Homeboy broke out the thesaurus on this review! Great video, I just purchased the Arc a couple weeks ago. Now saving up for the sub and 2 of the One SL's... Can't wait!
I started with Beam Gen 1+two Symfonisk bookshelf speakers. Later added the Gen 3 sub once I saved up. The sound differences was very noticeable and greatly improved with the Gen 3 sub. Added the Beam Gen 1+Symfonisk rears+Gen 3 sub to master bedroom and the Arc+two Gen 3 subs+ two Fives to main TV room.
Great review - esp re: the detail going into those of us who are longtime Sonos users. I have (and love) the Sonos 1s and a Playbase. Hoping the prioritization you talked about is very applicable to the Base - even though it may not be as much as it is to the newest Arch, etc. I've never owned a sub before, but just ordered the Gen 3 and it should be in mid-December.. Keep up the awesome vids!
Thanks for the view and comment! You won't regret the Sub purchase! It'll really make a big difference to the sound profile! Hope you consider subscribing! thanks again.
Just ordered mine to go with recently purchased Arc and 2 one SLs. Felt that bass was not as good as expected so looking forward to adding this. Great video btw 👍🏻
I've been reading lots of complaints on Sonos official forums regarding humming and crackling issues with the Sub Gen 3. Customers are getting successive replacements, to end up with the same issue. From Sonos support, there was a claim that a recent hardware revision had it solved, but it seems customers getting it still complain, Did you noticed anything?
I have four Sonos Gen 3 Subs and haven't heard any humming and crackling issues. My first Gen 3 Sub was purchased back in 2021 with zero issues. I do have my Sonos system wired and that does set up a separate Sonos wi-fi network (you just need to connect on soundbar or speaker for it to work).
I've never gone much higher than +2 for the bass, but our room dimensions may be drastically different. I would start at 0 and see how you like the thump, and go from there. Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
@@DadTecc Hi , hope you are fine and also hope you can help me. I got a sub for my par of S, ones. The bass Is extremely deep, i need to put de crossover point higher. It hears like they where cut in 70 -80 hz. Most music hears like "hollow" i mean the midbass Is not present un the sistem, any recomendation friend ??? Thanks un Advance.
Never got the big deal with people bashing glossy white things. White generally draws less attention to fingerprints anyway and gloss is as simple as a discrete no fuss wipe. I mean, yeah, maybe matte would fair better for white, albeit more susceptible to aesthetic damage, but I can't say the same for glossy black and especially not matte black, as they take on a greasy look opposed to a smudged look and don't clean up the same, with gloss black obviously being the worst for scratches and smudges. The point is you obviously aren't going to move these things that much for fingerprints to be an issue.
Completely agree! Some people associate black with "sleek," but from a practicality standpoint you're 100% right, sometimes it's more trouble than it's worth. Thanks for the view and comment!
I am looking at getting the white Sub Gen 3, Beam, with surround speakers! Which way is the Sub Gen 3 meant to face? It looks different in every picture and video I've come across.
What EQ settings would you recommend for an Sonos Arc and Sub Gen 3 paired together? Or better yet what EQ settings are you using now? Awesome review it made me get the Sub!
Since these bad boys thump so loudly, I try to keep my treble at +3 and my bass at +1...I've tried +2 and honestly, it's just a bit too much for me, but again, to acoustics of your room play a big part, so don't be afraid to tweak it to your preference. I appreciate the view and comment! Hope you subscribe! Thanks!
@@DadTecc awesome work! I try out these settings I just wished my room setup is a closed off square but it's I'm a open living room with stairs and a kitchen so the atmos effect would likely get lost but I try out these settings!
Are you planning on getting some surrounds? Those will definitely help with a more oddly shaped room. I have a video coming up comparing the One SLs and the Symfonisk as surrounds that will definitely help.
@@DadTecc No surrounds and probably won't end up getting them but something tells me after i see this video i will likely have to get them but i like my bed very much and not being delegated to sleep on the couch haha
But was she impressed with the sound?? 😀 My wife also doesn't appreciate the heights I'm trying to reach with great home theater sound! Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
Honestly, I haven't had cable in a couple of years, so I couldn't tell you definitively. Most systems have a way to compensate for that latency. Thanks for the view and comment! Hope you subscribe!
No I wouldn't, this is the price of trying to do things to make it look good on video. Realistically, you would want to place the sub somewhere in close proximity to where you're going to be watching so you get the full effect. The cool part about the Sonos sub is that you can orient it flat l, so you can stick it under the couch if you wanted to. Thanks for the view and comment!
From a frequency standpoint, on paper, the Sonos sub wins out, but there is a tonality difference that you need to be aware of. The JBL has bit more of a "punchier" bass if that makes sense. I appreciate the view and comment! thanks!
@@DadTecc punchier, but can jbl go lower or equal ,or the sonos sub in real life goes deeper than jbl? Because i have tested both jbl 3.1 and bose acoustimass 700, side by side,on the same songs,in same conditiona, same room, and...i gind that both was equal. I didn't find any difference. And,man...that bose costs around 600-700 euros, and my 3.1 costs me 250 euros :)))
@@DadTecc I have the same problem as BHIS, just received mine today. Apparently this is a known issue with the new Gen3 sub, although not made official by Sonos. I will probably return the product, unfortunately.

Hi im looking to setup my first home theater sound system... Going to get a Sony TV, is it better to get the Sony soundbar and sub with dolby atmos than the sonos playbar and sub without Dolby atmos supported?
Which Sony soundbar were you looking at? I definitely think there are good, alternative options out there. And if you're budget conscious and aren't as discerning about the sound, or you don't have a huge room, the cheaper alternatives are a good substitute. The Sonos ecosystem is amazing, but $1400 can be prohibitive.
