator to make sure your projector matches the screen you are looking to fill!
@@muskratlinksgolf I will also be using the TGC 2019. Just don’t want to spend 1k on a computer tbat will be used only for that software. Any help is appreciated. Ordering tbat projector now as it seems like it should work in my space.
@@1WickedSS Ya the projector has a decent adjustable throw distance too which was helpful for mounting it since I didn't need to be inch accurate. Looking at the TGC minimum requirements, i5 and 4G of vRAM is all it needs, I feel like you should be able to get a pre-built for closer to 800 but I'm not expert on that 😄
I have very little room between my impact screen and wall, and the video does a good job of showing that at one point. To answer your question, we have the impact screen, then the mesh curtain, then another blanket that I hung mostly to block the light from the window. Nothing has ever hit the wall with this design which is ideal!
You certainly can hang impact screens wherever you want, they are designed to take the full force of a golf short and absorb it completely. As always, make sure you are in a completely enclosed and safe environment outside as we have all seen videos of shots getting shanked or thinned into the neighbor's house!
Good question, I use BirTees which are fairly popular in the simulator world. You can get them off of the BirTee website or off of Amazon. Most people use black as they seem to be less likely to cause any interference with photometric LMs.
I went with the InFocus IN119HDX, and the mount is custom using some metal brackets screwed directly into studs in the ceiling. I just released a follow up FAQ video to this one that has some more details about the projector as well! th-cam.com/video/1QOm9rLPqj4/w-d-xo.html
Does your channel have a video of you installing the netting/impact screen? I’m wanting to do something simple and retractable like yours. So I’m looking for some examples of how I can do it.
I don't have a video specifically installing the track/curtains, but I will add some more detail here: So I searched for some flexible curtain tracks on Amazon and screwed them into studs in the ceiling. Then I hooked 2-3 of the little track runners together through each grommet of the tarps with zip ties, this allows me to slide both sides and the "roof" of my cage back and forth out from the wall of the garage. The roof is tensioned by pulling it out away from the impact screen and looping the ends over some additional eye hooks with bungees as you saw in the video. Thanks for the question!
I have a F.A.Q. video that goes into more detail about this and other questions, but the short answer is: Impact screen from Carl's Place and the side baffling nets are Harbor Freight weather resistant tarps! th-cam.com/video/1QOm9rLPqj4/w-d-xo.html
Just under $750 for everything you need for the fully functional hitting bay. Obviously any LM and accessories will be extra and depend on your space/budget. Thanks!
Yep, good question! The best resource for this will be the Projector Central website throw distance calculator. If you have the budget, many configurations will use an ultra short throw projector mounted on the floor or on the ceiling close to the impact screen with a protective cage. My IN119HDx is mounted at just over 13' which is a few feet behind where I stand. Safely out of the way of any swing path, but close enough that shadows aren't an issue at all from either the golfer or the ceiling of the cage.
This is an excellent video. Will be saving it for when I build one in the next couple years. One question, I’m a lefty, basically everyone else I play with is a righty, would I be able to play a round with my right handed friends? I imagine all I’d need to do is walk the monitor to the other side of the mat but don’t know how it works
Thank you! It wouldn't really work out during the same round as you need to change settings on the SkyTrak and realign it each time you needed to swap sides. This is an opinion, but you could probably play a full round lefty, swap everything over, then have your righty friends play their round. Otherwise the other option at this price point is the Mevo+ which is Doppler based and sits behind your hitting area. Much friendlier to a mix of lefties and righties!
Yep, certainly can be done! So I searched for some flexible curtain tracks on Amazon and screwed them into studs in the ceiling. Thanks for checking it out!
I went with a Standard Impact Screen from Shop Carls. I picked one up when they were on sale to save a few bucks, but they are priced very reasonably anyways. Thanks for the comment!
@@jeffparnell5916 We used 4 12'x10' tarps sewn together for the enclosure. The top one on the ceiling is attached at the front to the curtain rails, and at the back where we hit it is tensioned by attaching the ends over some hooks in the ceiling.
They are the 10'x12' weather resistant tarps from Harbor Freight. I highly doubt they would stop a ball hit perpendicular to them without wearing out and eventually failing, but for balls hit parallel, it is very safe. They do a great job acting as baffling for shanks - especially because they hang loosely and absorb all the impact. As you can see in the video, I bought 4 and sewed them together to make an enclosed cube so balls can't get out along the seams where they meet. Again, I'm not giving you directions on what you should or shouldn't do to your house, just providing feedback and sharing my process so it might provide some inspiration to you! Enjoy!
The Shot Analysis is from TGC 2019. The basic way it works in that TGC 2019 takes the data from the SkyTrak then applies its own flight model to it. So a shot hit with the exact same parameters on the SkyTrak Range will be slightly different than on the TGC 2019 Range. They are extraordinarily similar, but worth noting that TGC 2019 does use its own flight model even though the data itself is just being pulled from the SkyTrak.
@@willgo7898 SkyTrak doesn't measure any club head data, it just calculates it based off of other parameters. In other words, it will get in the ballpark for club data, but it isn't accurate. If you are curious as to what SkyTrak measures vs calculates, I found this article helpful! mygolfsimulator.com/skytrak-data/ You will need to get into the $7.5k+ price point before you start to see units that measure club data.
I've put about 2,000 or so into it now and it is showing light wear and some darker spots where balls that were scuffed or dirty hit it. I think I'll want to rotate it at about 8-10k shots!

Thanks for your support - you were one of my first subscribers! The mesh tarps came from Harbor Freight: www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-x-12-ft-mesh-all-purposeweather-resistant-tarp-60576.html
I'm getting closer. I have one mesh tarp up.... Woo hoo. Did you use three flexible tracks? Are they right angles or are do you have them kinda rounded off? Also, did you hang the 10' side or the 12' side. I have it hung on the 12' side and there's about 2" open at the bottom. If I switch it and hang the 12' side down I have a puddle of mesh at the bottom which I guess is ok
I went with 2 flexible tracks, but cut 1/3rd off of each track to use as the 3rd side. As a result I didn't round off the tracks, just ran the two sides perpendicular to the back. I used the "puddle of mesh" tactic as it is dramatically safer and the mesh can be tucked under the foam time floor in my design. Great comment and good luck!
Impact screen to back wall is pretty close, like 8-12 inches. That's shorter than recommended which is why I have those extra carpets and sheets hanging behind the screen. If you are talking above the screen like tarps to ceiling, it's a little less, but I haven't run into any issues with skied drivers or really high lofted wedges. The angle and speeds they are traveling just get eaten up by the baffling. Of course, your setup will be different so run some tests before committing to a design to make sure it is safe for your space! Good luck my friend! 🏌️💪
@@muskratlinksgolfPreciate it! I’m probably the only avid golfer in the bunch so I’ll just have a little slack on the ceiling! Thanks! You saved me hundreds of dollars for sure going this route!

SkyTrak doesn't measure any club data, just ball data. It does, however, calculate much of the club data based off of the ball data. If you want a more in depth list of what parameters are measured vs calculated mygolfsimulator.com/skytrak-data/ has some good info!
Walmart ended up having the best price at the time so I went with Blue BalanceForm 3/8" tiles for the floor. I then glued together additional Green BalanceForm 1/2" tiles to get the stance mat to the perfect height for the Holy Grail. Thanks for watching!
Honestly, I’m just trying to find a low budget at-home Golf monitor so I can at least see how far I hit because my parents don’t have time to take me to a driving range so it would be easier if I could just practice golf at home. Usually these monitors on Amazon are all super expensive can you please suggest me a monitor that would be more affordable for me? (Like at least under 800$)
Certainly take a look at the golf simulator forums to check out the different LMs and find the one that's right for you! There might not be reliable ones at that price point, hitting balls in the cage without one might be more beneficial while saving up for a more reliable unit 💪
You can add a launch monitor if you want to, add a computer and projector if you want to go whole hog. Otherwise the cage is all you need to start practicing!
Nice setup! A beginner safe full mesh cage that can retract out of the way is exactly what I need. Where did you get the tracks so the mesh can be stored away? So the Mevo plus isn’t good for putting?
Thank you! I went with some Flexible Curtain Tracks off of Amazon, I would still recommend doubling or tripling up the little rollers it comes with to spread the weight of the mesh. My opinion on the Mevo's putting is based on research, not experience. You need to take significantly more time and resources to ensure you have a perfectly smooth putting area for it to have a chance at getting reliable readings. Combine this with the fact that most garages slope away from the house for drainage, and it was always going to be a better bet for me to go with a SkyTrak!
I don't play enough to say if it is a "substantial" improvement, but I've noticed a few things. When I saw my driver was spinning at 4k+, I replaced it and gained 30 yards. Knowing exactly how far each of my irons carry has also been a huge improvement for hitting greens. Most of all it has certainly added a new level of entertainment to golf as well! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I'm surprised the roof tarp is tensioned enough that balls don't dent your ceiling. I saw that you use bungee cords to tension the top net/tarp. Has that been good enough to keep the balls from denting the drywall ceiling? Awesome video!
I was a bit surprised as well since I planned on adding extra foam tiles there too. I tested smashing some 60 degree wedges up there and even moon balling some drivers just to test hitting the tarp as hard and fast as I could. Not even a sniff of making it to the ceiling yet! Worked better than I thought it would!
Brilliant video. Exactly what I’m looking for. I will be starting my build soon and super happy you shared as much info as you did. I’ll be using my Garmin R10 in my basement storage room. I’ll keep you updated on how it turns out with a vlog on my TH-cam channel - if you’re interested that is. Thanks again and HAPPY NEW YEAR. 🎊

@@andyburr7192 The exterior tarps are from Harbor Freight: www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-x-12-ft-mesh-all-purposeweather-resistant-tarp-60576.html The ceiling rails came from Amazon searching for "Flexible Ceiling Curtain Tracks". I was worried they would be a little cheap but they have been excellent so far as I doubled/tripled the number of rollers for each connection point to the tarps.
$737.16 for a retractable, safe, ready for golf hitting cage. You can certainly do it cheaper if you wanted to cut corners on safety, but given I have kids and new golfers using it, I went as safe as I could!
Technically you are correct I rounded $746 up to $750, makes for a better thumbnail! You are welcome to the spreadsheet with the cost breakout down to the grommet; just shoot me an email, good luck with your build my friend!
Total cost of the cage/hitting area is about $735. The total cost of the rest of the load out depends on what LM and Sim software you want, along with how nice a computer and projector you are planning to utilize. 😅
All of that is highly dependent on what you are trying to accomplish, so making recommendations isn't that productive. This video is about getting everything you need to start safely hitting balls in your space as cheap as possible. If you are looking for information about my setup specifically, feel free to send me an email and I'll be happy to provide specs for what I used.
Hahaha had to rewatch it since I didn't remember hitting a drive over 300 this video. No that into one didn't go 300 for sure, not with that launch angle 😂 Recorded a few shots on camera then smacked a few until I got one over 300. That's how you make an intro!
Yep, completely reasonable, you get what you pay for with a $2k unit. Once you start getting into LMs upwards of $8k, they do most of the processing internally rather than sending the data over to the computer for additional processing. Fewer steps yields less delay!

Much appreciated, thank you for the comments and good luck on your build!
I went to harbor freight and picked up moving blankets for like $5. Perfect for an extra layer behind the screen for added wall protection
I almost went that route as well, a solid solution for an extra layer!
As I'm watching this I said the same thing. Harbor freight ftw !!

Great job thinking through your design. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
Great build.....What was the mounting height and distance from the screen of your IN119HDx projector? Thanks,
It's is mounted about 9'8" above the ground, 14'8" from the screen. I used the projector central calculator to figure out what I needed based on the lens specs and where on the screen I wanted to project the image.
Looks great! Smart to rotate that hitting surface. 👍
Sweet set-up, and a person could go with a cheaper launch monitor. Alot of them out there are pretty good for less then $1000.
Nicely done!
Much appreciated!
I just saw you for the first time & subscribed.
@@TomLawhorn Welcome to the golf team, I appreciate the support!!
This is rad! I love it thanks for the info!
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Where is your impact screen from? How has it held up?
Being miles more accurate for ball data than radar based units is ideal, and I haven't run into any issues in the time I've owned it.
what net did you use? I may have missed that in the video but didn't see it.
I went with 4x www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-x-12-ft-mesh-all-purposeweather-resistant-tarp-60576.html
We sewed them together to make sure nothing could escape along the edges and corners. This formed the outer netting of the cage.
Great video. Question… What kind of stitch was that you said you did for the mesh? How long did that take you?
@@steventhebroker Good question, I'm almost positive it was called a back stitch and it was all done by hand. It took maybe 6 hours or so total over a few days as my hands tired out. The time is dependent on how close you put the stitches together as well, I chose something a little smaller than a golf ball for safety reasons!
@@muskratlinksgolfAwesome thanks.

For 9X9 it would be best to use 1:1 aspect ratio.

Great video! How loud are the golf shots inside the house? I would think I would drive my wife nuts 😂😂 did you do anything for sound proofing?

Any chance of some video on the roof tensioning and side mesh tarp curtain suspension systems? Thank you.

I have another video on the channel that goes into more detail about some of the common questions from this video, but I ended up using the InFocus In119HDX. It is cheap, good lumens, and worked for my setup/throw distance!
What's a cheaper version of the skytrack? $2k is a little out of my price range. Thank you
There are actually some decent LMs out on the market at a more friendly entry level price.
Looking at the TGC minimum requirements, i5 and 4G of vRAM is all it needs, I feel like you should be able to get a pre-built for closer to 800 but I'm not expert on that 😄
Is anything behind the impact screen? Do balls back there just bounce around and maybe hit the wall a little?
I have very little room between my impact screen and wall, and the video does a good job of showing that at one point. To answer your question, we have the impact screen, then the mesh curtain, then another blanket that I hung mostly to block the light from the window. Nothing has ever hit the wall with this design which is ideal!
Hello. Scratch golfer here! Does the impact screen need to be behind a wall? I would like to put this near my swimming pool?
You certainly can hang impact screens wherever you want, they are designed to take the full force of a golf short and absorb it completely. As always, make sure you are in a completely enclosed and safe environment outside as we have all seen videos of shots getting shanked or thinned into the neighbor's house!
Is there a parts list so we can kinda look around and find it?
@@iheartalea821 Absolutely, prices, links, and notes. Feel free to send me an email!
What golf tee are you using for the driver?
Good question, I use BirTees which are fairly popular in the simulator world. You can get them off of the BirTee website or off of Amazon. Most people use black as they seem to be less likely to cause any interference with photometric LMs.
what projector did you go with? and mount?
I went with the InFocus IN119HDX, and the mount is custom using some metal brackets screwed directly into studs in the ceiling. I just released a follow up FAQ video to this one that has some more details about the projector as well!
th-cam.com/video/1QOm9rLPqj4/w-d-xo.html
Waterproof? Can you do this outside and not worry about the weather?
Are you referring to the launch monitor itself? I don't believe the SkyTrak is waterproof no.
Does your channel have a video of you installing the netting/impact screen? I’m wanting to do something simple and retractable like yours. So I’m looking for some examples of how I can do it.
I don't have a video specifically installing the track/curtains, but I will add some more detail here:
So I searched for some flexible curtain tracks on Amazon and screwed them into studs in the ceiling.
Thank you for the information!
Questions, where did you find your screen and the nets?
I have a F.A.Q. video that goes into more detail about this and other questions, but the short answer is: Impact screen from Carl's Place and the side baffling nets are Harbor Freight weather resistant tarps!
th-cam.com/video/1QOm9rLPqj4/w-d-xo.html
I may have missed it? Total cost? Thanks for info.
Just under $750 for everything you need for the fully functional hitting bay. Obviously any LM and accessories will be extra and depend on your space/budget. Thanks!
Can you give some detail on the projector set up? On the ceiling, how far away from the screen, shadows etc. Thanks

How did you the ceiling with the mesh tarp and how many tarps did you buy for the whole enclosure ... Thanks
@@jeffparnell5916 We used 4 12'x10' tarps sewn together for the enclosure. The top one on the ceiling is attached at the front to the curtain rails, and at the back where we hit it is tensioned by attaching the ends over some hooks in the ceiling.
Thank you.
You are always welcome my friend!
how do i find that mesh tarp siding? and is it really safe? meaning no balls can go past it
They are the 10'x12' weather resistant tarps from Harbor Freight.
Enjoy!
Well done! The shot analysis data @17:00 - is that from SkyTrak or is other software/hardware used?
The Shot Analysis is from TGC 2019. The basic way it works in that TGC 2019 takes the data from the SkyTrak then applies its own flight model to it. So a shot hit with the exact same parameters on the SkyTrak Range will be slightly different than on the TGC 2019 Range. They are extraordinarily similar, but worth noting that TGC 2019 does use its own flight model even though the data itself is just being pulled from the SkyTrak.
@@muskratlinksgolf ... so how is strike location determined? Are tags applied to the club face, and then a software process of TGC?
@@willgo7898 SkyTrak doesn't measure any club head data, it just calculates it based off of other parameters. In other words, it will get in the ballpark for club data, but it isn't accurate.
@@muskratlinksgolf thanks man!
The distance from the top tarp to the wall is what? In case one of my buddies hit above the screen. Trying to make it safe for my non golfer buddies
Or ceiling shall I say so I can start the build
Impact screen to back wall is pretty close, like 8-12 inches. That's shorter than recommended which is why I have those extra carpets and sheets hanging behind the screen. If you are talking above the screen like tarps to ceiling, it's a little less, but I haven't run into any issues with skied drivers or really high lofted wedges. The angle and speeds they are traveling just get eaten up by the baffling. Of course, your setup will be different so run some tests before committing to a design to make sure it is safe for your space! Good luck my friend! 🏌️💪

Can you set auto-putt? What software?
You can indeed with TGC 2019, it has a host of putting options available to select from; we use Gimme < 6' and everything else we putt.
What club data is available with this monitor?
SkyTrak doesn't measure any club data, just ball data. It does, however, calculate much of the club data based off of the ball data. If you want a more in depth list of what parameters are measured vs calculated mygolfsimulator.com/skytrak-data/ has some good info!

Walmart ended up having the best price at the time so I went with Blue BalanceForm 3/8" tiles for the floor. I then glued together additional Green BalanceForm 1/2" tiles to get the stance mat to the perfect height for the Holy Grail. Thanks for watching!
i don't get the math. So it's 750 only for the hitting area right?
Full cage build out yes, everything you need to start smacking some balls safely!
What about the shot tracker
What software are you using ?
SkyTrak has built in range and improvement software, then I have TGC 2019 integrated for any course play!
Inspiring, have you seen a substantial improvement in your real golf game?
Awesome, good luck!!
@michaelblanksongolf
How has it worked for you? I’m debating on getting a R10 myself to get me through the winter in Wisconson
What 📽 did you use
Ended up going with the InFocus IN119HDX. Cheap and more than does the job for a garage setup!
@@muskratlinksgolf too rich for my blood. I found one for $180.
@@kbbvwelsh9334 Well that one I picked up for $105 off of ebay, but I think anything under $250 that does the job is a winner!
I am not finding the links for all of the materials
I ended up not using the exact links to items since most of them have changed or the price went up on Amazon; as I result I just talked about them or put up a picture on screen. If you need help finding something specific, let me know!
What did you use for your exterior tarp? Where did you get your ceiling rails? Thank you!!😊
@@andyburr7192 The exterior tarps are from Harbor Freight: www.harborfreight.com/10-ft-x-12-ft-mesh-all-purposeweather-resistant-tarp-60576.html
The ceiling rails came from Amazon searching for "Flexible Ceiling Curtain Tracks". I was worried they would be a little cheap but they have been excellent so far as I doubled/tripled the number of rollers for each connection point to the tarps.
How much did you spend on it
$737.16 for a retractable, safe, ready for golf hitting cage. You can certainly do it cheaper if you wanted to cut corners on safety, but given I have kids and new golfers using it, I went as safe as I could!
$750 huh? Is that some kind of new math lol? Nice setup, it's pretty much exactly what I want to do in my garage
Technically you are correct I rounded $746 up to $750, makes for a better thumbnail! You are welcome to the spreadsheet with the cost breakout down to the grommet; just shoot me an email, good luck with your build my friend!
I’m inspired 🥹
💪 it's a lot of work to play correctly, but it's an absolute blast to use!
What is the total cost?
Total cost of the cage/hitting area is about $735. The total cost of the rest of the load out depends on what LM and Sim software you want, along with how nice a computer and projector you are planning to utilize. 😅
You didn’t talk about the projector or computer
All of that is highly dependent on what you are trying to accomplish, so making recommendations isn't that productive. This video is about getting everything you need to start safely hitting balls in your space as cheap as possible. If you are looking for information about my setup specifically, feel free to send me an email and I'll be happy to provide specs for what I used.
No chance my parents would let me build this in my garage 😭
Depends if they golf or not 👀

@@jaydenorourke5715exactly😂, i moved out and build it
wish I had seen this when building mine.....
Haven’t even watched the video and this is high praise!
That drive did NOT go 300 yards 😂
Hahaha had to rewatch it since I didn't remember hitting a drive over 300 this video. No that into one didn't go 300 for sure, not with that launch angle 😂 Recorded a few shots on camera then smacked a few until I got one over 300. That's how you make an intro!
I don't like that delay.
Yep, completely reasonable, you get what you pay for with a $2k unit. Once you start getting into LMs upwards of $8k, they do most of the processing internally rather than sending the data over to the computer for additional processing. Fewer steps yields less delay!
