The 2025 MT07 looks really nice. That gray color looks like an SP. I would pass on the automatic transmission. The upgraded suspension is a good choice by Yamaha. I think you shoud get one and drop your Akra on it!
You prefer your cable throttle why? Because the only experience you have is a bad one (former MT-09 which no longer exists, neither does that older e-throttle).
Ride by wire throttle is more to go wrong. Less connected feeling to the bike. Don't understand why this particular bike needs cruise control a tracer 9 or super tenere i get cruise but an mt-07 i don't understand.
@@justinrogers9427 It's not "more to go wrong." Cable systems were already using servo controls on secondary throttle plates for emissions and traction control (when equipped). A computer was already operating a set of throttle plates on cable systems. It's actually LESS complicated and LESS equipment to run a throttle-by-wire. It's less systems on board the bike to accomplish what engineers already were doing. It's a true computer op system, rather than the hybrid setup with cables. If you wanted true cable throttles you have to go back to the time when motorcycles were under Euro2 or older emissions standards, when there wasn't dual throttle valves for noise and emissions compliance, back right after the late 1990s. Otherwise, it's not "more to go wrong". In fact it's less to go wrong. Cables stick, cables stretch, cables rust, cables eventually wear out or break. And besides, a computer already operated secondary plates. Eliminate the secondary plates and the cables, and let the computer operate the main plates. How many electronic throttle assemblies have you heard of failing, breaking, short circuiting, or shutting down modern motorcycles? Be honest.
Agreed! I'm sure the bugs will need to be ironed out with the Y-AMT system. KTM created a true automatic motorcycle, but that will probably have problems too that need to be ironed out.
Inverted forks. Stiffer Frame , needed wider handle bars. Quick Shifter available on manual shifter. Slipper clutch better rear shock. Larger instrument panel Blue tooth for your GPS. Lighter wheels . Cruze control only available on the auto shift .
@@nodataexists Not sure, Honda and competition from China may keep them honest. I paid $7,400.00 for my 2016 FZ-07 with all taxes on the road. Then I paid $7,190.00 for a Brand New Z-28 Camaro in 1978. You can buy three MT-07's for what a Harley Davidson costs. I paid $2,000 for my luggage and brackets.. $650 for Ohlin fork cartiges .. Plus I added a windscreen and tank bag to mine. The side cases and top case can be removed in a few seconds.
The handlebars are fine on my 2022 which were widened from 2021. The suspension upgrade is nice but the ride by wire throttle being added ruined it for me, that's what made the MT-07 special compared to the competition. The new MT-07 will still be a great bike but now its just like the rest and doesn't differ much from the competition besides being down on power. The Suzuki GSX-8S has +10 hp and +7 lb-ft torque. The Honda CB750 has +17 hp! Yamaha should have bumped the power up a bit if they were going to adda ride by wire throttle and electronics.
@@CycleCruza I bought some MT-07 Handle bars on E-Bay and they are only 1/2" wider than the FZ-07 bars. I guess the bars I bought were older than 2021 Model .
Love this video, very descriptive and enjoyable. More please of other bikes. Keep them rolling, test drive bikes at dealer and review them. Great job brother
The only thing I miss is the high viz security emphasis that you mentioned back in the day. Helps a lot. Full black makes you invisible sometimes on the road
I still mention it in some videos. IMO, hi-viz is crucial to staying safe. I once had a guy pull up to me a intruck and said I was smart for wearing hi viz. When I'm in my car I can see a hi-viz rider a mile away and it immediately catches my eye. Use everything to your advantage to stay safe!
@@CycleCruza CC, I gotta give u props brother. I had the hi viz but after a while, I just couldn't. I felt like I was a construction worker. I sold it and bought a black one. At least I wear a white helmet.
@@joeyp4196 Valentino Rossi wore hi viz. I'd rather be safe than look cool but to each his own. I wish you the best of luck brother, keep staying safe!
@cyclecruza Are you saying what I heard you say? If we have the older ones such as 2016 FZ07 to hold on to those, cuz in my opinion its very engaging and connecting feeling to the road, also no ABS (MORE FUN), no intrusive electronics that will cost more due to any failures. What you think?
The Updates are big improvements no doubt.i owned a 2016 version despite the "flaws" it was a hoot to ride due to it's low weight torquey responsive engine. The new one they claimed has better rigidity hopefully suspension too with even less weight.Bottom line for me as long as that torquey responsive engine remains the same,I'll probably buy a new one. That MT07 engine is more than enough and fast enough and super fun.the looks upgrade will make it more compelling in my Opinion.
You were actually the first person I thought of when I watched the preview of the new MT-07! "I wonder what CycleCruza is going to think of this" I dont think there is anythere here that would make me buy this over the old model. But I have to admit that cruise control is a very much liked feature
The suspension upgrade is a good update on the bike but the ride by wire throttle ruined it for me, now it isn't much different than the competition besides being down on power compared to them. What made the mt-07 special is it had no electronics,. You don't even need electronics for a 690cc. However, to achieve the Y-AMT version they had to do it.
Totally agree with you. I ordered a 2024 MT07 pure. Next week iI will get it. My girlfriend owns a mt 07 2021. So we"ll going to ride the same bikes. Don't need ride by wire and all that shit. Pure riding is what it's all about. Love your vids man. Thanks a lot 👊
Guys i am absolutely torn. I have a 2024, do you guys think i should get the 2025 version or keep mine. I absolutely love mine but also like the new looks...
I an honestly intrigued by the y-amt. I mean, a car stops working if the automatic transmission fails too. Any motorized bike is going to have failure points. It is what it is. Having come up from electric bikes, and into scooters, I find the y-amt intriguing. I actually ride bikes rather than a car because I have rather good hand coordination but not as good operating controls with my feet. Having the automatic transmission, with the option to put it in semi automatic with a simple button rocker sounds a lot more approachable to me. And yeah, I get it. You and I are very different riders. I’m much more utilitarian in my riding, but if I were to get a “joy ride” oriented bike, it’d probably be something like this MT-07 with the y-amt.
Mr Cruza, have you riden the KTM 890 Duke R and if so, how would you compare yout MT07 to it for everyday commuting? Im old and not into performance so much but love good brakes because i make mistakes a lot 😂
I'm in total agreement with you on everything my friend. I am sick of them adding all the entertainment and rider aids to bikes. If you don't know how to ride without this stuff; please don't ride at all. It's very dangerous. What do I know?; just blessed to have been riding 50 years so far without an accident. Ride safe my brother.
I think all bikes should have a cable throttle. I don’t like the feel of the ride by wire there’s like a slight delay, always in it. It makes me wonder how reliable is it gonna be down the road
Honda tried the automatic transmission on a larger bike and it didn't work. Even though Yamaha has a little bit different trick of the automatic it's still not going to work I like the feel of the shift I like the clutch.
I think the automatic option is great for handicapped riders. If you an able bodied rider there is no real reason to get an automatic bike. However, they might sell well because this new generation is scared of manual transmissions.
It's not simple, it's as complicated, just does the work for you. It's actually more complicated, has more points of failure, more prone to bugs, wire wouldn't be as simple as a cable - cable = roll throttle, it goes, but wire = roll throttle, it processes your input and decides what to do, and then hopefully it does what you expect without any major lag. Sounds less simple to me. You have less direct control. If they do it well, it should be indistinguishable tho (the throttle) so we'll see what they do. If you want real simplicity get a scooter, they're fun, and they're actually simple, no electronics bs.
@BryBry55. Im pretty dead set on the y-amt mt-07 being my first bike. It will allow me to focus on my riding and feeling comfortable on the bike with the option to switch to manual once I have the hang of things and then later down the line pick up another bike that's manual or e-clutch and mess around with that. The few milliseconds or seconds it takes fumbling around with clutch and shifting could be vital for a new rider & it is more important in my opinion to just focus on riding and good riding habits.
@@emo4elmo Just get a manual, it isn't as hard as you are making it out to be, you'll be building worse habits that are dependant on an automatic transmission rather than understanding what gear you should be in and when.
The ride by wire no allows tuners to tune the MT-07 to the max. Some of the bigger tuners are so excited about it that they have already preordered them.
It was necessary to upgrade it. Selling a bike at that price with a chassis, fork and brake made in wood was robbery after 10 years of production. Ride By Wire is primarly a good thing beause it will have an autoblipper !
I think it will be a huge success,.. as it is infinitely better,.. nothing against the previous ones as I had a 2020 until recently, I exchanged it for an 09 4 gen. base, and if it is like this new 09,... and I believe so,.. it will be a huge success,.. one of the things I liked about this 09 was the fact that it is more compact than the 07, a split seat, well lower etc,.. and running, it's difficult to explain in words, but I advise you to try it,.. by far the best 09 ever made and I think exactly the same thing will happen in the 07,.. and the sales speak for yes,.. I was waiting 4 months for the 09,..there were no motorcycles to deliver for such demand, for me and from what I saw, it was by far the year that sold the most 09 and tracer 900 and I believe that the new 07 will follow the same fate,..they are a little more expensive, of course, but quality, and refinement will also go up,..
Yamaha had to do something to update the bike. But if they just did the suspension, brakes, and tweeked a few more hp, it would of been more than enough. Im curious to see how the fueling will be compared to the older cable throttle models. I doubt it will be as sharp. But it gets cruise control so theres that. If the ride by wire feels like the orginals, then it will be a big.improvement.
I agree with him.I been bought my 2024 mt07,I m from europ best way is old scool bike .Only way tjat you can enjoy raiding expirience in fuuly form, and that why is old mt07 much better.I salut to you for realistic opinion, bunch of electonics, bunch of problems.
I'm not too excited with all these new tech on a motorsickle that's coming on a bike that's already perfect the way it is. Especially the automatic tranny. Come on meow, if you take away the shifting gears on a motorsickle, then you might as well get a stinking scooter. I hope they bring the CB1000Hornet to the US. Im so looking forward to that! Meow oof to a different topic. The begode Falcon only have one mode that is fum! Are you getting it?
a little more power and torque would have not hurted us. The rest is cool. Forget automatic, auto kills half the fun. Bars can be changed. Ride by wire is a questionable.
I like the concept of paddle shifters. I don't get why gear shifting in motorcycles need to be done by foot. It's kinda of a medieval solution hahaha 😂
I agree and its a cool idea tbh and itsnt no different to the regular ones on a bicycle but this revolution will also cause persons not to know how to ride a "real bike" with gears and a clutch and can set them up if this is all they know
Same! I really want the manual, but with cruise control. It's so odd it doesn't, especially since they are both drive-by-wire. Do you know if there's maybe the option to put the cruise control module on the bike later on?
the new mt07 is 1000 dollars more expensive than a new mt07 2021 to 2024 edition. So for 1000 dolars you can put on new and better springs. And i ques the price of a new 2021 to 2024 edition wil drop also. so maybe you have money for an exhaust aswell.
why are people obsessed with rider aids ?? just buy yourself a computer, download moto gp game, put a helmet on and set up a fan so it blows directly in your head and there you go ... goal achived you dont have to drive it yourself just push a button ;)
I'm all about good deals... yesterday morning as I'm drinking my mushroom coffee I found a triumph street triple for 5800. I offered the guy 4000...he accepted. He originally wanted 7900. He was 72 years old and he just wanted it gone. Full exhaust, heated grips, only 4,000 miles it's MINT...I took it for a quick ride...and man!! The 765R is nice bro. You should look into a triumph. The one I just picked up is a 2019 765R street triple.
@@CycleCruza I must say. It's very nice. It's very well put together I realized that before I left the driveway. The 765R is nice. I bought it to make some money, but Im debating on keeping it lol. Or possibly sell it and grab the triumph speed triple 1200. Or street triple whatever it's called 😂
I'm one of the lucky ones who got a model before mid-2023, a 22' like yours actually, 100% made in Japan and not Indonesia. You were actually partially responsible for convincing me through your videos to get the specific bike, and i couldn't be happier. This bike dethroned the SV650 because it was a more modern blank canvas. You could do anything to it as it was just a plain fun bike, nothing fancy, nothing extra. Now, it's like every other bike. They follow a trend, and it's just another one.
I bought my 2024 MT-07 3 months ago and really hoped i wouldn't regret not getting the 2025 when it comes out. i just prayed it would be the same. looks like it IS different and I lucked out getting the 2024! not a fan of most of the upgrades except for the new suspension and frame. that's about it. I heard cruise control is only on the automatic version. who would ever want an automatic version of this wheelie machine??? I guess people who hate wheelies? lmfao
Even though I've never thought the MT07 needed all the rider aids and modes. It will bring more riders into the MT line-up that might've not considered the MT07 because of the lack of added features seen on their competition. The MT07 has reigned as King of the Hill for middleweight nakeds, so maybe this will see it retain it's crown given the competition has stepped their game up.
The only thing is it still down on power compared to the competition tho. If you are going to add the electronic rider aides you might as well bump the power up a bit to match the competition. For me, it was not about the power but that it was one of few remaining bikes with a cable throttle and no electronic bs and such a versatile bike. However, it is still a great bike.
@@CycleCruza Honestly even with rider aids and modes I highly doubt it'll lose that playful torquey throttle that has the front wheel wanting to go skyward. Also does it really need more power? Just because you dial-up the power since it's got rider modes doesn't change much. Just means when an inexperienced rider switches outta rain mode or what low power mode it's in to give the bike the full beans he/she will have more power to yeet themselves to infinity and beyond. With a high chance of having a pretty messed up accident and given not all riders are bout ATGATT, they'll be seeing bottomless debt when out the hospital. I think the MT07 has the right amount of power and torque to get you into trouble but enough to have fun and wheelie and comfortably cruise.
You know how easy it is to change throttle response with e-throttles? Press a button. You know how easy it is to change throttle response with cable throttles? You have to disassemble the entire throttle system, remove the grip, change the throttle tube out to R6 tube, put a new grip on, reattach the cables, and adjust. Nah, just go e-throttle. Yamaha totally redesigned the resistance and feel. E-throttles make it possible to do other things that aren't otherwise possible: quickshifter/blipper, cruise control, less complex throttlebody system, and easier emissions/noise compliance (I despise the miserable EPA and all the taxes, but that's besides the point). You can also program better fuel efficiency because the ECU operates the throttle with more efficiency than many riders can with their wrist.
You're just too old school, i for one would would totaly jump on this new model but i also have a 2021 mt-07 and its not financially viable enough for me to upgrade or buy or buy something else. Also i'm NEVER selling my bike.
Putting all these electronics on bikes that only makes 75 hp is stupid. All you’re doing is creating another fail point for something to go wrong on the motorcycle.
New rider that just got his license. My dream bike is a Tenere, but after lots of research, I settled on MT-07 as a first bike to hone my skills. It sounded like the perfect bike because it's not too big or heavy, not too crazy powerful while not being underpowered either. And it has very few electronics which I thought would help me to develop good skills and intuition. I also want to learn to maintain it and I think the less electronics, the easier. So I was lucky and found a brand new 2023 MT-07 at a local dealer for a very good price. I put a deposit on it and the next day this new 2025 version was announced. At first my heart sank when I saw it was a total overhaul. But then while I think the suspension and brake upgrades are very nice, I remembered that I chose the MT-07 because it was devoid of all those electronics. Plus I do not want a sportier riding position (I'm old). So in restrospect, I'm happy and I'm keeping the 2023 coming for next season. I'm sure it will be amazing to learn on. And I guess I can look for ways to improve the suspension at some point anyway. Not that I will find them lacking as a complete beginner. Also, few people mention it, but from what I get the tires are a downgrade. Tires are important!
got a '21 07 - the bike is great to commute on, nice and comfy, and of course you can have a lot of fun with the bike when the moment takes you. I too like the fact it's basic and nearly completely fully self-serviceable. I find the suspension fine for the road, but yeah, can be a bit po-go-like. shame these manufacturers can't give us the option of a 'basic' version.
Nice! I also got the MT-07 because it was void of electronics. I just knew Yamaha would change it and sadly they did. For me, what made the MT-07 special is it had the old skool cable throttle and no bs electronics. The only update I like on the new MT-07 is the suspension upgrade.
@@CycleCruza Like you say, it was coming at some point to address the competition. I'm willing to bet that a fully manual model with only the suspension, brake and chassis upgrades, but without the electronics and for less money would be popular.
@@anomaliespatiale6023 it will be interesting to see how it sells. I took a look at new bikes sales (UK) for the last two years. Yam is not in the top 10 for bikes above 125cc. That goes to BMW, and closest to MT07 is the Hornet and Triumph's RS (all stuffed with electronics). Different story for the MT07 in the second-hand market, though. Lots of units are moving around.
@@anomaliespatiale6023 While I'd miss the up/down qshifter I'd gladly do without the electronics (except the new TFT and its 2025 placement) for some additional weight savings. While their at it offering a non anti-lock brake option would offer lower cost, additional weight savings, and better braking feel (wish this was optional on all bikes).
I have a Royal Enfield Continual GT and a Yamaha Tenere 700. I like both bikes because of the charterer and the simplicity, I am not interested in the Automatic Transmission. Part of the fun of riding is shifting gears with your foot and using the clutch. I don't know how much difference the upside down forks will make on a street bike.
to be honest I was getting sold on this new model,..... then it happened an ergo. change why oh why?!,... and then boom! we're going automatic!!! HHMMMM ok just don't get the auto, but now a sportier ergonomic?? not this guy.
@@CycleCruza handle bar risers are certainly not a new mod. that's for sure. although I personally like most of the electronics. it comes down to inevitably. The bikes are all going to receive new technology, even the lower cc dirt bikes are. soo.. I'm adapting to some that I wasn't sold on at first. unless what you really get into is buying the older ones and fixing them up, / which is what I do as a hobby that i get to ride,... and crash into the same #$%@ tree on my back track./ ATGATT
Simpler is better. I miss the good old days. Half the fun of riding a motorcycle is shifting. Everything is getting 'automated' now so you don't have to do it. Soon they'll sell a bike that comes with its own rider who will ride it for you so you can go play a video game or buy more useless stuff with your smart phone.
I get the reason why they added the automated transmission but with the electronic throttle they could've easily made a quickshifter/autoblipper standard, taking 50% of the work out of the manual and reallocating the development costs of the Y-AMT somewhere else.
Yeah but a quick shifter/autoblipper isn't a fully automatic bike, you still need to manually put it in first gear with that. I think the Y-AMT is a great option for handicapped riders, now they have access to two of the coolest naked bikes. It will be curious to see what they do to the new MT-10.

I can't wait for the upcoming 2028 model which will feature an overhead roof, 4-wheel-drive and a seatbelt. 🔥
Don’t forget about a/c-the new addition to side x sides. 🤣
🤣
😂
😅we don't care
If we're lucky..air-conditioning 😅
The 2025 MT07 looks really nice. That gray color looks like an SP. I would pass on the automatic transmission. The upgraded suspension is a good choice by Yamaha. I think you shoud get one and drop your Akra on it!
There are some nice updates on the new mt-07 but I prefer my cable throttle and lack of electronics. However, I hope to be adding a R9.
Be honest.
Adding more complexity means that more can go wrong imo.
Agreed! I'm sure the bugs will need to be ironed out with the Y-AMT system. KTM created a true automatic motorcycle, but that will probably have problems too that need to be ironed out.
I think in that case, they remove complexity.
@@CycleCruzaDCT is king
Inverted forks. Stiffer Frame , needed wider handle bars. Quick Shifter available on manual shifter. Slipper clutch better rear shock. Larger instrument panel Blue tooth for your GPS. Lighter wheels .
Cruze control only available on the auto shift .
Wonder how much it's going to increase the price.
I’m going to buy the 2025 MT07 Y-AMT next year, possibly as soon as July. First bike
I like the xsr over the bug looking mt
I feel that
Eh you can't go wrong with either bike, choose your flavor. I prefer the more modern look but everybody has their own taste.
That was a great rundown, Cruza. What an awesome bike!!!
Thanks! It is still a great bike and one of the best selling bikes of all time. They will continue to stay sold out.
Really nice modern, budget friendly bike… I’d definitely pass on the AT !!!
I have the 2022 Mt07 and love it!
Bring it on ---- but in the XSR 700.
I think all bikes should have a cable throttle. I don’t like the feel of the ride by wire there’s like a slight delay, always in it. It makes me wonder how reliable is it gonna be down the road
Just got a 2023 with 250 miles from dealership only thing I wish it had is cruise control for long trips
Nice! I've never felt the need to have cruise control on a motorcycle, that is for boring drives in the car.
@@CycleCruza oh you mean stop men with no testosterone
@@oldcars46 Old men complaining about young men having no testosterone never gets old, it's got some Freudian slip energy to it for sure lol :P
Versatility. Broader appeal. I just hope they never stop the manual clutch.
Simple is better to me. Turn the key, hit the button, and go.
💯👍 That is what made the MT-07 special.
All I want to know if they actually fix the front end pogo stick feeling.
i'm hyped for the Y-AMT version, as a first time rider i guarantee I will be reserving it as soon as it hits market for my first bike.
Learn to ride with a clutch first and once you get used to it you'll never want to go with all that new auto stuff.
Some of the bigger tuners are so excited about it that they have already preordered them.
cable throttle plus manual all the time yes
It was necessary to upgrade it. Selling a bike at that price with a chassis, fork and brake made in wood was robbery after 10 years of production. Ride By Wire is primarly a good thing beause it will have an autoblipper !
I bought a 24 3 months ago and now Im like dayum.... damn....

This bike is awesome. Yamaha range is really impressive.
Im glad i bought a 2024 mt07 a couple weeks ago
Nice! Congrats on the new bike! You were lucky to get one, they are usually sold out. You got the last of the best.
who TF wants an automatic motorcycle?
I was thinking the same.
a little more power and torque would have not hurted us.
I agree and its a cool idea tbh and itsnt no different to the regular ones on a bicycle but this revolution will also cause persons not to know how to ride a "real bike" with gears and a clutch and can set them up if this is all they know
Thats dumb that they only put cruise control on the automatic versions. If it was on the manual one, I would've considered buying it.
I think Yamaha should have upted the power to the suzuki and Honda levels.
If I wanted an automatic motorcycle, I’d get a Honda Goldwing 😅
why are people obsessed with rider aids ?? just buy yourself a computer, download moto gp game, put a helmet on and set up a fan so it blows directly in your head and there you go ... goal achived you dont have to drive it yourself just push a button ;)
Dumbest comment ever
I'm all about good deals... yesterday morning as I'm drinking my mushroom coffee I found a triumph street triple for 5800. I offered the guy 4000...he accepted. He originally wanted 7900. He was 72 years old and he just wanted it gone. Full exhaust, heated grips, only 4,000 miles it's MINT...I took it for a quick ride...and man!! The 765R is nice bro. You should look into a triumph. The one I just picked up is a 2019 765R street triple.
Dang you got a sick deal, I would have snapped it up too! Congrats! I'm looking at some Triumphs, I might get one too.
It's not coming to America so don't care
Its not coming yet or not at all?
Some changes are long over due. Some aren’t. You pay for tech, bet it’s over 9k for the auto version.
It will never be has good as 😅the legendary Chinese Scooter 🛵
iam gonna pick up the yamt version, i know its fun to shift gears but iam really more of a scooter guy lol
I LIKE IT!
I like the lighter wheels and the self canceling turn signals. But all the electronic rider aids are really unnecessary on a 650.
I agree 100% 👍
Only now that I have my eyes on this, but it's already too late, since I already bought something else
I think I'll keep my z400.
The headlight gives me nausea 🤢🤮
Nah. You gave yourself that.
I don't like the new changes sometimes less is mine. I have a Tenere 700 and I like the simplicity perfect bike for me.
💯
I have a Royal Enfield Continual GT and a Yamaha Tenere 700. I like both bikes because of the charterer and the simplicity, I am not interested in the Automatic Transmission. Part of the fun of riding is shifting gears with your foot and using the clutch. I don't know how much difference the upside down forks will make on a street bike.
Ride by wire is trash. AT trans are trash, regardless of vehicle type. Just adding inflated expense to maintenance costs. smh
Glad you said all the changes made I was wondering what the changes were
I love that they have come back swinging hard with the MT07, but I have zero reason to get rid of my 2015. It's such a perfect all around bike.

New 2025 Yamaha MT-07 Y-AMT I think will be great. I'll test it next year.
Oh no, so the cable throttles are really going extinct. That's just sad.
@@CycleCruza Very true never thought about the handicapped community's access to bikes but now it makes sense.
Automatic sounds amazing
