Thanks a lot for this great tutorial , i’m planning to swap an M57N2 EDC16CP35 from a 335d into a 320d that have an N47 with EDC17 , there will be some repinning on the ecu body connector to match the edc16 as per the wiring diagrams, however will changing the isn and vin will make the engine run ? Or do I need to buy a complete ECU/CAS/Key kit ? (I’m avoiding this solution tbh and only want to swap the ecu)
@@Minorock93 That sounds like a challenge! To change the ECU by ISN number it would first need to have the same length ISN, earlier ECUs had a short ISN & later had long ISN, I’m not totally sure without having the units on the bench but I’m pretty sure EDC16 are short ISN & EDC17 are long, if so then it’s not possible as far as I can say, also they would both need to be manual gearbox variants as Auto boxes also have ISN on later models.. a bit of a can of worms for you I’m afraid, I don’t like advising ECU kits at all but this may be best in your case..
@JC-ECUConnection Thanks a lot for the quick reply and for the precise information, Since there will be a problem adding the long ISN to the EDC16 I think the easiest solution is the entire ECU kit unless there’s another way around, i’m not seeing any 🤔
just coded and program a Bmw f 2017 plate in a car park last month.. without any voltage power suply, Aautel ultra done it succesufull in 1 hour30min , i will not do any from now on without power suply, autel good tool! but need to know what you select on selective update, otherwise will code all car..:)))

@@mikenolan8753 Thanks & good question!.. yes it’s possible, you will need to change the ISN in the donor ECU to match the CAS & you may probably need to change the Powerclass in the CAS to suit, I’m not 100% sure about that & manually change any codings, I think the best tool for that would be NCS Expert & NCS dummy.. good luck!
My DME was water damaged and wouldn’t start. I purchased a used DME, CAS and keys. The car starts and drives now but has problems. What all am I still missing? Before the water damage I had no issues with any codes.

I got the same problem but the car just when i got it about 4 weeks ago it did start i replace the engine harness because it was reap and now it just crank and no start i have to reprogram the computer? I also check everything battery is new alternator is good everything is good it just doest start you think it should be the same problem? Also i check for codes it does not have code

Hi I have a bmw e90 that has had the ecu, cas and speedo replaced and it works fine but obviously the vin is different from the car which shows up on diagnostic. Is it possible to change the vin using Autel or would you be able to do it if I send the ecu and cas to you?

Hey man! I have a 2006 330i I got some code about ignition coils and also the P300 which is random misfire i changed all new ignition coils and spark plugs and still had the same problem my car kept misfiring.I even went on and bout all new O2 sensors crankshaft ,Maf,Map sensors and still nothing.. i got it scanned from someone they said maybe the ecu is damaged and that’s why it isn’t reading it right even after I changed the parts.i need help or a possible fix! id appreciate if you can get back to me

In theory yes, but it may be coded differently - for example the kit may be coded differently for auto / manual gearbox, your VIN number will be wrong & will always flag a fault when you have a diagnostic scan, dealer supplied keys will not work if you ever need to purchase one & the mileage will be different in the CAS & the cluster so this may cause a tamper dot issue. Personally I would avoid being a ‘Scrapyard mechanic’ and send it to us for cloning! www.ecuconnection.co.uk

Hi, it sounds like they tried to program a key to your car to steal it & maybe they have corrupted the flash file in the CAS, if you are lucky it may of just been thrown out of synchronization.. My advice is to contact a good auto-locksmith in your area that is familiar with BMW systems..
Depends what you want to do exactly & what kind of budget, a good start in my opinion is Autel MS909, it’s apx £3000+VAT in the U.K. & is pretty good for all makes, but not a specialist BMW tool…

Hi so basically i had my ecu cloned jue to water damadge after that i got my ecu back took him 25 mins to clone ecilu now my idrive not working no sunroof no heared seats doors work on fob but only wgen i ooen maually then i walk away from car i have to maually open again can you or anybody help
If you have access to the Autel scanner used in this video or similar it wouldn’t hurt to re-code the car to manufacturer spec & maybe software updates - are you sure the guy cloned the ECU or did he fit an ECU kit, if it was the latter then it could be items not coded correctly…

So my ecu was cloned to another I bought with the same codes from Latvia 🇱🇻 the guy ho cloned it it took him 25 mins to clone before I replaced and cloned old ecu to another evertmything was working now hardly anything I had asjmked him and he said waterer was on my ecu he copied and paste to my new ecu I still have Mt original ecu he said to plug it in and if everything works its something else I really don't understand it I don't have and diagnostics also I don't no how to code its just strange that certain things are not working I have sound my cic eject button works thanks
Hi, yes the original was totally dead & not clonable, this type of ECU has a tri-core processor, so what we are showing here is how we can extract the ISN number from the CAS unit & transfer it to the ECU - this is the Immo data, after doing this operation we recommend coding & software update, here we are showing how it can be done with an Autel Diag tool …

@@samgod Yes, car companies have indeed made things complex & difficult to repair modern vehicles.. Thankfully for us the EU has helped enormously - Firstly the rule that forced car manufacturers to fit a standard OBD 16 pin Diag socket enables us to actually plug into a vehicle, also there is the rule on access to vehicle data, without that then we would have to send all jobs to dealership.. It’s not perfect but it helps, hopefully these laws will be renewed when the next review is due, sadly (For obvious reasons) the U.K. no longer has a voice on the subject 😏

You need to first match the ISN, have you done this?

Original ECU is totally dead ? If not - just made an clone ! For what allt his coding, immo, etc

Yes, it should be fine - First change the ISN in DME (Use ISN from CAS unit) then final coding & Software update the DME by OBD.. should work ok!
