I always thought when a man was in love with you he sent flowers, sent candy, bought you expensive gifts and took you on exotic vacations. I have been married for 54 years (I was 19 and he was 21). My husband did none of these. What he did do was respect me, took care of me during two bouts of breast cancer and bladder cancer, does laundry, pays bills, when we brought our newborn home from the hospital, he let me sleep and got up with the baby every night and fed and rocked him. He had a full time job but did all this because he loved me and our baby. He is my Rock. I thank God everyday for him. Three years ago he had Quadruple bypass surgery. He also suffered two mini strokes but by the grace of God, he survived both and is doing very well. I am so very blessed.

I remember while dating my now husband, how we figured out we loved each other beyond like or infatuation. We told each other everything after we became close. The worst regrets, the family hurts, why we struggle with certain things… we shared it all. We agreed that if we even do wrong in a big way someday the love won’t change. I grew up in a dysfunctional and broken home and never believed that a man could/would put me before himself. I was so blessed to find the man that would gladly put me first over 6 years ago. I know he loves me for me, regardless of how I look or act at times. He's been proud of me when I looked like a fat troll carrying our two children, when I dealt with postpartum psychosis, and all the times I couldn't see my own worth. Two kids, multiple family deaths, a lost job, illness, and 6 years later we are more in love than ever. There is someone out there for everyone, and that initial wave of love won't decrease over time or during challenging times, but instead it will become stronger.

If there is still some value to it like you get along together very well (which woild be kinda strange if you got divorced) then yes. If not then not. I have ppl whom i dont wanna see anymore. My husband shows his love for me in subtle ways. He doesn't give me expensive gifts and stuff like that. He makes a living for us and takes care of our home, he brings me flowers now and then because it makes me smile, he listens to my feelings and tries to help, he tries to make every wish come true that I have, he proudly takes me everywhere he goes, he tries to change behaviors that make me feel bad, there's this smile that he only shows for me, and nobody else. And I'm totally the only one who's criticism he's interested in. I've had mental health issues for a long time and I've been that kind of person you wouldn't want to have around, but he saw something special in me. He chose to live with me when I was at my worst and helped me get better. I can't express how grateful I am that I've found him.
Mines to, when I was really sick he saw me at my worst, made me hot water bottles, cooked for me, cleaned up my vomit, played my favorite music, massaged me, told me I was beautiful. He said he would wait for me if I die and we can be together again in paradise. I'm selfish I fully expect him to keep his promise, I don't want to live without him, he is my forever soul mate. My hubby does all of this. When our daughter was born,hole in lung, in NICU,after emergency Csection, after I got home,was in bed with him,he was so upset our newborn daughter was alone at the hospital, he asked me if I minded that he got up and went to the hospital to visit her. (parents could visit anytime). He went to be with her. Melts my heart thinking about it even though it was 18 years ago now.

Thankfully, nothing ever happened...other than some rude ass customers. And when men staying there hit on me, I always stayed professional so they never got too friendly. My ex used to read me a book until i fell asleep. He sang songs to me and wrote songs for me. We always said i love you at least 2 a day. Many cases yes but there are guys out there that keeps this! Been married 5 years soon 6 and he does all of these E V E R Y day! I get to choose tv programs because it really doesn't matter much to him as long as he gets to see me happy. He cares for me and protects me first and foremost above every single thing in our lives and we have 100 animals depending on us and our responsibility. I come first, always. When I tell a problem he knows I can probably solve it on my own but he does lay out input that I can use if I wish to. Lastly, we have never spent a night apart and have never argued and that's because we respect each others space and when we communicate we lay out ideas and perspective and find common ground and go for that plan. In disagreements we agree to disagree and drop it because no issue is heavy enough to be worth losing a day's happiness of loving eachother and enjoying each others company. They say love is blind and it's quite true. We both have flaws of course but because of love they don't bother us, they are so small that they don't count and some quirks even feels kinda adorable. :) He strives to keep me safe and happy, I strive to keep the household together when he is away and it just works!

I know these are things a man does when he’s in love, but these are things I routinely do with and for my friends. Just seems these are the right way to behave whether friendship or romance, male or female. If someone attacked a man I was with, I’d fight along side him to subdue the attacker. All these things should be mutual. And though I’d love to be protected by an all powerful, deeply loving man, even he’d be human and need back some of what he gives in time of need. And I’m there for it.

I grew up in a dysfunctional and broken home and never believed that a man could/would put me before himself. I was so blessed to find the man that would gladly put me first over 6 years ago. I know he loves me for me, regardless of how I look or act at times. He's been proud of me when I looked like a fat troll carrying our two children, when I dealt with postpartum psychosis, and all the times I couldn't see my own worth. Two kids, multiple family deaths, a lost job, illness, and 6 years later we are more in love than ever. There is someone out there for everyone, and that initial wave of love won't decrease over time or during challenging times, but instead it will become stronger.

If there is still some value to it like you get along together very well (which woild be kinda strange if you got divorced) then yes. If not then not. I have ppl whom i dont wanna see anymore. Its hard to do it at first but it is always better if you know that in the long term you dont want to have to do anything with that person anymore. Though in my case those were school friends and such. You live and you learn and i like my new surroundings a lot better ;)
My husband shows his love for me in subtle ways. He doesn't give me expensive gifts and stuff like that. He makes a living for us and takes care of our home, he brings me flowers now and then because it makes me smile, he listens to my feelings and tries to help, he tries to make every wish come true that I have, he proudly takes me everywhere he goes, he tries to change behaviors that make me feel bad, there's this smile that he only shows for me, and nobody else. And I'm totally the only one who's criticism he's interested in.
I've had mental health issues for a long time and I've been that kind of person you wouldn't want to have around, but he saw something special in me. He chose to live with me when I was at my worst and helped me get better.

When our daughter was born,hole in lung, in NICU,after emergency Csection, after I got home,was in bed with him,he was so upset our newborn daughter was alone at the hospital, he asked me if I minded that he got up and went to the hospital to visit her. (parents could visit anytime). He went to be with her. Melts my heart thinking about it even though it was 18 years ago now.

Many cases yes but there are guys out there that keeps this! Been married 5 years soon 6 and he does all of these E V E R Y day! I get to choose tv programs because it really doesn't matter much to him as long as he gets to see me happy. He cares for me and protects me first and foremost above every single thing in our lives and we have 100 animals depending on us and our responsibility. I come first, always. When I tell a problem he knows I can probably solve it on my own but he does lay out input that I can use if I wish to. Lastly, we have never spent a night apart and have never argued and that's because we respect each others space and when we communicate we lay out ideas and perspective and find common ground and go for that plan. In disagreements we agree to disagree and drop it because no issue is heavy enough to be worth losing a day's happiness of loving eachother and enjoying each others company. They say love is blind and it's quite true. We both have flaws of course but because of love they don't bother us, they are so small that they don't count and some quirks even feels kinda adorable. :) He strives to keep me safe and happy, I strive to keep the household together when he is away and it just works!

I know these are things a man does when he’s in love, but these are things I routinely do with and for my friends. Just seems these are the right way to behave whether friendship or romance, male or female. If someone attacked a man I was with, I’d fight along side him to subdue the attacker. All these things should be mutual. And though I’d love to be protected by an all powerful, deeply loving man, even he’d be human and need back some of what he gives in time of need. And I’m there for it.
