    No joke. I have the same truck, same rims, same color setup. Black truck, green bow tie, green brakes. After ls swap I planned on getting the black bumper and a new lip and putting a green trim on it. I’m shook.

    What company spindle is that? Just picked up a qa1 level 2 coilover kit with qa1 upper and lower arms which can get me 2 inch of drop was going to get some Belltech spindles for the other 2 inches. After watching this considering returning them and getting the qa1 level 3 kit which can get 4 inches of drop with stock spindles, was wondering if you had any suggestions? Thanks

    Got a 97 sierra sl V6. Will be swapping to v8 in the future and want to lower it now with suspension that'll accommodate the v8. I have all factory suspension currently but with energy suspension undercarriage bushings kit.
    I was a 3-4 drop and wonder if 3in spindle drop is best or is there something better and why?

    Good morning, great information. My cousin is doing a 5/7 drop on his 1988 OBS c1500. The issue he had was his rotors wouldn't fit over his spindle. On the box, it said 88-98 extd cab. His is a std cab (shortbed). Are they not the same.

    • @elopez4225
      @elopez4225 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rotors are different from 92-98 std cab. 92-98 std cab use the 92-98 Ex-Cab spindles, which have larger diameter inner wheel brgs. Also, the 88-91 Ex-Cab already have the same spindles as the 92-98 std and Ex-Cab. The only different ones are the 88-91 Std cab spindles, they are smaller. Unless someone has changed the spindles.

    Did you lower the front back down a couple more inches by adjusting your coilovers? If so, how is the ride now? I have the same coilovers lowered all the way on stock spindles and it rides way too rough. My hunch is my suspension travel is limited and bottoming out. I was planning to add drop spindles and back off on my coilovers to remedy.

      Did you lower the knob to 1? Also take your bump stops off if there hitting cause that's what cause it to hit hard. Other then that mine road way better shocks.

  • @6Sanchize6
    @6Sanchize6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Have you ever tried lowering control arms? I'm curious about the ride. Some say coilovers don't ride too good

    • @DrivenbyGears
      @DrivenbyGears  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No but lowering control arms our a way better option. And coilovers can be stiffer but it makes it handle good

  • @nonameisthename138
    @nonameisthename138 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video, so basically what you're saying is its best to go on and spend the extra money to do coilovers vs drop spindles, right? And also, what drop spindle were you using? Don't remember if you mentioned it or not..

    • @DrivenbyGears
      @DrivenbyGears  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well im saying drop the truck a different way other then drop spindles. I was using drop spindles from spindle source. I think drop control arms would be better alternative and smaller coil spring. But yes coil overs are definitely a way better option.

      @@DrivenbyGears with control arms you can affect the angle of the ball joints, tie rods, and alignments can be nearly impossible to get perfect. I appreciate the video because I’ve been researching the best way to lower my Silverado. Besides coil overs there’s really no good way.
      The flip kit for the rear affects loading and towing on the rear. So I went with 2” spindles and 4 “ hanger…
      Which I have to drill out the rivets and replace the hanger. I wanted the flip to avoid doing the drilling. But found there’s really no good way.

    Anyone know where I can buy some stock spindles for a 97 GMC Sierra? I installed a 2 inch drop spindles years ago but I wanna make it stock height again but I can’t find any stock spindles anywhere! Only ones I can find are on partsgeek and the description says “2 inch desired lowering” I don’t know if that’s supposed to mean it’s a stock spindle but I can lower it? Any advice please. Thank you.

      I bought a 2"/4" kit that has the spindles. And the shackles towards the tailgate end. And there's drop brackets for the leaf spring to go into, towards the front of the bed. You'll have to grind out the factory rivets. And use frame bolts. I also went that extra step and welded the brackets to the frame.
