Thank you. My 15 year old washer started doing this the other day. Was all set to go buy a new one... wife showed me your video. Decided to drop $30 in parts and 30 minutes of time and now washer works fine. Thanks dude, you saved me some bucks.

Thank you!! I ordered the $15 part but was bracing myself for the possibility of having to pay for a repair or buying a new washing machine. The part came, it was super easy to install, and most importantly the machine works again!!!

I have a 17yro washer and dryer set almost that exact model and have repaired almost everything on them from videos like yours. Now the washer won’t always spin after a cycle but will spin on spin cycle. I’ll take these parts apart to see if a new motor will be the fix. Thank you for this - you’re saving many of us the need to get washers! 🙌

Thank you very much for your video. Replacing the door switch fixed my problem. My washer wasn't draining and wouldn't enter the final spin. Unfortunately, most of the videos out there suggest cleaning out the coin catcher, so that's what I did first. Wasn't easy... spent a lot of time pulling the machine apart, only to find that my coin catcher wasn't clogged up. Your expertise and video solved my problem and I am very grateful. You saved me a lot of time and money, therefore I sent you a donation out of gratitude. Thanks again!

Thanks for this! I didn't think it was the issue as the door actually locked properly and everything seemed to function as expected except it wouldn't do the fast spin. As a hail Mary I ordered the door lock mechanism and replaced it as per your instruction and it worked!! I couldn't believe it! I spent $30 instead of $1000 on a new washer. Thanks again!

Scott the Fixit Guy you are awesome. I was on the path to pushing my Samsung Front Loader off the back of a trailer at high speed after it left me in a very tight spot with a load of wet clothes and wouldn't spin. I have also been through the Samsung Spider Arm replacement repair and I'm sure you know what a fun task that is. Anyway, your video did the job. Thanks so much for the time you took to disassemble and explain the door lock and wax motor assembly. Thanks also for displaying motor only replacement. So I have a front-loading Kenmore washer, and the controller board does this resistance test on those door latch contacts. My wax motor worked fine, the fix for me was prying open the door latch switch as you did, and then polishing up those little switch contacts carefully with some fine steel wool. There was a bit of oxidation on the contacts. This got them shiny again. Once the contacts were clean, I reassembled and reinstalled the switch, and the final spin worked again. Just thought I would share this and maybe save people a few bucks before they replace the door switch assembly or the motor.

So, I have the EXACT same washer. Clothes are wet and NO spinning action at all. It DOES "CLICK" and lock and start the cycle; it drains fine during the cycle: In your opinion, could it STILL be the door lock causing the no spin even though it clicks and locks at the beginning?
***update*** Did the switch. VERY easy. Did not solve my particular problem, however.
***update to the update*** I just wasn't patient enough during the testing. Ran a cycle and it worked! Thanks for posting! Very clear directions and an easy fix!

Our Whirlpool front load washing machine wouldn't cycle through and sometimes wouldn't even spin. It would cycle on Delicates or Heavy but not on Normal. And on Delicate or Heavy the clothes were still soaking wet. I ordered a door lock switch and it still didn't change. My washer pump filter is only accessible through the back so I removed it and it was caked solid with hair, etc. After cleaning it, it worked better than before. I should have listened to the old saying "don't re-wire the house before you try changing the light bulb" !!

  • @cbaldan
    @cbaldan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

The washing machine was washing as usual but started to not do the final spin, out of the blue, instead, it would spin back and forth slowly, and the timer was stuck on 6 minutes for 30+ minutes.
I didn't get to replace the wax motor, but I cleaned its contacts, the the contacts on the prongs below and all contacts - plug and lock assembly. And the washer is now doing the final high speed spin.

Hello. Your video made the replacement of the door lock look easy. So I ordered one, installed it, and it worked fine for the first wash. Second wash, it didn't do the high speed spin so we re-ran the clothes in just a spin cycle. That worked. Third wash, tried the second step of spin only and it didn't go to high speed spin. Is there another issue going on? Seems odd that it worked fine once.

@@ATP360 Best question here! You discover it's not spinning at the end of a wash -- and it could only wash it the door lock was working! So we need to be told that the lock breaks down during a wash cycle, not when the machine is not in use. If it broke down when the machine was not in use we wouldn't be able to use the machine at all! Obviously. Does that happen?

I replaced the switch with the oem replacement part, but unfortunately didn't fix the problem. The washer still fills and drains, and spins slowly, but it does not complete the final full speed spin. When I run a rinse/drain cycle, it get's stuck at 1 minute and never finishes.
I don't think it's the belt because I can't hear anything during the final spin cycle, but do you think it could be the motor controller? I wasn't sure because the machine does spin, it just doesn't do the full speed spin.

My front loading Blomberg won't start agitating once the water starts coming into the drum. It won't spin at all if i set the program to spin only. The door does lock when i turn on the machine and won't open until i cancel the program. Does this mean that a broken lock is not the problem and something else is causing it not to spin? Thanks so much for your help.

But it’s the same issue regarding the spin....should I be looking at a different fixture or go With the instructions on this video?

I have a Sears kenmore elite HE5t I had an F17 code the outer spring was off the door boot seal. Put the spring back on and then had a F25 code after husband completed a short cycle. 2 days later I removed the top, back and front lower panels. Checked the drain to make sure it was not plugged. Attempted a history overview test program. I hear the door lock, the machine fills both cold and hot, the drum rotates, drains however C:08 drum did not rotate counterclockwise from 35 to 90 rpm within 15 sec. The machine did not complete C:09 drum rotates counterclockwise at max speeds. I checked the tachometer resistance it was 115. Any thoughts? I was going to purchase a new doorlock at Dey appliance tomorrow but my gut tells me it might be a new motor and or Motor Control Unit.
    Thanks for your advise.

We have a Haier washer/dryer combo hdw1600bw. (I understand that GE supplies the parts?) The PCB and door lock are new. Despite the fact that the test modes run without reporting any issues, the drum does not turn. When I run the spin cycle, it reports error 7. What might cause the brain to think that the drum is turning during testing, but recognize it is not turning in a cycle? Do you think the issue is the motor?

Our washer selectively doesnt spin. It will do our comforter, sheets and even towels sometimes, but clothes. The door lock lights up. I can even put it on manual spin after manually draining the machine. But it will go slow back and forth a few times fir a few minutes and then i hear a click and time is added to the minutes (ex if on 6 from tge original 9 min setting then it will go back to 9+1 or 10 min and stop functioning altogether.
If its the sensor in the door lock, would the issue be constant and not intermittant?

I have a Gibson (Electrolux) model GTF1040AS0 that does this only on the regular wash mode. It will go through the cycles normally; but when it gets to the spin cycle, the motor will run like it wants to start the spin, but it never actually does. The other two modes (Perm press, Knits) work normally. Would this fix still resolve the issue, even though it's only happening on regular wash?

I open my blomberg door lock, I saw the Bi-metal contact and a coil relay. it always show "door not lock" on the screen. then I put some solder on the contact to raise it up a little bit to have more contact. it works, but i get a problem, the machine is not filling water and not spining, also can not pause. it start filling little bit water and sound's a agitates for 3 minutes then drain out. I just wonder if something to do with the door contact again because i have open it. there is 4 wire switch 28053110 blomberg door lock, two go to the coil, other two is the door lock.
