You know you can fix the audio by replacing the original speakers with meridian Signature versions. They fit right in. Also add sound dampning. Super easy fix, takes about 2 hours. Part Numbers for replacement parts: c2d30486 (tweeter); c2d24862 (midrange) and c2d24863 (bass)
The exhaust IS the sound system, which is stellar. Jaguar should really remove the radio, just to avoid confusion. ;)

I had a 2015 F-Type R for three years, put 27,000 miles on it with no reliability issues. The electronics are out dated compared to Audi and Mercedes, but so are everyone’s, they turn out more units in a week than Jaguar does in a year. No one buys a Jaguar or a Maserati for their electronics, you buy them for the FUN.
Electronic is a so small question, just upgrade it to Android one and that's all

I still think it's a lovely car, just look at it man.
For the gas thing it happens sometimes if the pipe to the tank is too short or angled too close to the opening. Basically it pools up and the pump thinks it's full so it clicks. You can try flipping the nozzle upside down. If that doesn't work you can just take the fuel cap and jam it in the trigger. It won't fully actuate it so it will pump fuel slower which will solve the back pressure issue.

Depreciation is your friend... just don’t buy new. 2 years ago, I picked up a pristine 1 of 60 2012 XK-RS with under 20K miles and a 100K CPO warranty for $65K... Original out the door price was almost $150k.

Hey @effspot, I had a '16 F-Type R with the Meridian sound system and all you need to do to fix the audio is to get a update from the dealer for "Radio static/hiss update". It's a firmware update and I did it and it was fixed for me (at all sound levels). Any song with bass would sound like static coming from the window tweeters. Have an '18 now and it doesn't have the problem either. Good luck!
I'm just glad you're not having the coolant issue I see so many of these have, where once you park the car all the coolant boils over and leaks out

Have you tried playing with the different settings for the speakers? My SVR meridian surround sound is so good.
Also... the SVR has the auto (on) (off) button that stops the car from turning off when you take your seatbelt off.
Can you wrap the vents on the good and the mirrors black? It would look so much better in my opinion

I’ve got a 2016 F-type R and I agree with most of the things you hate about your SVR, especially the speakers (I also have the meridian surround package) and the inconvenience when the car turns off after unbuckling the seatbelt when the car is in park. And the fact the the front side vents aren’t functional is just disappointing. Good to know I can relate to someone about the same issues!
Glad I wasn't the only one! Honestly a lot of people here think I actually hate the car, but in reality the exhaust and looks make up for everything I've mentioned here.
Those were the two points that won me over into buying it in the first place!
I have a Jaguar F-Type 2018 V4 300hp, which is 130 000 dollars here in Norway.. It’s Incredible! The fully upgraded Meridian sound system is the best sound system i’ve heard in a car.. The information system is also upgraded, and the rear view camera is really good! No complaints on this beauty..

Is it possible to replace the plastic paddle shifters with better quality after market ones?
I have the f type r awd and im in the uk, a few of the things you mentioned are not a problem here.I love my jaguar and there is not much I dislike.
As someone who is currently debating between a 2015 f type r and 2017 grand sport, this video helps a lot. The infotainment looks pretty disappointing. @effspot does your svr have the ventilated seats?

Most of these videos are always little things that make me appreciate a car more. This one has actually convinced me that this car is not worth near $130k.
It's totally worth it. Just don't pay MSRP.
It's a really nice looking car, and I wouldn't mind owning one, but I'd probably try to find a low mileage 2016 AWD R for ~$65k. $65-75k and it's a really nice car. At $100k+ there are just better options, IMO.

So you're telling me that if the vents had holes in, the music system had better speakers, the reverse camera had more pixels, the car didn't switch off when in park and you take your belt off and the paddle shifters were metal you would be happy to pay 130,000? I'm sure you could probably rectify all those things for 2,000!! I don't think jaguar by skimping on these cheaper options have saved tens of thousands on one car, these are all very small faults that on the whole scale of things you get with this car don't really make a difference towards the full value. Agreed Jag could have done better with these small parts and minor problems but to say that they would affect the full price either way is ridiculous when you're spending 130,000, these are not deal breakers

I have the 2014 RWD V8R and if you drive in dynamic mode (or simply take of the eco stop option) it won’t turn off when in park... The « too loud » issue isn’t really an issue since you buy the car for the sound of that V8! And I saw a comment about comfort for tall people and at 6’2 I’ve done plenty of 6+ hour trips stopping exclusively for gas and it’s great! We had space for 2 weeks worth of luggage and two 24-packs of beer and some extra stuff! Reliability seems to be a coin toss deal.. You’re either plagued with problems or you have a reliable car... at 40k miles I’ve yet to have any problems (knock on wood)!
Overall, it’s a beast of a car and sure there’s better out there, but this has the soul of a Jaguar and it’s a dream for Jaguar lovers! The only points I fully agree on is the aged infotainment and the depreciation, but that’s also how I was able to afford it! 😂 Most of the « issues » cited are pretty far fetched and don’t affect overall ownership!
Also question, have you hit 200mph in your SVR? On a closed course track of course..
I bought a 2018 F Type R V8 and I love driving it! The thing I hate is the stereo how plain it is. I agree I could be nicer. I just got my car back from the dealership today after being in the shop for 3 weeks just to upgrade the damn thing! Talk about frustrating as I think they did not know wtf they were doing for it to take so long!! Other than that I love the sound and the way it handles ♥️

I have a v6 f type and my sound system was fine at first but then it sounded like I had a blown speaker and couldn’t listen to any songs with some bass. I took the car to service and they said it needed a system update. It’s back to normal now. As far as the car turning off, it only happens with mine when the stupid start stop is on. So when I want the car to not turn off I push that button to turn the start stop off after pressing Park. Anyways I love my car!
The thing that impresses me the most is the fact that you barely have a job and can still afford this. Respect bruh.

I have a 2016 F-type R. Agreed with most points. About the seatbelt and engine shutoff feature, my car only does that when engine auto shutoff is on and the engine is off (seems like that's the case in the video). In dynamic mode, my car rarely shuts off the engine at a stop, and I always drive in dynamic mode, so I don't encounter this often.
Absolutely agreed on the infotainment system. Unpredictably slow. I could manage if changing songs is consistently a half second lag, but it's anywhere from .5 to 3 seconds. Typing is also slow with the split second lockout between each keystroke. Anything that has to do with the infotainment system is just slower. My last gen 2013 Mercedes E-class didn't lag at all and had more features, but my current C-class system is also pretty slow, but not Jaguar slow. Frustrating how these things are getting slower.
Jaguar paint also seems to be softer than Mercedes. Paint definitely scratches much easier. Early F-types had some issues with paint along the side skirt and front bumper panel gaps flaking.
Not sure why losing 50% value in three years is an issue specific to the F-Type. A lot of luxury cars, especially luxury sports cars, depreciate about that much.
I find that the gas pump issue varies from pump to pump. I don't always get a consistent lock refueling my Mercedes either. Most of the time I do manage to get it to lock by making sure I have the nozzle fully inserted by giving it a good push after it's inserted. Then I ease into the trigger and lock when there's a steady stream of fuel going.
The loud exhaust is definitely a police magnet. I've never had a police encounter until I got this car, and I have two under my belt by now (no ticket, thank god). I am driving slower than before since I'm always paranoid about police popping out of nowhere.

Why the car turned off in park is because you have auto stop-start on, that shuts the engine (obv.) and when you put it in park it just decides to shut it self of. So every time I get in my F-Pace, I turn it of like a routine :)

On my old V6s as a daily, the steering was abit too heavy and big so you needed to put in energy.
They did improve those paddle shifters from the previous years. It’s definitely an upgrade those plastic paddle shifters lol

Great video effspot. I'm considering this as my next car... but at this price I have so many options, including a CTS-V. And when you have some amazing bargains like the Infiniti Q50S Redsport I have now... hard choices.
DId you pay the full price or are paying it monthly? I got a 2021 450 ftype and its the first year so I am also thinking abut depreciation and expenses lol BUt its totally worth the cost for the driving experience
I heard jaguar is refreshing the ftype and some others in the next year or two. New drive trains and interiors. So you should wait to pick these up.

I had an S-Type and I had battery and electrical issues with my car. I had to change the whole harness system in the car and it cost me $6500. And the battery issues I had was the car would be dead when I would come out in the morning to start the car. I always had to cross my fingers when i went places that the car battery would not die. It's very strange.

Found one on For 38,000$ here in Washington and 35k for a 2014 f-type s convertible. Depreciation does hit hard on these cars .
My 2nd Gen XK has had so many plastic trim pieces break in the last two years. Jaguar does need to get rid of its plastic addiction.
Are you shutting the bonnet from the middle? If your hand is on the side, it will not latch properly.

2017 F-Type R, AWD V8 owner here (about $115K fully loaded with a bunch of extras) and you TOTALLY NAILED most of the pet peeve's I have with this car, including that damn belt release/engine "feature" that my dealer didn't know!!! The subpar Infotainment system was my BIGGEST issue, considering the premium price and brand. Economy K-cars have better Infotainment systems for a fraction of the $. The overall GUI does look outdated and operates like a SLOW Win 2000 PC. Audio bass still causes irritating vibrations at 60%+ volume, etc. I sent a ton of customer feedback to Jag about everything and never heard back, of course.
For the record tho, it's still one of the most uniquely beautiful looking and sounding Euro-Exotics sports cars on the road at just under the cost of an Aston Martin or Ferrari/Lambo, etc. I ALWAYS LOVE driving this baby, so I take the good with the bad (like my dating life). And people who still think a GT-R or any NON-Euro exotic would be a better purchase over the F-Type just doesn't get it.

Why is the navigation system different to every other jaguar especially a 2017 model, because we have a 2015 jag xe and that has a newer looking system, is it just something with you being in a foreign country? I don’t know but the British navigation system is brilliant and everything is spot on in our jag, I love ours

The Audio is now massively improved with a TSB, get your dealer to apply it. It was a wrong crossover in the AMP.

Gordy. when you fill up, put the fuel nozzle all the way in and then pull it out about half an inch to an inch.. the reason it will shut off and release the handle is because fuel is splashing back and touching the end of the nozzle telling it the tank is full... maybe you have tried this but thought id let you know. had the same problem with my skyline

Everything you just exposed are all dealbreakers, collectively. For $130,000, you could've gotten a AMG GT or a used Gallardo or a Gran Turismo. Still a nice ride tho.

Everycar once you have owned it for a while has its faults, things that you think they could have done better that now irritate you every day, vents that do nothing, plastic this, funny systems that turn off, cheaper materials that wear out quicker than you thought! But these are all very minor problems they are not deal breakers, they might have cheaped out on these minor faults but you know what your actually spending your money on is the chassis,suspension,engine,exhaust system,gearbox,wheels,bodywork ect!! To say that you have changed your mind because of $15 paddle shifters instead of $80 metal shifters or better speakers,reverse camera is daft, if you're spending 30,000 on a ford then yes but to say these minor problems that could probably be rectified for less than 2,000 if you really really needed to is crazy I think, that's like turning a million dollar house down because you don't like the back doors and the curtain rails and light fixtures look cheap! These are not deal breakers

Used F Type SVR/R's are great deals. Under $80k, loud, sexy, and fast cars; and really not that bad.
The Dodge Rams info screen is even better
The key needs to be in the right place before you can switch it on and it takes and age to find it when you eventually place it in the correct location.
There is no carpet protector for the foot rest.

*effspot I have a 'top outfitted' Rsport . . . w/ 'premium meridian soundsystem' and **_OMG_** you are spot on - - I swear it sounds like front door speakers are 'blown' with the incessant and unavoidable buzzing/rattling it drives me INsANe to point that whilst driving I drive w/ left leg bent/so as to place ("plant") knee firmly against driver's door speaker to mitigate (partially) the infuriating speaker buzz/rattle. Dealer says "no issues speaker is fine" and true, it is - at like 3.8 dB volume max and bass/mid settings at minimum. OMG the sound system truly maddens me so dont feel bad it's not just you but clearly an endemic issue b/c I guess not one Jag designer/tester ever drove one with the radio on. Or they'd have known. Because it IS that bad*

That’s why I believe you should be able to test the car out for a week. Just to see if the vehicle actually fits into your life style. Dealers want you to drive the car around the block and make in some cases $100,000 + decision.

All in all nicely presented but I do find you a bit harsh mate. I have the base premium model. The meridian system is as good as it gets for me. I would have it checked if I were you. Dial system, point taken but I never realized it till you pointed it out. You are bang on for the infotainment system. My understanding is that the 2019 model is upgraded significantly. As for the fuel cap. I never had any problem attaching it. What would I add to you list? paint job! The paint is too thin. It chips away too easily!
I was thinking to upgrade to an SVR or the R when the new V8 engine (BMW) will equip the new and last F-Types by 2021. But now I do have my doubts. I might splash 30k extra and get a slightly used vantage! What do you think?
Auto engine shut off is Jaguar thing. My company has XF and do same thing. Ya I know what you mean some time I feel same as you mention.

BMW will autopark in a similar scenario. If you open the door without a seatbelt on and you're in gear it will park.
Turn off auto stop/start to deactivate the auto-shutoff feature
