These reviews are so good. They're completely unbiased and do a proper review with all the negatives as well as the pro's. Any advertising of their store is subtle and you know what, I'm going to buy my Sonos Arc from these chaps just because the quality of what I've watching from their channel this evening. I did the same with the Beam+two Symfonisk bookshelf rear surrounds. I added the Gen 3 Sub about a year later and WTF! It was like an entirely new system with the sub. I'll say stick with the rear surrounds if you just watch cable TV or shows with mostly dialogue (crime show, game shows, news, reality TV, etc...). You need the sub if you like action movies, special effect movies, or Sci-fi.

I paired this sub with my stereo Sonos fives. I wasn’t sure what to expect and wasn’t sure if it would be overkill, as some people have been commenting. It’s true that the fives already have an impressive bass. However, with the added sub, I really notice an omnidirectional sound to before, which I really love. Personally, I’m really happy with this combination.

I have the two fives as well! I just bought the arc to pair with them using them as rears. But I don’t feel it uses the fives as much as I would like. I am watching this video to decide if I should go back and switch the arc for the sub paid with my fives and now I will!! Thank you.

Question: In the video you show the Sub against walls and bookcases. Is it better that way or further out from the wall to avoid boom? I put mine in a corner with the small side close to one wall and the open side about 20 inches from the other. I haven't experimented as that made sense to me but I'd be interested in your opinion.

Hi, and many thanks for your very enjoyable reviews. You said the Sub does not pair with the Move, however if I were to invest in an Arc + Sub combo in my living room, started listening to a tune and that I wanted to extend the sound to my garden where I do have a Move, would it still be possible to use all 3 in unison?

I disagree with the idea of not pairing the sub with a pair of Sonos 5s. I did just that and my music listening experience went up several notches. Initially I was hesitant to make the investment and thought I might wind up returning it but within 30 minutes I knew the Sonos Sub wasn't going anywhere. And the room where the Sonos system resides isn't that big, it's a first floor bedroom where during the summer time I seek respite from the heat.
The Sonos sub made such a big impression on me that I realized the sub I had been using in my home theater area was garbage. Since then I have upgraded to a Rel Acoustics S/812 sub and one word describes it - WOW. Pricey, but also the kind of equipment that you just might wind up taking to the grave. High quality speaker components are good that way - don't readily go the way of the dodo (unlike most other tech).

Thanks for a great and honest review. In my current setup I have two Sonos Play 1. I also have a Sonos Play 5 (Gen 1). The Play 5 is however not S2 compatible and thus eligable for a Sonos trade up giving me 30% discount on a single speaker or a bundled package. In my case I'm considering upgrading my living room with a set consisting of Sub + Beam. Combined with my pair of Sonos Play 1 I think I'll get a great music and cinema experience.

Why dont you talk about Trueplay? I have 19 Sonos products throughout my house and Trueplay is really important if you care about the sound. I have placed a single One on the wall in my bathrooms and after Trueplay they sound amazing- before that boomy and muddy. Trueplay on a home cinema setup is really important because it tunes the timings as well as the frequency response. Having removed the installation related frequency resonances makes it sound like you just spent a LOT more money.

I wonder what the difference would be between this and a beam against the like of the newer JBL 5.1 multibeam set up....well apart from the near £600 difference in price being the obvious one. I'm put off Sonos due to not using apple phones as this seems to make a big difference in user experience... And the app on the Google store gets a terrible rating with a lot of people saying at times they can't even use their Sonos equipment unless it's Spotify. They should have included Bluetooth just for backup....hence why I'm thinking the JBL as it's got Chromecast built in for streaming and also Bluetooth for backup.

The Gen 3 Sub is an awesome beast. I'm running it with the Sonos Ones as rears and a Sonos amp powering some gen 1 Klipsch RP-600Ms.
That setup doesn't support atmos but it's awesome for movie night, classic rock music and gaming.

Quick question for anyone out there:
I currently have a Sonos amp driving a set of Dali Oberon 5s. Will the sub compliment this set-up, or will my money be better spent on surrounds? The Oberons have great bass, but don’t seem to be as good at lower volumes.
    Any thoughts…….?

The software will not allow you to connect the Move directly to the sub. You can add the Move into an existing Sonos system like Beam+two One SLs+Gen 3 Sub Home Theater with the Move added as in a whole house audio with the Move in the same room.
