Smart Home Sounds Ltd. Got mine yesterday, 10 June. Was super easy to replace the Beam. First upgrade to the new Sonos Controller 2. Setting up, grouping and updating was all a breeze. Oddly, it seemed to sound better after I had it running a while, but I think it's a subjective personal aural adjustment. Not all content is Atmos but playback is superb. The phase array on the Sub and Arc worked well, and my two added Sonos Ones SL completed the immersive experience. Yup, connected it via the ARC HDMI on the LG, but not the eArc.
I saw a couple of reviews (many where just "ads" and some like this video went a little deeper) since it was impossible to go at a store and play before buying it. I finally decided to buy it and replace my 6 years old polk audio soundbar and subwoofer. At first I was worried that I had to buy the subwoofer at the same time (because of the price tag of course) but after setting all up and playing with it a little bit, I was mind-blowed by the bass quality. One important thing that many videos and reviews don't talk about it is that if you have a tv that doesn't support arc or earc you have to make sure that your tv is capable of doing pass-through and that your tv is dolby capable. Other important thing and a lot of people does the same mistake as I did, when buying surround systems PLEASE make sure that all your devices have the proper configuration, as for example I had to change the sound settings on my Apple TV 4th Gen to dobly 5.1 and face the problem that my sonos arc was receiving stereo only (my soundbar is connected with the optical adapter) . After digging online I finally discovered that my old Samsung tv need to have a 5.1 content playing so the dolby option becomes available to select it. I have watch a couple of movies from Netflix and Disney + and the sound after those changes is amazing, unfortunately since my tv is old I won't be able to test any atmos content. Keep in mind that if your using streaming apps not all of them give you 5.1 audio. Overall I'm satisfied by the product and can't wait to replace my tv and purchase the subwoofer to get a complete experience.
I bought my sonos arc/sub/surrounds home cinema setup from this company after seeing all their great reviews and visiting their showroom for a demo. After sales great as well. After having investigated at length sonos v AV separates, I am very pleased with the set up, its simplicity and the way I can play music throughout the house....and even listen to film audio in the kitchen whilst I'm tidying up or replenishing drinks, without having to hit pause. Atmos works reasonably well, but the surrounds (ones) make the real difference. My only negative is that I would prefer greater front left/right separation...you can hear sound moving across the sound stage, but i would like this to be bigger as it would be with AV separates. Now if sonos enabled the ability to add a couple of Ones as left/right channels, i would be in home cinema heaven.
I watch a lot of reviews and this reviewer is on point. Gets through a lot of information fast, but not too fast. Is pleasant, but not overbearingly personable. Knowledgeable, but not annoyingly so. Keep making videos bro. Ps. Imma get the arc now
its definitely worth the money ..if u want the best sound from the arc you definitely need to get the sub, surrounds ..I have the full system and its amazing! but pricey..
Amazing review mate. I have just bought a c9 with eARC and got the old 5.1 set up with playbar. Didn’t realise I was in the market for replacing my sound bar but seemingly I am. Thanks for clearing up the ability to use the old sub and one play ones with this new sound bar. Kudos to you!

@David Mander i own a 7.2 surround sound system that i spent years procuring, but i currently live in a condo where all that sound and base isn't necessary. My Sonos is perfect for my current arrangement. I have no complaints.
Great review and thanks! The visual comparisons between all three and detailed specs are really useful. Having bought the Beam at the end of last year ; I have to say I was massively underwhelmed by the soundstage and considering the expectations around Sonos was disappointed. I have what I thought was a ‘small’ living room. Prob around or just under the 4x4m. The sound from the beam is crisp and clear with good volume. But it does lack the deeper rich base on its own. I paired it with the Sonos Ones as rears but just couldn’t face the extreme price difference to stretch to the sub. However this is where it falls down. The channel separation is just too narrow on the beam and this issue is amplified by the greater separation on the rears by comparison. It feels like a single speaker at the front. Like a centre speaker in a 5.1. But is so crisp and clear that you get almost no background noise in scenes with dialogue. As a result the ‘atmosphere’ of a scene is lost and it just misses that overall enveloping experience. So for me I cannot wait for the Arc. I wish it had been announced with the beam because it would have saved me a fortune. I’m not sure if that’s clever marketing or a kick in the nuts by Sonos but hey ho!
That thing about the beam is true. It really sounds very centered and this even more pronounced when adding rears. Had the same situation before I replaced the beam with the old playbar. The beam however is now being used by my parents and they love it :)
Atmos is practically everywhere and is easily far more prevailant than DTS X, same goes for HDR, with Dolby vision being the more preferred option over HDR 10+, etc. Besides just the standard HDR format. It's just a great universal standard and I'd definitely say yes 100% go for something that supports this. I wish the options were more eclectic on Sonos' end, but again, you'll find it easier counting what doesn't support atmos rather than what does and there's a degree of conversion that happens when it detects an atmos-esk signal.
Great review, good level of detail and well presented . 2 Issues for me . lack of native source of Atmos content and after listening I feel that the Bass is lacking but probably a deliberate move by Sonos to sell more subs.

I do think there is one more thing to consider between the ARC and Beam which is the release dates. There is a couple years between those so maybe at this point the ARC is a little more future proof too.
A really, really excellent review. Just bought a sonos beam but now feel I should upgrade to the arc given that I have a 65 inch Samsung Q80t. Also I have the beam in a room with 20 ft ceilings. Please give me your opinion on whether or not I would hear a noticeable difference if I upgrade. I also should mention that I listen regularly to concert blue rays from various rock bands. Thank you
Same here, I have a beam with a sub and 2 Play ones and it’s more than enough for my room, it’s a medium sized room and I constantly find myself turning the volume down
I bought one of these as a temporary measure until I got round to building a new media centre in the lounge for my amp and surround set-up, I was so impressed I decided to keep it and will probably pair with some satellite speakers. Yes, it's not high end audiophile grade but its a brilliant alternative to mid range set-ups. My only issue is lack of HDMI ports.
Great review I just got a new Samsung 82 inch qled and don't know if I should get the Samsung q90r soundbar or this is it better to keep it all Samsung?
Great review. I'm completely stoked to get my Arc once they start shipping. I've got at least a Sonos One in each room and a 5.1 surround setup with the Beam/Sub/2x Sonos One in the living room. It's quite nice, but Dolby Atmos support makes this a 'must' upgrade for me.
I wish you had mentioned the mounting options. One of the things I love about the Playbar is that you can mount it above OR below your TV. The Arc doesn't seem to have that option due to the layout of the drivers, but it would have been good to touch on it.

“Dolby atmos, Dolby atmos, Dolby atmos.” Unfortunately, the Sonos Arc does not support any DTS formats, which about half of my content consists of. I wish they would have highlighted that DTS isn’t supported in this video to inform potential customers. I’m surprised DTS isn’t supported, considering it’s such a high-end product. I love my Samsung HW-Q90R. Fully supports Atmos and DTS-X with amazing surround/object-based sound and with zero issues.
Great overview! Thanks so much. Quick question-if money was not an issue and I had a room about 4 meters by 5 meters would you recommend arc or beam? If money wasn’t an issue is the arc that much better for a smaller room? I realize the arc has atmos capability but let’s say that doesn’t matter for me. Thanks!
Quality review. Lots of detail. Sold on the arc. Suggestion, not sure if it's just me, but I feel the 'performance' bit could have come first (circa 15 min mark) before the detailed technical bits.

Excellent review thank you. Pre ordered a white Ark with yourselves so I'm looking forward to receiving it! Unfortunately only have a Sony 55HX853 from 2012 so likely be that all I can receive is Dolby Digital and not even Dolby Digital Plus. Still, an upgrade over the Beam I currently have with Ones and the Sub 😁
This was an excellent review! Well-done. One weakness I would add to this soundbar for future reviews is the height of the soundbar as it may obstruct some of the tv. Some newer tv's have adjustable height legs but not too many I believe. Again, a superior review. Thank you.
Yes I agree about the height, just bought a beam a few months ago to add to my existing pair of play ones and have only just wall mounted my tv to sit a few millimetres above the beam on an adjustable mount. The Arc is slightly higher than the beam so would have to move my tv stand (no thanks) so think I will buy the sub to add to system. Great review as always though 👍👍👍

it's a bit pricey but it's worth every penny it's the best soundbar I have ever owned great video

It’s worth checking the Samsung website as some HDMI Arc TV’s do to pass Dolby Atmos so eArc is not needed.

“Dolby atmos, Dolby atmos, Dolby atmos.” Unfortunately, the Sonos Arc does not support any DTS formats, which about half of my content consists of. I wish they would have highlighted that DTS isn’t supported in this video to inform potential customers. I’m surprised DTS isn’t supported, considering it’s such a high-end product. I love my Samsung HW-Q90R. Fully supports Atmos and DTS-X with amazing surround/object-based sound and with zero issues.
Can you please explain? I'm thinking about buying this for my home cinema system. Will it not support content that isn't Dolby Atmos?
Great overview! Thanks so much. Quick question-if money was not an issue and I had a room about 4 meters by 5 meters would you recommend arc or beam? If money wasn’t an issue is the arc that much better for a smaller room? I realize the arc has atmos capability but let’s say that doesn’t matter for me. Thanks!

Quality review. Lots of detail. Sold on the arc. Suggestion, not sure if it's just me, but I feel the 'performance' bit could have come first (circa 15 min mark) before the detailed technical bits.

Excellent review thank you. Pre ordered a white Ark with yourselves so I'm looking forward to receiving it! Unfortunately only have a Sony 55HX853 from 2012 so likely be that all I can receive is Dolby Digital and not even Dolby Digital Plus. Still, an upgrade over the Beam I currently have with Ones and the Sub 😁

This was an excellent review! Well-done. One weakness I would add to this soundbar for future reviews is the height of the soundbar as it may obstruct some of the tv. Some newer tv's have adjustable height legs but not too many I believe. Again, a superior review. Thank you.
Yes I agree about the height, just bought a beam a few months ago to add to my existing pair of play ones and have only just wall mounted my tv to sit a few millimetres above the beam on an adjustable mount. The Arc is slightly higher than the beam so would have to move my tv stand (no thanks) so think I will buy the sub to add to system.
