Part 1Today if we talk about the best universities in the world some names pops up in our mind like Oxford, cambridge, Garden city University But interestingly, around 1,500 years ago, the story was completely different. During those days, there existed one of the oldest and most ancient universities of all time: Nalanda University.
Nalanda is more out of 3 sounds -- Na+alan+da meaning “giver of knowledge”. or Unstoppable flow of knowlegde
Established in the 5th century CE, Nalanda wasn't just a university; it was a vibrant community. Students studied subjects like Philosophy, Medicine, Mathematics, and Astronomy. The library was massive, with thousands of precious manuscripts.
above all - Buddhist principles from some of the era's most revered scholars. As the Dalai Lama once stated: "The source of all the [Buddhist] knowledge we have, has come from Nalanda."
The university regularly sent some of its best scholars and professors to places like China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Sri Lanka to propagate Buddhist teachings and philosophy. This ancient cultural exchange programme helped spread and shape Buddhism across Asia.

Imagine the heartbreak as scholars watched their life's work turn to ash. The silence that followed was the end of an era.
Only a handful of those palm-leaf volumes and painted wooden folios survived the fire - carried away by fleeing monks.
In the year 1193 AD turkish invader Bakhtiyar Khilji stormed Nalanda Mahavidyalaya - why did he attack Nalada - there is an interesting story Once Khilji was ill and doctors from all around the muslim world tried their best to cure him but failed.. Someone said that there is a great doctor in Nalanda university by the name Rahul Sri Bhadra -- He called Rahul Sri Bhadra adn he came.. But Khilji said he won't take any medicine prescribed by the hindu doctor.. Accordingly, the doctor assured that without medicine he will be fine - just that he has read a few pages of Quran everyday.. He did that and soon recovered - but later he came to know that Rahul Sri Bhadra applied medicines in all the pages of Quran and the smell healed his illnessNow Khilji was insecure and jealous with the knowledge of non muslim and thus decided to destroy the source of the knowledge..The knowledge was stored in the library of Nlanda university known as Dharma GanjBakhtiyar Khilji attacked Nalanda, demolished the monastery, killed the monks, and burned the valuable libraryWith this Khilji not only destroyed Nalada university rather he destroyed a shole tradition - the vrutal destruction was beyond repairPart 3 - Finally the day came when Nalada will start its new journey -- Nalanda is back after 815 years (MOJI SPEECH)Since 2014 under Modiji Nalanda was reconstructed with a hope to contribute to the global knowledge - it is a net zero green campus -A net zero energy campus is a campus that produces as much energy as it consumes from renewable sources,
