I agree with you about the trend to put form over function. As a person who suffers from back pain, I find that most modern sofas are unusable because the backs are so low that they offer no support at all.

@@Hopischwopi Honestly, just buy office chair. Ofc these cost a bit, but basic chair that businesses use are usually pretty good since they need to fulfill ergonomic requirements. These are usually also pretty durable since it makes sense to buy good chairs so they don't have to replace them often.
If you are fine with used ones, you might even get them for very little somewhere as businesses move or go bankrupt.

I have had Ivar shelves for over 30 years (including cabinets, and I am gutted they have changed the cabinet type, instead of just adding a new cabinet type). Still 100% happy. Of course, unlike with Billy, you have to organise the books so they do not fall, but they can be dismantled and re-mounted...Moved 6 times since buying them.

Thank you for the information in here 😃 I'm setting up a home office from scratch, so I went to Ikea today and got the Lack shelves in oak and the Kolon clear mat/floor protector that goes under the desk (that floor protector is cheaper than anywhere else that I've been able to find, and it's good quality). Not specific to this table but I also quite like the idea of having a deliberate 'hole' or cut-out on a table - one such idea I came across was a square hole cut-out within a cement coffee table which would be later re-purpose for placement of table lamp, or plant, or even a natural ice bucket for entertainment purposes.

Shopping at IKEA as at even high end stores we really need to look into the details of the item. When we can't find a cover for the chair we can go online such as Comfort Works. I also ordered covers from the UK. I have some IKEA furniture that has lasted 15 years. When we understand how it is created we can figure out how to give them longer life. I also have some of their lamps and artwork that have sold for more than I paid. I also appreciate being able to switch out legs to change the style. I've had a Tylosand sleeper for many years and have adjusted the design to fit into three different households. Still super comfy and a great sleeper.

Like Bank Office for a carpet (too swank for a bank, imho), or farts (Pruta) for tupperware? A few chairs, roughly translated to 'forest living'. It's all kinds of awesome. I've been an Ikea fan for years and love the design of the PAX system, but it was the most hellish shopping experience of my life. They frequently lied about availability, everything is out of stock, overcharged, charged for shipping that was free, I had to wait in line behind 25 people in store, their computer systems were down, their printers were down, their system said items were in stock and weren't and it took 5 employees 50 minutes to figure that out. Highly discommend PAX until they figure this out, and Ikea as a whole at this point.

I am very glad with my Baltsar chairs because you can spin the seat to sit down without moving the chair

IKEA turns a profit with food. It's one of the biggest fast food chains in the world. The furniture is just the vehicle to get people into the store and consume everything food related :D

the glass cover over the drawer is for tracing things. Just turning on the mobile phone flashlight and put it in with the flashlight facing up. Then you're all set to trace.

they changed the bergmund chair and they took away a lot of the slip cover options that were actually better. they also went cheap and made it with less padding so it is even more uncomfortable but upped the price.

What I will say as a consumer is to do your product research. You can get a dining chair from ikea that u have to assemble and will likely wigle for $150 or a corner blocked heirloom chair from a brand like arhaus (during their store wide sale in Jan or sep) research research research !!

Lisabo is stunning, isnt it? I just can't get over that table. I also wonder what are your opinions on sofas such as landskrona, bastubo/bennebol. Do you think they will be a good purchase in a long run regarding pricing, storing and durability?

The glass draw is perfect for my ADHD, I can put key items in there and see they are there. At present these things clutter my desk and get in my way.

Do you have any tips for a kitchen backsplash for someone who is renting and doesn't want to use tiles? The kitchen walls are completely bare and don't have anything at the moment... I would be happy to hear your thoughts :)

    Noice.
The klinten chair has a very tilted backrest as well which makes sitting at a dining table impossible. Lounging on it is great, but sitting upright is not possible. I am about to return mine because of that.

I agree with most of your picks but not the lamps. Too modern for my taste. I enjoy your videos. Glad you finally moved into a bigger space.

Well a drawer to look into would be perfect for me or rather my adhd brain to put stuff in so I can still see but not have it around ontop of my desk the whole time. It would free up space and yes the clutter would still be visible but overall the desk would look less cluttered.

I must disagree with the generic "sofabeds are bad" comment. When I lived in a tiny apartment I had a sofabed from IKEA and it was one of the most comfortable sofas ever. As a bed it was meh, but it worked for me when I had guests. (If the guests were elderly I used the sofa and they got the bed)

Hard disagree on the "sofa beds are bad at both parts" to be honest. Living in a small apartment in a place where we get a lot of friends visiting from out of town, the Friheten couch has been life changing. Not worth its current jacked up price, but so many are for sale - it's a comfortable enough couch with few drawbacks. Multiple people have said it's super comfortable to sleep on, and it even has huge storage in the "L" piece. No regrets at all from me :)
PS, good job with the product names this time! I don't know why they keep doing this to foreigners haha

As an Ikea lover and huge fan of Daniel, the only recommendation that I disagree with has got to be the Markus desk chair (at least if you're 6 feet or above). I bought it last year as an upgrade from a wooden kitchen chair and only kept it for about 6 months. The top of the headrest only came up to the bottom of my head, lumbar support was hitting my mid-back, and the seat of the chair was too short for my legs. It's a shame because I think it looks visually great for the price, but the long-term performance just wasn't there for me.
But please take my feedback with a grain of salt, and make sure to try it in-store to see if it works well with your height. If I had to rewind and pick again, I would either save up to get the chair that I eventually settled on, or would've preferred the Langfjall.
