Steam deck windows has touch gestures. This means you can swipe in from the right side of your screen to open the action center. Swipe in from the left to view all your open apps in task view. I use this to quickly switch between games and programs.

In this video you tell us to keep steam running in background while using Swicd . But in the video that shows button mapping you said steam should turned off while running swicd .

Please make a tutorial on how to do the button mappings to make the windows experience more ideal in handheld mode, there is a way to within SWICD but it is complicated and definitely could use a tutorial.

@@shaydesofblue2281 yes, i have antoher video shows that how to use Glosc/GloSSI on the deck. th-cam.com/video/nymS_DFTWbs/w-d-xo.html you can check this out. but some people have issues to make the glosc work with their deck. thats why SWCID is here i will have a new video later today and showing that how to properly mapping the buttons on SWCID. SWCID will automatically boot with windows also, it does not require steam client installed on your steam deck windows.

Bind a key to the windows start button then you can change the brightness from the taskbar
Hey so I was messing around. I ended up just adding my non steam game to my steam library and the controlls worked perfectly. No double inputs or mapping. Now I did install the mapping program but I disabled it from booting when windows starts.
I feel like the programs drivers may be needed but the actual program itself isn't. Just some observations from last night. Thanks again for this tutorial

Does this let you use Steam Deck as a controller on a separate Windows PC? I'd like something that lets me use the Steam Deck as another Xbox-style controller. It'd also be cool if it could be a second monitor.
That’s good idea. But I don’t think it’s working the way you are talking right now. Maybe need extra software to make it work.
I'm having a problem where I can't use my L2 and R2 buttons. When I go to button mapping and go down to L2 and R2, they aren't configured to emulate any button, and when you click on the menu, there is no trigger buttons to emulate them to

@@ED4T also i’m having an issue where i’m trying to play genshin and when i tried to with swicd it would move on it’s own in game kinda like stick drift(lizard mode and buttons disabled in app) so i downloaded glossi and the game works BUT now my trackpad for steam doesn’t work. is there a fix or is that just what happens when u use glossi?

@@ED4T i did! SWICD worked great on every game and laucher besides genshin, the trackpad through having steam open worked as normal too. So i tried getting GLOsSI to fix this with that specific game and it worked but now my trackpas with steam open doesnt work. I tried unisntalling GLOsSi but it still doesnt work. Was trying to be able to use both so SWICD for every game besides genshin. sorry if im confusing you! thank you
No worry, I got what you said. I have both Glossi and SWICD on my steam too. I think it’s the best solution right now just keep both of them. It doesn’t hurt.

This isn’t working for me. My cursor is jumping around like two or 3 extra steps. I think it is trying to emulate both an Xbox 360 controller and the steam deck controller.

Can you help? I installed this and it works fine with NON steam games. But soon as a steam game opens the controls don’t work. Also L2 seems to bring up the steam keyboard for long press. How I turn this off?!

I tried using this but when testing the games act strangely. Sure it recognizes a controller, but some of the buttons have strange behavior. A button causes the game to stutter a full second. LT doesn't act as LT. In some games it doesn't work at all. If I look at Steam it thinks I have a Steam Controller connected. If I look in SWICD to configure buttons the LT and RT don't show up at all.
I watched your follow up video and everything is working great now. Disable Lizard mode and setting a bunch of buttons to none.

Do the games have to be installed on the same drive for the emulation to work ? I have my games installed on an external SSD and it seems the emulation for the controller works for none of my games. Steam or non steam.
It works with SD card game. I haven’t test with external ssd. Technically it should work.
I had problems using this the other day. when looking around and hitting the right or left trigger it would make my aim jump up or down alot. basically unplayable

Can't you just add tunic as a non steam game in your steam library? Wouldn't that work?
It's not working that way. That's why we have SWICD and glossi both method to make this work. Valve does not allow to do that way.

It will work same way, like connecting your laptop to a big screen tv. after installing windows 10 on deck. the steam deck works like a pc now.

I think if you want the dock to be more reliable and for long term then it is a good idea to get the official one. Most of third party docks are all from small companies in China. I just don't trust their long term liability. btw, I haven't get any dock yet because I don't dock my deck a lot. most of time, i will just just my Macbook USB hub, it will do as the dock work for me too.
I don't think this works on Windows 11. the app looks like it starts but nothing happens s when I click it

Glad we have another option with Glossi so help that work for you. Glossi is more stable than SWICD.

How do you open the SWICD Driver Control Panel?
on your windows desktop right bottom corner you should able to see a gamepad icon, right click on the gamepad icon and click show.
So I have a issue with swicd. When I'm playing cod warzone they trackpad not disabled and when I touch trackpad by mistake it mess up my aim is it a work to disabled trackpad completely?? Pls help
Make sure your steam client is completely closed and go to SWICD Default Profile check the first box after Disable Lizard Mode . That will solve your problem.

I downloaded the same version of ViGEm Bus Driver from your link, but after I double click on setup, the installer opens and says "Modify, Repair, Remove". I clicked modify and just installed whatever was highlighted. I hope this was right
That means you have previously installed it before on your deck.
I'm about to go ahead and install windows. I have 5 games I can't play.
Windows will let you run all games that you can't run on steam os.

Great video, but I’m having an issue where pressing buttons such as “A” and “B” will register as different buttons entirely, as well as a problem where presses will often be registered multiple times. Is there any workaround to this? Thanks!
You have try played around under the default profile. You can map all the buttons based on your own preferences.

Did you check the first two boxes under the controller profile. Make sure both boxed are checked.
@@ED4T managed to get the controls working. Thanks! Different issue now though, I’m seeing that windows has a few important updates it need me to install, but when it tries to restart to apply updates it boots to steamos. I’d there a fix to this? Thank you!
You should shut down windows manually and then power on manually too in order to do the update. do not use reboot feature otherwise it will boot to steam is.

you can use a psychical keyboard. To access the keyboard via a shortcut, press the CTRL + Windows key + O (letter o) simultaneously.
I prefer not to setup a pin for windows on steam deck. If you are not able to login windows then all third party softwares will not able to startup to work. so there is no way to setup a psychical button to call out the on screen keyboard before fully boot into windows.

I played Gta 5 on Steam os. I installed Windows 11, I installed SWICD, it's great. I turn on gta 5 and the controls are not suitable for the game. The same is true of the 3D creation program, Blender downloaded on steam. I’m confused Am I the only one with this problem? How to change controls to be able to handle each game and every program downloaded on Steam? Mapping the controller in the steam UI works, but when you turn on the game, it doesn't respond and it's still crap 😢😢😢

Try to remap your buttons that should fix the problem.

That’s an Issue with all FullScreen games, because the A & B Button already are mapped aus MouseButtons. I have this issue also with Fortnite. That’s why I switched back to Glossic, it‘s much better and not in beta state anymore like SWICD. I addition it‘s much simpler to install
It's under the controller profile. Also you should check the first 2 boxes under the controller profile to disable the mouse and button function.

Under controller profile you should be able to turn it off.
