Thank you for the video sir. I have a 97 Maxima myself. Just replaced the spark plugs today using this video. I have a few videos saved now for projects I'd like to do. I struck gold with this incredible library of Max videos.
Thank you! Your videos are clear--the visual, audio, and explanation. We finished the MAF testing and cleaning--saved $214.99 plus tax. We watched this video and I feel confident that this job will be a success just like the MAF service. My nephew, who is not mechanically inclined in any way shape or form, found your videos, and after watching, is motivated to try the maintenance himself, rather than having to find a trustworthy and competent shop that is open on week-ends. He is a college student so these videos are saving him time and money, while helping him acquire some much needed automotive repair skills and confidence.
I would first check the condition of the transmission fluid. Make sure it's not burnt or dark color. If it is, change the fluid. I have a video up showing how to replace the fluid. If the fluid looks ok, check to see if you have any engine codes. The drop resistor usually throws off code p0745. Other components that could effect shifting is the vehicle speed sensor and throttle position sensor. But again, usually you'll have an engine trouble code for these sensors. Let me know what turns up.
Very nice 👌, I'm doing my neighbor plus, I have done plenty of spark plus but first time doing this on a Nissan maximum. Thank you for your suggestion and explanation on this job. 👍😎
Thank you and I really like your videos. I only have one ask. The right and left bank are determined from the rear of the engine -- not the front. The concept of right and left is based on the driver's position. The right/left from the drivers/operators seat assignment started with two horse wagons and continued with steam locomotives.
Great video step by step listed every tool. My spark plug on the 4 cylinder is misfiring so I'm just going to replace them all your videos going to help. Should I replace the coil packs too?
I30 2000 233000 miles . p0430 My coil pack is arcking? Only reason why my check engine light is on . iradium dual. For me. Love the car . wind Noise is amazing from the old door seals .. Starter went out at 230000 miles . 3\22 240000 check engine light off most of the time .
Love your video's they help out a lot , have a question do I have to gap or Measure the spark plug before I install the new one, if so what should it be on ?
I like Craftsman. I've been using their tools for years. The magnet sockets are easy to find. Pretty much every tool company makes them. Check out your local auto part store, harbor freight, sears, etc. Cheers
Thanks to your video, my car is running and I changed all 6 plugs!! I did brake off one of my coils the one in the front furthest to the right. The car still runs now. Is it safe to drive that way?
hate asking this but .. my maxima is shifting late to second gear.. took it in to trans guy .. he was clueless. Have you any idea what else besides trans would cause to shift hard to second .. btw only when gassing it kinda hard .. any help would be appreciated.
Hi, My tools of Harbor Freight arrived. Today i saw your response, I will need a extension because one on the box is short to do this right? Whats extension I can buy? Tks guy.
hi , like your video. i have 06 maxima ..it shut down while running and start hard taking long cranks when start it take very slow and shift hard on gear. what could be the problem
Sure. I'll add in the description box. It's one of the few things from Harbor Freight that has really worked very well for me: www.harborfreight.com/64-pc-14-in-38-in-12-in-drive-sae-metric-socket-set-63462.html
Hey bro... I went ahead and replaced all 6 spark plugs (thanks to your video), and I also replaced all six coil packs as well. The problem I'm having is the new coil packs (the longer ones near the firewall) will not sit with the small cap (the rubber cap at the top or bottom of ignition coil) on _ so I have to remove all three to get them fit over the new plugs (double platinum auto-lite by the way). I'm wondering if it's the plug, or is these coils a little longer...but they measure the same size as the ones currently installed. And these were bought at AutoZone specifically designed for my 96 Nissan Maxima. Any ideas on why this is happening? P.s. Car runs okay without the cap though.
Rush They should definitely fit. It's a tight seal and you have to apply some pressure to get the coil pack over the spark plug but if it's the right part it should fit.
Hi, I have a 99 Maxima, and the electrical connections on my coil packs have green tabs instead of the gray ones in your video. I have tried pushing down on those tabs and pulling on the connectors as hard as I can but they WILL NOT RELEASE!!! The green tabs on mine look a little bit different, and can actually slide inward and outward on the connectors- are they supposed to come completely out before pulling on the connectors? Thanks
+CarsNToys Trust me these connectors are NOT coming off just by pressing down on that tab. It is a different type of locking mechanism- I read here that the green tab types have to be pushed inward toward the coil pack (look at the photos in this link to see the same green type tabs I am talking about): nissanhelp.com/diy/maxima/projects/spark_plug_coil_replacement.php But it is STILL not working.
Hi Is the coil pack suppose to come out relatively easily, I ask because I can not seem to get the #2 coil pack to come out, the more I pulled the more it felt like it was going to brake. It felt like I was stretching something out of shape. I stopped and decided not to go any further with the removal until I found out if there was any special way for removing them.
98 nissan maxima, what gasket or seal needs to be replaced if my #1 plug boot (only) is wet with oil? The plug itself is not fouled. This can't be normal, can it?
+Tim Dryer There's a gasket in the spark plug tube that prevents oil from getting on the plug. You'll have to pull the valve cover off. I have an older video showing how - th-cam.com/video/lqJkGOlTvSo/w-d-xo.html
Where I can buy these TOOLS as you use in this video? I need urgently replace my Spark Plugs of my Infinit i30 1997. I think as original still. Thanks.
Leandro Martini I actually keep a small tool kit in my trunk from Harbor Freight. Take a look at their 64 piece tools set for $35. The only thing you'll need to add is an extension to reach the spark plugs. Other than that, the tool kit has everything you'll need.
Hi again. I have a 97 Infiniti i30 with 97k miles. I do not know what else to do to solve my problem. The RPM is unstable despite the car moving, the rotation-suddenly drops and the engine off. Only start the engine if I start accelerating while. - I've done cleaning the air sensor with MASS AIR FLOW product; - I've only had the two oxygen sensors (lambda); - Not changed the spark plugs still 6; - I did not use any additives to clean the injectors. Give me a light please, it's dangerous to drive this car. Thank you! Martini
CarsNToys Yes, the codes is 02: P0110 (Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit - Bank1); P0306 (Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected). I already bought all SIX ignition coils and Spark Plugs to replace. I already bought a IAT Sensor BUT I dont found where this sensor was installed on Infiniti i30 1998. You know? I bought this sensor: www.ebay.com/itm/Standard-Motor-Products-TS486-Air-Charged-Temperature-Sensor-/331304158708?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d234445f4&vxp=mtr Please, help me because I dont have much money to pay a mechanic. :( Tks guys!!!

Every other video seemed complicated this one was perfect! Keep it up man👍

Elroyssuperior Glad to help out! More videos to come. Cheers.
Thank you every much. I always love to watch and learn from your video which are so great & so clear with instructions for average Joe.
Superb video on R & Ring the Spark Plugs, especially the rear ones. Good thing you don't have to remove the Plenum!
Thanks for the video. Just changed out my spark plugs and now I feel like I can tackle more car related things. Thanks Bro!
Peter A Good stuff man
My man! I like the video angles, plus you're more efficient than other posters

The video is really helpful. And so easy to follow! Two thumbs up.
Thank you!
Really good video got alot of info have a blessed day
Clean,clear,and well spoken.
Good stuff. Harbor freight tools and all. Thanks
Very nice, I have a 2005 Nissan Maxima so I'm assuming everything will be similar or the same. thanks for the tutorial! Subscribed!
Thanks man I hope it's this easy to do on my rusted out i30. AFAIK the plugs haven't been changed in over 100k
Thank you for simplifying the process.
Glad to help!
No problem, Patrick. Cheers.
Very detailed great explanation of everything thanks this was really helpful 👍

great demo/instruction....thanks!
You're welcome. Cheers
wow! yours JUST came right out! mine are stuck! i guess i'll break them off and replace with new ones.
Thanks for doing this!!!!
Excellent video thanks for the explanation I only have one query how many spark plug are? It's only 4 there are changes
Edgar anibal Zuñiga Ruano your car is V6 so 6 plugs if V 4 then 4 plugs but maxima only comes v6

What year is your Maxima?
Easy peasy. Thanks
Hi: Will the regular SK Tool 4420 5/8" spark plug socket work or do I need the extra deep 4421 model?
Where gone at infiniti i30 2000 the oil motor cooler????
Love your video's they help out a lot , have a question do I have to gap or Measure the spark plug before I install the new one, if so what should it be on ?
Thank you. Most plugs are pre-gapped from the factory.
What socket set brand do you have? How do you like it and how common are those magnet ones?
I like Craftsman. I've been using their tools for years. The magnet sockets are easy to find. Pretty much every tool company makes them. Check out your local auto part store, harbor freight, sears, etc. Cheers
Thanks to your video, my car is running and I changed all 6 plugs!! I did brake off one of my coils the one in the front furthest to the right. The car still runs now. Is it safe to drive that way?
cashflow2day You'll want to fix the coil as soon as you can. Running on five cylinders will give you poor performance.
hate asking this but .. my maxima is shifting late to second gear.. took it in to trans guy .. he was clueless.
Tks guy.
Leandro Martini Yeah, you'll need an extension. The extension with the tool set isn't very long. I would grab one at least 6" long.
How much should the gap be? Sir??
What size is the extension please how many inches
hi , like your video.
i have 06 maxima ..it shut down while running and start hard taking long cranks
when start it take very slow and shift hard on gear. what could be the problem
harpreet kesar Could be a number of things. Have you done anything to the car recently? Have you checked for trouble codes?
Is it possible for you to link the exact toolset you had in the beginning of this video?
Sure. I'll add in the description box. It's one of the few things from Harbor Freight that has really worked very well for me: www.harborfreight.com/64-pc-14-in-38-in-12-in-drive-sae-metric-socket-set-63462.html
You have a video to how to change of oxygen sensors and where is located sr
I have a couple of them. What's the trouble code? There are multiple O2 sensors.

The I30 is almost identical.

Sometimes they can really 'solidify' on there; especially if they've been on for years. Just have to be patient.
I was able to get it out and it turns out that it was a after market coil pack that had over sized rubber seals.

Do these same instructions apply on an 02 Maxima?
Benjamin Roberts Sure does.
CarsNToys no it doesn't. The plenum has to be removed. You also failed to say the gap for the plugs need to be .044

Thank you so much!!! :)
Will do.
Im using all the same tools but i cant even get a grip on spark plug #1 "first one on the back side" what am i doing wrong??
how much torque on the spark plug
Not much. Typically 15-17 ft lbs.
Could it be my drop resistor??
first thing you should say is what size motor is it 3.0 or 3.5
The video shows a 3.0L V6 (VQ30DE), but the process should be similar for a 3.5L (VQ35DE)
Same concept different job bro I got 04 maxima .
I have 2000 maxima is it the same as the video?
Pretty much
need help have a p0300 code

CarsNToys Yes, the codes is 02:
P0110 (Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit - Bank1);
P0306 (Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected).
I already bought all SIX ignition coils and Spark Plugs to replace.
I already bought a IAT Sensor BUT I dont found where this sensor was installed on Infiniti i30 1998. You know?
I bought this sensor: www.ebay.com/itm/Standard-Motor-Products-TS486-Air-Charged-Temperature-Sensor-/331304158708?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d234445f4&vxp=mtr
