- client of ours had "problems" with their machine to say the least. these new gen. ohv engines have a max capacity of only 15 oz. of oil. i recommend using 13-14 oz. to be on the safe side, do not overfill engine

Thank you for this video! I just rebuilt my mower, it had been sitting for a couple of years my husband had an accident. I checked the manual, never gave an approximate amount to refill, and as you said, new oil was hard getting a good read. This was extremely helpful. Looked at a lot of videos, just gave the simple, “add, check, & don’t overfill”. I think it’s the heading of the video is why you haven’t gotten more views. Your video had the best explanation. 👍👍👍
I've caused damage when I was a kid doing that. I believe the rings take a beating more than anything. But there's a breather flapper that can fail. Soon thereafter, you basically have a lot of oil blowing out the breather and less cutting power. 13-15 oz if in doubt. I turn it on its side to drain. The old flathead push mowers took a little more oil but never a quart. Maybe 18 ozs?
Flatheads were 20oz total, refill was usually 16-18oz depending on how much oil was left in the engine. You always got more out when draining via the drain plug.
I think the guy might’ve filled it all the way to the top
Searching youtube for information on oil filter for this mower, don't see any mention of it or about it so I guess there is no oil filter.
Theres not
1/5 quarts taken out in an engine designed run on 15 ounces. that is 55 ounces of oil... Wow!!!
