    I once tried to gently pet a bumble bee on a sunflower in my backyard. When my finger approached them, they raised one of their legs towards me, so I didn't touch them. I repeated this, and I got the same reaction every time. After me, my daughter wanted to know if she could be more successful in petting the bumble bee, and the same thing happened.
    We were totally amazed. This little insect had perfectly estimated the situation. They knew we weren't planning to harm them, and they also knew how to express their boundaries in a way that we humans understood🐝

      Bees are also very capable of smelling fear, so that you were curious and not trying to harm the bee, it even smelled you were not a threat!

      That’s interesting. I’ll have to try this.
      Skunks, opossums and raccoons will tolerate people who follow their rules. I imagine that there are lots of other species that will.

    Let's please not confuse individuality with personality. I am all for acknowledging animal intelligence and sentience. But personality is not the right word here.

      I'm curious, how do you define "individuality" and "personality"? Why do you prefer to use the first world and not the second one?

    I already knew this-look at the spider in charlottes web 😂❤ In all seriousness, I had an Eastern Hercules beetle I rescued from an airport ramp a few years ago. It learned when I brought it food and would run over to the bowl, it recognized me too. It was absolutely beautiful and adorable imho. ❤definitely had a personality 😊❤👍🏻👁️

    I didn’t get what she meant. How did the cockroach example prove personality? So some ants do different to other ants workers etc bees too???? Please help me …

      In fact she wanted to show that some individuals react differently to new situations (here the discovery of a new environment) : some are a bit reckless whereas others are more careful. And these individuals show these same trait to different situations, so she concludes that animals (here cockroaches) have "personalities" (some are more careful than others, like us, humans).

      So yeah, different insects act in a different way than their peers (which makes sense, because if different individuals act differently, the species is more likely to adapt itself if a new pressure of the environement appears (like a new predator, or a change in the environment itself)). At least, it makes sense to me, but maybe do you (or does someone else) think differently :p

    Yeah, most creatures have a personality. If they breathe , live, think,mate, and fight to survive. They have a personality.

    • @shadowfoxlrdf9323
      @shadowfoxlrdf9323 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What do you mean? Like, why if they breathe, live, mate and fight they necessarily have a personality? Can't they do all of these things if they don't? And what makes you think that "creatures" think?
      (I'm not trying to contradict you, I just want to know what leads you to think that way and to push your reasoning :p You don't have to answer if you don't feel like it ^^)

    I don't know the background of this video, when produced, or if real or 'deepfake'. But all living creatures possess agency. Now, exciting folk working in military intelligence, or security - well maybe not so much agency apparently. Be more clear in what you are saying, if this presentation is just this one clip, my preference.
