    The best way to determine which one you like best is to try them in store. For me, I found the hattefjall most comfortable and ended up buying it. The adjustable seat and the height adjustable back is what makes this perfect for me. The harder seat cushion feels like it provides me more support yet is not uncomfortable. The auto-adjustable design sets the right amount of resistance (for me). Also, it looks and feels the most well made.

    • @ZERO-oo7mn

      Same, but I wish the back could be locked into a position other than bolt upright. The auto feature doesn't provide anywhere near enough resistence for me.

I'll be sticking with my trusty old Markus for now, until a really comfortable chair comes along. The maximum tilt angle looks the same on both, which is not enough for me; though maybe with the seat tilt on the new one it will have a better effect.

      @TRD_Mike 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hailgod1 To be honest, right now I'm considering returning it. I'm 5'11 230lbs. The chair itself is really comfortable. I really like the high back so I can lean all the way back and the headrest is comfortable. The major deal breaker is the arm rests. The height is fine, but because their mounted so far up towards the front of the chair, they push into the side of my legs when sitting. It forces you to sit with your legs in a more closed position. Personally I like sitting more with my legs spread and feet wider apart. After about a half hour sitting in the chair my legs hurt from the armrests digging in, and then I have to consciously make sure I have to sit with my legs closed. Removing the arm rests might be an option for you, but personally I use them all the time and can't take them off. Will probably return the chair and buy a 2nd hand Steelcase Leap.

    I just picked out a Markus completely at random, before seeing this video and after reviewing your other video about best posture while sitting. I guess I'm fortunate for being a bit of a tall person with longer arms and legs since that made it pretty much perfect for me. But yeah...I can see how it'd be an issue for smaller folks. And agreed on the foam - easily the best of any other and made me completely forget leather.

    I'm a Marcus user for over a year now and since the beginning I thought the armrests were a dealbreaker. I removed those within 10 minutes of assembly because they prevented me from getting close enough to my desk without having to lower the chair which I didn't want to do to stay in ergonomic working position. Everything else about the chair is great for me. Depth is just right and so is the height of the headrest and the stiffness of the back mesh. If they made adjustable armrests for it it will be perfect for me.

      I've got the leather version and my ass keeps sliding off the seat, and I do miss the handles to push myself back.
      And after 3 years the dampner occasionally just falls down, need to contact IKEA for this. And something is squacking when I lean really far back, but I just saw that it's a simple lube fix.

    First time I heard the Markus has soft-ish or in any case malleable (because people are triggered by "soft" for poser reasons) and comfortable seat cushion. If I had known that before... Because this and the low, unadjustable armrests, followed by the low lumbar support, were the main reasons for me never quite making the jump, although I probably would have been much happier with it than with other trash. I had always heard that it was super-hard, but the direct comparison says a lot.

    I found Markus lumbar is much more comfortable and softer than JArv. But I hated how hard it is to recline. It require so much strength to push it back,then I have to lean forward to access to the lock so it basically doesn’t work.
    So for the Jarv I like how I can effortlessly lean back a bit but not too much while have the chair tucked in to allow my body close to the table. But I don’t feel much of the lumbar support and it’s hard I would put a think cushion inbetween. The Hat chair more comfortable than I expected, looks good only thing is missing a head support which I wanted other wise it felt quite supported to have back to back to the chair while tuck close to the table.
    Buuut IKEA lack of stock for god knows how long I don’t know when I’ll be able to get the Jarv chair

Then I watched this video many times over - even when testing the chair right on the spot for the second time :-). Please accept my thanks for doing such valuable and informative videos. As I am 189 cm tall (6ft 3in), Markus fits me perfectly and infinitely better than literally tens of chairs I tried at six specialist furniture stores within the past week (with prices ranging from 200 to 600 USD). Here in the Czech Republic, Markus is favourably priced (3490 CZK/152 USD based on today’s conversion rate) and they provide a 99 CZK/5 USD delivery up to 50 kg per single item (I do not drive). Not that I do not contemplate a Herman Miller chair but for now I am very happy.

    I spent 2 hours at my IKEA sitting in Markus and Järvjellet. And I was so disappointed.. The Järvjellet has great features, and the backrest with lumbar support and headrest are awesome fo my 186 cm. But that seat is just horrible. Its not only way to short for anyone over 180 cm, but it also is such a thin foam that you basically sit on the wood after just 5 mins. SO I got the Markus and although I don't really like the headrest, as it should better be a neckrest, but pushes your head forward uncomfortably, the seat feels great and the reclinement is pretty good for its price...
    I just don't get why they couldn't make the Järv a bit better cushioned and give it a tad longer seat, than it would be perfetc for so many people. Such a missed opportunity imo!
