You absolutely have the best and well explained step by step detail on everything I have needed help on with my OMC vintage outboards.a sincere thank you.
T-Mike, I really like your location and home shop set-up. The inside of your shop looks comfy and cozy to me. I wish I had the room to expand from my 2-car garage shop. I don't have enough room here in the City...
Really enjoying "binge watching" your videos. Can you do one on the various "best match" available paints for these OMCs through the years. I have a 54 Evinrude 7.5 Aqua-sonic, a 65 Evinrude Angler and a 69 Evinrude 9.5 I'd like to do the cosmetics to now that I've retired. Seems like Evinrude especially changed the paints quite often.
T Mike. You already answered many of my questions. I’ve done much spray painting and have used this accessory that really improves control and reduces hand fatigue. You might want to give it a try. Rust-Oleum 241526 Comfort Grip Thank you.
Working on a 57 johnson 35. i'm just too cheap and cant convince myself to buy reproduction '57 paint from Vintage Outboard Paint and cant find an alternative in aerosol thats a close match. any ideas for a paintmatch for a 57?
Began the sanding process yesterday and have a couple of bare metal spots and feel that I should use a Rustoleum primer (Rust-Oleum Stops Rust 12 oz. Flat White Clean Metal Primer Spray) before I begin the painting. What’s you opinion on that. I’m not opposed to the extra work and want a quality result. Thank you.
Very nice work. What colors do you use for a 1958 Evinrude 10 hp, thought I saw one in the background. Can the decal folks do the medallion as well, I have one missing.
I thought so too. What scares me is how many times something can go wrong and negate any benefit from the 3 times and sand every time. If u got it good one time, do it all at once. Lose two more chances to fuck it up. Paint changes over time, cure times vary. Doing 3 times seems self sabotaging unless you have a paint shop, no kids, dogs, or dusty driveways. Limit exposure. It probably looks better the 3 times, until it don't.
My hero `cher.. big fan * 10hp rude on a 7.5 fleetwin lower unit /? will it fit ? work ..?/.. sorry for the ?`s.. but I`m about to buy a 10hp this wknd !.. I have 1 complete 7.5 and 1 in boxes' ;).. will the lower unit fit ? Peace ~
T-Mike, what is the best way to plug the holes used to attach plastic decals/ornaments on the cowing? Would Bon do be ok? Thanks in advance and really like your videos, Mes Ami!
You used the wrong colors on that hood it should have been painted holiday bronze and cream. And they made a holiday bronze for each year 1956,1957,1958. Each holiday bronze was just a shade different from each other. That is the proper colors

Thank you.
Great video mr T mike, I would like to see you do a video on how to replace the water tube grommet, on a 1956 thru 1958 15 or 18 Johnson.
T Mike, do you ever shoot clear coat over the finished hood? Beautiful job.
Tried clear coat and did not like it. The paint I use is gloss enamel which looks like clear coat.

I don’t use primer but surely it can’t hurt. Good luck. Enjoy
Oh and of course A comment for the algorithm

Reproduction medallions can be purchased from nymarine.ca. I bought one for my ‘57-18 Johnson and was very happy with it.
@@georgekeats1478 Thank you, will check it out.
Ordered them today.
@@nazmen040 I think you will like it. I have a video of it on TH-cam of me and my son applying it to our ‘57-18 Johnson
to simplify paint it no sanding between coats.
Clear paint whole thing wet sand and polish

Yes. Any filler for fiberglass would work fine
I am sure he has given it much thought before he heard this argument for the millionth time 20 plus years ago.
virtue or doing it right
