OMG man thank you!!!!!! I just spent $1000 and three days fixing up a cheap 328xi I bought and when I go to start it....this happens. I remembered I took those wires loose to do the valve cover and couldn’t remember how they went and had no communication with the ECU with my scan tool. Hooked up the wires like you showed and BOOM BABY! Again thank you thank you!!!!
I dont get why you dont have more suscribers, I actually really like your channel. My car has a similar no start issue, it cranks now but i noticed when i tried to jump start it the front positive terminal post did not spark. Also, blower motor failed and caused a short. Car is currently parked and has a severe power draw, kind of losing my shit trying to figure out how to get it to crank. Your video was the closest ive seen to my exact issue! Please let me know anything you can think of that i can check, i would really appreciate it!
Carlos Reyes my channel is fairly new and I haven’t been uploading as often as I’d like. If no spark at the positive your power distribution block in the engine bay could be fried. I’m not great with electrical. You may need to find someone local to give you a hand. Best of luck!
@@Worldz.n it’s been a few years. I don’t know. I was scanning the car with an OBD reader and the DME wasn’t responding, that’s how I figured there was a problem. Check your ground wires and fuses. There’s a ground wire on the drivers side engine mount and there’s a ground line going to the battery terminal in the engine bay. Think of anything you touched that you might not have put back together right and check it again. Most likely it’s the ground strap.
Bro, in regards to your smoke issue, if it’s not your valve cover gasket leaking, check that your PCV on the valve cover is not busted and working correctly. That problem will lead to all kinds of oil filling into your intake manifold. How did the old manifold look when you removed it? Cheers for the video. Really like your honest video logs.
Asim Khan whelp, it’s been a year since I n54 swapped it and I did the swap because I thought I blew the engine. Turns out the manifold was in fact full of oil.
BMW E91 320D M47. Tried jump starting the car in -26C. Since then ECU has been dead with no communication when scanning for codes. Cant find any bad relays or fuses. Help me, its been over 6 months now since it last started. Fuel pump is constantly going when ignition is turned on as well. Ecu box looks pristine on the inside.
Sometimes when you jump the car (especially if you jump off the battery and not the posts in the engine bay) you can fry the CAS or FRM modules. Try scanning the car and see which modules aren’t responding. You’ll probably have to pull them and take them to someone to get them repaired / cloned. Hope this helps!
@@rackintosh Hey, all modules but DDE works. I'm thinking a wire, ground or hidden fuse anything must have gotten fried when jump boosting a dead battery at -23 C. Very cold and agressive failed cold start.
So I’m getting crank but no start. Swapped the ecu and it cranks but in limp mode. Also says the throttle body is stuck closed and getting no signal. Mass airflow sensor is sending no signal either. New sensor.
Sounds like you need to take your car to a mechanic my friend! I’d check all the fuses and relays. Could be something simple like that. If it’s cranking an no start could be a bad fuel pump controller but hard to say.
I got a similar issue on my 650 2008 model, it suddenly wont start but crancks, and i got DBC active steering inactive and many more on board. What do you think the problem is? Need help bro please?
My friend checked it and he says my ECU wasn’t responding so we called the dealer and they said i could have a dead ecu. Any thoughts? I thought it was just the speed sensors but it wont start so it means there’s other issues sooooo help please 😭

Hey maybe you could point me to the right direction , my radio is having zero power I swapped it out for another radio and nothing . I also checked all fuses under the glove compartment
Is it the radio or the amplifier? If the radio unit doesn’t power on at all you’ve probably missed a fuse. If it’s on but you don’t have sound your amplifier in the trunk could be fried. Best of luck!
my 08 335i sedan is on mhd only no hardwiring. i have crank no start today out of nowhere. cars been fine with no starting issues since ive had it 204k on the clock
hey I was replacing gasket and accidentally hit my ranch to the positive terminal that you replace in the vid it caused a spark when i hit it. Now my car start but shows engine mal reduced power and over time it jerk the car n make hard breathing air noise. should i replace my EMC? I was thinking i fried my emc. 2011 BMW 328i. Thanks
@@1creed Check your relays and fuses. It's possible your battery distribution block has failed, that or the battery terminal in your trunk. Was an airbag set off?
Hey could you help me out ? My car cranks up and drives but it stalls to start and my mechanic said I need to replace the whole ecu . He also doesn’t work on bmw , so he said since he can’t find the electrical problem to just replace the ecu
There’s is a mofset failure common to the n54 ecu. That could be the issue. A quick Google and you hopefully can either find someone in your area who specializes in BMW electronics, or Google n54 mofset repair and find a company that does it. I wouldn’t do it yourself unless you’re extremely good with electronics. End of the day it’s worth finding someone who has the skills to diagnose your car properly
No I would start with other problems like cleaning maf or replacing it then hit coils spark plugs ,there no electrical problem because the car probably just has to be serviced ,then hit ecu last.
FatalNukeZ there are a ton of videos on the PE mod... I’ll be doing something a little different with the wagon. For your car if it’s a coupe then it’ll have an x-pipe in place of a resonator and will pair very nicely with a PE-mod. If you have a sedan or wagon then you’ll have a resonator and you can do a resonator delete which will definitely give you some more tone. I’ve found the PE is great for getting a more aggressive sound without too much drone. Definitely worth the added cost over a muffler delete.
Hey man, so I have the EXACT SAME symptoms. Literally down to the sounds lol. I went to check on that ground strap you showed in this vid and it’s in place. The other main chassis one just replaced with new one. My symptoms are IDENTICAL to yours. So logically I’m deducting that it’s fundamentally the same issue. Just different spot. Where would you look next?
I have the exact problem, just like your car , solved 🎉🎉. Easy fix all you need is a litre fuel and a lighter. Open the hood pour the fuel on top of the engine step half a meter away and light it up . Now move away quick and watch your problems burn away that easy . Get a Japanese car trust me you will not be watching TH-cam how to fix this and that .

Is the moral of issue. Is it the ECU adaptor?
It was a misplaced ground strap.

Find someone who’s good at diagnosing electrical. Or don’t buy it.
Ya the only way ur ecu will burn out is when u have jdm moding or stuff like that
Usually its fuses or the battery disturbion box on battery

Electrical is difficult to diagnose! Honestly, I'd pull codes and see if you can find an independent tech in your area to diagnose the problem.
When your ecu was playing dead, was half the fuse box still live?
Yes, turns out it was just a misplaced ground cable. Try checking all your cables, if that doesn't help then look at fuses and relays

Can't recall, though the ECU wasn't responding when I'd go to scan codes. Likely because the primary ground for it wasn't connected.
