I was really hoping you were going to paint it red again because I wanted to see how you were going to make the lettering white on a clear sheet. Where did you find the parts to rebuild this? I have a Yamaha 6.3 gallon metal tank that has fittings for an Evinrude / Johnson 35 hp outboard. Can't find a rebuild kit ANYWHERE!
Good job 👍🏻. From a marine point of view, it has to be reddish orange to clarify that it contains a flammable liquid. Please redo it if you’re going to use it as a fuel container.
Thank you! Some of the powders they sell do not coat evenly. Red, yellow are bad. Black, blue and the other colours are good. I threw the yellow away, it's that bad.
@@AJRestoration thanks for the feedback. I use powdercoat as an alternative to lubricating cast bullets and had only tried their red and yellow which were hopeless. Will give the darker colours a try.
Great resto. You did not show the inside of the tank if it was rusty. If it was, how would you suggest to clean the inside? I also presume you made your own gaskets. Did you use a piece of inner tube for the gas cap? Thanks

There is an autobody technique you should learn. It's called guide coating. AFTER your initial boy filler/sanding, just mist the entire piece with cheap enamel spry paint. The very lightest mist you can manage. You MUST use a flat sanding block. A real one. Not a 2" X 2" scrap of sand paper with two fingers. A flat block is the only way to hit only the high spots and none of the low spots. Once the guide coat is fully dry, lightly go over the piece with the sanding block. You're trying to skip over the low spots and dents. Stop. You have found the dents and low spots. Fill again with body filler an re-block. This way, you find all the dents.
Interesting how they put Empty & Full in opposite reading directions …… as if you had to turn the tank around to work out how much fuel you had ….. duh!!
